( james ) police are working to determine if human remains found stuffed in bags are related to the case of a missing san francisco father. kron four's j-r stone spoke with police about bob tang, the main person of interest in the disappearance. all eyes are now on bob tang more than 48 hours after human remains were recovered in this

hayward warehouse. tang is the person of interest in the disappearance of uber driver piseth chhay. now dna test are being done to determine if those remains are chhay's.sot mr. chhay and mr. tang are aquantances and have dealt with each other in the past.in fact it appears they did more than just deal with each other. the morning chhay went missing the two were together according to what his wife told us lasst month.sot hiking together that morningthe human remains were found in several bags in this warehouse. employees tell us tang had worked at this warehouse for more than 20 years.it is believed that tang fled to cambodia in may. his car was previously recovered at sfo. monday we went to the area where tang had lived with his wife and children who still live there. no one answered the door and when our cameras were far from that door, at least one family member left. neighbors say tang was quiet but a nice person who was

helpful. some who live in the neighborhood say if tang is in cambodia there's no telling when police will get to talk with him.sot if he is in cambodia and he is up country and doesn't want to be found it is going to be very difficult to find anybody sunday night chhay's wife was in tears when we spoke to her. hoping the remains found are not that of her husband.others flat out disgusted over this latest recovery of human remains found in bags.sot i believe in the fundamental goodness of people and when you find somebody who has carved up a body that is just totally mean and i don't expect things like that i just don't. arrested and accused of crimes involving children. investigators say he sent inappropriate text messages to young members of the swim team. this is the suspect: timothy nguyen . he worked as an assistant coach at "quicksilver swim team" in san jose. kron four's alecia reid has the story and reaction from parents. there are a number of age groups that swim with quicksilver. police say between december of 2015 and january of this year, assistant coach timothy nguyen targeted at least 3 victims. ughhhh really sad. really really sadthe 25 year old allegedly earned his victims trust, then asked for nude photos or sexual favors from both the boys and girls he targeted. he even tried pursuing a relationship with one of them.oh my goodness that's pretty badmark ooka you kinda get desensitized to it. i mean it's still unfortunate but it's still like ehhhit was the quicksilver swim team that reached out to police back in

may. the internet crimes against children and child exploitation detail arrested nguyen on thursday. he's being charged with annoying or molesting a child under the age of 18, and intimidating or persuading a witness or victim. i just feel bad for the kids because now where do they go with that? are they going to be able to trust and be successful for another coach? because he's broken that trust. police are urging any other victims to step forward. reporting in san jose ( james ) one person is hospitalized after a house fire in castro valley. it happened last night on carlton avenue. people living in

the home were able to get out before firefighters arrived. one person had to be taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation... but we're told that person is going to be okay. firefighters were also able to save the family's two dogs. no word yet on what started the fire. ( james ) a judge dismissed two felony counts of conspiracy to obstruct justice against a former oakland police officer. it happened after prosecutors refused to disclose the name of a confidential informant in the prostitution case yesterday. 27-year-old ryan walterhouse still faces one misdemeanor count of engaging in an act of prostitution. a prostitute testified that walterhouse gave her his number and solicited her for sex after he met her while patrolling in oakland last year. walterhouse resigned from the oakland police department in december. this case is ánotá related to the police sex scandal involving a woman formerly known as celeste guap. ( james ) the white house says they have found potential evidence that syria is preparing for another chemical

weapons attack. officials say the potential attack would likely result in the mass murder of civilians, including children. the white house has made it clear that if syria conducts another chemical attack they will pay a heavy price. earlier this year, the u-s ordered air strikes against syrian government forces. they fired 59- tomahawk cruise missiles following a chemical attack on civilians by the syrian government. ( james ) the u-s supreme court is allowing some parts of president trump's revised travel ban to go into effect. we first broke this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. people from six muslim-majority countries will be barred from entering the country for 90 days -- unless they can provide evidence of links to the u-s -- such as family, a college admission, or a job offer. the white house said the ban was for national security reasons -- not religious ones. the court will hear full arguments on the travel ban in the fall. ( james ) here in the bay area, travelers we spoke to say they are not happy parts of the travel ban have been reinstated. kron four's ella sogomonian shows us the reaction from s-f-o. san francisco international airport travelers are puzzled why the supreme court has chosen to uphold a trump administration travel ban for yemen, somalia, syria, sudan, and libiya.sot: aamir akmal, opposed to travel ban//the list of countries they've

( james ) major wildfires are making this an especially long, hot summer on the west coast. tens of thousands of acres have been scorched in a number of states and they're likely to continue. reid binion reports. thick clouds of smoke are blanketing parts of the west coast this week.california is among the states affected. the manzanita wildfire has already scorched roughly 12- hundred acres... and counting. the fast-moving fire was ignited after a traffic collision and has authorities warning residents about possible evacuations.over in utah, the brian head fire, which started ten-days ago, has grown to about 46-thousand acres.and mother nature isn't helping the crews.sean

johnson, operations chief "there's no break in the weather anticipated for at least the next seven to ten days so how do we continue doing this? we strategize, we make good plans, we ensure the safety of firefighters and the public, we make sure that we're moving in the right directions."that includes a new incident command center for those battling the blaze. earl slack/facilities manager: "what we literally do is set up an entire city, which includes communications, showering, catering, porta potties." more than 15-hundred people in that area have been evacuated due to fires throughout the state.officials say nearly 15-hundred structures are still threatened.meanwhile in arizona, crews are battling several fires as temperatures are expected in the triple digits. i'm reid binion reporting. ( james @ landing) another big story we're following this morning. a man who was swept down the upper yuba river in nevada county says he can not believe he is alive.. the team that rescued him says he was only a few feet from death. and the dramatic rescue was all caught on camera. lonnie wong talked to the man and has the story.

( james ) 22 million americans could lose their health insurance under the new senate republican health care bill. that's according to a report by the congressional budget office. and now some republicans are jumping ship...saying they won't vote for it. scott mclean has

the details. sen. chuck schumer/ -d- new york: "the cbo report makes it clear, the senate bill is every bit as "mean" as the house bill"twenty-two million. that's how many more americans would be without health insurance by 2026, if the proposed senate gop health care bill passes, according to the congressional budget office report.like the house version of the bill that passed in may, this version would end enhanced medicaid expansion, eliminate coverage mandates, and allow insurers to charge older policyholders more. and while premiums would be down about 20% over the next 10 years for the average customer, those in the individual market would be hit with dramatic increases for services. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell is scrambling to shore up votes for the bill, but these new numbers may not help. sen. john mccain/ -r- arizona: "well, obviously, it's not good news. and, so it'll have to be a factor, but the important factor is my state is a medicare expansion state, and, so we have a lot of issues. right now, the governor's initial impression

( james ) police say a southern california father killed his five-year-old boy after a trip to disneyland.. in order to get back at his wife after their divorce. the boy's father has been charged with murder. aramazd andressian senior was arrested friday in las vegas, about two- months after his son's disappearance. andressian was supposed to drop off his son with his mother but was later found unconscious inside a car doused in gasoline. if convicted, he faces up to 25-years to life in prison. ( james ) the effort to recall superior court judge aaron persky has taken a big first step. persky was criticized for what many called a lenient sentence for a former stanford athlete.

brock turner was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman who was unconscious. he was sentenced to just six months in jail. backers of the recall say that they will begin collecting the 58-thousand signatures needed to qualify the recall for the june 2018 ballot. landing ) officials in new york say a teenage girl's own action caused her to fall out of a ride at an amusement park. this happened over the weekend, at a six flags park near albany, new york. the 14-year-old was riding the sky ride gondola with her brother - when she slipped. anya tucker has the story. he warren county sheriff's office says they've reviewed security video taken near the ride and are now considering

girl who got separated from her family ended up getting beat up by the girl's parents. police say it was all a misunderstanding. this happened in florida. the man was walking toward the parking lot of a park with the little girl. when the girl's father saw him, police say he assumed he was a child predator and that's when he punched the man several times. the man who was beaten did ánotá file any charges against the girl's family. ( james ) back here in the bay area. the sonoma-marin area rail transit district is offering free preview rides on its smart train. it is happening between rohnert park and the marin civic center stations starting on thursday. the district will also run trains between the sonoma county airport station and the marin county fair at the marin civic center on july first and july fourth. the free preview is in advance of full regular train service between

( lydia )police say 25-year old timothy nguyen formed a bond with the children by talking about swimming classes but that soon turned in a different direction.(take vo) police say after nguyen earned his victims trust he then asked for nude photos or sexual favors from both boys and girls on the quicksilver swim team.the quicksilver swim is a private youth swimming organization that operates out of gunderson high school in south san jose.nguyen was the assistant coach.he is charged with annoying or molesting a child under 18 and intimidating or persuading a witness or victim.

( anny ) we went to the home of bob tang and nobody answered the door. but shortly after we knocked somebody did leave the house. tang is the main suspect in the disappearance of piseth chhay. d-n-a tests are being done to determine if remains found in the east bay over the weekend match chhay's who has been missing since mother's day. police are continuing to look for bob tang after human remains were found at a hayward warehouse on saturday. employees at the warehouse say tang worked there for more than 20 years. chhay and tang were friends, and chhay's

wife says the two were together the morning chhay went missing. police believe tang fled to cambodia in may. his car was previously recovered at s-f-o. tang's neighbors spoke to kron four after the remains were found. ( mark ) in the east bay... one person is hospitalized after a house fire in castro valley. it happened last night on carlton avenue. people living in the home were able to evacuate before firefighters arrived. the alameda fire department were able to save two dogs one person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation... that person is expected to be okay. while trying to save his 5-year old daughter from drowning. 40-year old roni avila from san francisco is being remembered on social media as a loving husband, father and friend. he was out kayaking with his daughter south of rio vista when their kayak overturned on sunday. neither of them had on a life jacket. avila and his daughter both went under but he surfaced... holding her above the water. witness say she was rescued up by a good samaritan. avila then went under again ... and he did not come back up. the family has set-up a 'go fund me' account to help raise money to bury him in san francisco. you can find a link on our website kron- 4 dot- com. ( darya ) the effort to recall superior court judge aaron persky has taken a big first step. persky was criticized for what many called a lenient sentence for a former stanford athlete. brock turner was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman who was unconscious. he was sentenced to just six months in jail. backers of the recall say that they

will begin collecting the 58-thousand signatures needed to qualify the recall for the june 2018 ballot. ( darya ) judge persky has not made any public comments about the turner case or the recall ( mark ) the u-s supreme court is allowing some parts of president trump's revised travel ban to go into effect. we first broke this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. people from six muslim-majority countries will be barred from entering the country for 90 days -- unless they can provide evidence of links to the u-s -- such as family, a college admission, or a job offer.

the white house said the ban was for national security reasons -- not religious ones. the court will hear full arguments on the travel ban in the fall. ( darya ) wildfires could make this an especially long, hot summer on the west coast.( mark ) tens of thousands of acres have already been scorched in a number of states including california. reid binion has the latest. thick clouds of smoke are blanketing parts of the west coast this week.california is among the states affected. the manzanita wildfire has already scorched roughly 12- hundred acres... and counting. the fast-moving fire was ignited after a traffic collision and has authorities warning residents about possible evacuations.over in utah, the brian head fire, which started ten-days ago, has grown to about 46-thousand acres.and mother nature isn't helping the crews.sean johnson, operations chief "there's no break in the weather anticipated for at least the next seven to ten days so how do we continue doing this? we strategize, we make good plans, we ensure the safety of firefighters and the public, we make sure that we're moving in the right directions."that includes a new incident command center for those battling the blaze.

( darya ) officials in new york say a teenage girl's own action caused her to fall out of a ride at an amusement park. it happened over the weekend at a six flags park near albany, new york. the 14-year-old was riding the sky ride gondola with her brother - when she slipped. her brother held her as a crowd gathered below to catch her. she fell about 25 feet into the arms bystanders. she was not seriously injured. the local sheriff says that 'human error' on the part of the teen caused her to slip under a restraining bar. authorities say the safety features on the ride were functioning properly. ( darya ) two marines have been severely burned after an explosion in san diego at the marine corps air station. the marines were performing routine maintenance on a combat jet when it suddenly

burst into flames. one of them is in critical condtion while the condition of the other marine is not being released. ( mark ) crews are stepping up efforts to fix the damaged spillway at the oroville dam before the next rainy season. engineers have created a replica of the dam and are testing it in utah. this way they can figure out which repairs will work the best as they fix the damage from this past winter. they are also using computers to come up with designs for the repairs... but engineers say there is no replacement for the tests being done on the replica. the repairs are expected to cost 300-million dollars... and are supposed to be wrapped up by the beginning of november. ( mark ) the sonoma-marin area rail transit district is offering free preview rides on its smart train. it is happening between rohnert park and the marin civic center stations starting on thursday. the district will also run trains between the sonoma county airport station and the marin county fair at the marin civic center on july first and july fourth. the free preview is in advance of full regular train service between the airport station and downtown san rafael. a

felony charges for conspiracy to obstruct justice against a former oakland police officer. the charges were dropped after prosecutors refused to disclose the name of a confidential informant in the prostitution case. 27-year-old ryan walterhouse still faces one misdemeanor count of engaging in an act of prostitution. a prostitute testified that walterhouse gave her his number and solicited her for sex after he met her while patrolling in oakland last year. walterhouse resigned from the oakland police department in december. this case is ánotá related to the police sex scandal involving a woman formerly known as celeste guap. ( darya ) in the east bay. a man is behind bars this morning accused of killing his son. it happened saturday morning at a home in richmond on groom drive. police say the call came in as a family

dispute. when they arrived, they found the 18- year-old son had been shot in the chest. they arrested the 59-year-old father on homicide charges. ( darya ) the teenage girl who fell to her death from a cliff in san francisco was walking in an area that is closed off to the public. we first told you about this story last week on the kron 4 morning news. park police say 17-year-old victoria la rocca and two other teens ignored warning signs when they walked to the painted rock cliff's edge... located at land's end. that is where la rocca fell nearly 200 feet and landed on a large rock. after finding her motionless and unresponsive ... rescuers transported her to china beach where she later died. the two teens with la rocca admitted to investigators that they knew the area was closed when they entered. ( mark ) we now know the names of two people who were killed while trying to break into a home in brentwood. the coroner identified the men as 38-year-old ellis williams

( mark ) police say a southern california father killed his five-year-old boy after a trip to disneyland.. in order to get back at his wife after their divorce. the boy's father has been charged with murder. aramazd andressian senior was arrested friday in las vegas, about two- months after his son's disappearance. andressian was supposed to drop off his son with his mother but was later found unconscious inside a car doused in gasoline. if convicted, he faces up to 25-years to life in prison. ( darya ) a massive project that would alter california's water system is moving forward. u-s wildlife agencies have given their approval to build twin tunnels in the delta. governor brown is a big supporter of the plan... which would cost an estimated 16-

happened last night on carlton avenue. people living in the home were able to evacuate before firefighters arrived. the alameda fire department were able to save two dogs one person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation... that person is expected to be okay. ( mark ) the u-s supreme court is allowing some parts of president trump's revised travel ban to go into effect. people from six muslim- majority countries will be barred from entering the country for 90 days -- unless they can provide evidence of links to the u-s -- such as family, a college admission, or a job offer. the white house said the ban was for national security reasons -- not religious ones. the court will hear full arguments on the travel ban in the fall. (james)we're expecting another mild day today with mostly sunny skies and below average temperatures. it's mostly cloudy and cool this morning. the marine layer is penetrating into all our inland valleys bringing temperatures down into the 50s for most. by mid-morning the fog and low clouds will pull back, letting the sun through. expect highs today to mirror what we saw yesterday. the inland valleys will warm into the upper 70s mostly, with a few spots reaching the low 80s. communities closer to the bay will be in the low 70s, while the coast will max out in the low 60s. as for the rest of the week, a gradual warm up begins tomorrow and ends this weekend with inland highs reaching the low 90s. temperatures cool back down starting next monday.

( mark ) the sonoma-marin area rail transit district is offering free preview rides on its smart train. it is happening between rohnert park and the marin civic center stations starting on thursday. the district will also run trains between the sonoma county airport station and the marin county fair at the marin civic center on july first and july fourth. the free preview is in advance of full regular train service between the airport station and downtown san rafael. a starting date for the regular service has not yet been announced. ( darya ) dozens of potential jurors have been excused from the trial of martin shkreli because they claimed they couldn't be impartial. jury selection continues today in the fraud trial against the former pharmaceutical company executive. during jury questioning yesterday, several jurors said they could not ignore shkreli's reputation for raising the price of a life-saving drug by five-thousand percent. the 34-year-old was arrested last year on conspiracy and other charges unrelated to the price- gouging scandal. ( darya ) bill cosby's next trial could be taking place in southern california. a hearing is scheduled today in santa monica to set a trial date. this next lawsuit accuses him of raping a teen at the playboy mansion more than 40 years ago. judy huth filed the lawsuit against cosby for the incident

( darya ) crews are stepping up efforts to fix the damaged spillway at the oroville dam before the next rainy season. engineers have created a replica of the dam and are testing it in utah. this way they can figure out which repairs will work the best as they fix the damage from this past winter. they are also using computers to come up with designs for the repairs... but engineers say there is no replacement for the tests being done on the replica. the repairs are expected to cost 300-million dollars... and are supposed to be wrapped up by the beginning of november. ( darya ) a car loses control and nearly crashes into a bus in missouri. it was all caught on the bus's camera. police say the car had been involved in a drive by shooting moments before the crash. after the car barely misses the bus...the car then hits a tree and then a light pole. no one on the bus was severely injured.

insurance by 20-26. like the house version of the bill that passed in may, this version would end enhanced medicaid expansion, eliminate coverage mandates, and allow insurers to charge older policy holders more. premiums would go down about 20 percent over the next 10 years for the average customer, and the u.s. deficit could also be cut by 321 billion dollars. but those in the individual insurance market would be hit with dramatic increases for services. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell is scrambling to get enough votes for the bill, and these new numbers may not help.

at a home on groom drive. police say the call came in as a family dispute. when they arrived, they found the 18-year-old son had been shot in the chest. they arrested the 59-year-old father on homicide charges. ( darya ) the teenage girl who fell to her death from a cliff in san francisco was walking in an area that is closed off to the public. we first told you about this story last week on the kron 4 morning news. park police say 17-year-old victoria la rocca and two other teens ignored warning signs when they walked to the painted rock cliff's edge... located at land's end. that is where la rocca fell nearly 200 feet and landed on a large rock. after finding her motionless and unresponsive ... rescuers transported her to china beach where she later died. the two teens with la rocca admitted to investigators that they knew the area was closed when they entered.
