( will ) the fourth of july is tomorrow but many people already celebrating the holiday with fun on the water if that's you.... the coast guard wants to pass along some tips. kron four's hermela aregawi spoke to officials and has some advice that could save your life. this 4th of july.. a guide to staying safe in bay area waters.the coast guard has your back.. but they need your participation.drivers are urged not to drink and operate

a boat.the legal blood alcohol level is the same as driving a car.. .08.lieut megan mervar/coast guard:don't boat if you are drinking alcohol because you are not only responsible for your vessel but also those who are out there boating.while you're on the waters.. remember to have a life jacket for everyone on board.and make sure the jackets are easily accessible. there are also other security measures you can put in place. lieut megan mervar/coast guard make sure you've got radios vhf radios. even if you're operating a small craft, there are handheld vhf radios. that can be a matter of life and death. if you're able to give the coast guard on channel 16 you've got a radio. file a float plan, make sure someone knows where you're going and when to expect you back. that also can be the difference between life and death if someone knows that you're supposed be back at a certain time and you don't show up. they can give the coast guard a call.last year the coast guard saved 4 people celebrating the 4th of july in bay area waters.(hermela aregawi)as far as those vhf radiots.. i was told you can get them from a boating equipment store or some outdoor equipment store like r.e.i.reporting in alameda, hermela aregawi, kron 4 news. every one stay safe while out on the water, american river officials have banned alcohol for the second week in a row.. rangers say one reason for the ban is that when people are out on the water, they are not drinking enough water. the ban has gotten mixed reactions. some say that people are usually responsible with their alcohol.. others think it makes for a more family-fun environment. ( will ) the ban started on saturday and will go through the fourth of july. ( will ) napa county officials are warning people not to go near rivers and lakes with blue- green algae. warning signs have been posted around the affected areas. experts say if the water has a lot of algae or scum floating in it, stay away from it. blue-green algae poisoning can cause eye

irritation, skin rashes, mouth ulcers, vomiting, diarrhea, and flu-like symptoms. blue-green algae poisoning is most common in pets. at least two dogs have died in napa county from contact with the toxic algae. ( will ) c-h-p officers are on high alert this holiday knowing some people will be having too much fun. drive sober or get pulled over. kron four's ella sogomonian is in contra costa county with the reminder. police will be out in full force in hopes their presence on bay area highways and streets will prevent tragedies on an otherwise fun filled fourth of july weekend.sot: "i'm staying off the roads, hanging at home."but if you are on the road expect officers to be on the look out for any sign of drivers under the influence of drugs, alcohol or even medication.

bridge. the price increases by 25 cents. pay by plate drivers will pay seven dollars and seventy five cents. fastrak users will pay six dollars and seventy five cents. car pool prices for drivers will go from four dollars and fifty cents to four dollars and seventy five cents. the increased prices are part of a five year plan to raise 138 million dollars. the prices will go up by another 25 cents next july. ( will ) it will also cost you more to ride muni. single trip fares went up by 25 cents from 2.50 to 2.75 if you're paying for cash. it is now at 2.50 if you're paying by clipper card. monthly passes are up two to three dollars depending on what plan you chose. muni says the money will go to making your ride safer, quicker and smoother. ( will ) in the east bay. a man is in jail this morning in connection with a hit and run that killed a ten-year-old boy and his

five-year-old brother. this happened in concord late friday night. a 3 month old infant and the children's 35-year-old mother were seriously injured in the crash. the collision happened on the solano way on and off ramps to highway four. officers arrested lemuel wilson junior. they say he caused the crash and that he ran away from the scene to a nearby movie theater. bail is set at half-a-million dollars. ( will ) happening now. police are looking for the person who left a car crash that has left a man in critical condition. police say the suspect is 47-year-old laura ha from napa. the hit and run crash happened thursday night on redwood road in napa. witnesses say she was in a white cadillac s-u-v and hit a man who was in the street. police say ha stopped and got out of the car but drove away before police got there. the victim is being treated for spinal and neck fractures this morning. had a bright future.while driving home wednesday evening, she tried to merge into traffic.what happens next defies all reason..tom hogan/chester county district attorney"another car, a red pickup truck merged in at the same time and the man in the pickup truck pulled out a gun and shot her in the head killing her. this is now a murder case."her car went off an embankment and she was later found dead.investigators say the pickup truck - seen here next to robersons car before the deadly encounter - then sped off.on sunday, days after the murder ... 28- year-old david desper turned himself..tom hogan/ chester county district attorney: "this is the story of a savage and senseless murder. bianca roberson, 18-years-old, gunned down because somebody didn't want to give way. somebody didn't want her to merge into a lane of traffic and because of that, a young woman is dead today." he was placed under arrest for first-degree murder and several other charges.

( will ) at least five people are injured after an amtrak train derailed in washington state. four of the train 15-cars fell over dangerously close to a nearby golf course. it happened yesterday in steilacoom which is a suburb of tacoma the train crew members were not hurt. amtrak says there were 267-passengers on board, who were later evacuated by

( will ) the vallejo- fairfield area is number one across the nation for home sales. that's according to a recent study ... kron four's alecia reid spoke with an east bay real estate agent who says the past two years have been extremely busy. the market is completely nuts if you think you're gonna write an offer and they accept it the same day, that's not real anymore. that's not a realistic expectation because the seller wants to hold out a week to 10 days to see how many people are going to step up and offer more than what they wanta property like this is a steal for many families. this home on dyer court was on the market for 2 weeks. it does need a lot of work. the going rate was 330-thousand dollars. a buyer offered an additional 20-grand. unfortunately the deal fell through. right now, vallejo- fairfield is number one for home sales in the nation, according to realtor dot-com's market hotness index.it's a

great opportunity for people to buy something because nothing else would compare to what's available in the bay areareal estate agent luis romero has no doubt this house will sell soon. he says anything from mobile homes starting at 65-thousand dollars, to million dollar homes are being sold one after the other. he says this affordable rate isn't because of the stigma of crime associated with vallejo, but because the 3 bedroom, 2 car garage home is a fixer upper. this side of vallejo has always been the most desirable. there are a lot of other places that are just as nice, there are other places that are much, much better but crime over here isn't an issue. you don't find any shootings like that over here. it's rare. standupromero put this house back on the market sunday and started getting calls right away.he expects to have at least 10 potential buyers within the next 24 hours..reporting from vallejoar kron 4 news.

one thing many republicans were hoping to celebrate ahead of this july 4th holiday was a vote on the senate health care bill and the end to obamacare. that fell short after senate majority leader, mitch mcconnell was forced to delay the vote ...following a report by the congressional budget office that said 22 million more americans would be uninsured under the g-o-p plan.president trump on friday tweeted if republican senators were unable to pass the bill, they should immediately repeal obamacare and replace it later. trump's new-found approach was an idea drafted by senator ben sasse of nebraska .. in a letter to the president last week.sen. ben sasse / - r-nebraska: "if we can do a combined repeal and replace over the next week that's great. if we can't though, there's no reason to walk away. we should do a repeal with a delay."not everyone is onboard with that -- despite the senate's struggle to gain the necessary gop support for the legislation..mcconnell responded to the new idea by saying the senate will continue to pursue a joint repeal and replace of the

headlines. a central florida mother is murdered shortly after postng on facebook. terri parker reports that police are trying to determine if there is a connection. family and friends gathered in front of the house where 33 year old makeva jenkins lived until a masked man knocked on the door at 2 am, shooting and killing jenkins.a bubbly entrepreneur upbeat about her newfound business success makeva jenkins: "hi, i'm makeva jenkins, prime enterprise girl, business strategist; if you're looking to start or improve a

( darya ) our top story... a man is in jail this morning in connection with a hit and run that killed a ten-year-old boy and his five-year-old brother. it happened in concord late friday night. a 3-month-old baby and the children's 35-year-old mother were critically injured in the crash. the crash happened on the solano way off and on ramps to highway four. officers arrested lemuel wilson junior. they say he caused the crash and that he ran away from the scene to a nearby movie theater. bail is set at half-a-million

( james ) happening now. napa police are looking for the person who left the scene of a car crash that put a man in the hospital. that man is in critical condition this morning. police say the suspect is 47-year-old laura ha from napa. the hit and run crash happened on redwood road. witnesses say she was in a white cadillac s-u-v when she hit a man who was in the street. police say ha stopped and got out of the car but drove away before police got there. the victim is being treated for spinal and neck fractures. ( darya ) two people are in jail this morning after police say they robbed a man at gunpoint in front of his santa rosa apartment. it happened early yesterday morning at the vinyard creek complex on airport boulevard. officers say two people approached the victim. one of them was waiving a handgun. the other was holding a knife. they demanded a piece of jewelry then ran away. the victim gave police a description of the attacker and said they might still be in the apartment complex. after a 25 minute search... police found the suspected thieves in the parking lot. both were arrested and booked for armed robbery. ( darya ) demonstrators called for the impeachment of

president donald trump in san francisco. this was the scene yesterday near the embarcadero. it is not the first time people in san francisco have protested against president trump, but this time they had an organized effort to get him kicked out of office. organizers talked about president trump's refusal to divest himself from his business empire as a direct violation of both foreign and domestic emoluents clauses. ( darya ) protesters demanded action from congress, but with republicans holding the majority in the house, protestors said they do not expect changes to come any time soon. the shelter earlier this week. i pulled out of the gate, jumped out of my car to close the gate, looked over to my left and saw these wire kennels.inside he found seventeen cats.all the black cats were in one kennel and all the mixed cats were in another kennel.they are now being cared for at the shelter. they are shy and puzzled in their new surroundings. most all have some serious health issues.all most every single one of them has dental disease so we've got a lot of work to do for them.work that will be expensive.we're looking at three hundred to maybe a thousand dollars per cat.to help defray these costs the shelter relys on donations to their second chance fund.the second chance fund is there so that we can spend the money to get an animal up to optimal health as we can get them.when the shelter posted the plight of the cats on social media they received responses of condemnation for whoever abandoned the animals, a response that troubled those at the animal shelter.we don't want to shame the person that's doing this because we don't know what they are going through. we understand that people go through hard times and they can't continue to care for a pet or multiple pets in this case. while the shelter discourages people from just abandoning animals at their gate they don't want to find any along side a rural roadway somewhere.thank you for caring enough to leave

( darya ) napa county officials are warning people not to go near rivers and lakes with blue- green algae. warning signs have been posted around the affected areas. experts say if the water has a lot of algae or scum floating in it, stay away from it. blue-green algae poisoning can cause eye irritation, skin rashes, mouth ulcers and flu-like symptoms. blue-green algae poisining is most common in pets. at least two dogs have died in napa county due to contact with the toxic algae. ( darya ) and a reminder that two lakes in the east bay are closed because of the toxic algae. lake temescal in oakland is closed and so is horseshoe lake in fremont. officials say neither of the lakes will reopen until the algae drops to safe levels.

( darya ) the body of a 5-year-old california boy missing since april has been found.( james ) the discovery comes as the boy's father faces murder charges in his son's disappearance. cooper rummell reports. homicide detectives have found the body of a missing 5-year-old boy whose father is charged with his murder, authorities announced saturday. based on "additional leads," detectives returned friday to an area near lake cachuma in santa barbara county and found the remains of aramazd andressian jr., according to a

( james ) a war veteran who suffers from p-t-s-d led c-h-p on high-speed chase in southern california. the driver's father says his son was hearing voices. he believed his son was just trying to get home where "he knows it is safe." the c-h-p said they first tried to pull the man over in santa clarita for driving recklessly on saturday. they called the chase dangerous and said the driver often exceeded 100 miles-per-hour. a squad car crashed during the chase. there was no word on whether the officer driving the car was injured. police ended the chase by colliding with the driver.

this morning... a 3-month- old baby is recovering after a hit-and run accident. the crash in concord killed a 10-year-old boy and his 5- year-old brother. officers arrested lemuel wilson junior after the deadly crash on friday. a 3-month-old infant and the children's 35-year-old mother were seriously injured in the crash. the collision happened on the solano way off and on ramps to highway four. police say wilson caused the crash and that he ran away from the scene to a nearby movie theater. bail is set at half-a-million dollars. ( james ) happening now. napa police are looking for the person who left the scene of a car crash that put a man in the hospital. that man is in critical condition this morning. police say the suspect is 47-year-old laura ha from napa. the hit and

( james ) two people are in jail this morning after police say they robbed a man at gunpoint in front of his santa rosa apartment. it happened early yesterday morning at the vinyard creek complex on airport boulevard. officers say two people approached the victim. one of them was waiving a handgun. the other was holding a knife. they demanded a piece of jewelry then ran away. the victim gave police a description of the attacker and said they might still be in the apartment complex. after a 25 minute search... police found the suspected thieves in the parking lot. both were arrested and booked for armed robbery. ( darya ) president trump is once again attacking the media... this time with a video on twitter. the clip was edited from a 2007 w-w-e broadcast to show the president punching and slamming a man with a cnn logo on his face. it was shared to 33 million followers on the

( james ) the manager of the humane society in vallejo made a startling discovery as he was leaving the shelter the other day. he found seventeen cats inside two kennels while he was closing the gates leading to the shelter. all the cats were found with serious health issues. almost all of them has a dental disease. the shelter is caring for them, but it is relying on donations to help cover these costs.
