of the flu, so in his absence, regular head coach steve kerr was back in charge. but no, that doesn't mean he is back full-time or returning to the sidelines anytime soon. kerr has been attending practices consistently for the last several weeks, so him being there is nothing new. last week-- general manager bob myers said kerr is not ready to coach, and as we are three days away from game 1, kerr re-iterated he will not be on the bench for game 1. "yeh, i'd like to tell you i'm ready, but i'm not ready to coach yet.i'm still feeling a lot of effects of what i've got going on. but with mike being out, i'll take his spot, after he took my spot, media wise. i told the team the good news is the team's really healthy, the bad news is the coaching staff is dropping like flies, so hopefully mike will be back tomorrow. mike's ben amazing. it's an awkward situation for anybody. this is so unique. it's just weird because one the one hand mike has to coach the team as he sees fit. i'm taking park in practices, helping with the messaging, taking part in meetings. but i'm not on the sidelines during games, so he has to make those decisions as if it was his team, but he's also taking my advice and counsul behind the scenes. there seems to be a theme when i'm out. the team is like 108 and 2 (laughter)"
