a moment 21 years in the making. a driver caught "riding dirty." stanely roberts explains on this edition of people behaving badly. what are you doing in the carpool lane? i was trying to get over on the other side cause i got to get to a job site so but i got closer i figured ok i'll just move over but it got to packed over there and i'm like awwwww normally i don't do that.. this is a classic story about someone riding dirty but following the rules to avoid detection until said person makes one costly error the carpool lane in san jose ends
4:42 am
at 9 am .but at eight fifty-five i hear this keep an eye on that van sarge. the white van the driver is instructed by the sargent to pull over, a stop which may go down in the history books. this is one of those moments when having a logo on your company truck might just be a bad idea good morning sir the reason why i stopped you, you're driving solo in the carpool lane.that's when something happened apparently the driver told officer morasca (more rosco) of the san jose office of the california highway patrol that his license was suspended (what happened to your driver's license?) i lost those a long time ago (long pause) way back in the days (so you been driving without a license for years? this your company?) no i work for a different company (does he know you don't have a license) pretty much i told him about it i don't know if he remembers or not but ha, i told him when he first hired me.so just how long was he riding dirty .it was effective april 1 of 1996 nope
4:43 am
that wasn't an april fools joke oh april 1, 1996 he license was suspended for a dui conviction . so why ride dirty and jump in the carpool lane illegallybecause i was trying to get over to the other side before i got to this part (we saw you but i couldn't get over) i was like oh manso now this is when reality sank in he now has to call his boss just let him know the vehicle if going to be towed he was issued a ticket for driving in the carpool illegally which carries a 491 dollar fine and driving on a suspended license yout license has been revoked for the last 21 years .that long?this carries a 695 dollar fine and two points.oh and the van goes to car jail for one day until the registered owner can retrieve it and the driver was given a ride off the freeway you know who i am right (no actually i don't) i do a segment called people behaving badly channel 4 (oh really yea my wife watches you once) and a while now she's gong to see you huh (i know huhoh great) in san jose
