(robin) our top story this morning... a father missing for nearly two weeks and now police have a person of interest. san francisco police say the disapperance of piseth chhay is suspicious. kron 4's jr stone spoke with his wife who is pleading for her husband's safe return. missing uber driver piseth shhay hasn't been seen for a week and a half..now though.a break in the case as police are actively searching for this man. 48 year old bob tang who is a friend of shhay's and has been labeled a

person of interest in the case. news that comes as a total surprise to shhay's wife rattana who knows bob and his family well.sot he came to my house on monday evening with his wife helping us out passing out the flyers and everythingtang was reported missing wednesday morning. in fact he was supposed to meet with police tuesday but failed to show.sot at this point we believe he has fled the country possibly to cambodiaa report has surfaced that shhay may have had a large gambling debt and owed someone money. rattana addressed that claim wednesday night.sot my goodness they tried to paint my husband as a bad person well let me tell you i've known this man for 24 years been married for 20 years he is not a gambler.rattana believes her husband is still alive waiting to be found. each day though is tougher for

the san jose unified school district continues to see new stomach flu cases. since may 4th hundreds of students from more than a dozen schools across san jose got sick with symptoms consistent with norovirus. officials say the number of cases tapered off this week in comparison to earlier this month. the district has launched an effort to thoroughly clean the impacted schools. officials say most of the kids who got sick two weeks ago have been able to return to school. (robin) another big story we are following this morning... a second botulism death has been reported in california. this time in the north bay out of napa county. the health department says the individual died within the last month kron4's alecia reid has the latest. botulism is poisoning caused by toxins stemming from bacteria. it's extremely rare, but can be deadly.pkgthere've been a number of illnesses and deaths related to botulism in the last 2 months.the most

recent an individual in napa county who health officials say ate contaminated canned goods.the c-d-c says you cannot see, smell, or taste the toxin, but even a small amount can be deadly.the health and human services agency here in napa says this case is isolated and not linked to the walnut grove case where 10 others contracted the disease.those are linked to tainted nacho cheese from a gas station.37 year old martin galindo . a father of 2 was taken off life support after contracting the illness.another victim 33 year old lavinia kelly has been in the hospital for weeks. she too started seeing symptoms within hours of eating a snack from the valley oak food and fuel last month. the youngest of all the victims 16 year old johnny villasenor is making progress at oakland children's hospital. the teenager, who is a sophomore at a school near sacramento was taken off a ventilator and moved from the i-c-u into a regular room."he was just doing what a normal

days before the bombing. and now militia in libya arrested his father and brother. they say the brother ha-shim admitted under interrogation that he and his brother were members of isis. the militia says ha-shim was plotting another terrorattack. police in the u-k say salman abedi (a-be-di) was known to both british and u.s. intelligence officials. investigators are now trying to figure out whether abedi (a-be-di) met with isis or al-qaeda operatives or received terror training while abroad. the british prime minister says they are disgusted and troubled by the attack. scene on interstate-5 in merced county when a charter bus with school children aboard catches fire. it happened around 4-30 yesterday afternoon near los banos causing major traffic delays. smoke could be seen billowing from the highway. the bus flames also started a brush on fire nearby. that was put out about an hour later from after an air tanker dropped water over the area. official say all the children got off the bus safely. one child however did suffer an asthma attack. no word on what caused the fire. (robin @ landing) happening now... a young boy is still in the hospital after being struck by a stray bullet in oakland. it happened late sunday night and police are hoping someone will come forward with information to help them solve this case. kron 4's charles clifford has the latest details. just before 11pm this past sunday, the oakland police department responded here to the 2700 block of fruitvale avenue on reports of a

shooting. when they arrived on scene, they found 9-year-old isai catalan suffering from gunshot wounds to his torso and leg. he was transported to children's hospital and at last check was listed in stable condition. police believe the boy was just an innocent bystander.sot so far, it's unknown who fired the shots that struck isai or why. the police department is hoping that the public will help them find whoever is responsible. sot

are growing more concerned about a series of fires at homeless camps. the latest happened yesterday morning. we first showed this to you yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. no one was injured but those who live here say it destroyed three tents. city officials say more needs to be done to prevent future fires. happened overnight on cork place near callan park. when officers were at the scene they were confronted by a person who was standing in the street with a shotgun. the officers shot and killed the man when he refused to listen to officers who told him to drop the gun. one officer was injured and taken to the hospital where he is expected to be okay. there are no other suspects. the incident remains under investigation. (robin) construction crews in butte county have started demolishing the damaged portion of the main spillway at the oroville dam. back in febuary huge chunks of the main spillway began washing away and when a second emergeny spillway also began giving way, authorities ordered the temporary evacuation of 188-thousand people downstream. crews aim to replace the lower portion of the spillway by november first. that's when winter rain and snow increases the flow of water into the lake. claims that garcia -torres could be suffering from some kind of mental illness brought on by possible exposure to pesticides. the jury heard testimony about how torres was raised by parents who were farm workers. various testimony revealed he lived in houses with holes in the walls near the fields where he could have been exposed to chemicals. (robin) a woman with a fake beard who was arrested in connection to a bank robbery in danville has been identified as former southern california police officer. her name is jennifer rae mc- clary. the robbery happened wednesday morning at the bank of the west branch on diablo road in danville. police say, mc-clary entered the bank wearing a baseball cap and with a painted on beard. she handed a note demanding money - and then took off. she was arrested later that afternoon. placentia police say mc-clary was a former officer in the department. no word on when she worked there or why she (robin) in the east bay...

( darya ) jury deliberations will begin this morning in the murder trial of three jail guards accused of beating a mentally ill inmate to death. michael tyree was found dead in his cell with a ruptured spleen at san jose's main jail in 2015. jereh lubrin, rafael rodriguez and matthew farris are the deputies who could face life in prison if convicted. they are also facing charges connected to the beating of a second mentally ill inmate on the same night. defense attorneys say the inmate died when he slipped and landed on the corner of a sink. shortly after suffering the injury, 20-year-old robert paylor underwent surgery to repair a damaged disc in his spine. doctors say he has complete sensation throughout his spine and has some movement in his fingers and toes. but they also say that he still faces extended rehabilitation which is set to begin this week. ( mark ) doctor's say it is possible that robert could one day walk again. ( darya ) a charter bus with children on board catches fire in merced county. it happened yesterday afternoon near los banos causing major traffic delays. smoke could be seen billowing from the highway. the flames from the bus also caught nearby brush on fire. all

( darya ) construction crews in butte county have started demolishing the damaged portion of the main spillway at the oroville dam. in february, huge chunks of the main spillway began washing away. and when a second emergency spillway also began giving way, authorities ordered the temporary evacuation of 188-thousand people downstream. crews are trying to replace the lower portion of the spillway by november first. that's when winter rain and snow increases the flow of water into the lake. ( mark ) a woman who was arrested in connection to a bank robbery in danville is a former southern california police officer. we told you about this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. her name is jennifer rae mc- clary. the robbery happened wednesday morning at the bank of the west branch in danville. police say mc-clary robbed the bank wearing a baseball cap and had a painted on beard. she was arrested later that afternoon. placentia (pluh-sen-chuh) police say mc-clary was a former officer in the department. ( mark ) a football player from de la salle high school is convicted of sexual assault. the assault happened in november after a football game. the victim went to a neighboring high school. the football player was 15 years old at the time of the assault and his name is not being released. he is now facing up to 10 years behind bars. he may also be required to register as a sex offender. ( darya ) palo alto police have made an arrest in at

least one case of indecent exposure. this one dates back to february. police say the victim took a picture of 28-year-old jonathan chestnutt after he had passed by her. that photo eventually led detectives to chestnutt. he is already in the santa clara county jail accused of theft in a different case. now he faces at least one count of indecent exposure. ( darya ) we now know the name of the man shot and killed in front of a weinerschnitzel restaurant in san jose last week. police have identified the victim has george garza. the 38-year- old was shot thursday night in front of the restaurant. officers arrived and found garza suffering from at least one gunshot wound. no arrest has been made. the homicide marks the 12th in san jose so far this year. ( mark ) a fed-ex driver is accused of breaking into people's homes on the peninsula. 57-year-old kevin baker pleaded not guilty in court yesterday. prosecutors say baker broke into at least three homes... two in atherton and one in menlo park.

( darya ) a high school student's campaign video for junior class president is stirring up controversy at an east bay school. some people are upset that the student is still in a leadership role at san ramon valley high school. the campaign video allegedly depicts images of terrorists. after learning of the video, the school removed the student from his position but the student claimed that his first amendment rights were violated and hired an attorney. he was then re-instated as student president. that decision is drawing mixed reaction from other students.

alamo square park in san francisco is back open to the public. the park overlooking the "painted ladies" has been closed for more than a year for renovation. it was reopened with a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday. the san francisco landmark has undergone a more than five million dollar renovation that was necessary because of an aging irrigation system. the park will be one of the most-water efficient spaces in the city. ( darya ) the parks department expects to save as much as two and half million gallons of water annually with the new irrigation system. ( darya ) in the south bay... there are more cases of the stomach flu in the san jose unified school district. since may 4th, hundreds of students from more than a dozen schools across san jose have developed symptoms consistent with norovirus. officials say the number of cases tapered off this week in comparison to earlier this month. the district is thoroughly cleaning the impacted schools. officials say most of the kids who got sick two weeks ago have been able to return to school. ( mark ) the white house and justice department have failed to meet the senate's deadline to turn over records of conversations between president trump and former f-b-i director james comey. the deadline to hand over the records was last night. the senate judiciary committee demanded the records after it was revealed that comey documented all of his calls and meetings with the president. some of those documents reportedly include details about the president asking comey to go easy on former national security advisor michael flynn. both the white house and the justice department have requested more time to hand over their records. comey has agreed to testify before the senate intelligence

( darya ) jackson's team is coming through for him. he has been able to borrow some equipment so he won't miss out on the last few games of the season. ( darya ) a cal-bears rugby player who was partially paralyzed during a match earlier this month is recovering in san jose. shortly after suffering the injury, 20-year-old robert paylor underwent surgery to repair a damaged disc in his spine. doctors say he has complete sensation throughout his spine and has some movement in his fingers and toes. but they also say that he still faces extended rehabilitation which is set to begin this week.

( mark ) 26 people are dead after a controller for an implanted heart pump malfunctioned. 29-thousand controllers are being recalled by "abbott laboratories." the device helps the heart's main pumping chamber circulate blood. the f-d-a says 70 malfunctions have been reported and is warning people to only change the controller at a hospital. the manufacturer recently notified people about the recall and is giving patients new software and new controllers if needed. ( mark ) a charter bus with children on board catches fire in merced county. it happened yesterday afternoon near los banos causing major traffic delays. smoke could be seen billowing from the highway. the flames from the bus also caught nearby brush on fire. all the children got off the bus safely. one child did suffer an asthma attack but is

( darya ) construction crews in butte county have started demolishing the damaged portion of the main spillway at the oroville dam. in february, huge chunks of the main spillway began washing away. and when a second emergency spillway also began giving way, authorities ordered the temporary evacuation of 188-thousand people downstream. crews are trying to replace the lower portion of the spillway by november first. that's when winter rain and snow increases the flow of water into the lake. man convicted of killing sierra lamar are trying to convince jurors that he may have been exposed to pesticides that may have caused a mental illness. a toxicologist has testified that antolin garcia torres might have been exposed to farm chemicals when he was a child but could not say to what extent he might have been affected by them. the judge in the case also ruled that the jury would not hear from a psychologist who examined garcia torres. but the judge did grant a defense motion to recall a detective, whose credibility may be an issue after he was found to have given false testimony in another, unrelated murder case. ( mark ) a woman who was arrested in connection to a bank robbery in danville is a former southern california police officer. we told you about this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. her name is jennifer rae mc- clary. the robbery happened wednesday morning at the bank of the west branch in danville. police say mc-clary robbed the bank wearing a baseball cap and had a painted on beard. she was arrested later that afternoon. placentia (pluh-sen-chuh) police say mc-clary was a former officer in the department.

( darya ) a football player from de la salle high school is convicted of sexual assault. the assault happened in november after a football game. the victim went to a neighboring high school. the football player was 15 years old at the time of the assault and his name is not being released. he is now facing up to 10 years behind bars. he may also be required to register as a sex offender. ( darya ) a u-c berkeley professor is fired for violating the university's sexual misconduct code. this is video of protests on campus last june calling for his firing. assistant professor blake wentworth was fired yesterday after an investigation claiming he sexually harssed four students. the women say he repeatedly touched them and made inappropriate sexual comments. he was placed on involuntary leave last june. university officials recently rewrote the school's sexual harassment investigation and discipline policies following a string of high-profile claims against faculty and administrators. ( mark ) palo alto police have made an arrest in at least one case of indecent

exposure. this one dates back to february. police say the victim took a picture of 28-year-old jonathan chestnutt after he had passed by her. that photo eventually led detectives to chestnutt. he is already in the santa clara county jail accused of theft in a different case. now he faces at least one count of indecent exposure. ( mark ) we now know the name of the man shot and killed in front of a weinerschnitzel restaurant in san jose last week. police have identified the victim has george garza. the 38-year- old was shot thursday night in front of the restaurant. officers arrived and found garza suffering from at least one gunshot wound. no arrest has been made. the homicide marks the 12th in san jose so far this year. ( darya ) a fed-ex driver is accused of breaking into people's homes on the peninsula. 57-year-old kevin baker pleaded not guilty in court yesterday. prosecutors say baker broke into at least three homes... two in atherton and one in menlo park. police were able to trace electronics that baker reportedly took from the

officials are growing more concerned about a series of fires at homeless camps. the latest happened yesterday morning. we first showed this to you on the kron 4 morning news. no one was injured but those who live here say it destroyed three tents. city officials say more needs to be done to prevent future fires. ( darya ) the city has started sending public works crews out to clean up the debris at homeless encampments. they believe this will help reduce the risk of more fires. ( darya ) san francisco mayor ed lee has announced plans to increase the money for homeless centers and shelters throughout the city. mayor lee made the annoncement while celebrating the opening of the new "dogpatch navigation center" for the homeless. city leaders say the number of beds at all centers will increase by more than 150 percent by next year. san francisco

partisan congressional budget office. the house passed the new health care plan earlier this month before the latest c-b-o estimate was in. the estimate also found that the bill would reduce deficits by nearly 120-million dollars compared to the affordable care act. democrats say the report is more validation that repealing obamacare law would be harmful. house speaker paul ryan says the republican bill achieves its mission of lowering premiums and reducing the deficit. ( mark ) a drug company settled a lawsuit from santa clara and orange counties for misleading marketing practices. teva pharmaceutical agreed to pay one-point-six million-dollars to settle the lawsuit. the lawsuit accused that painkiller makers downplayed the risks of their drugs and exaggerated their benefits. the settlement also requires the company to disclose the risk of addiction anytime it advertises the benefits of its painkillers. four other major pharmaceutical companies defendants. inside a locker room has been sentenced. a judge ordered dani mathers to perform 30 days of community service removing graffiti. mathers pleaded no contest yesterday. she will also be on probation for three years. mathers posted a photo of a naked 71-year-old woman on snap-chat last year. she wrote on the post, quote, "if i can't unsee this, then you can't either." mathers later apologized for the photo. ( darya ) a high school student's campaign video for junior class president is stirring up controversy at an east bay school. some people are upset that the student is still in a leadership role at san ramon valley high school. the campaign video allegedly depicts images of terrorists. after learning of the video, the school removed the student from his position but the student claimed that his first amendment rights were violated and hired an attorney. he was then re-instated as student president. that decision is drawing mixed

( darya ) the attorney representing the teen says they immediately took down the video after another student complained that it was racially insensitive. the school is standing by its decision to reverse course and reinstate the student as junior class president. ( mark ) several prison guards and inmates are in the hospital following a riot at pelican bay state prison. it is home to some of california's most violent and notorious criminals. prison officials say the inmates were fighting and when guards went to break it up - they were attacked. correctional officers then shot five inmates. their conditions are not known this morning. two other prisoners were injured in the riot. eight guards had to be taken to the hospital... two are still being treated for their injuries. the prison is just outside

( mark ) a very well-known harvard dropout will be giving the school's commencement address this year. facebook c-e-o mark zuckerberg is giving the speech. zuckerberg dropped out twelve years ago to develop facebook. the 33-year-old isn't the first drop-out to give the address. microsoft's bill gates also gave the address after he dropped out of the school. zuckerberg started facebook in his harvard dorm room in 2004. ( darya ) the world-famous alamo square park in san francisco is back open to the public. the park overlooking the "painted ladies" has been closed for more than a year for renovation. it was reopened with a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday. the san francisco landmark has undergone a more than five million dollar renovation that was necessary because of an aging irrigation system.
