arrived... they found two additional grass fires near 'antioch church on the rock'... on walton lane.. neighbors...are on edge tonight. (sot) all four fires were put out within 30 minutes and burned less than an acre. anyone with info or surveillance video is asked to call investigators. (justine) the woman accused of kidnapping a baby over the weekend near a san francisco park - will not face any charges. because, it appears, the father was not telling the whole truth. this happened at colombia park in the south of market neighborhood on sunday.. orginally, police said the baby girl was taken from her father's car when he turned away to make a bottle. the woman accused of taking the

child - was found about an hour later on a muni bus with the baby in her arms. the child was unharmed. sources tell kron four the father picked the woman up... and left her with his baby in the car. and when he did not return...she left with the child. the incident remains under investigation. (justine) in san mateo... a 64-year-old nanny has pleaded not guilty to charges of driving under the influence with a baby inside the car and then hitting a child.(justine) police say (yev-gen-yah) evgeniya (mar-te-nova) martynova crashed her car while trying to park near an elementary school in belmont last month. during the crash martynova hit an 11-year-old child, who was badly bruised. police then found the 7-month-old baby inside the car. martynova had a point-one blood alcohol percent... her next court appearance is in september. (grant) a pastor on the peninsula has pleaded not guilty to molesting three teenagers. prosecutors say

victor tax-gomez molested the teenagers between the years of 20-11 and 20-15. the incidents allegedly occurred while he was the pastor at the greater friendship baptist church in menlo park. tax-gomez claims he was praying with or cleansing the all the victims at the time. he's being held on a 2- hundred and 50-thousand dollar bail. his next court appearance is next month. service is offering a $10,000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for robbing four mail trucks here in san jose in the past twomonths. in the most recent thefts, on tuesday and wednesday of last week, postal service trucks like like this one have been robbed while the letter carrier was away making house to house deliveries.voice of: jeff fitch/u.s postal inspector ".....that's what appears to be happening. they park the vehicle and when they come back they find it has been broken into..."some 350 customers in the area surrounding lincoln and michigan avenues got letters from the post office alerting them of the thefts. residents are advised to be vigilant concerning the possibility credit card and other information may have been compromised. natalie mathison/postal customer

(justine) a steel worker at the new facebook building... is recovering tonight after falling about a dozen-feet down to the ground.(justine) the construction worker was on the fourth floor of the new facebook building in menlo park on tuesday... when the man stepped on loose steel causing him to fall.. he was badly bruised and suffered several injuries. fire officials say the harness the worker was wearing prevented life-threatening injuries... even death. the worker is being treated at stanford hospital. east bay news. oakland...has become the latest california city to ban the sale of flavored tobacco. the city council voted unanimouysly today to prohibit the sale of menthol cigarettes and flavored blunt wraps. the law will take effect next year. the vote comes just a month after san francisco aprroved a similar ban.

the east bay today... as a brand new housing complex got the go-ahead.(grant) but as kron four's terisa estacio reports, this new building is going up in the shadow of that massive fire recently in oakland... and developers say they are ready to take the necessary precautions to make sure this complex will be built. it was quite a contrast - here - there were many smiles and applause - as developers and oakland city officials celebrated the beginning of construction of a new housing and retail space complex called the alexan webster. bruce dorfman, senior managing director trammell crow residential. empty parking lot will look like when the project is set to be completed in 2019. 7 stories high, 234 units, ground level retail space, underground parking and this water tower art element. but as this project kicks off - another construction site is getting broken down. terisa estacio. this ground breaking ceremony took place right next to that - terisa estacio, and that is all that is left of an apartment complex under construction. a few weeks ago a massive fire destroyed the project. federal agents are investigating but the cause has not been revealed yet and there is this issue. while some resident near the fire site suspect arson, there has been 3 other confirmed cases of arson at nearby construction sites in the last few years. oakland council member mc addressed the issue head on. lynette gibson mcelhaney,oakland council district 3. "we can't ignore that site with the fire, but we will rebuild, it is in oakland's character." and i spoke with the developer directly about how they plan to ensure their building gets built. dorfman, tcr . of security." kron four told you exclusively about a private meeting between oakland officials and developers to rally together and increase security around other sites under construction. (justine) a big development today... in the massive fire that gutted several businesses in lafayette. fire investigators say it may have started with a cigarette. the fire erupted one week ago...and within a matter of minutes... the building was consumed by flames. it housed the lafayette chamber of commerce as well as a popular italian restaurant. investigators say they know tonight the fire started on the restaurant's patio.

the flames did over a million dollars in damage... no one was hurt. (grant) an early morning fire that damaged a restaurant in pleasant hill this morning... appears to have started in a pg&e transformer. the fire started out around 2:30 this morning at the black angus steakhouse on main street. when fire crews arrived they found a large transformer on fire and flames spreading to other parts of the building. it took about a half hour to bring the fire under control... no injuries were reported during the fire.... and the cause remains under investigation. (justine) happening now... rescue crews are searching for a missing boater in tomales bay. authorities received an emergency call yesterday afternoon. crews recovered a boat a few hours later but the boat's operator was no where to be found... the boat belongs to tomales bay oyster company. the missing man has been identified as 70-year-old charles friend of oakland... the marin county sheriff department says friend is well known and loved by many people in west marin and tomales bay. friend was by himself and

the detwiler fire has burned more than 45-thousand acres... and is threatening close to two-thousand homes leading to more evacuations today. the entire town of mariposa was ordered to evacuate yesterday. today the area around coulterville was added to the list as the fire rages on. kron4's haaziq madyun found a pair of residents who are staying behind. here at the command post for the detwiler fire, first responders continue to coordinate their efforts to stop the blaze from reaching the town of mariposa. most rsidents evacuated yesterday. today i talked to a pair of men who stayed behind and for good reason, the fire is still raging in the hills dangerously close to homes in

old infant in the stroller at the time. the baby was not hurt. it happened at about 2 this afternoon on willow avenue... not far from meekland avenue. the victim's name has not been released... and it's not clear yet if the man is the baby's father. we also have not heard if any arrests have been made. kron 4 has a crew at the scene... we are gathering more information and will have an update on this story tonight on kron 4 news at 8. smiles and applause. next to the new complex sits what remains of the alta waverly complex. you may recall went up in flames nearly two weeks ago. oakland officials and the developer say they are confident that they have learned from the fire and plan to increase security at the new site. as for the alta waverly, it is in the process of being completed torn down. the developer is in talks with the city to try and work out plans to get it back into construction. the cause has not been determined yet. 3 other similar construction site fires have been linked to arson (( steve )) more than a half dozen people in walnut creek were forced to sleep elsewhere last night after a fire broke out in a vacant condo. (( justine )) it happened at the ygnacio gardens condominiums off ygnacio valley road just after midnight. and, as kron four's philippe djegal reports... fire investigators have not ruled out arson. caused by the fire here is upsetting to the neighbors we spoke to... with all of them saying this could have been a whole lot worse considering it happened when many people were sleeping. but neighbors like this woman, say they're happy to know the couple living in the unit where the fire started, will have to live somewhere else. woman/no name- "i never felt safe with them around but i still did my thing." and, she's not alone. neighbors living below the severely damaged condo say in the past year, police have been called to that condo several times for domestic volence issues. multiple neighbors also say the condo was well-known for housing rampant drug use. woman/no name- "i don't know exactly what drugs they do, but i just know they off the chain." the contra costa county fire protection district responded to the fire just past midnight.robert marshall/fire marshall- "we were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes." fire marshall robert marshall says investigators have spoken with the person on the lease... who confirms they were in the process of moving out of the condo... and, that no one was actually inside when the fire started. marshall says arson has not been ruled out as a cause of the fire. robert marshall/fire marshall-

postal inspectors are investigating a string of mail thefts in san jose.(justine 2- shot) as kron fours rob fladeboe reports, the thieves are targeting delivery trucks and a reward is being offered in the case. in the most recent thefts, on tuesday and wednesday of last week, postal service trucks like like this one have been robbed while the letter carrier was away making house to house deliveries.voice of: jeff fitch/u.s postal inspector ".....that's what appears to be happening. they park the
