( averi ) an officer involved shooting turns deadly in the south bay. this happened around 12:30 this morning in san jose. officers were dispatchesd to east saint john street on reports of a disturbance in an apartment complex. when police arrived to the scene, an officer made contact with the suspect and opened fire. he died at the scene at the hospital. police in san francisco are investigating a homicide. it happened just after 12:30 this morning in the 42-hundred block of mission street. when police arrived, they found the body of the victim with a gunshot wound. police have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting. ( marty @ landing ) our top story this morning. a young boy falls off of a water slide at the grand opening of dublin's "wave water park." this video shows the moment the ten-year-old fell out of the emerald plunge water slide and onto the concrete saturday. look closely, you can see him fly off the edge of the catch basin and briefly ride the edge before falling to the

retrive a hat, but never came back up. according to the coast guard, the man is not a good swimmer. the man was last seen wearing a brown shirt, board shorts and no shoes. ( marty @ landing ) another big story we are following this morning... in the east bay, a teenager managed to pull his younger brother from a second story window of their burning house. likely saving his life. kron four's spencer blake brings us the hero's story from hayward. (spencer blake)"imagine even being able to reach that second-story window sill up there, let alone actually grabbing onto it and hoisting yourself up. that's exactly what 18-year-old petelo finau did to save his brother's life."(nats)firefighters say there was much more smoke than there were flames at this fire friday night.and the biggest concentration of smoke was coming from áthis window, where 13-year-old francis finau was trapped.the fire separated the boy with autismfrom his other family members."i tried to enter the kitchen but then the heat was too strong and it started burning my hair and my beard." so 18-year-old petelo acted quickly.he jumped from his own window upstairsthen in a

parkour-style leap, grabbed onto the sill of francis' window."he was too scared to jump out the window so i was trying to yank him out of the window but he was crying - he was just too scared. so he closed the window on me."as neighbors started to gather below, petelo waited for some help.finally someone brought a chair to stand on, which was followed by a ladder.but it had been almost a full minute since francis closed the window."and at that point, i thought i lost him. i thought i lost him right there." finally, francis opened it back up.it took several tugs and yanks, and the help of another man, but petelo finally got his brother down safely.their uncle made it out on his own, and a family friend helped lead yet another brother through the smoke and out the front door."what petelo did was outstanding. i think it's something that we would want the community to do as long as they're not placing themselves at risk."all this happened as alameda county fire trucks were arriving.they had the fire out within half an hour, but the home is no longer inhabitable."i'm just grateful for my brother being alive and that's what really matters to me."the finau family has been hauling belongings off as they stay with family for now.francis, who inhaled a lot of smoke, should be out of the hospital soon.in hayward, spencer blake, kron four news. rural mississippi... police have arrested a suspect after a sheriff's deputy and seven others were killed in a mass shooting. it happened last night in three separate homes. charges have not been filed against the suspect. no word yet on a motive behind the attack. ( marty ) police have identified the suspect and victims of a deadly stabbing on a commuter train in portland. authorities say jeremy christian attacked three people friday after yelling anti-muslim slurs. police believe the slurs may have been directed at two girls, one of them wearing a hijab at the time. authorities say two men tried to calm him down before he stabbed both men. a third victim was hospitalized with serious injuries. christian, who has robbery and kidnapping convictions is now facing multiple murder charges. of the attack as salman abedi went to an apartment in downtown manchester. investigators believe the apartment may be the place where the bomb was put together. abedi detonated the device after the concert monday night, killing 22- people. britain lowered its terror threat level from "critical" to "severe" on saturday. uber c-e-o travis kalanick died in a boating accident in fresno county.. and his father is in serious condition this morning. uber officials say the tragedy has left travis heartbroken. they say he was extremely close to his mother. the accident happened friday in pine flat lake. police believe kalanick's parents were injured when their boat ran into a rock. the couple had been boating in the area for over 30-years. ( marty ) rock legend gregg allman of the allman brothers band has died: allman recorded classics like "midnight rider", and "rambling man.' his manager says that allman passed away peacefully at his home saturday in georgia of complications from liver cancer. he and his older brother duane were the founders of the allman brothers band. gregg allman was 69-years old. are searching for the person who stabbed someone with a knife during an assault in oakland. it happened friday night on san pablo avenue near highway 9-80. the victim was rushed to the hospital. police have not released a description of the attacker. nor is there word on the condition of the victim. stockon neighborhood are picking up the pieces this morning after a massive warehouse fire spread to nearby homes. fire fighters say strong winds quickly escalated things when the fire pushed into a nearby neighborhood and ended up damaging five homes thursday. crews put out the fire friday. one woman was sent to the hospital with burn injuries. the red crosss is helping out people who cannot go home and those who lost everything in the fire. southern california has made it her mission to send letters to those who serve the u-s overseas. al-leen cooper began sending letters to the troops when her son was serving in the vietnam war. she would send him a letter everyday and hasn't stopped since. six years ago, al-leen started keeping track of the letters. since then, she has sent nearly seven-thousand. al-leen makes sure that no two letters are a like... and there are not short cuts, each letter is at least four pages long. ( marty ) cooper says she is serving up comfort food for soldier's souls from her kitchen table. and the soldiers can't seem to get enough. she receives commendations from the troops, even getting flags from their bases. she says her hands are getting tired but this grandma's mission is far from over. two veteran in michigan achieved one of his dreams this memorial day weekend by earning his high school diploma. milton mockerman changed his birth certificate in 19-44 so he could be in the navy and fight in world war two. after he joined the navy...he missed his high school graduation. he still felt like something was missing even though he started a career in the railroad business after serving in the war. that's when he contacted his old high school again and decided to finally get that diploma. police in san francisco are investigating a homicide. it happened just after 12:30 this morning in the 42-hundred block of mission street. when police arrived, they found the body of the victim with a gunshot wound. police have arrested a suspect in connection with the ( marty @ landing ) our top story this morning. a young boy falls off of a water slide at the grand opening of dublin's "wave water park." this video shows the moment the ten-year-old fell out of the emerald plunge water slide and onto the concrete saturday. look closely, you can see him fly off the edge of the catch basin and briefly ride the edge before falling to the ground below. the boy sustained minor injuries. this has drawn mixed reaction from people at the park.

(spencer blake)"imagine even being able to reach that second-story window sill up there, let alone actually grabbing onto it and hoisting yourself up. that's exactly what 18-year-old petelo finau did to save his brother's life."(nats)firefighters say there was much more smoke than there were flames at this fire friday night.and the biggest concentration of smoke was coming from áthis window, where 13-year-old francis finau was trapped.the fire separated the boy with autismfrom his other family members."i tried to enter the kitchen but then the heat was too strong and it started burning my hair and my beard." so 18-year-old petelo acted quickly.he jumped from his own window upstairsthen in a parkour-style leap, grabbed onto the sill of francis' window."he was too scared to jump out the window so i was trying to yank him out of the

rural mississippi... police have arrested a suspect after a sheriff's deputy and seven others were killed in a mass shooting. it happened last night in three separate homes. charges have not been filed against the suspect. no word yet on a motive behind the attack. ( marty ) police have identified the suspect and victims of a deadly stabbing on a commuter train in portland. authorities say jeremy christian attacked three people friday after yelling anti-muslim slurs. police believe the slurs may have been directed at two girls, one of them wearing a hijab at the time. authorities say two men tried to calm him down before he stabbed both men. a third victim was hospitalized with serious injuries. christian, who has robbery and kidnapping convictions is now facing multiple murder charges.

bottlerock is the biggie happening this weekend. when it first started in 2013, no one was really sure what to think.. now, all everybody thinks about is how to get a ticket. it's a sold out event. happening right in the heart of downtown napa, this year's headliners include maroon 5, macklemore, (mack-la-more) tom petty & the heartbreakers and the foo fighters, along with a number of rising stars. it goes without saying the music is top notch, but bottlerock seems to be hitting its stride in so many different aspects. it's not just about music. bottlerock's added more color this year with the help of napa artist gordon huether (who-thur).

( marty ) if you use fastrak...you may be owed some money. the bay area toll authority owes drivers more than one million dollars in unclaimed checks. according to fastrak -- the claims go back to 2005. transit officials say the money is from uncashed checks, overpaid fines or money from accounts which were automatically closed. motorists have until july 11 to claim refunds. after that the bay area toll authority will keep the money. fastrack says there are still more than 60-thousand unclaimed checks... some worth more than one- thousand dollars. we put a link on our website at kron4.com where you can find out how you can claim your money. ( marty ) breaking news out of rural mississippi... police have arrested a suspect after a sheriff's deputy and seven others were killed in a mass shooting. 35-year-old willie godbolt is now in custody. the shooting happened last night in three separate homes. godbolt says he was shot in the arm by someone inside the home before he was taken to the hospital. he told a reporter that he killed those eight people because he loves

( marty ) police have identified the suspect and victims of a deadly stabbing on a commuter train in portland. authorities say jeremy christian attacked three people friday after yelling anti-muslim slurs. police believe the slurs may have been directed at two girls, one of them wearing a hijab at the time. authorities say two men tried to calm him down before he stabbed both men. a third victim was hospitalized with serious injuries. christian, who has robbery and kidnapping convictions is now facing multiple murder charges. are searching for the person who stabbed someone with a knife during an assault in oakland. it happened friday night on san pablo avenue near highway 9-80. the victim was rushed to the hospital. police have not released a description of the attacker. nor is there word on the condition of the victim. ( marty ) people in one stockon neighborhood are picking up the pieces this morning after a massive warehouse fire spread to nearby homes. fire fighters say strong winds quickly escalated things when the fire pushed into a nearby neighborhood and ended up damaging five homes thursday. crews put out the fire friday. one woman was sent to the hospital with burn injuries. the red crosss is helping out people who cannot go home and those who lost everything in the fire. two veteran in michigan achieved one of his dreams this memorial day weekend by earning his high school diploma. milton mockerman changed his birth certificate in 19-44 so he could be in the navy and fight in world war two. after he joined the navy...he missed his high school graduation. he still felt like something was missing even though he started a career in the railroad business after serving in the war. that's when he contacted his old high school again and decided to finally get that diploma.
