charges filed against two men for the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire. the devastating fire six months ago ripped through a party at that oakland warehouse, killing 36 people. derrick almena and max harris are in custody this morning facing manslaughter charges. kron four's alecia reid has reaction from a former tenant of the warehouse. derek almena was booked into the santa clara jail at 7'o clock this evening...after making a brief court apperance in lake county.the former tenant i spoke with has no sympathy for the two men that were arrested . pkgoh hell no. hell no. hell noooo. i remember they were doing a little gypsy dance when i was leaving and telling them they were gonna pay, so i'm glad this is derek almena's booking photo from this evening. the alameda county district attorney says he and max harris are to blame for the 36 lives that were lost in the ghost ship fire back in

december. i'm not surprised. i'm surprised they haven't been arrested more often for more thingsalmena was arrested earlier today in lake county harris in la. both men have been charged with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter and could face up to 39 years in prison if convicted of all the charges being brought against them.they're animals, they're evil. they're everything i said they were, but they are not the crux of the problem. it's everyone that allowed them to do what they did. there's so much documentation of people not doing their jobs and it just sucks that people had to die before all that shelley mack doesn't believe the two men are the only ones to blame for the deadly blaze. i'm glad they were arrested but they're the low hanging fruit. there were a lot of agencies involved in allowing them to do what they did, including the city, the police department, the fire department, and cps. the housing department, pg&e knew we were therestanduppg&e is one of the companies being sued by families.so far, the agency is cooperating with the

investigation.reporting live from oakland ( james ) six months after the deadly fire - a memorial for the victims remains outside the ghost ship warehouse. donna kellogg was one of the three dozen people killed that december night. her mother says her daughter loved to dance and that is why she went to the warehouse the night of the fire. but she firmly believes donna would not have gone to the party if she knew how unsafe the building was. sue spoke to kron 4 over the phone about the arrests. ( james ) sue says she is relieved that the two men are being held accountable for her daughter's

( james ) our coverage of the ghost ship fire continues online. we have details on the criminal charges filed. we also have information on all 36 victims who died in the fire. it's all at kron 4 dot com ( james ) the man convicted of killing sierra lamar will spend the rest of his life in prison. the jury reached a unanimous decision in the trial against antolin garcia-torres. the jury rejected the prosecution's call for the death penalty. in closing arguments, the defense had urged the jury to spare garcia torres' life. after the decision was announced... kron 4 spoke with sierra's family and some of the volunteers who helped search for her.

rest of his life">( james ) sierra lamar's parents say they're finding ways to move forward while keeping their daughter's memory alive. ( james ) breaking overnight... the death toll in last week's bombing in kabul, afganistan has risen to more than 150. this makes it the deadliest single attack for the country in the 16 years the u-s invaded to take out the taliban. afghanistan president ashraf ghani says more than 300 others are injured. afghan officials say pakistan was involved in the attack, but they have denied involvement. no one has claimed respobility for the attack as of this mroning. ( james ) we have now learned the identity of two of the three men responsible for killing seven people in london over the weekend. andy rose explains why at least one of these men was already on their radar. at a vigil monday, london mayor sadiq khan honored those killed saturday night, and condemned those behind it...

london mayor, sadiq khan: "as a proud, and patriotic british muslim, i say this. you do not commit these disgusting acts in my name... and you will never succeed in dividing our city."authorities have identified two of the three men who carried out the attack. the men, khuram shazad butt and rachid redouane, along with a third man, killed seven and wounded 48 others.butt, was a british citizen who was born in pakistan. police and counterintelligence officials were familiar with him, but say they had no reason to believe an attack was being planned.redouane, 30, had said he was moroccan and libyan. he was not on the authorities' radar. the name of the third attacker has not yet been released.on sunday, authorities descended on the east london neighborhood of barking where at least two of the attackers lived. neighbors were stunned, describing one of the men as a quiet family

get under control. it started yesterday afternoon when a car caught fire and started a grass fire. the c-h-p had to temporarily shutdown several lanes of the highway. the fire burned 25 acres before crews were able to put it out. nobody was injured. ( james ) a shoot out in crockett has the community up in arms. sheriff's deputies counted about 45 casings in the aftermath. now some are pointing the blame at a local bar and music venue. ella sogomonian has more in a story you will only see on kron four. locals aired out their frustration while toot's tavern bar owners stood their ground over the shooting in a meeting at the crokett community center tonight.pkg

bullet holes remain on homes and businesses in downtown crokett after a shootout on may 19th at around 11:30 at night.contra costa sheriff's deputies found about 45 casings.sot: rich haisley, neighbor//"frightens anyone, you think about it somebody could be getting shot." luckily, no one was hurt. locals are pointing the blame at toot's tavern - a bar and music venue that has been at the corner of ceres and second street for more than a century. sot: rich haisley, neighbor// "everything can't be blamed on a bar. the get a bunch of people together though, the more people you have the more problems you have."sot:john simon, business shot//"i've been to toot's many a night and there's been absolutely no issues."off camera a concerned resident said they suspect a hiphop concert that night may have attracted a hostile crowd that led to the shooting. alastair bolton lives in a building that was shot.sot: alastair bolton, home shot//"around 8 rounds hit the building, two of them penetrated windows. it's just crazy." monday night the shooting was brought up in a community meeting. a contra costa county lieutenent and deputy were questioned whether there are enough patrols in the town of around three thousand at last census check.sot: lt. tricia england, contra costa sheriff's office//"crokett is encased in our beat 1 area which also encompasses rodeo so there's one deputy assigned to double duty."the unincorporated town contracts the sheriffs office. deputy

( james ) twitter has been a strong tool for president trump in reaching his base and getting his message out. however, there's growing concern that his tweets may be complicating the legal fight over his controversial executive order on immigration.

have identified the bodies of the five victims. neumann, a former employee of the factory sparred the life of a woman who started working there... after he was fired in april. upon leaving the r-v awning business, the woman called police. classified information. 25-year-old reality leigh winner is accused of printing a classified national security memo and sending it to an online media outlet. she had top secret security clearance while working as a contractor. the memo served as the basis for an article that details a russian cyberattack on an american voting software supplier in 20- 16. winner admitted that she leaked the document and was arrested. intelligence officials say that while russia did get access to some election systems, no votes were affected. ( james ) a san mateo couple claims police went too far during a traffic stop. it started when they say they honked their horn at another driver, and as kron four's j-r stone shows us...it ended with cops drawing their guns. ( james )

they claim the driver they honked at told police they had a gun.nats.this video has now been seen more than 17- thousand times on jennifer thomas's facebook page. it's video that shows her boyfriend, david solano, being ordered to the ground by san mateo police officers. when she yells that david isn't resisting arrest you can see an officer point his gun at her. three days later and she is still thinking about what happened.sot it scared me obviously when i seen him point the gun at me but you can see the 15-20 officers behind me with guns pointed so it was terrifyingthe couple says everything started when they were traveling to safeway to get food for their children. david honked at the car in front of them. the man inside pulled out his phone and started taking pictures of their car, david pulled up beside him, there was a brief argument and the two drove off. it appears the man who was honked at called police saying that david had a gun and made a threat. a short time later the two were pulled

over and officers ordered them out of the car.sot the first words were.put your hands in the f-in airat that point i was like what is going on.the couple tells us they don't own a gun and while david did curse during the argument no threat was made. officers later let them go but they both believe david was lucky to not have been shot when he was ordered to the ground.and they're both now fearful that what happened then could happen again with a much worse outcome. sot i was so scared that he was going to be shot. sot i feel like i'm a prisoner in my house because i can't go out and buy my son milk or diapers or either of my kids i can't go out with my family out of fear of being shot by a cop. not harassed but i feel like we could be shot by a cop. ( james ) the san mateo police department relased this statement overnight. it reads in part: "during this high risk stop, the female passenger in the vehicle

directed an object at officers which was later discovered to be a mobile phone. officers, at that time safely detaining solano for safety, and not knowing whether the alleged firearm was in the vehicle, pointed a firearm at thomas until solano was detained." we've posted the entire response from police on kron4.com ( james ) we now know the name of the suspect in the death of an australian tourist in san francisco. the tourist is identified as 33-year-old matthew bate. he was killed during a fight outside a hotel on van ness avenue. police arrested the suspect inside a nearby hotel. he is 34-year-old david murillo of hesperia -- which is in southern california. murillo is in jail and is expected to be charged with murder. ( james ) the bill cosby rape trial will enter it's second day today. cosby is accused of drugging and raping former temple university employee andrea constand at his home in 2004. during opening statements yesterday... the prosecution painted cosby as a calculated

man who abused his fame. the defense tried to portray cosby as a flawed man who is vulnerable to false accusations because of past infidelities. nearly 50 women have accused cosby of sexual assault. the trial is expected to last at least two weeks. ( james @ landing ) apple kicked off their annual world wide developer conference in san jose. yesterday, they unveiled the new siri powered speaker they call "home pod." it's a voice activated home wi-fi speaker, apple's attempt to take on amazon and their echo device. kron four's gabe slate has more in this morning's tech report. "just like ipod reinvented music in our pockets, home pod will reinvent music in our homes".at its core, home pod, is a wireless speaker it's connected to the internet, your itunes account so the idea is with your voice you order up the music you want to be playedbut playing music is just one of the dozen features home pod can deliver.this is apple's answer to amazon's echo speaker with alexa and

google's similar "home" speaker with the built in google voice assistant with siri built in home pod is a voice assistant sitting in your home waiting to answer your questions or assist you with your digital life. philip schiller /vp, marketing at google says:this was a sneak peek home pod is not hitting the market until december. and when it does it will cost $350.for people who live in an itunes universe use all apple products the home pod would be a better speaker for them than amazon's echo but it's priced so high it could push people away amazon offers the dot alexa speaker for as low as $50."this is new ipad pro" and apple unveiled a new ipad pro with a 10 point 5 inch screen there already is a 9 point seven inch model and the bigger 13 inch model so i'm not sure why they needed this in between $650 size it appears they are still trying to figure out what size tablet

people want the mostapple also unveiled a new line up of imac computers including a first ever - imac pro which they claim will be their fastest mac ever. it features high end, high performance specs it's like the ultimate mac.. but just a tease for most of us it's way to expensive. when it comes out in december it will cost $5,000. the door this morning.... the death toll in last week's suicide bombing in kabul, afganistan has risen to more than 150. this makes it the deadliest single attack in the past 16 years. more than 300 others were injured in the bombing. no one has claimed responsibility for the attack. the city of san francisco has issued subpoenas for ride-sharing companies -- uber and lyft. officials want to investigate drivers' driving records, what neighborhoods they serve, wheter they create hazards on the road and how accessible their cars are for the disabled. the city says it wants to ensure the companies are following state laws that require equal accommodations for everybody. former 49ers quarterback colin kaepernick will remain a free agent as of this morning. the seattle seahawks announced they have signed quarterback austin davis. there were several rumors linking kaepernick and seattle. head coach pete carroll says davis fits the team better but believes kaepernick should still remain in the n-f-l. ( james ) harvard university has revoked admission offers to at least 10 prospective freshmen over offensive online messages. insiders at the ivy league university say the students posted images and comments in a private facebook group mocking sexual assault, the holocaust and minorities. harvard tells admitted students that offers can be withdrawn for behavior that brings into question their honesty, maturity or moral character. ( james ) fremont police announced a new exchange zone for the public to make safe online transactions. the exchange zone is located in- front of fremont's police department parking lot. the space is meant to eliminate potential scams. the parking lot is well-lit and it has 24 hour video surveillance. police are advising parents they should ánotá use this place as a pick-up and drop-off zone for their kids.

( james ) we told you a few weeks ago about danville setting up an exchange zone of its own. the city has now has 24-hour video surveillance and is outside the main city offices. no appointment is necessary to use it. you just need to work out a meeting time with the person you're making a transaction with. ( james ) bay area basketball. the warriors are off today after taking a commanding 2 nothing series lead against the cleveland cavaliers in the n-b-a finals. this is a familiar position, the team started 2 nothing last year but then lost the series. and as kron four's mark carpenter reports, the team knows its far from over. despite winning the first two games in convincing fashion, the warriors know better than to get comfortable. last season, they took games 1 and 2 by a combined 48 points, only to get blown out in game 3 in cleveland. so hopefully, they've played their last game at oracle and wrap the season

(take vo)both almena and max harris could face up to 39- years in prison if convicted. almena lived in and operated the wherehouse and max harris lived in the wherehouse and is accused of helping plan the party where the fire broke out. almena was arrested in lake county before being

in downtown crockett after a gun fight on may 19th. sheriff's deputies counted about 45 casings in the aftermath of that shooting. locals were pointing the blame at "toot's tavern" during a community meeting last night. they say that a concert that night may have attracted a hostile crowd that led to the shootings. ( mark ) the bar's owner says that this is the first incident of its kind after one of their concerts. he believes this was a drive by shooting that started somewhere else. ( darya ) highway 24 in orinda is back open this morning after a fire burned along the road. it took firefighters several hours to get under control. it started yesterday afternoon when a car caught fire and started a grass fire. the c-h-p had to temporarily shutdown several lanes of the highway. the fire burned

(anny) the third attacker has been identified as 22-year-old youssef zaghba. this is his picture... just into the newsroom. police say he is an italian national of moroccan descent. he was living in east london and he was not known to police or intelligence agencies. ( anny ) yesterday... british police released the names of the other two terrorists behind the deadly attack. they are khuram shazad butt and rachid redouane. one of the attackers was a british citizen who was born in pakistan. police and intelligence officials were familiar with him, but they say they had no reason to believe an attack was being planned. people who knew the attackers are in disbelief they were involved.

25-year-old reality leigh winner is accused of printing a classified national security memo and sending it to an online media outlet. she had top secret security clearance while working as a contractor. the memo served as the basis for an article that details a russian cyberattack on an american voting software supplier in 20- 16. winner admitted that she leaked the document and was arrested. intelligence officials say that while russia did get access to some election systems, no votes were affected. ( mark ) fremont police announced a new exchange zone for the public to make safe online transactions. the exchange zone is located in- front of fremont's police department parking lot. the space is meant to eliminate potential scams. the parking lot is well-lit and it has 24 hour video surveillance. exchanges must be made in person. police are advising parents they should ánotá use this place as a pick-up and drop-off zone for their kids. this is the second safe zone established in the east bay. last month the city of danville established it's own exchange zone outside the main city offices. ( mark ) the city of san francisco is going after ride-sharing companies -- uber and lyft. the city has issued subpoenas for both companies. officials want to investigate drivers' driving records, what neighborhoods they serve, wheter they create hazards on the road and how accessible their cars are for the disabled. about 45- thousand drivers work in the city but some come from southern california to work in san francisco. the city says it wants to ensure the companies are following state

( darya ) the bill cosby rape trial will enter it's second day today. cosby is accused of drugging and raping former temple university employee andrea constand at his home in 2004. during opening statements yesterday... the prosecution painted cosby as a calculated man who abused his fame. the defense tried to portray cosby as a flawed man who is vulnerable to false accusations because of past infidelities. nearly 50 women have accused cosby of sexual assault. the trial is expected to last at least two weeks. ( darya ) breaking overnight... the death toll in last week's suicide bombing in kabul, afganistan has risen to more than 150. this makes it the deadliest single attack in the past 16 years. more than 300 others were injured in the bombing. afghan officials say pakistan was involved in the attack, but pakistan has denied any involvement. no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

jennifer thomas's facebook page. it's video that shows her boyfriend, david solano, being ordered to the ground by san mateo police officers. when she yells that david isn't resisting arrest you can see an officer point his gun at her. three days later and she is still thinking about what happened.sot it scared me obviously when i seen him point the gun at me but you can see the 15-20 officers behind me with guns pointed so it was terrifyingthe couple says everything started when they were traveling to safeway to get food for their children. david honked at the car in front of them. the man inside pulled out his phone and started taking pictures of their car, david pulled up beside him, there was a brief argument and the two drove off. it appears the man who was honked at called police saying that david had a gun and made a threat. a short time later the two were pulled over and officers ordered them out of the car.sot the first words were.put your hands in the f-in airat that point i

( mark ) happening today... the california supreme court will hear arguments on whether to block the voter-approved measure to speed up executions. opponents of the death penalty say the new policy would disrupt the courts and cost more money. proposition 66 was approved by voters in november. it would appoint more appellate lawyers, assign some cases to trial judges and set a five-year deadline to complete the appeals process. supporters of prop 66 say today's court hearing is a stall tactic that would hault what the voters approved. ( darya ) a sacramento paramedic has been arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor sexual battery... after he is accused of groping a woman having seizures. according to police, the paramedic and an intern were transporting a

19-year-old woman who was suffering from a seizure to the hospital. that is when police say the paramedic groped the woman. two weeks later the intern reported the paramedic to police. that's when investigators reached out to the woman who says even though she was having a seizure... she remembered the incident and could feel what was happening to ( mark ) in southern california.. sheriff's deputies have now identified a father and son killed in a plane crash over the weekend. 57-year-old james harlan and his 15-year-old son dylan died in the crash on sunday in ventura county. james harlan had his own travel agency and wrote a book about surviving a plane crash in costa rica. witnesses say the plane was flying above treetops before it crashed in a horse arena. ( lydia )one of the men arrested, derick almena was transferred here to the alameda county jail last night. (take vo)both almena and max harris could face up to 39- years in prison if convicted. almena lived in and operated the wherehouse and max harris lived in the wherehouse and is accused of helping plan the party where the fire broke out. almena was arrested in lake county before being transferred to alameda county and harris was arrested in los angeles county. both arrests happened early monday morning.

( anny ) yesterday... british police released the names of the other two terrorists behind the deadly attack. they are khuram shazad butt and rachid redouane. one of the attackers was a british citizen who was born in pakistan. police and intelligence officials were familiar with him, but they say they had no reason to believe an attack was being planned. people who knew the attackers are in disbelief they were involved. 25-year-old reality leigh winner is accused of printing a classified national security memo and sending it to an online media outlet. she had top secret security clearance while working as a contractor. the memo served as the basis for an article that details a russian cyrattk on an american voting software supplier in 20- 16. winner admitted that she leaked the document and was arrested. intelligence officials say that while russia did get access to some election systems, no votes were affected. ( darya ) some people in crokett are blaming a local bar after a shootout nearby. bullet holes are still in several homes and businesses in downtown crockett after a gun fight on may 19th. sheriff's deputies counted about 45 casings in the aftermath of that shooting. locals were pointing the blame at "toot's tavern" during a community meeting last night. they say that a concert that night may have attracted a hostile crowd that

( darya ) highway 24 in orinda is back open this morning after a fire burned along the road. it took firefighters several hours to get under control. it started yesterday afternoon when a car caught fire and started a grass fire. the c-h-p had to temporarily shutdown several lanes of the highway. the fire burned 25 acres before crews were able to put it out. nobody was injured. ( mark ) fremont police announced a new exchange zone for the public to make safe online transactions. the exchange zone is located in-

front of fremont's police department parking lot. the space is meant to eliminate potential scams. parkinglois well-lit and it has 24 hour video surveillance. exchanges must be made in rson. police are advising parents they should ánotá use this place as a pick-up and drop-off zone for their kids. this is the second safe zone established in the east bay. last month the city of danville established it's own exchange zone outside the main city offices. ( mark ) the city of san francisco is going after ride-sharing companies -- uber and lyft. the city has issued subpoenas for both companies. officials want to investigate drivers' driving records, what neighborhoods they serve, wheter they create hazards on the road and how accessible their cars are for the disabled. about 45- thousand drivers work in the city but some come from southern california to work in san francisco. the city says it wants to ensure the companies are following state laws that require equal accommodations for everybody. ( anny @ land ) cosby is accused of drugging and raping former temple university employee andrea constand at his home in 2004. during opening statements yesterday... the prosecution painted cosby as a calculated man who abused his fame. the defense tried to portray cosby as a flawed man who is vulnerable to false accusations because of past infidelities. nearly 50 women have accused cosby of rape, but only one will be allowed to testify. prosecutors called kelly johnson to the witness stand. she accused cosby of raping her in 19-96 when she worked for his agent.

( mark ) happening now... police are looking for a 43-year-old woman suspected of stabbing her daughter and two grandaughters near san bernardino. her one- year-old granddaughter was killed in that stabbing on monday morning. nicole darrington-clark was once found ánot guilty by reason of insanity to attempted murder of her own children back in 2005. she was sent to a mental hospital, and released a few years ago. now police believe she killed her grandaughter and critically injured her five-year-old granddaughter and her daughter. police say after the attack she left the apartment she shared with the victims. ( mark ) a former oakland police officer pleads not guilty for his role in the o-p-d sex scandal. brian bunton is charged with obstruction of justice and a misdemeanor prostitution charge. he entered his plea in court yesterday.

prosecutors argue that bunton should have arrested jasmine abuslin, formerly known as celeste guap, but instead encouraged her to continue to work as a prostitute. abuslin claims her relationship with bunton started when she was only 12-years-old and that he tipped her off about an undercover prostitution sting in oakland. several other officers from oakland and other police departments also face charges for their alleged involvement with abuslin. ( darya ) we now know the name of the suspect in the of an australian tourist in san francisco. the tourist is identified as 33-year-old matthew bate. he was killed during a fight outside a hotel on van ness avenue. police arrested the suspect inside a nearby hotel. he is 34-year-old david murillo of hesperia -- which is in southern california. murillo is in jail and is expected to be charged with murder. ( darya ) changes could be coming to the u-s' airline travel industry. president trump announced that he wants to privatize the country's air

( mark ) a san mateo couple claims police went too far during a recent traffic stop.( darya ) they say it started when they honked their horn at another driver. kron 4's j-r stone has the story. they claim the driver they honked at told police they had a gun.nats. this video has now been seen more than 17-thousand times on jennifer thomas's facebook page. it's video that shows her boyfriend, david solano, being ordered to the ground by san mateo police officers. when she yells that david isn't resisting arrest you can see an officer point his gun at her. three days later and she is still thinking about what happened.sot it scared me obviously when i seen him point the gun at me but you can see the 15-20 officers
