awareness day, moms demand action for gun sense in america, a part of everytown for gun safety and the wear orange coalition, will host the second annual golden gate bridge wear orange march to honor the lives of those affected by gun violence and to elevate gun violence prevention efforts nationwide. hundreds of volunteers and gun violence survivors will march across the bridge, culminating in a rally led by the california chapter of moms demand action and featuring shannon watts, founder of moms demand action and richard martinez, member of everytown survivor network and senior associate for everytown for gun safety, whose son christopher ross michaels-martinez was shot and killed in the may 2014 shooting in isla vista. wear orange was inspired by friends of hadiya pendleton, a 15- year-old chicago high school student killed by gunfire, who decided to honor her life by wearing orange - the color hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others. this year on june 2, more than 400 influencers, corporations, mayors, partner organizations and a series of iconic landmarks across the country will participate in the wear orange campaign. ( marty @ landing) a historic church in berkeley, that went up in flames back in october - is now set to reopen this weekend. this is video of that fire. you can see the massive flames that destroyed the first congregationalist church on channing way. the fire started near a brick chimney. investigators have yet to release a cause. and tomorrow, services will be held for the first time since the fire. services will be held from 10- to eleven sunday morning. firefighters who worked to put out the fire - will also be there. ( marty @ landing ) a murder in a san francisco neighborhood has tourists and many others on edge. this after an austrailian visitor was beaten to death. the tourist is identified as 33

-year old matthew bate . it hapened at the divinci villa hotel on van ness ave and filbert. two men have been detained in connection with the murder. although only one is being called a suspect in the beating. police say it started as an argument that soon turned violent. it's unclear what the issue was in the first place. but police say no guns or knives were used. some tourists staying in the hotel say they were awakened by police knocking on their doors. ( marty ) police are reviewing surveillance video from the scene. ( marty ) a popular seafood restaurant in the east bay is open again following a forced closure earlier this week because of a rat problem.

on wednesday, customers at lin's buffet in concord reported seeing rats and rat droppings inside the restaurant. contra costa county health inspectors confirmed the existence of rats and quickly closed the restaurant. health officials say lin's buffet has a history of complaints and code violations. morning if you ate raw tuna in the last month... the f-d-a is recalling a certain brand of imported frozen tuna cubes and steaks after it tested positive with the hepatitis-a virus. the recall covers frozen yellowfin tuna steaks from the sustainable seafood company and yellowfin tuna cubes from santa cruz seafood and the hilo fish company. several of the products were distributed in parts of california, texas and oklahoma. three san francisco restaurants, a san rafael restaurant and a san carlos restaurant all recieved shipments of the contaminated tuna... the f-d-a says no reports of illness have been linked to the tuna. for more information log onto kron four dot com. ( marty ) we now know the names of a man and woman shot and killed in oakland. it happened early yesterday morning on 85th avenue. police say 47 year old kenya levias and 45 year dennis johnson were sitting in a car when someone came up and opened fire. they both died at the scene. the killer is still on the loose. ( marty ) the chief deputy coroner in marin county pleaded ánotá guilty to a series of felony and misdemeanor charges of sex crimes with a young girl. darrel harris is charged with several different child sex crimes dating back to 2008 and continuing until earler this year. santa rosa's police department is handling the case because harris often works with marin county law enforcement agencies. the 46-year-old from san rafael has worked in the marin county

coroner's office for 15 years. harris posted 750-thousand dollar bail and was released. he's is on paid administrative leave and will be back in court later this month. ( marty ) a warning this morning. car thefts are on the rise in the east bay. there have been more than 150- vehicles stolen in the city of livermore since january first.... and authorities say it does not look like there is any one person or group behind them all. kron four's spencer blake has more on the crime trend. it reached about 85 degrees livermore friday.but the thermometer won't tell you livermore is becoming a hot spotfor car thefts."we've noticed a bit of an uptick." police say the 165 cars stolen so far this year is rapidly outpacing the 292 cars stolen in all of 2016."it'd be real easy if it was all occurring in one neighborhood 'cause then we could go in and just watch that neighborhood, but it's all over town."look at the red dots representing stolen cars - no concentration to speak of anywhere.but what

santa clara county jail guards in the murder of a mentally ill inmate is going to keep the spotlight on the need for reform and oversight in the jail system. the case sparked a call for reform that led to the formation of a civilian-led commission that recommended sweeping changes. some of these changes already in place... such as more surveillance cameras along with more psychiatric and medical personnel and crisis intervention training.

san ramon valley high school, marking the end to a year that saw the danville school in a negative spotlight. there's been a series of campus controversies involving students. most recently, parents of a student criticized the school's response after their daughter was recorded using the restroom. that video was posted online. school leaders say they have taken more action against two students involved. kron four's charles clifford talked to the victim's parents. last fall, a 17-year-old female student here at san ramon valley high school apparently used a cell phone to video a 16-year-old female student using the restroom. the 17-year-old also posted the video online where it was seen by dozens of other students. when school officials learned about what happened, they suspended the 17-year-old for three days and then allowed her to return to classes and extracurricular activities. the parents of the victim felt that punishment was inadequate.sot says we are throwing the perpetrator back into the same environment and the same environment my daughters in. she's suffering in.but, upon further review the san ramon valley school district has apparently decided to take additional steps. on friday,

the ceiling for ventilation added another room in the garage and even re-wired the electrical system. closets were destroyed and mold is growing from the ceiling. manly says the damage is shocking but the betrayal is even worse. ( marty ) the total cost of the damage has not been calculated yet. manly says she does not think her insurance will be able to cover all of the reapirs. ( marty ) children whose dads are incarcertated miss out on many things, like spending time together on special occassions. but that changed thanks to a program where kids were able to see their dads up close and celebrate an early father's day. kron four's terisa estacio explains from san quentin.

(terisa estacio)early in the morning the buses rolled through the gates of san quentin - one of the states toughests prisons, including housing death row inmates. some of these kids had gotten up around 2am to get here. nats -prison gate shutting - and this is what it was all about - front and center with their dads. nats - ugh. meet fernando junior, his uncle, marcos and his dad, fernando senior. besides the prison uniform you might think there was nothing unusual about this family get together sitting playing chess. but fernando has been behind bars since 2011 for assault and battery. this meet up is part of a program started 17 years ago by the state to help nuture the bonds between children and their incarcerated parents. this year, 52 buses will bring nearly 1200 children to

"this is my 3rd time, and it may be my last. more on that in a moment. over here, this hayward family has it's own unique story. eric moody, senior. i have not seen this young one ever. denise moody, i had some issues, couldn't see him for years, but now we are here back. nats: "what is my favorite food." and it wasn't just dads, but grandfathers at this get together. ( marty ) breaking news. police are investigating a murder this morning in vallejo. police received reports of a shooting around 12:30 this morning. it happened on the 400 block of corcoran avenue. when police arrived, the victim was already on the way to the hospital. they later died due to their injuries. police have no provided any further information but we will bring details to you as it enters our newsroom. ( marty ) the convictions of three santa clara county jail guards in the murder of a mentally ill inmate is going to keep the spotlight on the need for reform and oversight in the jail system. the case sparked a call for reform that led to the formation of a civilian-led commission that recommended sweeping changes.

( marty ) diplomas handed out at san ramon valley high school, marking the end to a year that saw the danville school in a negative spotlight. there's been a series of campus controversies involving students. most recently, parents of a student criticized the school's response after their daughter was recorded using the restroom. that video was posted online. school leaders say they have taken more action against two students involved. kron four's charles clifford talked to the victim's last fall, a 17-year-old female student here at san ramon valley high school apparently used a cell phone to video a 16-year-old female student using the restroom. the 17-year-old also posted the video online where it was seen by dozens of other students. when school officials learned about what happened, they suspended the 17-year-old for three days and then allowed her to return to classes and extracurricular activities. the parents of the victim felt that punishment was inadequate.sot says we are throwing the

(terisa estacio)early in the morning the buses rolled through the gates of san quentin - one of the states toughests prisons, including housing death row inmates. some of these kids had gotten up around 2am to get here. nats -prison gate shutting - and this is what it was all about - front and center with their dads. nats - ugh. meet fernando junior, his uncle, marcos and his dad, fernando senior. besides the prison uniform you might think there was nothing unusual about this family get together sitting playing chess. but fernando has been behind bars since 2011 for assault and battery. this meet up is part of a program started 17 years ago by the state to help nuture the bonds between children and their incarcerated parents. this year, 52 buses will bring nearly 1200 children to various prisons. fernando lopez, jr. tried to stop the person but as he grabbed her and told her to turn off the car she drove away. the officer was dragged about 35 feet before he let go and fell to the ground. he suffered minor injuries and went back to work at the scene a little while later. ( marty ) the convictions of three santa clara county jail guards in the murder of a mentally ill inmate is going to keep the spotlight on the need for reform and oversight in the jail system. the case sparked a call for reform that led to the formation of a civilian-led commission that recommended sweeping changes. some of these changes already in place... such as more surveillance cameras along with more psychiatric and medical personnel and crisis intervention training. was posted online. school leaders say they have taken more action against two students involved. kron four's charles clifford talked to the victim's parents. last fall, a 17-year-old female student here at san ramon valley high school apparently used a cell phone to video a 16-year-old female student using the restroom. the 17-year-old also posted the video online where it was seen by dozens of other students. when school officials learned about what happened, they suspended the 17-year-old for three days and then allowed her to return to classes and extracurricular activities. the parents of the victim felt that punishment was inadequate.sot says we are throwing the perpetrator back into the same environment and the same environment my daughters in. she's suffering in.but, upon further review the san ramon valley school district has apparently decided to take additional steps. on friday, the district released this letter which states that "as a result, the district took action to ensure that the two students involved will never be enrolled at the same san ramon valley unified high school campus again."because

of the age of the students involved, the district wouldn't elaborate on exactly what actions they have taken but the parents of the victim say they are encouraged.sot sean lynch says its seems the issue has come to a resolution. sotdenise lynch says the letter that was sent out today is very promising to us.they also hope their daughter can put this behind her and return to school next fall with a fresh start.sotdenise lynch says this is what she always wanted from the beginning. it's a relief for her. coming up... a water park is reopened after a child falls off a water slide in the east bay. we'll explain what the incident means for others who want to visit the park.
