area. this will cause major traffic delays. several big events are planned as the offical start of summer kicked off earlier this week. it is pride weekend... there are several big events planned in san francisco, including the pride parade tomorrow. it is also nascar weekend in sonoma county. the big race is tomorrow but there a lot of other events starting today. first, let's check in with kron four's hermela aregawi who shows us what you need to know about pride weekend. the annual pride weekend kicked off with the trans march.where thousands rallied for lgbtq rights.gail stern/attendee: i love the transgender parade. i've been here every year. i love how it's growing and its being more popular. and i love the growing acceptance.jshon thomas/attendee: transgender people represent what it means to be a human in our species

people could be attending the 47th- annual san francisco pride celebration. there will be a series of events starting today with a rally taking place in the civic center at noon. and tomorrow morning, the city will be hosting the parade along market street and ending on 8th street. that is followed by another rally at the civic center. ( will ) and several streets in downtown san francisco are closed because of pride. many of the street closures actually started thursday morning and will end sunday afternoon. some of the closures are along steuart, spear and main streets. for more information on street closures, and a list of events visit us on kron- four dot com. ( will ) this weekend is also the nascar race at the sonoma raceway. if you are traveling through the north

bay, expect major traffic delays on highway 37 and 121. officials say try to avoid the area unless you will be attending the race. this is a three day event that began yesterday and will end tomorrow with the race. the race starts at noon tomorrow and the gates open at 7:00 in the morning. but there are practices and qualifying today, so you should expect heavy traffic in the area all weekend long. ( will ) now to a story you will only see on kron four. police say they've arrested a grandmother who took her grandson on a beer run for child endangerment. she's accused of putting the 12- year-old on a motorcycle in rohnert park. the boy was then hit by a truck and is now in the hospital with serious injuries. kron four's ella sogomonian has the story.

on cam: a grandmother is accused of child endangerment a second time after her grandson was run over by a truck in rohnert park during a beer run friday morning just after 8.pkg: california highway patrol report 56-year-old theresa miranda took the 12 year old on a beer run riding these two 80- cc motorcycles separately - neither of which are street legal.on their way back home here on todd road and primrose avenue the boy swerved in front of a truck.sot: lauren roy, neighbor// "i heard sean was hit call 911. and the lady was screaming and running around and pounding on the door across the street."a chp spokesperson explains the driver of the truck couldn't avoid hitting the boy. sot: jonathan sloat, california highway patrol// "it was a very narrow country road with no shoulders or bike lane so it was a very dangerous thing to do."so miranda's grandson fell into a drainage ditch and the truck crossed over him.the boy was transferred to the oakland children's hospital with severe injuries. sot: lauren roy, neighbor// "i didn't know whether he was dead or alive but pretty soon i heard him moan so i knew that he was alive."his sister told kron 4 off camera they believe he will be okay but the parents are upset with the grandma.miranda was arrested for felony child endangerment

for your health: here is a look at some of the new medical findings released this week: a growing number of americans are taking too much vitamin d. doctors say three-percent of american adults are takin doses linked to serious side effects-- including kidney stones, cancer, and even death. doctors say while vitamin d is generally a good thing-- too much vitamin d can damage soft tissues, including kidneys and the heart. experts say if you're young and otherwise healthy, and you get enough sun exposure, you don't need to take vitamin d supplements.. the los angeles county sheriff's department says the father of a 5-year-old who has been missing for two months has been arrested on suspicion of his son's murder. 35-year-old aramazd andressian senior was arrested on friday afternoon in las vegas. he is being held there on 10

million dollars bail. investigators have been searching for 5-year-old son since his father was found passed out in a park in south pasadena in late april. the father was initially arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, but was later released. more information is expected to come out on monday. a woman in oakland is making an emotional plea for help finding her missing pup. someone broke into the woman's apartment and stole her small dog named zoey on thursday. as kron4's charles clifford reports, zoey's owner is heartbroken. natssotit's was on the ground. . . .thursday afternoon, destiny webster came home from work to find the screen on her bedroom window smashed and the window open. inside, someone had rummaged through her belongings and taken her ipad, camera and

some jewelry. but most troubling of all, destiny's 2 year old tea cup yorkie zoey was missing. the pup should have been locked inside this cage but she's nowhere to be found. destiny is devastated. sotshe is the sweetest spirit i've ever known and i want her back.destiny called 911 and opd is investigating but so far there's no sign of the missing pup. zoey wasn't wearing her collar at the time and she doesn't have a microchip.destiny is now trying to get the word out through efsocial media. she's also putting up posters and calling everyone she knows for help.sotcalling family and friends. really hitting social media.destiny also hopes that whoever took zoey will bring her back.soti know that whatever you're going through must be hard but my dog had nothing to do with that. zoey has been my my spirit animal since i got her and she means everything to me. please bring her back. no questions asked. you can keep everything else. just please bring my dog back to me.

we have been telling you about the 'grab and run' robberies at victoria's secret stores. now, police say they have caught a few female thieves red-handed. these are some of the items recovered yesterday. the latest crime happened yesterday afternoon in walnut creek. several women entered the store stuffed items into bags and took off. officers were able to stop the women not far from the store. they say they found not only items from walnut creek -- but also from concord. three women were arrested police are now trying to

getting our first look at the man police say opened fire on co-workers inside a san francisco u-p-s facility. three people were killed before the gunman took his own life. and as kron four's dan kerman reports, investigators say the killer targeted his colleagues. this is jimmy lam, the ups employee who shot and killed 3 co-workers before killing himself. at a news conference friday afternoon, police said lam opened fire without a word

during a morning meetingsot cmdr. greg mceachern/san francisco police 15-25police say this is the mac 10 assault pistol with a 30 bullet clip, that lam used to fire 20 rounds. as ups employees began to scatter or hide, police say security video showed lam calmly walking outside the buildingsotpolice believe the three victims were targetedsotlam eventually killed himself when confronted by police a motive remains unknown, though police have recovered a journal, several cell phone and a computer.

after falling from a cliff in san francisco has been identified. according to the corner's report, she is 17-year-old victoria larocca from corte madera. she fell off a cliff near the legion of honor museum at around 6:30 thursday night. after finding her near lands end... rescuers transported to her china beach where she later died. larocca was a student at saint ignatius college preparatory school. she would have been a senior in the fall. ( will ) in the east bay. police are investigating the death of a 102-year- old woman as 'suspicious'. mildred williams was found unconscious in her east oakland home last weekend. police were called to the house on 22nd avenue just before 1:30 sunday morning. one person was detained at the scene, but that person has since been released pending further investigation. ( will ) a warning this morning for people selling their homes. thieves are targeting houses with for sale signs out front. kron

four's spencer blake shows us just how big a problem these kind of crimes are becoming. putting up a 'for sale' sign is the quickest way to let people know your home is on the marketand it might also be making your house look like fresh meat for a burglar."we noticed a trend where, since the beginning of may, we had five residences that were for sale, but were vacant, and that they had been burglarized."lieutenant damiean sylvester says that's a high number for benicia, but points out that break-ins of homes for sale are also on the rise throughout the bay area. the benicia police department posted about it on facebook, to remind people that their homes should never áappear vacant, even if they are. "burglars have actually broken in and began living in the residence itself, until we were notified."in other cases, burglars stole electronics.one real estate agent tells kron four some people came to an open house she was hosting near the border of benicia and vallejoand left with her purse and credit cards.in the two squatter cases, police were able to trace cars and license plates to the

suspects.t"we're not releasing their names right now - it's an active investigation - but we have identified two people that are leads in the case." they haven't been arrested, though, because they're suspects in other burglary cases around the bay area, so officers have to coordinate with other jurisdictions. sylvester says anyone putting a house for sale should talk with their realtor about the issue, and make sure valuables are either secure, or not in the empty home at all.he asks real estate agencies for help - if they let police know which homes are vacant, officers can patrol those areas a little more heavily. ( will ) police in santa rosa have arrested five people who are accused of doing side shows inside local parking lots. the arrests were made last night after weeks of investigating. the side shows have been happening inside the parking lot of the santa rosa marketplace on friday nights. people have complained about drinking, loitering and loud music coming from the sideshows. officers made the arrests after setting up surveillance cameras in the area. the men arrested are 18 to 27

the los angeles county sheriff's department says the father of a 5-year-old who has been missing for two months has been arrested on suspicion of his son's murder. 35-year-old aramazd andressian senior was arrested on friday afternoon in las vegas. he is being held there on 10 million dollars bail. investigators have been searching for 5-year-old son since his father was found passed out in a park in south pasadena in late april. the father was initially arrested on suspicion of child endangerment, but was later released. more information is expected to come out on monday. a woman in oakland is making an emotional plea for help finding her missing pup.
