firefighters have put out an apartment fire in antioch that sent three people to the hospital with smoke inhalation. the blaze was first reported at about 10 p.m last night on the 3900 block of delta fair boulevard. four people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and three were taken to the hospital. officials say the blaze may have been started by fireworks. we'll have updates for your throughout the morning. ( marty @ bam ) our top story this morning... hundreds of people forced out of their homes after a massive fire rips through a construction site in oakland. this is the fourth fire in the past year to break out at a construction site in that area. it started friday morning at an apartment complex under construction near lake merritt. kron4's ella sogomonian has the details. construction site at valdez and grand went up in flames friday morning. although the fire didn't spread robbie treimcheny says he was given five minutes to pack his things in case a giant crane

topples over.sot: robbie treimcheny, evacuee// "i saw the fire it was directly below my apartment. the crane is going to land one of i believe five places. either the empty parking across the street, my bedroom, the small business and housing that is across from me, or the parking garage." the red cross offer food and an overnight shelter for evacuees at grand and san pablo a few blocks from the fire. but only a handful of people - if that - showed up for the help.sot: robbie treimcheny, evacuee// "i would assume that for residents for this building at least a shelter is not something they have to immediately jump to think about."tenants of 100 grand say they are all required to have renter's insurance so most have arranged to stay at a hotel or with friends.sot: mark bagnall, evacuee// "i've found a place to stay and luckily i have insurance that will cover the cost of that."this being the third fire this year at large scale apartment construction site in the area - suspicion has risen among developers whether housing projects are being targeted by arsonists.sot: gregg

mcconnell, jobs and housing coalition president // "they are rattled. they are wondering if this is the work of some anti-development arson group of individuals. we don't know yet. we have suspicions but we don't know for sure." mcconnell is worried if the fire may be a sign of opposition to a developing oakland that could price out long-time locals.sot: gregg mcconnell, jobs and housing coalition president // "we're not subtracting we're adding housing and adding housing doesn't push people out."sot: mark bagnall, evacuee// "it might be but it seems foolish. it seems that if we build more buildings the rent will come down."the fire is under investigation. ( marty ) the building that went up in flames was owned by wood partners. a national real estate developer. the project was expected to be completed next year. and it would have housed 196 apartments and retail space. now officials are investigating the cause of the fire. arson investigators won't be able to start their job until a huge crane that was being used during the

construction is taken down. that crane is also stopping people from being able to return to their nearby homes. ( marty ) investigators say they will be looking through surveillance video from the construction site and from other buildings. ( marty ) this latest blaze is among several suspicious fires at construction sites in the east bay. less than one year ago another apartment building near lake merritt went up in flames. it happened on halloween night. a-t-f investigators looked into the massive fire, but we still do not know the cause. the fire destroyed the 41-unit complexé and caused one million dollars in damage. ( marty ) and in emeryville a bulding under

construction was targeted twice by an arsonist. one year ago this week an early morning fire ripped through the building. at the time the developer said the building was about 60-percent complete. investigators determined the fire was intentionally set. and in may the same construction site went up in flames. a suspect was seen at the site shortly before the fire started. but so far no one has been arrested. ( marty ) our coverage of the oakland construction fire continues on kron-4-dot-com. there we have a photo gallery showing the dramatic images.... including one video that was taken from a southwest flight over oakland. ( marty ) another big story we are following this morning. we now have video of lemuel wilson being taken to martinez jail. here's the video... wilson is the suspect in a fatal hit and run crash one week ago. it happened last friday night when a car veered off a highway four off- ramp in concord and slammed into the car carrying the three young

boys and their mother. two boys, ages 5 and 10 died at the scene. the third is in still in the hospital. police say wilson was in the car that caused the collision and took off running from the crash. he was later arrested at highland oakland. for people in the area. ( marty ) and another wildfire continues to burn in yolo county, west of sacramento. the winters fire has burned over 19- hundred acres and is 54 percent contained. one person was injured and the cause is still under investigation. mandatory evacuations have been lifted but there are several road closures in the area on highway 128. ( marty ) a mother and her baby daughter assaulted and kidnapped by two men in porterville have been found safe. police say maria palomares and her one-year-old daughter deleyza were found unharmed close to the same area where they were kidnapped. the two have been reunited with their family. police are still looking for the suspects they believe are responsible for the kidnapping. they have been identified as valentin villasenor and juan martinez. no word on the motive. ( marty ) another delay in the court proceedings for the two men charged in the deadly

ghost ship warehouse fire. the plea hearing was postponed for max harris and derick almena. the two man are each facing 36-counts of involuntary manslaughter for last december's deadly ghost ship warehouse fire. a civil rights attorney representing the victims families wants one other person connected to the oakland building to be held responsible for the lives lost in the fire. .( marty ) for now max harris and derick almena are the only defendants facing criminal charges. they are scheduled to be back in court next month for bail hearings and to enter their pleas

( marty ) a crime warning at a popular park in fremont. a woman was robbed at gunpoint on the fourth of july. it happened at los cerritos community park. the gunman got away with the woman's purse and cellphone. she was not hurt during the robbery. park visitors say it's common to see people in the park at night. but, it's rare for something like this to happen. ( marty ) police say the gunman was gone by the time they responded to the area in part because the victim waited about 40 minutes to report the crime. ( marty ) the monte rio beach along the russian river in the north bay remains closed because of high levels of bacteria in the water. the sonoma county department of health services tested the water twice this week and found high levels of coli bacteria. so they have posted warning signs in the area advising people to not

( marty ) in the south bay... san jose police are asking for the public's help in identifying these suspects that could be linked to a suspicious death. back on june 22nd police say these men were involved in a fight just before 11 at night on south capitol avenue.. the 42-year-old victim died a short time later. anyone with information is being asked to call san jose police homicide unit. ( marty @ landing) frightening moments in oakland after a postal worker was shot while making her rounds. and now the search is on for

the gunman. kron 4's hermela aregawi has the story. tonight - the united states postal service is offering a 50-thousand dollar reward for information that helps catch a shooting suspect.jeff fitch/postal inspector, usps: we are always assessing security as the law enforcement security arm of the postal service. and again this is something that doesn't happen very often and when it does it comes with very serious consequences.you can see the postal truck riddled with bullets.the mail carrier inside..was shot,.avenal and bancroft avenue was shut down much of the day as police collected evidence..the postal worker islisten in stable condition at a local hospital. police do not believe she was targeted. marco marquez/oakland police department: we're still investigating the motive of this shooting and at the same time we are asking the public if you saw something or if you have any information or if you live in this area and you have surevillance video to please provide that information to the oakland police department so we can fruther our investigation into this shooting.a u.s postal service

( marty @ landing) we are now hearing from a pilot who walked away from a crash in vacaville. this is the wreckage. the man took off from the airport in vacaville just after 8:00 yesterday morning. the plane then lost power. there was a freeway in sight but no time to get there.

so the man guided the plane away from homes and brought it down as safely as he could. ( marty ) the pilot suffered a few scrapes and bruises - but refused medical treatment. the n-t-s-b is investigating. ( marty @landing ) two hiking trails are off limits for the time being at alum rock park in san jose. offcials are concerned about a mountain lion that was spotted in the area recently. kron four's rob fladeboe has the video. rob fladeboe/san jose ".....visitors to alum rock park here in the foothills of east san jose are going to see safety advisories like this one posted here at the trail known as one way road at the old entrance off alum roack avenue and on the south rim trail.those two trails were closed on thursday after this mountain lion was captured on video by park rangers and spotted by several hikers in the area earlier in the week. mountain lion sightings are not all that rare in the

( marty ) the c-h-p caught a man driving in the carpool lane with this female mannequin in the passenger seat. it happened in santa rosa. the officer first noticed someone wearing a thick hoody when he was pulling the driver over. he says he thought it was way too hot outside for someone to be wearing a sweatshirt.

the officer gave the driver a ticketed for illegally driving in a car pool lane. ( marty ) there is a red flag fire warning for the bay area. as the hot weather is making for a dangerous situation. triple digit temperatures, low humidity and windy conditions make it easy for fires to start and spread quickly. kron4's charles clifford is tracking conditions in contra costa county. in just the past few weeks, fast moving grass fires have become a regular occurrence around the bay area. extended stretches of hot weather has left the grass and trees brown, dry and ready to burn. cal fire says that 95 percent of all wildfires in california and started by people. fire officials are now asking the public to use common sense in order to prevent fires. they suggest never using lawn mowers in dry vegetation. don't park vehicles in tall dry grass. keep dry brush and grass cleared away from homes. . and make sure that cigarette butts are properly extinguished. they are also asking people to never burn dry leave or grass, especially on windy days.sotso right now we are at 112 and it's 98 degrees outside.contra costa

animal services is also working to get the word out about the dangers pets face during hot weather. they say that in recent weeks they have been receiving a high volume of calls about animal being left in cars where temperatures can be considerably hotter than outside.soti can scream for help, i can open the door, you're pet can't do that. so that's why it's really important that we not leave pets in cars.animal servies is also reminding the public that anyone can take action to help an animal trapped in a hot vehicle but only after calling 911, exhausting all others options, and making sure it's safe to rescue the animal.sot if you do get an animal out, we recommend getting it to shade and water

( marty ) a delta air lines flight was forced to return after takeoff from seattle to beijing... after a passenger attempted to enter the cockpit. it happened about 45 minutes into the flight... when authorities say 23-year-old joseph hudek punched a flight attendant in first class. this is what the area looked like after the fight. the flight attendant tried to stop the man from opening an exit door and getting near the cockpit. ( marty ) when the plane landed, police handcuffed and zip-tied, joseph hudek to a wheelchair. both hudek and a flight attendant were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

( marty ) just released video of the fatal car crash involving tennis player venus williams is now revealing more details about the june ninth accident. you can see williams' car about to go into the intersection, but she stops as an approaching car turns left in front of her. police say williams had a green light and her stop to avoid the collision was legal. williams goes after the car passed, but by that time, the light turned green for oncoming traffic. that's when a car comes from the side hitting williams. a passenger in that vehicle died in the hospital two weeks later. the victim's family is williams her for wrongful death. police are examining the video. coming up.. only one movie is hitting theaters this weekend. but it's a big one. how it's expected to perform. ( marty ) this latest blaze is among several suspicious fires at construction sites in the east bay. less than one year ago another apartment building near lake merritt went up in flames. it happened on halloween night. a-t-f investigators looked into the massive fire, but we still do not know the cause. the fire destroyed the 41-unit complexé and caused one million dollars in ( marty ) and in emeryville a bulding under construction was targeted twice by an arsonist. one year ago this week an early morning fire ripped through the building. at the time the developer said the building was about 60-percent complete. investigators determined the fire was intentionally set. and in may the same construction site went up in flames. a suspect was seen at the site shortly before the fire started. but so far no one has been arrested. safe. police say maria palomares and her one-year-old daughter deleyza were found unharmed close to the same area where they were kidnapped. the two have been reunited with their family. police are still looking for the suspects they believe are responsible for the kidnapping. they have been identified as valentin villasenor and juan martinez. no word on the motive. ( marty ) another delay in the court proceedings for the two men charged in the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire. the plea hearing was postponed for max harris and derick almena. the two man are each facing 36-counts of involuntary manslaughter for last december's deadly ghost ship warehouse fire. a civil rights attorney representing the victims families wants one other person connected to the oakland building to be held responsible for the lives lost in the fire. .

( marty ) there is a red flag fire warning for the bay area. as the hot weather is making for a dangerous situation. triple digit temperatures, low humidity and windy conditions make it easy for fires to start and spread quickly. kron4's charles clifford is tracking conditions in contra costa county. in just the past few weeks, fast moving grass fires have become a regular occurrence around the bay area. extended stretches of hot weather has left the grass and trees brown, dry and ready to burn. cal fire says that 95 percent of all wildfires in california and started by people. fire officials are now asking the public to use common sense in order to prevent fires. they suggest never using lawn mowers in dry vegetation. don't park vehicles in tall dry grass. keep dry brush and grass cleared away from homes. . and make sure that cigarette butts are properly extinguished. they are also asking people to never burn dry leave or grass, especially on windy days.sotso right now we are at 112 and it's 98 degrees outside.contra costa animal services is also working to get the word out about the dangers pets face during hot weather. they say

( marty ) a delta air lines flight was forced to return after takeoff from seattle to beijing... after a passenger attempted to enter the cockpit. it happened about 45 minutes into the flight... when authorities say 23-year-old joseph hudek punched a flight attendant in first class. this is what the area looked like after the fight. the flight attendant tried to stop the man from opening an exit door and getting near the cockpit. ( marty ) breaking news overnight... firefighters have put out an apartment fire in antioch that sent three people to the hospital with smoke inhalation. the blaze was first reported at about 10 p.m last night on the 3900 block of delta fair boulevard. four people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and three were taken to the hospital. officials say the blaze may have been started by fireworks. we'll have updates for your throughout the morning. ( marty ) another big story we are following this morning. we now have video of lemuel wilson being taken to martinez jail. here's the video... wilson is the suspect in a fatal hit and run crash one week ago. it happened last friday night when a car veered off a highway four off- ramp in concord and slammed into the car carrying the three young boys and their mother. two boys, ages 5 and 10 died at the scene. the third is in still in the hospital. police say wilson was in the car that caused the collision and took off running from the crash. he was later arrested at highland hospital in oakland. ( marty ) a massive wildfire is burning in butte county, north of sacramento, destroying several homes. about a-thousand acres have burned and there is no containment yet. evacuations have been ordered for people in the area. ( marty ) and another wildfire continues to burn in yolo county, west of sacramento. the winters fire has burned over 19- hundred acres and is 54 percent contained. one person was injured and the cause is still under investigation. mandatory evacuations have been lifted but there are several road closures in the area on highway 128. ( marty ) a mother and her baby daughter assaulted and kidnapped by two men in porterville have been found

safe. police say maria palomares and her one-year-old daughter deleyza were found unharmed close to the same area where they were kidnapped. the two have been reunited with their family. police are still looking for the suspects they believe are responsible for the kidnapping. they have been identified as valentin villasenor and juan martinez. no word on the motive. ( marty ) another delay in the court proceedings for the two men charged in the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire. the plea hearing was postponed for max harris and derick almena. the two man are each facing 36-counts of involuntary manslaughter for last december's deadly ghost ship warehouse fire. a civil rights attorney representing the victims families wants one other person connected to the oakland building to be held responsible for the lives lost in the fire. .

gone by the time they responded to the area in part because the victim waited about 40 minutes to report the ( marty ) the monte rio beach along the russian river in the north bay remains closed because of high levels of bacteria in the water. the sonoma county department of health services tested the water twice this week and found high levels of coli bacteria. so they have posted warning signs in the area advising people to not swim in the water. san jose police are asking for the public's help in identifying these suspects that could be linked to a suspicious death. back on june 22nd police say these men were involved in a fight just before 11 at night on south capitol avenue.. the 42-year-old victim died a short time later. anyone with information is being asked to call san jose police homicide unit. ( marty @ landing) we are now hearing from a pilot who walked away from a crash in vacaville. this is the wreckage. the man took off from the airport in vacaville just after 8:00 yesterday morning. the plane then lost power. there was a freeway in sight but no time to get there. so the man guided the plane away from homes and brought it down as safely as he could. ( marty ) the pilot suffered a few scrapes and bruises - but refused medical treatment. the n-t-s-b is investigating. ( marty @landing ) two hiking trails are off limits for the time being at alum rock park in san jose.

offcials are concerned about a mountain lion that was spotted in the area recently. kron four's rob fladeboe has the video. rob fladeboe/san jose ".....visitors to alum rock park here in the foothills of east san jose are going to see safety advisories like this one posted here at the trail known as one way road at the old entrance off alum roack avenue and on the south rim trail.those two trails were closed on thursday after this mountain lion was captured on video by park rangers and spotted by several hikers in the area earlier in the week. mountain lion sightings are not all that rare in the rugged, heavily wooded park, but it's thought this animal might be lingering to feast on a recent deer kill or perhaps is in search of water.rangers say that sooner or later the mountain lion will retreat to more remote parts of the park. there are plenty of signs like this one posted on both trails but hikers seem to be taking the situation in stride.hiker ".....i'm not sure exactly how o might react if i ran

driving in the carpool lane with this female mannequin in the passenger seat. it happened in santa rosa. the officer first noticed someone wearing a thick hoody when he was pulling the driver over. he says he thought it was way too hot outside for someone to be wearing a sweatshirt. the officer gave the driver a ticketed for illegally driving in a car pool lane. county. in just the past few weeks, fast moving grass fires have become a regular occurrence around the bay area. extended stretches of hot weather has left the grass and trees brown, dry and ready to burn. cal fire says that 95 percent of all wildfires in california and started by people. fire officials are now asking the public to use common sense in order to prevent fires. they suggest never using lawn mowers in dry vegetation. don't park vehicles in tall dry grass. keep dry brush and grass cleared away from homes. . and make sure that cigarette butts are properly extinguished. they are also asking people to never burn dry leave or grass, especially on windy days.sotso right now we are at 112 and it's 98 degrees outside.contra costa animal services is also working to get the word out about the dangers pets face during hot weather. they say that in recent weeks they have been receiving a high volume of calls about animal being left in cars where temperatures can be considerably hotter than outside.soti can scream for help, i can open the door, you're pet can't do that. so that's why it's really important that we not leave pets in cars.animal servies is also reminding the public that

( marty ) just released video of the fatal car crash involving tennis player venus williams is now revealing more details about the june ninth accident. you can see williams' car about to go into the intersection, but she stops as an approaching car turns left in front of her. police say williams had a
