(tiffany) this morning on the kron 4 morning news... a popular youth tennis coach is behind bars this morning. he is accused of sexually assaulting two of his players. now police fear there may be more victims. (tiffany) and we are learning new information about donald trump junior's meeting with a russian lawyer. the report that says he knew information was coming from the russian government. (tiffany) plus... raging wildfires are keeping fire crews busy across california. we have the latest on the overnight containment effort. the kron 4 morning news starts right now. (tiffany) our top story this morning... a bay area tennis coach is accused of raping two of his teen players. and police fear there may be more victims. the popular coach was taken into custody yesterday morning in richmond. kron 4's jr stone has the story. normandie burgos is behind bars right now facing at least 20 sex crime charges and police say that number could increase. normandie also goes by norm and antonio. he heads the burgos tennis foundation based out of sausalito but with training in san francisco, richmond, and mill valley as well. one of the victims in this case is just 16 years old. police say he had been sexually assaulted by burgos since he was 14. a second 18 year old victim has

come forward as well. additional charges in that cause could be forthcoming. burgos was arrested on these tennis courts near the plunge pool in richmond on monday morning. officers believe many of the sex crimes he's accused of happened at his richmond home. he lived at the marina lakes apartments which have their own tennis courts. in fact this is where police say burgos trained some of his students. a location with lights and a location just feet away from his doorstep. this is not the first time burgos has been in trouble. years ago he lost his high school tennis coaching job after sexual battery accusations arose involving four juveniles. a mistrial was declared and parents rallied for burgos who was heavily involved with tennis instruction up until his arrest.police are urging parents to talk with their kids. they believe there could be more victims out there. in richmond, j.r. stone kron 4 news (tiffany) fire crews continue to monitor a wildfire in san jose. it was first

reported just after 4:00 yesterday afternoon near san felipe and metcalf roads. at last check it burned 40 acres and was just 40-percent contained. officials say it started as a car fire and then spread to nearby brush. crews were concerned the fire would grow up to 500 acres. we will bring you any updates as they become available. (tiffany) and almost 20-thousand people have been evacuated from california to canada as dozens of wildfires ravage the west. thousands of firefighters are battling the blazes in extreme conditions, trying to save as many structures as possible. mary moloney has the latest. more than a dozen wildfires burned across california this weekend, spurred on by record high temperatures and very dry conditions.at least five- thousand firefighters are battling the blazes in triple digit temperatures. scott

jalbert/ united states forest service unit chief: "the fire is burning in very steep and inaccessible terrain. our firefighters are experiencing very critical and dangerous fire behavior"one of the largest fires burning is the whittier fire in santa barbara county, which threatened a children's summer camp, and forced about 3,500 people to evacuate.about 60 kids at the camp became trapped at one point after the road became engulfed in flames. emergency service personnel fought back the fire until the kids could be escorted out by police. and although the once explosive fire has begun to slow down, authorities say it is still growing.. mike - no font provided: "what we have is a backing fire that is coming down with very low intensity, it is highly susceptible to change like what we're seeing when the marine layer moves in."further north in san luis obispo county, the alamo fire has burned more than 23,000 acres, creating so much smoke, it can be seen from space. by monday, it was only 15% contained.45 fires are burning across the western part of the us, the us forest service says.

and 14,000 were evacuated in british columbia, canada as the fires moved north.i'm mary moloney, kron 4 news. (tiffany) happening now... federal officials have set up a special encampment in oakland where a massive four alarm fire tore through a building. the a-t-f is helping local investigators figure out if this is the fourth case of arson at buildings under construction in the last several months. 196 apartment homes and retail space was supposed to occupy that building. fire experts say that the area is still unstable. on sunday a building down the street had several of its windows start popping out - spewing glass shards in the area. (tiffany) as we find out more information about friday's construction site fire in oakland, we've also gotten new information from the a-t-f about three other fires that happened in a year's span. kron four's spencer blake shows us who

investgators are looking forand what another construction site manager has been trying to do about the situation. these flames on halloween of 2016 were at a construction site on lester avenue in oakland.in the months following, the developer had to do a lot to get going again - demolition, engineering, permits - you name it."finally we were able to start, and we've done some work. there's a lot of work to be done." eight to ten months worth of construction work.over in emeryville - the spot that got set on fire átwice in the span of a year, most recently in may - they're still in the demolition stage.private guards still patrol around the property.back in oakland, site manager athan magganas says it was easy for him to tell there was an arsonist on the loose. "it became evident after our

fire."but now the federal bureau of alcohol, tobacco, and firearms, or a-t-fhas said it áwas arson. investigators think the man in this surveillance video is the one who started the fires - the one on lester avenue áand the two in emeryville."we're thrilled that final the local authorities are picking up the pace in this issue."even before his project burned, magganas says he tried to form a task force with other property owners in his boat, but hasn't gotten much feedback from them.he says his company, and neighbors on the street, relived the horrible halloween memories with friday's fire on valdez street. "it's really heart-wrenching to see that people are really terrorized here. they don't wanna go through this experience again."(reporter)so far the a-t-f hasn't linked that suspect to friday's fire, but we know it was very similar to the other construction fires.meanwhile magganas has asked the city to let construction jobs go seven days a week as a deterrent to potential arsonists. york times report cited three people with knowledge of the email from music publicist rob goldstone. goldstone confirmed he set up the meeting with the lawyer. the lawyer said she had information about illegal campaign contributions to the d-n-c. trump junior has acknowledged taking the meeting to learn the information. (tiffany) a mother pleads for help to solve the death of her son nearly one year later. calvin riley was shot while playing pokemon-go at san francisco's aquatic park last august. kron4's maureen kelly reports that the reward to find his killer is now six figures. we still feel like he's coming home. it's hard to realize it is not we don't know how to go long without it. we try our best every day to make sense and there's no sense in it. he's gone and our baby boy is not coming homethe mother of murder victim calvin riley struggled to hold back her emotions as she talked about her son. the 20 year old who played baseball for san jouquin delta college in stockon after graduating from junipero serra high school in san mateo was described as an

amazing person.he loved life he love life to the fullest. he loved everybody around him he love to make everybody else happy. he just wanted to see everybody smile and if it's only one who's down he wanted to lift them up.uc park police say riley was killed while playing pokemon go as he walked here in aquatic park at around 10 oclock the night of august 6th last year. he was shot in the back in what appears to have been a random act. police say there was no confrontation or attempt made to rob riley before the killing.we have interviewed countless folks, associates and friends and at this time we just haven't found someone with the motive to kill him although we have targets which i can't comment onthis is the sketch of the person seen leaving the area after the killing.police say they now also have two vehicles of interest in the case. a 2006-2009 dark audi a3 wagon and a 2013 white 4 door hyundai sonata.today u-s congresswoman jackie speier announced that the city of san francisco, the us park police and the riley family have come up with a total of 110- thousand dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the

person or people responsible. it is not going to be a cold case. we will not allow it to become a cold case. and by upping the amount of money the reward at $110,000 makes this case very much alive. calvin riley's mother says knowing her son's killer was behind bars and not able to hurt anyone else would give her and her family some comfort. maureen kelly kron4 news (tiffany) two people have been arrested for the murder of a 17-year-old boy from morgan hill last week. 25-year-old giovanny ortiz and 18-year-old eric carter were arrested last friday at a modesto motel. the pair shot alexis cardenas gutierrez in his car near brookdale and bing drives in santa clara last wednesday. when officers found the teenager, he had crashed his car... he later died at a hospital. officers say both ortiz and carter are at santa clara county jail and are scheduled

to appear in court tomorrow. (tiffany) the mail carrier who was shot last week in oakland while delivering mail... has been released from the hospital. the shooting happened near the corner of bancoft and avenal avenues shortly after noon on friday. the mail carrier was shot in the hip. officers say the shooting did not appear to be targeted. the postal service says it's offering a 50-thousand dollar reward for information leading to an arrest. (tiffany) the embattled oakland police department could soon face additional monitoring. this comes as the mayor and police chief were called to court by a federal judge. investigators say the police department botched the investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct by its officers. kron four's dan kerman has the story. a federal judge who oversees the oakland police department said the opd "severely mishandled" the investigation into allegations police officers were having sex with this woman, jasmine abuslin, who was an underage prostitute at the time.judge

and his family were visiting from salinas and were on a houseboat on lake shasta stopped at marble creek on saturday. deputies said the child was not wearing a life jacket and was left unattended for a short time. they said when family members went to look for him, they found only his shoes floating in the water near the rear of the boat.the sheriff's office boating safety unit retrieved zamora's body later that morning.according to california law, a child under 12-years-old must be wearing a life jacket while on board a vessel that is 26 feet in length or less while the vessel is underway, unless inside an enclosed cabin. the sheriff's office said in this case zamora was not required to be wearing a life jacket. this comes just days after 12- year-old auston strole was killed in a boating accident on a different portion of the lake. in that case deputies say strole was wearing a life jacket, but it appeared to have been torn off by the boat propeller.boaters at holiday harbor on monday were pushing for families to take safety seriously.

rob kardashian now has a temporary restraining order against him a judge granted the order yesterday to kardashian's former fiancee blac chyna. it's over a fued that began when kardashian exposed some graphic images of chyna on social media. under california law --- revenge porn is a crime and may be punishable by jail time. chyna says she is afraid to be around her former fiance--- with whom she shares a baby daughter. the restraining order will stay in place until another hearing in august. (robin) jay-z will bring his latest album to life when he hits the road this fall. the rap icon announced the "4:44" tour yesterday. it kicks off october 27th in anaheim. right now he has one date scheduled in the bay area... and that is at oracle arena on december 16th. people who are subscribed to his streaming service "tidal" are already able to buy tickets. tickets for the general public go on sale on friday. (tiffany) breaking news this morning... a military plane crash in mississippi claims 16-lives. authorities are on the scene, but details are scarce right now. john lorinc reports. thick black smoke rising from the ground after a u-s marine corps airplane crashed monday near greenwood, mississippi. fred randle/"we don't want nobody out there, we have fuel everywhere."all sixteen people on board the kc-130 were killed. their identities haven't been released.the fbi is on the scene, along with the leflore county sheriff's department, state and local agents as well as first responders. "at this time, we're getting more information to work this incident, the

(tiffany) this morning... the new bart police chief is defending his department's transparency when it comes to reporting crimes. chief carlos rojas tells kron 4 news that all crimes are now reported on the website, crime-mapping dot com. this is replacing the past practice of emailing a police log of the crimes that happened at bart stations. the chief says more people have access to the information now that it is online. and when it comes to releasing

video of crimes on bart trains the chief tells us that will happen on a case by case basis. (tiffany) the chief would not commit to what the standard would be for releasing a video. chief rojas told us he is not trying to hide information from the public and has not initiated any changes that would do so. (tiffany) palo alto police are looking for a man who carjacked a driver at a gas station. this is a picture of the truck that was stolen. police say the thief stole the truck while the victim was pumping gas at the shell gas station on embarcadero road. when he took off... the thief ripped the gas nozzle and the hose off of the pump.

the car was recovered down the street... but police are still looking for the thief. (tiffany) we might see a vote on the senate healthcare plan by the middle of next week. but the chances of it passing are not yet above two percent. ryan nobles reports on what lawmakers are up against in their push for a new healthcare program. after a week of hearing from their constituents nats:"they absolutely do not care whether people are covered or not!" senate republicans are back in washington greeted by protests as they try to revive their healthcare reform pushnats:but it appears the week outside the beltway is not making the process any easier. sen. susan collins/ (r) maine:"the one and only issue that came up no matter where i was time and again was healthcare."at least 10 republican senators remain opposed to the health care bill in its current form and they are senators from both the conservative and moderate wings of the party. the difference in viewpoints has

left many wondering if a grand deal can be brokered. sen. john mccain/ (r) arizona:"my view is it's probably going to be dead, but i am, i've been wrong."despite the differences in opinions, senate leadership is not giving up yet.mitch mcconnell is hoping his members will find a way to come together. sen. mitch mcconnell/ (r) majority leader: "we're in a big discussion among ourselves that is the senate republican conference about the way forward." mcconnell continues to offer tweaks to the bill. those changes have not been revealed, even to most members. but tweaks alone may not be enough to convince those who are the most firmly opposed. ryan nobles, reporting:"do you think a complete overhaul is necessary to get to a yes?" sen. susan collins/ (r) maine: "i do need a complete overhaul in order to get to yes." meanwhile the white house is sending vice president mike pence to attempt to rein in wayward senators. he spent time with missouri's roy blunt over the weekend and this morning went on conservative radio to promise a deal will get done: "this will be a historic step toward reversing the disastrous and collapsing policy of obamacare and i

promise you, the president and i have not stopped working." and while president trump did tweet about health care, telling senators not to leave washington without passing a quote 'beautiful new healthcare bill,' a white house official tells cnn the president currently does not have plans to play a large role in selling health care prior to his trip to paris on wednesday.democrats who don't have the votes to stop the bill are keeping up the pressure.minority leader chuck schumer and his leadership team sent a letter to mcconnell asking them to considering fixing obamacare in its current form. sen. chuck schumer/ (d) minority leader:"when using bipartisanship as a threat is your only argument, its time to move on."but it is ultimately republicans who will need to strike a deal and even though they have time, optimism is not running high. sen. bill cassidy/ (r) louisiana:"clearly the draft plan is dead. is the serious rewrite plan dead? i don't know. i've not seen the serious rewrite plan." facility. the fumes were from nearby construction. one person was taken to the hospital as a precaution. but all air-traffic in the area was affected. things should be back to normal this morning... but check your flights if you are heading in that direction this morning. (tiffany) the minnesota officer acquitted in the shooting death of philando castile is out of a job. officer jeronimo yanez agreed to a 48-thousand-500 dollar separation agreement yesterday. the minneapolis suburb of st. anthony also will pay yanez for up to 600 hours of accrued and unused personal leave pay. yanez shot philando castile in july of 2016. castile's girlfried who was in the passenger seat, livestreamed the shooting aftermath on facebook. just last month yanez was acquitted of manslaughter in castile's death. (tiffany) happening today... crews in san francisco will remove the final pieces of the sunken

barge called the 'vengeance.' the barge sunk back in april - just south of the bay bridge. it carried at least 27-hundred gallons of petroleum - which was safely removed. workers cut the barge into two pieces, and will use a crane to lift them. crews from the coast guard, department of fish and wildlife and san francisco's emergency management department are working together. the removal will happen later this afternoon. ( darya ) our top story this morning... a bay area tennis coach is accused of raping two of his teenage players and now police fear there may be more ( mark ) will tran is live at the richmond police station with the details. will. ( will ) normandie burgos was arrested yesterday morning and is facing at least 20 sex crime charges. he leads the burgos tennis foundation based out of sausalito. he also trains players in san francisco, richmond and mill valley. one of the victims is 16- years-old. police say he had been sexually assaulted by burgos since he was 14.

the second victim is 18- years-old. officers believe many of the sex crimes happened at the coach's richmond home. this is not the first time burgos has been in trouble. years ago he lost his high school tennis coaching job after sexual battery accusations arose involving four kids. a mistrial was declared and parents rallied for burgos who was heavily involved with tennis instruction up until his arrest. police are urging parents to talk with their kids, since they believe there could be more victims. ( darya ) happening now... firefighters are monitoring hot spots from a small brush fire in in san jose. it was first reported just after 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon near san felipe and metcalf roads. it has burned 40 acres and is 40-percent contained this morning. firefighters say it started as a car fire and then spread to nearby brush. ( darya ) in oroville, four-thousand people are forced to evacuate as the wall

fire burns into its 5th day. the fire has now burned 58- hundred acres. it is 40 percent contained. cal fire says the fire has now destroyed more than three dozen buildings. four people have been injured in this fire. thousands of buildings are still being threatened this morning. ( darya ) firefighters are making progress against the biggest fire burning in the state. the alamo fire in san luis obispo county has burned nearly 29-thousand acres. but firefighters say lower wind and higher humidity yesterday helped them limit the growth of the fire. mandatory evacuations are in effect for the area. the fire is only 20 percent contained this morning. so far only one building has been destroyed. there are no reports of any injuries. ( mark ) happening now... federal officials have set up a special encampment in oakland where a massive four alarm fire tore through a building last week. the a-t-f is helping local investigators figure out if this is the fourth case of arson at buildings under

construction in the last several months. 196 apartments and retail spaces were supposed to occupy that building that went up in flames on friday. fire experts say that the area is still unstable. on sunday a nearby building had several of its windows shatter and glass was all over the sidewalk. ( mark ) we are learning new information about the meeting between a russian lawyer and donald trump junior. according to the new york times... an email to the president's son indicated that the russian government was the source of the potentially damaging information about hillary clinton. the newspaper report cited three people with knowledge of the email from music publicist rob goldstone. goldstone confirmed he set up the meeting with the lawyer. the lawyer said she had information about illegal campaign contributions to the democratic national commitee. trump junior has acknowledged he attended the meeting to learn the information about clinton but says nothing useful came out of that meeting. palo alto police are looking for the man who carjacked a driver at a gas station. this is a picture of the truck that was stolen. police say the thief stole the truck while the victim was pumping gas at the shell gas station on embarcadero road. when he took off... the thief ripped the gas nozzle and the hose off of the pump. ( darya ) two people have been arrested for the murder of a 17-year-old boy from morgan hill. 25-year-old giovanny ortiz and 18-year-old eric carter were arrested at a modesto motel. police say the pair shot alexis cardenas gutierrez in his car in santa clara last wednesday. when officers found the teenager, he had crashed his car. he later died at the hospital. officers say both ortiz and carter are at santa clara county jail and are scheduled to appear in court tomorrow. ( mark ) the mail carrier who was shot last week in oakland while delivering mail... has been released from the hospital. the shooting happened near the

sacramento is accusing police of throwing her to the ground while they were searching for a suspect. the woman says that police were searching her building when they actually meant to be searching the building next door. she says when she warned police that she had a sleeping 18- month-old inside... they grabbed her by the arms and threw her down on her stomach. ( mark ) sacramento police say they were looking for a car thief. police say they are looking at dash cam and body cam video to determine exactly what happened. ( darya ) police in gerogia are investigating one of their own after video of an officer hitting a homeless woman was released online. the cell phone video shows a police officer hitting the woman with a baton inside a

store. it happened on june 4th but the video is just now being released. the incident report says the woman was questioned by police after begging customers for money at the store. that's when police say she pushed the officer. police have now reopened an investigation into the incident. ( mark ) an indiana trooper is being called a hero after he saved a man from a submerged car. it happened friday night when the car went off the road. the 60-year- old man was trapped in his car with water up to his steering wheel. a state trooper got into the water, put a life jacket on the victim and secured him to a safety line that was attached to a fire truck. while the victim was being pulled away from the car, the line broke. the trooper had to carry the man back to safety. doctors say the 60-year-old man is going to be okay. (tiffany) investigators say there is no evidence that a police officer used a racial slur against a car jacking suspect. this morning we also have new cell phone video of the encounter. you can see the officer confronting two men in a pickup truck. police say the person who shot this video said an officer used the n-word while talking with the suspect. but police say the suspect confirmed that the officer ánever used the n-word. the internal affairs department will continue its investigation into the possible use of profanity. but the police department says it is confident that the officer will be cleared. after the initial confrontation there was a brief foot chase when one of the suspects pulled out a gun. the officer fired his gun ... but didn't hit anyone. both suspects were eventually taken into custody. their names have still not been released. back to you in the studio. .

( darya ) the embattled oakland police department could soon face additional monitoring. this comes as the mayor and police chief were called to court by a federal judge. ( mark ) investigators say the police department botched the investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct by its officers. kron four's dan kerman has the story. a federal judge who oversees the oakland police department said the opd "severely mishandled" the investigation into allegations police officers were having sex with this woman, jasmine abuslin, who was an underage prostitute at the time.judge thelton henderson called the investigating "extremely troubling" and said it signals even after 14 years of federal supervision, additional supervision is neededafter apologizing , the city's new chief who was not on staff at the time, told the judge the city of oakland will go above and beyond the recommendations set forth in the investigators report.sot anne kirkpatrick/oakland police chief 38-46one of the ones we

( darya ) the district attorney in alameda county has re-filed felony charges against a former oakland police officer. ryan walterhouse is accused of being involved with a prostitute. just two weeks ago a judge dismissed the charges of obstruction of justice because prosecutors refused to release the name of a confidential informant. a hearing on the prosecutions new charges will be held next week. this case is not related to the sex scandal involving jasmine abuslin. ( darya ) happening today... crews in san francisco will remove the final pieces of the sunken barge called the 'vengeance.' the barge sunk back in april - just south of the bay bridge. it carried at least 27-hundred gallons of petroleum - which was safely removed. workers cut the barge into two pieces, and will use a crane to lift them.

a u-s military plane crash last night has killed 16 marines in mississippi. ( mark ) tiffany mcelroy is at the breaking news desk with the latest. (tiffany) investigators say all 16-marines on board the marine corps plane died when that plane crashed in mississippi. officials just wrapped up a news conference detailing the crash and confirming all on board who were killed were marines. the f-b-i is on the scene this morning along with state and local agencies. this is video from the crash site. witnesses say the plane spiraled out of control and crashed in a soybean field. so far the marine corps has not provided any information about where the plane took off from or where it was going. i will keep you posted on any new developments through out the morning. back to you in the studio. . at the richmond police station with the details. will. ( will ) normandie burgos was arrested yesterday morning and is facing at least 20 sex crime charges. he leads the burgos tennis foundation based out of sausalito. he also trains players in san francisco, richmond and mill valley. one of the victims is 16- years-old. police say he had been sexually assaulted by burgos since he was 14. the second victim is 18- years-old. officers believe many of the sex crimes happened at the coach's richmond home. this is not the first time burgos has been in trouble. years ago he lost his high school tennis coaching job after sexual battery accusations arose involving four kids. a mistrial was declared and parents rallied for burgos who was heavily involved with tennis instruction up until his arrest. police are urging parents to talk with their kids, since they believe there could be more victims.

40-percent contained this morning. firefighters say it started as a car fire and then spread to nearby brush. ( mark ) in oroville, four-thousand people are forced to evacuate as the wall fire burns into its 5th day. the fire has now burned 58- hundred acres. it is 40 percent contained. cal fire says the fire has now destroyed more than three dozen buildings. four people have been injured in this fire. thousands of buildings are still being threatened this morning. ( mark ) firefighters are making progress against the biggest fire burning in the state. the alamo fire in san luis obispo county has burned nearly 29-thousand acres. but firefighters say lower wind and higher humidity yesterday helped them limit the growth of the fire. mandatory evacuations are in effect for the area. the fire is only 20 percent contained this morning. so far only one building has been destroyed. there are no reports of any injuries. ( darya ) happening now... federal officials have set up a special encampment in oakland where a massive four alarm fire tore through a building last week. the

a-t-f is helping local investigators figure out if this is the fourth case of arson at buildings under construction in the last several months. 196 apartments and retail spaces were supposed to occupy that building that went up in flames on friday. fire experts say that the area is still unstable. on sunday a nearby building had several of its windows shatter and glass was all over the sidewalk. ( darya ) and this morning we also have new information from the a-t-f about three other fires that happened in a year's span.( mark ) kron four's spencer blake has the details. these flames on halloween of 2016 were at a construction site on lester avenue in oakland.in the months following, the developer had to do a lot to get going again - demolition, engineering, permits - you name it."finally we were able to start, and we've done some work. there's a lot of work to be done." eight to ten months worth of construction work.over in emeryville - the spot that got set on fire átwice in the span of a year, most recently in may - they're still in the demolition stage.private guards still patrol around the

( mark ) breaking overnight... a united states missile defense system successfully intercepted its target during a test run. tiffany mcelroy has the details from the breaking news desk. ( tiffany @ flash ) the terminal high altitude area defense, or thaad, missile deffense system successfully shot down a target over alaska earlier this morning. military experts have been watching this test closely especially after recent missile tests by north korea. here is video from one of their previous tests. u-s defense officials say the test is not related to north korea's recent ballistic missile launch on july fourth. the defense system is designed to shoot down short, medium and intermediate ballistic missiles. some analysts describe it as "shooting down a bullet with another bullet. while the pentagon called the test a success, some experts

( darya ) u-s border patrol agents helped a woman get down from a fence after smugglers left her dangling 15 feet above the ground. the 37-year-old woman was found on saturday. agents say they saw two smugglers using a harness to lower the woman onto the u-s side of the fence. the pair took off when they saw border patrol agents approaching them. the woman was not hurt. ( darya ) a man is arrested for planning an attack on an ariana grande

concert in costa rica. he was arrested sunday morning just hours before the concert was set to start. the concert went on as planned. police say the 22-year-old columbian man made the threats online. he now faces expulsion from costa rica. this comes just two months after a bombing at an ariana grande concert in manchester, england killed 22 people and injured dozens of others. ( mark ) u-s capitol police have investigated more threats against members of congress in the first six months of the year than in all of last year. that is according to the federal election commission. the number of threats to lawmakers has already reached 950. last year, capitol police investigated 902 threats. last month a gunman opened fire at a baseball practice in washington, d-c , wounding majority whip steve scalise and five others. the f-e-c is weighing a request for lawmakers to use campaign funds for personal security. ( mark ) a pregnant woman in sacramento is accusing

(tiffany) investigators say there is no evidence that a police officer used a racial slur against a car jacking suspect. this morning we also have new cell phone video of the encounter. you can see the officer confronting two men in a pickup truck. police say the person who shot this video said an officer used the n-word while talking with the suspect. but police say the suspect confirmed that the officer ánever used the n-word. the internal affairs department will continue its investigation into the possible use of profanity. but the police department says it is confident that the officer will be cleared. after the initial confrontation there was a brief foot chase when one of the suspects pulled out a gun. the officer fried his gun ... but didn't hit anyone. both suspects were eventually

( darya ) happening today... crews in san francisco will remove the final pieces of the sunken barge called the 'vengeance.' the barge sunk back in april - just south of the bay bridge. it carried at least 27-hundred gallons of petroleum - which was safely

( mark ) the whittier fire in santa barbara county has forced about 35-hundred people to evacuate. it has also threatened a children's summer camp. about 60 kids at the camp became trapped at one point after the road became engulfed in flames. emergency crews were able to fight the fire until the kids could be escorted out by police. the fire has burned over 10-thousand acres and is 25-percent contained. ( mark ) a federal judge overseeing the oakland police department says officials severely mishandled a sexual misconduct case involving an underage prostitute. judge

thelton henderson says the department's investigation into whether several police officers had sex with jasmine abuslin was extremely troubling. henderson says the department now needs additional supervision. oakland has agreed to use the recommendations set in the investigator's report. ( darya ) the district attorney in alameda county has re-filed felony charges against a former oakland police officer. ryan walterhouse is accused of being involved with a prostitute. just two weeks ago a judge dismissed the charges of obstruction of justice because prosecutors refused to release the name of a confidential informant. a hearing on the prosecutions

( darya ) an active duty u-s soldier is being charged with supporting terrorism. sergeant first class ikaika kang was arrested on saturday in hawaii. the f-b-i says that kang had sworn allegiance to isis and agreed to pass sensitive military information to the terrorists. ( darya ) the f-b-i says that no document from the military ever made its way to isis. they also say that kang acted alone. ( mark ) the minnesota police officer acquitted in the shooting death of philando castile..has left his job.

officer jeronimo yanez agreed to a 48-thousand dollar separation agreement. the department will also pay yanez for up to 600 hours of accrued and unused personal leave pay. yanez shot philando castile in july of 2016. castile's girlfried who was in the passenger seat... live streamed the shooting aftermath on facebook. last month yanez was acquitted of manslaughter in castile's death. ( mark ) happening today - a judge could decide if there is enough evidence to send 16 penn state students to trial. investigators say the students failed to help timothy piazza, who suffered a traumatic brain injury from several falls. the students face charges ranging from involuntary manslaughter to alcohol-related offenses. police read text messages in court yesterday that were sent by several students who attended the party. according to police the president of that fraternity texted his girlfriend before calling police. he told her that piazza looked dead and that he didn't want to be held accountable. saved a man from a submerged car in indiana. it happened friday night when the car went off the road. the 60-year-old man was trapped in his car with water up to his steering wheel. a state trooper got into the water, put a life jacket on the victim and secured him to a safety line that was attached to a fire truck. while the victim was being pulled away from the car, the line broke. the trooper had to carry the man back to safety. doctors say the 60-year-old man is going to be okay.
