and she had this look in here eye as if to say, help me...." the woman, who lives in this r-v, says the kidnapper had arrived moments earlier and wantedher to take the baby, whom she later learned was 8 month old emeliano salinas, who was the object of an amber alert after being kidnapped in soledad.mama ramirez/kidnapper asked her to take baby"....he knocked on the door and woke us up and said come and take this baby, i took this car and theres a baby in it...."next, as the suspected kidnapper was breaking into a nearby car, colin blevin decided it was time to act.colin blevin "....so i snatched up this baby that i didn't know anything about but it wasn't right so a called 911 and asked the guy again if knew the baby and and he just said i gotta go....'as colin was calling 911, the suspect got back in the stolen car and sped off. emeliano, said to be just fine, was reunited with his family a short time later at san jose police headquarters. mama ramirez, as she is known on the street, and colin blevin are both crediting the other for rescuing the stolen baby.mama ramirez".....when i picked him up he was kj nd of stiff at first but then he rea;ized and grabbed at me, i thin he knew he was safe..."

(vicki) in the north bay... police have arrested the woman they say ripped off high school band members at a bake sale last week. this is video kruse walking around the store before going outside to

the bake sale. police say michelle marie kruse used a fake 100 dollar bill to buy baked treats. the students then gave her 80 dollars in change. authorities say when the students discovered the bill was fake they tried to confront her but she left. police arrested kruse at her rohnert park home yesterday. she is facing a string of charges including counterfeit money offenses and drug possession charges. (grant) a family in walnut creek was robbed at gunpoint this morning... in their own home. around 9 this morning, two crooks entered a home on oak grove road near deer-park drive... they waved their guns at the husband, wife and child, before robbing them and running off. this was not far from foothill middle school. the family was not injured. and suspect descriptions are limited at this time - because the suspects wore masks. anyone with information is asked to call police. a fatal collision. it happened around three this morning near grand avenue. the collision involved a vehicle... that struck a pedestrian. police say the driver... tried to speed off after the collision..but was caught...and arrested for felony hit and run. officers are currently interviewing family members of the victimto try and figure out why they were on the highway. a sig-alert was issued shortly afterbecause all southbound lanes were blocked on u.s highway 101. all lanes have since reopened. tracking now... san francisco police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a 71-year-old man. that shooting happened yesterday morning at twin peaks. as kron four's terisa estacio reports, police are now saying they may have a motive and a suspect description. (terisa estacio reporting) peter kwong, friend and colleague. "ed was the most heart felt passionate scout in san francisco. he created a job we all love. peter kwong - a friend and colleague of ed french spoke with me monday about the death of ed french. the 71 location scout - who dedicated his life to making sure san francisco always looked it's best in commercials was found by a jogger sunday morning up at twin peaks. kwong. the last thing he did was out shooting at twin peaks, he was getting the shot with the sunrise coming up.robert rueca, the jogger started giving cpr. and a unit close by started giving aid. san francisco police say french was rushed to the hospital, but died of a gun shot wound. now police are revealing that they have a description of two suspects. there are multiple cameras around the twin peak area, no word on whether they captured an image of the crime, but the suspects are decribed as a black male with dread locks

in his 20s and around 170 pounds and a female also black around 5,3 and 120 lbs. also driving a dark grey honda with rear end damge. police also say that ed's camera was stolen. susannah greason robbins, sf film commissioner. he has been a mentor to many, including myself. susannah greason robbins told me that everyone in her office was having a difficult time dealing with ed's death. kwong, we are a tight community, it has left a hole in our heart.as far as a motive, san francisco police are not saying much, but they did say, ed's camera equipment was missing. in sf, terisa estcio kron four news.

(vicki) this morning in san francisco-- a memorial service was held for the man who died in a plane crash in sonoma county. 38-year-old william sachs goldman was a professor at the university of san francisco. he died when the plane he was flying crashed thursday. investigators are still trying

to figure out what caused the accident. goldman was with his two children and their nanny on the private plane when it took off from the sonoma skypark airport. everyone else on board is expected to be ok after being hospitalized. (grant) first it was an spike in robberies... now - bart police are is seeing an increase in sexual assaults. what the transit agency is saying about it - coming up on kron four news. (vicki) plus, after calling police to report a crime... one woman is now dead after she was shot by officers. now her family is demanding answers as to what happened. (grant) but first, repairs are underway on a massive sinkhole in the east bay... but we'll tell you why several business owners have issues with the repair work.

(vicki) three teens were arrested after attacking a passenger on bart and trying to rob them. it happened at the daly city bart station at around 10:30 last night. the three punched the passenger and tried to take their cell phone. trains were temporarily stopped at the station. police detained the three and they were taken to juvenile hall. (grant) there have been seven sexual assaults reported on bart property and or trains so far this year... in fact, sex crimes have been steadily on the rise over the past two years, with 3

incidents in 2015 and four sexual assaults in 2016. bart officials say the crimes are happening on bart trains, stairwells, and parking lots throughout the bay area (grant) in fact bart police officials say they have made arrests in five of the seven sexual assaults cases that have occurred this year (vicki) repairs have started on a giant sinkhole that opened in moraga more than a year ago. the construction means major road closures... that will impact local businesses and commuters. kron 4's lydia pantazes shows us the work that is now being done.

the sinkhole is located on rheem boulevard at center street near moraga the sinkhole is located on rheem boulevard at center street near moraga road. the repairs will begin today and run through october 7, 2017. during this time, the two- lane section of rheem boulevard at center street, near moraga road, will be closed to all traffic while the sinkhole is being repaired. crews are even going to work saturday and extended hours to help get the repairs done before the rainy season starts. the sinkhole formed in march 2016. you may remember people who live here were so frustrated that they threw the sinkhole a "not so happy birthday party. the town approved a $3.3 million dollar fix to the sinkhole in may of 2016 but repairs were delayed following some red tape in the federal aid funding approval process. you can see the barriers and traffic signs are up warning people that road work will start...

(grant) crews have also started repairs on a section of morgan territory road in clayton that was damaged during the winter storms. the repair work is expected to be completed in mid-october. the road has been closed since february. during the construction period, the damaged stretch of morgan territory road will be completely closed to cars, pedestrians and bicyclists. a temporary access road is available for people who live in the area. (vicki) in texas... the mother of a disabled boy is speaking out about what the latest version of the healthcare bill could mean for her son. holly cole's son anderson was born with spina bifida... a birth defect that left five of his spinal vertebre's completely exposed. so far medicaid has covered anderson's numerous medical expenses... but under the proposed american health care act she could loose that financial assistance. holly says without medicaid there is no way she can pay for all of anderson's medical bills. (holly cole/mother): "i'm not the only parent that feels this way and that knows this, that knows if their services are cut, their children will die... it's just not right to have to try and fight for your child to survive because of laws." holly says after learning about the possible changes to medicad she couldn't keep quiet. she is now writing and calling everyone she can in hopes of changing the proposed bill. (grant) increasing numbers of used needles.... are turning up in cities and towns across the county. even finding their way into rivers, parks and onto

benches. in march alone this year, the city of san francisco says it has collected more than 13- thousand syringes... in the same month last year, the city says it found about 3- thousand. that's 10 thousand more needles this year. people, often children, risk getting stuck by discarded needles, raising the prospect they could contract blood-borne diseases such as hepatitis or hiv. cities are responding to the growing threat by stepping up their tracking and collection efforts. other cities are turning to needle exchange programs. is back home with her parents (vicki) kron4's maureen kelly talked to one of the transit workers who along with a newly upgraded radio system, played a part in making that reunion a reality. the message it came in ways that there was a kidnapping with a six-month-old child involvedmolitoni finau was here at his desk inside sfmta's transportation management center when that chilling call came in sunday morning.police say a father turned away from his baby girl in a car near playground south of market to make a bottle of formula and when he went back found her gone. a witness told police that a female suspect got a bus with the baby. it's really really hard i got three kids i've got a one-year-old and my also something called like that comes and you do the best you can to try and help outfinau, who's only been on this job 3 months, sent out an alert all of operators on the 8 bayshore bus not long after thatthey had a confirmed sighting.the driver confirmed that yes that was someone like that on the bus and they had gotten off at felton. and went into the walgreens so we were able to convey that message back to pd i told then where they've gotten offshe then got on a second #8 bus further down the line and that operator was to call it in and police stopped the bus at arleta and bayshore.where police were able to take the woman and the baby in custody. the child was unharmed in the incident which was resolved in under an hour.a completely stressful situation but the end result was the happiest partmuni says there workers will be recognized for their heroic teamwork.the suspect, who has not been identified, was

(vicki) the wildfire near lake mcclure in mariposa county is forcing residents to evacuate their homes. now being called the detwiller fire-- it has already burned 25-hundred acres. fire crews say it is zero percent contained... and steep areas with heavy brush are hampering

firefighting efforts. the rapidly growing fire has forced janet kirkland and her two pets out their home. (janet kirkland/evacuee): "that's just the way it goes up here on this mountain you just learn to live with it, because every year you take the chance of burning out... my house isn't much but it's all i have i don't want to see it go." p-g-and-e is assisting by de-energizing several power lines in the fire area. cal fire says the wildfire is now threatening several structures... and several roads in the area have been closed. the cause of the fire is under investigation. (grant) search efforts resumed today in arizona...after flash flooding killed at least ten people and left one person missing. heavy rain triggered the saturday flood - sending a river of mud, logs, and rocks roaring down onto a family enjoying a local swimming hole. the sheriff's department says the victims - - included six children between the ages of two and 13...and four adults. the national weather service has issued a flash flood watch for much of arizona through this evening. crews are currently searching for a missing 27- year-old man. (vicki) in florida the massive sinkhole that swallowed two homes and a boat on friday -- has stopped

growing. emergency management officials collected water samples to test for e- coli today families from four homes that were forced to evacuate their homes... were allowed to return over the weekend. crews say five other homes remain unsafe to live in -- the scene is being considered as an area with hazardous material. no injuries have been reported. minnesota are investigating the shooting death of an australian woman.(grant) police responded to a possible assault call saturday....and at one point a weapon was fired. reporter susan- elizabeth little-field spoke to neighbors...on edge tonight. it's known as one of the hottest real estate markets in the twin cities, almost picturesque and for half the weekend, in southwest minneapolis, it was...janelle masterson/neighbor"we had a great feeling of community yesterday after we had a yard sale and then we wake up woke up, dog was barking 1 o'clock in the morning to basically a crime scene roped off our backyard."a scene that's hard to decipher. minneapolis police respond to a possible assault call and then the call turns fatal, a woman was somehow shot by police.the bca is now in charge, our camera caught agents combing this minneapolis police cruiser. hours later, social activists started showing uplisa ganser/neighbor"yeah i wanted to do somethinglisa ganser made a chalk mural, leaving a heart for the woman killed. lisa ganser/neighbor"i like to bring love because it impacts people."one of the people most impacted by this scene showed

(vicki) minneapolis mayor betsy hodges issued a statement saying she is "heartsick and deeply disturbed about this incident." she also says she doesn't understand why the

(grant) in ohio the investigation into a deadly shooting at a gender-reveal party has taken a turn. police reportedly believe the woman targeted at the party wasn't actually pregnant. when this woman spoke to the press -- she said she lost her unborn child after being shot by one of the two men that opened fire. the shooting killed a woman... injured five adults and three kids. police have yet to identify the two suspects... and the reason they targeted the home. (grant) we could soon be saying "goodbye" to those paper tickets - on bart. the transit angency is launching a new pilot program to test a clipper-card only entrance. kron four's will tran shows us where this is happening. it's so new it's a little confusingfor the first time ever.. bart now has clipper only turnstilesthe pilot program is at the berkley bart station at shattuck.if you have a paper ticket it's not going to work at the new entrance(i think it's pretty helpful because sometimes the paper tickets get jammed and it's kind of annoying sometimes. i have never seen the clipper card fail.)(i mean as long as they all accept clipper cards it's ok with me) the new entrance is at a section of the berkeley station that has not been used in close to 20 years.it used a bike station for bart.you can still go to the clipper and ticket entrances on the other side of the berkley shattuck station.but the goal is to eventually have everyone go to the clipper cards.(rebecca saltzman/bart board of dir. pres.- the paper tickets are harder to use. they get jammed. they get demagnitized. they cause more errors. the clipper cards are more reliable and you can also use it on every other transit agency in the bay area)

planes rather than the assigned runway. the flight narrowly avoided a disaster at san francisco's international airport about two weeks ago. the n-t-s-b has interviewed the captain of the air canada plane and they are set meet with the co-pilot and air traffic controllers by the end of the week. to the ntsb says the air canada jet descended to less than 100 feet above the ground and flew over another plane before aborting the landing. the ntsb says it has security- camera video of the late-night incident and will release it in the coming months. pushed back at conservative commentator ann coulter... after she berated the carrier on twitter over a changed seat assignment this weekend. delta tweeted last night saying coulter would be refunded the extra 30 dollars she paid for her preferred seat. they added that her insults about their other customers and employees were "unacceptable and unnecessary." delta's response came after counter posted a series of tweets saturday when the airline gave away an "extra room seat" she had reserved. (vicki) caitlyn jenner is considering running for the california senate. jenner mentioned the possibility yesterday during a radio interview in new york. the reality t-v star would likely run as a republican. she has supported the political party in the past. this is the second time jenner has mentioned possibly running for political office. (grant) o-j simpson... will fight for his release from prison on thursday. that's when the former football star will have a parole hearing in nevada. he's been in behind bars since his

( steve ) keep in mind... the golden gate bridge is not affected in this proposal so we will not touch it. so what happens if this hike goes through? right now the tolls for every bridge except the bay bridge are at five dollars. add three dollars to that... and you're looking at 40 dollars a week in bridge tolls. so if you cross the bay 5-days a week for an entire year... you are looking at close to 21-hundred dollars in tolls every year. ( steve ) now the bay bridge is a different story. the toll varies depending upon the time of the day.

kron 4's washington correspondent jessica smith found out how the proposal would roll student loan payments into a mortgage. pkgu-s student loan debt now totals $1.3 trillion dollars -- and more than 17 million homes sit vacant across the country. ohio congresswoman marcy kaptur says those two trends are connected: kaptur on the floor: "student debt is prohibiting millions and millions from buying their first home." that's why kaptur wants to launch a pilot program in ohio to combine some student loans and mortgages. she says the program would start with college grads who have good credit, and have been making their student loan payments on time. kaptur: "those are the ones we're going to focus on first, because we want the program to be successful. then we want to expand it." kaptur says the program would encourage homeownership and help cities strengthen neighborhoods struggling with vacant or foreclosed homes. kaptur: "we can select homes also, available, in areas that we believe the properties will appreciate."the program could
