dolores park. police initially were called to the scene at around eight-thirty last night. police say a skateboarder lost control while riding down a hill and crashed into an officer and then hit a police car. you can see the crowd gathered here at the park. police say people from the crowd began throwing objects at them. no one was arrested. two police cars were vandalized. the extent of the injuries for the two are still unknown. (tiffany) another big story we are following this morning... shocking video of a rat roaming through a busy restaurant in the middle of the day. it happened at a strip mall in daly city. now the health department is taking action. kron 4's j.r. stone spoke with a witness and a restaurant owner who claims his business is clean. this is video showing a rat walking along the counter in a daly city restaurant called upside down burger. video that has gone viral since it was posted on saturday night.

sot when i first seen the rat it's like anything i jumped out of my body i mean seriously i don't want to get bit by the thing i mean i'm a big guy but that will take you down.robert bell recorded this and says he was with his family eating what was a good burger when things took a turn. sot the lady she jumps up.she is screaming, she's yelling, runs and says i'm not eating here i'm not eating here and she points towards the flower jug. sot we here the other lady she drops her water jug she screams i'm like what's going on.sot simotaneously the wife looks at the plant and see the mouse the rat.bell says his family ran out but he stayed in the restaurant to get his refund and recorded video of the rat as he waited. as for who's to blame for the rodentthat's to be determined but the health department is now involved. in two inspections since saturday. upside down burger, has passedso has the dominos two doors downnot the case for house of sisig located right next door to upside down burger. the san mateo county health department has shut them down due to evidence of vermin infestation. we asked the owner of house of sisig, who did show us his restaurant being cleaned, if he is to blame.sot so are the problems coming from your restaurant? i don't think so it might be coming from all of us i don't knowsot they said they saw some infestation said i have to clean it up and everything.

the owner of upside down burger disagrees saying this isn't a building problem or attic problem or the health department would have made sure everyone closed. he allowed kron 4 access to his restaurant tuesday saying he has nothing to hide. he stores just a small amount of food in a small refrigerated area under the grills, even going so far as showing us his contract with a cleaning company that comes every night. robert bell says he doesn't know what happened, why it happened, but says people need to beware. sot the thought of mice rats roming around throughout the day. i can only imagine what happens at night.just that thought had my stomach turning. stomach turning.

(tiffany @ landing) now to the south bay... where dry conditions helped fuel a brush fire that burned two homes and severely damaging another. at least one firefighter injured his shoulder while fighting the blaze. it started just after 4:30 in the east san jose foothills. wind and dry grass and brush helped the flames to spread fast. more than 100 acres were burned. 11 homes are under mandatory evacuation orders. no one was hurt and it's not clear how the

fire started. the fire is near alum rock park in the area of lariat lane and claitor way. firefighters will be there until it's fully contained and hot spots are no longer threats. there is an evacuation center at the berryessa community center on berryessa road. (tiffany) in oroville, some four-thousand people still can't go home as the wall fire continues to burn. the fire has now burned 58- hundred acres. it is 55 percent contained. cal fire says the fire has now destroyed over 40 homes. four people have been injured in this fire. while crews are making progress on putting out the fire some evacuees are getting a little restless. one woman says she tried to go back home but was turned away. are still being threatened today. (tiffany) and a stretch of interstate i-80 that was closed by the fa(i)rad fire in nevada county is now back open this morning. officials say the fire started near the interstate in the westbound direction monday. closing the highway completely. the flames have schorced nearly 700 acres. no structures are threatened at this time. the fire is 20- percent contained. (tiffany) and in southern california... the whittier fire in santa barbara county is nearly 50 percent contained. the fire has forced about 35-hundred people to flee their homes. it has also threatened a children's summer camp. about 60 kids at the camp became trapped at one point after the road became engulfed in flames. emergency crews were able to fight the fire until the kids could be escorted out by police. no one was hurt. (tiffany) in ohio. . . a gender reveal party of a baby turns deadly after two

men enter into the home and open fire. police are now chasing several leads. about 30 people attended the party throughout the day on saturday. it was well- publicized on social media. a short time later a friend of the family says two men in hoodies "swung the door open and started shooting." that source says everyone in the house at time except for one adult and three kids were shot. one woman was killed. one possible lead could be a domestic violence call to the house two months ago. police say there was a fight between a mother and her son. but that lead is one of many.,.

(tiffany @ bam) (tiffany @ bam) (tiffany @ bam) investigators are still working to determine what sparked a massive fire at a construction building in oakland last week. federal officials got their first look inside the burned out building yesterday. this is video taken by quad copter four of the building.. it shows how much damage the building sustained during that fire. as kron 4's terisa estacio reports investigators were able to finally go in and gather evidence as they attempt to

determine a cause. (estacio reporting) crews removed that large crane tuesday afternoon crushed lying on top of what remains of the alta waverly apartment complex which went up in flames last friday. you may recall, during the fire, the crane spun out of control causing serious concern for residents prompting the evacuation of nearly 700 people in nearby buildings. now, officials need it out of the way, as the 22 members of the alcohol tobacco fire arm and explosives bureau entered the fire scene for the first time. watch as they brought equipment into the fire zone looking for critical clues in hopes of uncovering whether this fire was a case of arson. mayor libby schaff, oakland mayor. we are going to find out what happened out there. i tracked down mayor libby schaff to talk about the fire . she told me that a special meeting has been set at the end of the week between city officials and developers to work toward new plan to ensure protection of the cities important construction

sites underaway. schaff. we are going to have a major conference of all major projects hat are under construction this week and will be talking about how we can better coordinate public and private resources to tremendously increase safety at construction sites. the valdez fire is just one of a string of fires recently at construction sites in the area - the atf has deemed 3 as arson, releasing video of a person wanted in connection with the fires. kron four news has learned the complex at 2302 valdez - the site of the most recent fire had a large security presence with guards 24 hours a day and surveillance cameras around the site. video has been given to the atf for review. estacio - in addition to equipment and federal agents - a specially trained dog was also on scene to help out. initial reports was the the fire started in the middle of the development... but that has yet to be determined... and . at one point tuesday, oakland fire officials standing by - had to go in and put out smoldering embers. an atf spokesperson says the investigation is in the beginning stages and it is unknown how long it will take to determine the cause or origin of the fire. in oakland, teresa estacio kron 4

(tiffany) in oakland. the east bay mud board has voted to raise water rates. customers will see their bill go up 19-percent over the next two years. frustrated people packed a meeting yesterday. asking the board to not implement the rate hike. all but one board member voted in favor of the increase. east bay mud has raised water rates an average of seven point one percent annually for the last 10 years. (tiffany) east bay mud says it needs the extra money to keep the system

running and to repair aging pipes. the new rate increase will go into effect today. and next year's increase will begin on july first, 2018. (tiffany) a close call for a santa cruz man. he came face to face with a shark who managed to take a chunk out of his kayak before swimming away. kron 4's spencer blake took a look at the damaged boat and to spoke with the man about the frightening encounter. steve lawson's kayak definitely didn't come off the assembly line this way.those are teeth marks from one of cinema's favorite predator's - a great white shark.tuesday morning lawson says he felt a big bump, as if he had run into a rock."i looked forward and there was a shark with its mouth on the bow of my boat." he kept his cool, mentally, but couldn't stay afloat as the shark knocked the kayak around."i went all the way upside down and then i came out of the boat."in the moments he was in the water with nothing to protect himhe says the shark had already
