is up for parole. the san francisco football legend who went from fame to a nevada prison cell. we are now a matter of hours from seeing o.j. simpson in front of a parole board. he'll be arguing why nevada state parole commissioners should release him from prison. "the juice" has been behind bars on armed robbery charges for eight and a half years. he was sentenced to a maximum 33 years, minimum nine years for his role in an armed robbery case that happened in a las vegas hotel back in 2007 involving sports memorbilia. while many have their mind made up about simpson's crimes past and present the parole board has no idea what they are going to do. (tiffany) another big story this morning... firefighters are hoping cooler overnight tempertures will help them gain progress on a fast-moving fire burning near yosemite.( james ) the detwiler fire in mariposa county is burning out of control. forcing thousands of people from their homes. here's where we currently

stand. the fire has grown to 48-thousand acres it is just seven percent contained 29 structures have been destroyed. some 15-hundred are still in danger.(tiffany) and more than three thousand firefighters from across california are battling this blaze. kron 4's hermela aregawi has the latest on the blaze. the detwiler fire continues to rage..as firefighters throughout the region fight the blaze with air tankers, helicopers and other resources brought in not just from across the state.. but from adjoining states.capt john mancini/santa monica fire department:right now we are just kind of checking out the area really getting an idea of where the defendable place is going to be for us in the event that the wind shift and this fire pushes down on us. as you can see it's kind of lazy right now but the wind is expected to change.5000 people have been evacuated - many of which are in the mariposa area.. there were still some people left behind as of late

this afternoon,there will still some residents left behind.it's a crazy thought. town has been here forever. coming down like that you worry about it getting close to town so it's scary.we've had other fires around that not this bad. if we get a fast wind change then things can be a lot different around here. officials say firefighters are moving through the burn zone inch by inch, acre by acre putting out hotspots to prevent spreading.they're working on steep terrai and moving their equipment through windy narrow roads.so they're asking people to please adhere to evacuation orders.kenichi haskett/cal fire spokesman: if we an issue an evacuation order, it's because there's a threat that a fire will come or is coming to your home. so it's paramount that people leave when we issue that when we do ready set go. we're in the go stage now. people should be set. if they haven't been evacuated to go, they should have their medications ready, they should have their personal belongings, their animals, their well-beings and their families all ready to go and have a plan of where they're going.(hermela aregawi) pg&e will also be here

throughout the night working through the night to restore power in areas where it is safe to do so.there are 5000 people still without power. reporting in mariposa, hermela aregawi, kron 4 news. (tiffany) in the east bay. the search is on for the gunman who shot and killed a father. police say the victm was pushing his baby in a ( james ) the deadly shooting happened this yesterday afternoon on willow avenue near meekland avenue in hayward. kron4's charles clifford spoke to authorities who say that child is now in protective custody. around 3 wednesday afternoon, alameda county sheriff's deputies responded to willow avenue in hayward on reports of shots fired. at the scene, they found one male suffering from gunshot wounds and next to him a 3 month old baby in a stroller. the man died at the

scene, the baby was unharmed. the sheriff's office has also confirmed that the victim is the infant's father.wednesday afternoon investigators spent several hours interviewing witnesses, searching the area for evidence, and looking for surveillance video that might show the man's attackers. the sheriff's office also says this was probably not a random act. sotsgt. ray kelly says we are looking at this being a targeted shooting. the fact that someone is walking a child and someone thinks that's an opportune time to commit a crime like this concerns us. we will definitely be looking into was this a pre orchestrated gang activity or homicide.following the shooting, the child was taken into protective custody and wednesday evening the sheriff's office was still working on reuniting the child with the mother. (tiffany) police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a man outside of an ice cream store in pittsburg. police say the shooting happened around 3 p-m yesterday in front of the baskin-robbins on century boulevard. officers found a 43-year-old man suffering

from multiple gunshot wounds. the victim was taken to a hospital where he later died. police believe the victim may have known the shooter. the investigation is still ongoing. development this morning in the massive fire that gutted several businesses in lafayette. fire investigators say it might have started with a cigarette. the fire erupted one week ago and within a matter of minutes the building was engulfed in flames. it housed the lafayette chamber of commerce as well as a popular italian restaurant. investigators say they know the fire started on the restaurant's patio. the flames caused over a million dollars in damage. no one was hurt in the fire. ( james ) in antioch... police are searching for the suspect behind a string of arsons near a church and school. no one was injured and no structures were damaged in the four small grass fires

that broke out tuesday night. police say all of the fires were set in the same area near lone tree way. two fires started around 9:30 that night in seperate fields near park middle school on spartan way. when crews arrived they found two additional grass fires near 'antioch church on the rock on walton lane.. neighbors are on edge this morning. ( james ) all four fires were put out within 30 minutes and burned less than an acre. (tiffany) the woman accused of kidnapping a baby over the weekend near a san francisco park - will not face any charges. the reason, police say, is that the father was not telling the whole truth. it happened at

colombia park in the south of market neighborhood on sunday. originally, police said the baby girl was taken from her father's car when he turned away to make a bottle. sources now tell kron four the father picked the woman up and left her with his baby in the car. and when he did not return she left with the child. the woman was found about an hour later on a muni bus with the baby in her arms. the incident remains under investigation. (tiffany) big news out of the nation's capitol this morning. arizona senator, and former presidential candidate john mccain has been diagnosed with brain cancer. the former vietnam prisoner-of-war is recovering this morning after doctors removed a blood clot above his eye.( james ) doctor sanjay gupta from our partners at cnn has more on the diagnosis.

has a made a statement of determination on the reversal of the nation's healthcare plan. the president is pushing republican senators to not give up on repealing and replacing obamacare. president trump is tyring to develop a new healthcare plan that will replace the affordable care act. now president trump says there will be consequences for those who choose to block the bill. (tiffany) republican senators say a vote on healthcare will take place next week. political experts say at this point the bill does not have enough votes to ( james ) now to giants news.. "the panda" is back with the giants. well sorta. according to reports pablo sandoval agreed to a minor league contract with teams triple-a sacramento affliliate yesterday afternoon. but the giants have yet to make an official statement

(tiffany) in the north bay... the search for a missing boater in tomales bay has been called off. sheriff deputies say 70- year-old charles friend who goes by "tod" went missing tuesday afternoon. friend is an employee of the tomales bay oyster company. nearby boaters say they saw the boat friend was on going in circles in the water, but friend was no where to be found. search and rescue crews believe friend may have fallen off of the boat. ( james ) a brand new housing complex in oakland broke ground as another one right next to it is being torn down following a massive fire.

the new complex is called the alexan webster. when completed - it will offer more than 200 units and parking. at the ground breaking ceremony, there were many smiles and applause. next to the new complex sits what remains of the alta waverly complex. you may recall it went up in flames nearly two weeks ago. oakland officials and the developer say they are confident that they have learned from the fire and plan to increase security at the new site. (tiffany) in san jose... the u-s postal service is offering a reward on information on suspects who robbed four mail trucks. postal service inspectors say robberis have occurred in san jose for the past two months. they say the robberies occurred while mail carriers were making house deliveries. all four cases are being investigated a conviction for mail theft carries the possibility of a 2-hundred and 50-thousand dollar fine. questioning if someone started a fire in an empty condo in walnut creek on purpose. the fire started just after midnight on yganicio valley road at the ygnacio gardens condominiums. the contra costa county fire protection district says it had the fire under control within 20- minutes. investigators say the person on the lease of the condo that burned claimed to be in the process of moving out and that no one was inside when the fire started. five condos in total were damaged. crews are still investigating. marshawn lynch is buying the restaurant he used to go to as a kid growing up in oakland. he is purchasing scend's restaurant and bar. a soul food establishment that's been on the oakland- emeryville boarder since 1967 current owner cassie nickelson is turning 80 next month and will be retiring as she feels it's just the right time. she was going to close the restauant until lynch offered to buy it nickelson says she's comfortable with lynch and likes him so his decision to buy the establishment leaves it in trusted hands.

(tiffany) more than three thousand firefighters from across california are still battling the fire near the southern entrance to yosemite national park. right now the fire has burned 48- thousand acres and is seven-percent contained. it has destroyed 29 structures. it is not clear how many of those structures are homes. 15-hundred homes are still in danger. about five- thousand people have evacuated their homes, but some pepople have stayed behind.

area anti-fascist leader and teacher was arrested for a political brawl that happened last year. 47-year-old yvette felarca was arrested on charges of inciting and participating in a riot. she was also charged with assault. the charges stem from a brawl between white nationalist groups and counter- protestors that happened in sacramento. felarca was a teacher at martin luther king junior middle school in berkeley. she was placed on leave when video of the brawl surfaced on youtube. ( mark ) the woman accused of kidnapping a baby over the weekend near a san francisco park - will not face any charges. investigators say that the father may not have been telling the whole truth. this happened at colombia park in the south of market neighborhood on sunday.. originally, police said the baby girl was taken from her father's car when he turned away to make a bottle. sources now tell kron four the father picked the woman up... and left her with his baby in the car. and when he did not return... she left with the child. the woman was found about an hour later on a muni bus with the baby in her

family is demanding answers after they were kicked off of a jetblue flight in florida. they say the crew kicked them off the plane because of their upset baby. the woman in the video says her one-year-old daughter was agitated... and started kicking the seat in front of her. and that's when that passenger threatened to tie her daughters feet together. (tiffany) the shooting happened in hayward yesterday afternoon. the father was walking with his baby on willow avenue near meekland avenue. that's when someone drove up and started shooting at the man. when officers arrived they found the man on the ground and his three-month-old baby in a stroller. the baby was not hurt in that shooting.. the sheriff's office is saying they don't believe this shooting was random.

15 year old boy have been arrested. police say they are all tied to richmond's manor boys street gang. authorities say the men are responsible for murder... human trafficking and a variety of other felony crimes throughout the bay area. police are still looking for two other gang members... one of whom is wanted for murder. ( darya ) investigators are questioning if someone started a fire in an empty condo in walnut creek on purpose. the fire started late tuesday night at the ygnacio gardens condominiums. investigators say the person on the lease of the condo that burned claimed to be in the process of moving out and that no one was inside when the fire started. five condos were damaged in the fire. ( darya ) police are searching for thieves who robbed an east bay jewelry store. the robbery happened yesterday morning at ron's jewelry store in antioch. four crooks smashed display cases and stole merchandise. the robbers even peppered sprayed an employee. one employee was treated for minor injuries. the

(tiffany) more than three thousand firefighters from across california have been called in to battle the massive fire near the southern entrance to yosemite national park. right now 48-thousand acres have burned and the fire is seven-percent contained. it has destroyed 29 structures. it is not clear how many of those structures are homes. but we do know that 15- hundred houses are still in danger. about five- thousand people have evacuated, but some pepople have chosen to stay behind.

( mark ) the large fire that destroyed several businesses in lafayette may have been started by a cigarette. that's according to fire investigators. the fire erupted one week ago and within a matter of minutes the building was engulfed in flames. it housed 9 businesses.. including the lafayette chamber of commerce as well as the popular italian restaurant, la finestra investigators say they know the fire started on the restaurant's patio. the blaze did over a million dollars in damage. no one was hurt in the fire. ( darya ) police are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a man outside of a ice cream store in pittsburg. the shooting happened yesterday afternoon in front of the baskin-robbins on century boulevard. officers found a 43-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. the man died at the hospital. police say the victim may have known the shooter. teacher was arrested for a political brawl that happened last year. 47-year-old yvette felarca was arrested on charges of inciting and participating in a riot. she was also charged with assault. the charges stem from a brawl between white nationalist groups and counter- protestors that happened in sacramento. felarca was a teacher at martin luther king junior middle school in berkeley. she was placed on leave when video of the brawl surfaced on youtube. ( mark ) the woman accused of kidnapping a baby over the weekend near a san francisco park - will not face any charges. investigators say that the father may not have been telling the whole truth. this happened at colombia park in the south of market neighborhood on sunday.. originally, police said the baby girl was taken from her father's car when he turned away to make a bottle. sources now tell kron four the father picked the woman up... and left her with his baby in the car. and when he did not return... she left with the child. the woman was found about an hour later on a muni bus with the baby in her arms. the incident remains under investigation.

( darya ) the parents of a toddler who was shot and killed by her 6-year-old brother have been sentenced. the shooting happened in toledo, ohio back in december. the little girl was shot in the head when her brother was playing with their father's gun, accidentally pulling the trigger. the parents have been charged with negligent homicide for not properly securing the gun. they were sentenced to two years probation and 100-hours of community service. ( darya ) we are hearing from one of the survivors of a deadly flash-flood in arizona that killed at least nine people. a family was celebrating a birthday at a swimming hole when the flood hit over the weekend. the woman celebrating her birthday along with her three young children, mother and other relatives were killed. a body was found yesterday, and authorities believe it is her husband who has been missing since the incident. an eight-year-old boy who was with his relatives says a good samaritan pulled him to safety when the flood hit.

(tiffany) the shooting happened in hayward yesterday afternoon. the father was walking with his baby on willow avenue near meekland avenue. that's when someone drove up and started shooting at the man. when officers arrived they said they found the man on the ground and his three-month-old baby unharmed in a stroller. the sheriff's office is saying they don't believe this shooting was random.

( darya ) in the east bay... police arrest several people believed to be members of a notorious street gang in richmond. after months of investigation... these five men and an un-named 15 year old boy have been arrested. police say they are all tied to richmond's manor boys street gang. authorities say the men are responsible for murder... human trafficking and a

( mark ) in the north bay...the search for a missing boater in tomales bay has been called off. sheriff deputies say 70-year-old charles friend went missing tuesday afternoon. friend is the owner of the tomales bay oyster company. nearby boaters say they saw the boat friend was on going in circles in the water with friend no where to be found. search and rescue crews believe friend may have fallen off of ( mark ) police are searching for thieves who robbed an east bay jewelry store. the robbery happened yesterday morning at ron's jewelry store in antioch. four crooks smashed display cases and stole merchandise. the robbers even peppered sprayed an employee. one employee was treated for minor injuries. the thieves have not been caught. ( darya ) a family is demanding answers after they were kicked off of a jetblue flight in florida. they say the crew kicked them off the plane because of their upset baby. the woman in the video says her one-year-old daughter was agitated... and started kicking the seat in front of her. and that's when that passenger threatened to tie her daughters feet together.

is hitting parts of northern california... the oroville dam spillway crisis has left behind gold nuggets in the yuba and feather rivers. construction workers at the spillway and amateur gold- seekers are finding gold flakes and nuggets in the rivers. when the spillway failed back in february, new channels were cut in the ground, taking soil off the bedrock. the owner of a yuba city coin dealership says its exciting to see the uptike in people bringing in gold nuggets to cash in.
