(vicki) one of the men charged in the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire in oakland... is back in alameda county tonight. derick almena, the founder of the ghost ship warehouse, was booked into the santa clara jail overnight after making a brief court appearance in lake county yesterday. almena and another man, max harris have both been charged with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter. the devastating fire in december ripped through a party at the oakland warehouse, killing 36 people. both face up to 39 years in prison if convicted. almena's defense team is scheduled to host a public news conference this friday - at the pier five law offices. (vicki) the man accused of killing an australian urist dung a fight in san francisco - pleaded not guilty today. 34-year-old david murillo, of san bernardino county, is facing several charges including involuntary manslaughter... related to the death of 33-year-old matthew bate. bate was killed during a fight outside a hotel on van ness avenue. during his arraignment today - murillo's attorney argues that murillo was involved in a three on three fight... and that this could have happened to anyone. however, the district attorny's office says it was an unprovoked attack. murillo is being held on a

100-thousand dollar bail... and is due back in court on friday. a man police say was posing as a message therapist in order to sexually assault women has pleaded not guilty to the crimes. jose garcia plascencia was arrested in april. police say he was running a massage parlor out of his garage. prosecutors say 15 women have come forward to report abuse in cases dating back to 2011. lawyers for plascencia say the accusations are exaggerated. plascencia remains out of custody on 450 thousand dollars bail on the condition that he not engage in any massage-related business. (steve) new at 6 a woman has been arrested for attempted homicide after berkeley police say she put meth in a childs mouth. officers say it happened yesterday afternoon at the people's park in berkeley. police say 36 year old sayyadina thomas approached a 2 year old little boy and put something in his mouth. the child's nanny immediately called 911. as thomas was being taken to the holding facility she revealed that it was methamphetamine that she put in the childs mouth. the child is being treated at the hospital. the suspect is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. ( catherine ) in the east bay: an uber driver is out on bail tonight after being arrested and accused of sexual battery. moraga police say they arrested 42-year-old leonid beker at the end of may. a woman told

investigators she'd taken an uber from oakland to moraga. but before it the driver reached her destination... he stopped... got into the backseat and attacked her. investigators say evidence - including surveillance video - led them to beker. moraga police say they want people to see his photo - because they're concerned there could be other victims.. ( steve )one of the men arrested in the deadly ghost ship fire investigation remains behind bars tonight. derick almena faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and is being held at the main alameda county jail in dublin. he is suppose to be arraigned thursday morning. almena is one of two men being charged in the case, another suspect is currently in jail in los angeles. the fire last december killed 36 people who were attending a party. at this time, the building's owner has not been charged. almena's lawyers are planning to hold a news conference about the case on friday. (steve) in the south bay. a former san francisco 49ers cornerback was arraigned on felony domestic violence charges in a san jose courtroom just a few hours ago.

police say 28 year old tramaine brock punched his girlfriend in the face and tried to strangle her in early april. at the time of the attack, she was holding their 1 year old child. brock's 31-year-old girlfriend told officers the violence was sparked over an argument about what to watch on t-v. brock has also been charged with misdemeanor child endangerment. if convicted, he would face up to five years in prison. ( catherine) in san francisco. the man accused of killing an australian tourist during a fight - pleaded not guilty today. 34-year-old david murillo, of san bernardino county, is facing several charges including involuntary manslaughter... the man who died -- 33-year-old matthew bate. he was killed during a fight outside a san francisco hotel on van ness avenue. during his arraignment today - murillo's attorney argued that murillo was involved in a fight that could have happened to anyone. but the district attorney's office calls it an

unprovoked attack. murillo is being held on a 100-thousand dollar bail... and is due back in court friday. ( catherine ) happening tonight: the city of hayward is considering whether to become a sanctuary city. the meeting is scheduled for 7 p-m at city hall. if the city adopts the resolution declaring itself a sanctuary city, it would join a growing list in the bay area. but it would also risk putting federal funding at risk. the white house has moved to cut off grants to sanctuary cities, although the executive order is being challenged in the courts. ( steve ) police investigating a central valley missing person case uncover an alleged plot by a stage 4 cancer victim to kill his doctors.( catherine ) the doctors that man is accused of trying to kill - work at stanford and u-c-s-f. kron4's maureen kelly says that evidence found in the man's car have police believing that the threat was very real.

a police probable cause afidavit includes photos of a mask, one of two handguns loaded with high capacity ammo.a notebook with directions to his intended victim's homes.and a manifesto. the typed letter reads why do i kill?1. revenge. 2. to tell professional people that you can't treat people like animals.but we have no doubt in her mind based on the evidence that was collected that he was intent on coming here and killing one or more of that at the doctors that are treating himthis is a mug shot of the suspect.a stage 4 cancer patient named yue chen. the 58 year old was reported missing by his family in visaliaand when police arrived they found evidence indicating that there was something more sinister at work.they were able to develop the information that he had this grudge against these

doctors are there also able to figure out that he had a couple of firearms registered to him which they were able to figure out where on accounted for that time so that's what gave them significant positive and they correctly decided to take it very seriously and assume that he was armed and in route here so a be on the lookout bulletin was issued for chen and law enforcment in at least five cities where the oncologists lived or works were put on notice that an man believed to be an armed homicidal assailant was his way to the bay area. the chp stopped chen's rental car on 101 at hellyer in san jose. he was taken into custody without incident.the avidavit says that chen told investigators he drive to an area he believed one of the doctors lived before he was apprehended. he's been arraigned on three counts of attempted murder . he's expected to enter a plea june 28th. maureen kelly kron4 news ( steve ) one of seven men accused in the killing of an oakland mother has entered a no contest plea. 30-year-old chyemil pierce was shot to death in march of 2015. prosecutors say she was an innocent bystander that got caught in the middle of gun battle between two groups. 32-year-old jerry harbin agreed to plead no contest to manslaughter charge... a jury had been deliberating his fate. three men who stood trial along with harbin were convicted last week. at least two other suspects in the case are expected to go to trial later this year. apartment building fire injured two firefighters and forced evacuations in stockton today... heavy black smoke was visible from the top of the building on el dorado street. the fire broke out around 7:30 am and a nearby business owner notified firefighters. the upper floors and attic of the building were damaged and 15 residents were evacuated.it took crews more than two hours to put the fire out.. there's no word yet on what caused it..
