suspects who they say shot a man to death in san francisco's marina district. these are surveillance photos of the 2 men police believe are responsible. the shooting happened back in may on alhambra street. 32-year-old kelly freeman was found with a gunshot wound to the head and later died at a hospital. anyone with information is encouraged to call police. at saturday evening while driving northbound on highway 242 just past the 680 split. the bullet ripped through the right rear passenger window and lodged in the left rear passenger door. just inches behind where he was sittingsot joe cerletti/pittsburg resident he wasn't firing a warning shot, he wanted that bullet inside the vehicle.cerletti says it happened shortly after 9pm. he was northbound on 680 approaching the 242 split when he spotted a vehicle driving erratically behind him. suddenly the 2017 white mercedes c-l-a 250 pulled along side him, and cut him off, forcing him to slam on his brakessoti made the mistake of rolling down my window and i looked over at him and i said man what the hell, i almost hit you what's going on seconds later a single gunshot and shattered glasssotbang just like being at a gunrange, it was that loud my first worry was are there going to be more shots. there were not the gunman who cerletti describes as a white male in his late 20's or 30's drove off into the night, as

daryl neal junior turned himself in on sunday. the deadly shooting happened on wednesday at the baskin robbins on century boulevard. police found a 43-year-old man with several gunshot wounds once they arrived on scene. the victim has been identified as robert hopkins junior. officers identified neal as the shooter after searching his home. the shooting remains under investigation. (vicki) for the past two and a half years he taught music to teenagers at a popular music school in palo alto. tonight, as kron four's rob fladeboe reports, palo alto police say the teacher has been arrested on suspicion of committing sex crimes against one of his under age students. this is the mug shot of 35 year old music teacher john patrick root, who was arrested in san francisco for allegedly abusing a 15 year old female, who was one of his students here at the school of rock in palo alto.lt. david

reifschneider/palo alto police "......on july 13th our detectives received a tip from another law enforcement agency that there was some suspicion that a teacher at the school as having an inappropriate relationship with a juvenile student so our detectives...." police say the victim is a 15 year old female and that root had taught at the school of rock for the past 2 and a half years. in a statement, the school said it is cooperating with police and said that root had undergone a background check and had complied with a code of conduct. police are now investigating whether other students may be involved. lt. david reifschneider/palo alto police ".....there is no information right now to indicate that there are other victims but it is noteworthy that mr root worked at the school for two and a half years before this conduct was uncovered so it is not out of the range of possibility that there may be other victims..."rob fladeboe/palo altoin it's statement, the school of rock said that the teacher has been terminated and that as soon as it learned of the allegations, it notified it's parent community about the on going

general jeff sessions has taken a very weak position in hillary clinton crimes, where are e-mails and d-n-c server, and intel leakers?!" successor jerry brown on san francisco's treasure island today. brown signed a bill keeping 'cap and trade' alive until 2030.the program puts a cap... and a price on carbon emissions. it was created under legislation signed by schwarzenegger in 2006 and had been set to expire in 2020. both governors promote cap and trade around the world as a successful way to reduce emissions without destroying economies. altercation outside a bar near michigan state... where green played college ball. green was arrested and charged... but later had his charges lowered as part of a plea dead to a noise infraction...for which he paid a 500-dollar fine. (sot) "i have never felt so low in my life. i felt like i was being kicked when i was already on the ground. i ended up leaving msu for a little while. i think about what happened with draymond every day. i still feel his hand on my jaw. there are nights when i wake up crying. edmondson...a former football player at michigan state... says he still suffers from neck pain and headaches resulting from the incident... the lawsuit is expected to ask for an apology...as welll as money.

(vicki) the santa rosa fire department is investigating two suspicious grass fires that ignited over the weekend. both fires occurred in open space areas, one near an historic cemetery and the other near flat rock park. the first fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. saturday and burned one-third of an acre along the santa rosa creek bike path. firefighters say a suspicious person was seen leaving the area when the fire started. the other fire occurred around 12:45 a.m. sunday also along the santa rosa creek bike path. it burned less than one-quarter of an acre and threatened nearby homes. so far, no arrests have been made. (grant) the detwiler fire has scorched almost 79- thousand acres... containment is up to 65-percent tonight. more than 60 homes have been destoryed. more evacuation orders have been lifted... mainly in the southern part of mariposa county. however, people are still being told to stay out because of the flames. and there are people who

are trying to take advantage of the situation. and the mariposa county sheriff's office has arrested a couple looters. the sheriff's office says it arrested these three for stealing equipment from a fire truck. the sheriff's office says they found a generator, first aid kit, power tools and numerous other items. the also found needles and a pipe used to smoke methamphetamine. the bay and the valleys overnight. you can see on the satellite image the fog near the coast but it's the area of low pressure that's really helping to keep the temperatures down. the low will slowly weaken and begin to kick east tomorrow which will allow the temperatures to warm up again heading toward the weekend. temperatures will be in the 90s to low 100s in the central valley. plan on 70s in los angeles and santa barbara. it will warm a few degrees tomorrow where temperatures will move back into the 90s inland, 70s and 80s around the bay and 60s with patchy fog at the coast. it will warm up the next couple of days with hot temperatures inland and cool fog at the coast. highs will be near triple digits in the valleys over the weekend. (grant) the suspect, 18-year-old obdulia sanchez... is currently in the merced county jail on suspicion of dui and gross vehicular manslaughter. (grant) a san francisco man has been arrested after he was caught on camera abusing a puppy. we want to warn you this video is difficult to watch. 26-year-old zixuan liu pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor counts of animal abuse. liu was captured on film abusing his ten-month- old male shiba inu named aniki. you can see him hitting, kicking and cruelly mistreating the puppy. conditions of liu's three- year probation state that he is not allowed to possess animals and that he must forfeit aniki. this is aniki now. aniki is now on his way to a happy life with northern nevada shiba inu rescue.the rescue group says they are working to find the best possible home for aniki. assault of a man outside the richmond bart station is now under investigation by richmond police. video evidence is not being released to the public, but is now in the hands of police investigators. bart has come under fire for their handling of the incident. but a source close to the investigation, who has seen the video, tells kron4's haaziq madyun...he stands by the bart police response. the video paints a different picture. that is how a bart source close to the investigation describes last thursday's violent attack of landon sims outside the richmond bart station. on friday richmond mayor tom butt, who witnessed the tail end of the assualt, descibed it as a group of teenagers attacking a man on the ground however according to a bart source the video shows sims interacting with a group of adults in their late teens to early twenties and that sims at one point takes off his jacket in preparation for a physical

(vicki) an update now to our top story.... a baby is recovering tonight at a hospital in the east bay - after being abandoned by his father in a strip mall parking lot. (grant) as kron four's terisa estacio reports, the baby's mother is pleading for help tonight for her young son. terisa estacio, reporting, oakland kron four news has learned this abandoned 16 day old baby boy was rushed by helicopter here to ucsf benioff children's hospital in oakland. a picture of the baby - his mom on facebook says his name is ma khye daniel jesse mitchell. born just days ago in early july. his mom, kalon mitchell also posting this plea on facebook- quote, please pray for my baby boy." it was posted just hours, after this - this is surveillance video police say that captured, the boy's father, 18 year old daniel mitchell dumping the infant at the sunset shopping center in suisun monday afternoon at 3:15. the baby left without a bottle, just alone in a car seat on the hot pavement in the afternoon sun. police say employees working close by saw the baby carrier - and when the went to go look inside, the discovered the infant. the baby was quickly brought inside out of the heat and as you can see in these images, medical personnel were called and examined the child. he was then taken to a local hospital in the suisun area, but a medical emergency arose, and he was care flighted to children's hospital in oakland. police caught up with mitchell when he crashed his

car shortly after ditching his son. they matched his vehicle plate from the surveillance video. kron four news spoke with family members who declined to go on camera, but said they do not know what exactly happened in this case. and are now asking for privacy as they try and figure out why little ma khye was abandoned in front of a smoke shop. the baby's mother - kalon posted on facebook the two where married last august. kron four news is learning, that mitchell recently had a run in with the law. he was arrested in late june for being in possession of a fire arm and suspected in a burglary case. currently, mitchell is in custody in the solano county jail, he is facing child endangerment, child abandonment, committing a felony while out on bail, and misdeamoner posession of suspected cocaine. he is scheduled to be in court on wednesday. as far as baby ma khye - a hospital spokesperson says they can not provide an update on his condition right now. in oakland, terisa estacio kron four news. the death of ten undocumented immigrants in san antonio, texas was driving with a suspended commercial license. (vicki) the florida department of highway safety and motor vehicles says... 60-year-old james matthew bradley junior's license was disqualified back in april. bradley was issued a commercial driving license in 20-04 but failed to provide an updated medical card. officials say it would have been against the law for bradley to have another commercial license from a different state. bradley faces charges for transporting immigrants for financial gain resulting in death. (grant) a man in houston, texas is being credited for taking out a man who was suspected of driving intoxicated.(grant) alejandro fernandez managed to drag 28-year-old (sir-cone) sirkon ash out of his ford mustang monday evening. fernandez was driving with his family when ash nearly

a new report highlights serious brain disease in former football players...from high school athletes - to n-f-l millionaires.(vicki) catherine heenan is here with details on the troubling results.. (catherine) researchers from boston university studied the brains of 202 former football players....findingevidence of brain disease in nearly 'all' of them... the disease - known as c-t-e - has been linked to repeated head blows... these results confirm it can happen even in young players. of the 202 deceased players -- 111 had played for the n-f-l. 110 of them - all but one - hadsuffered from the degenerative disease. they were not random samples......some of the brains had been donated for study specificallybecause the players 'had' demonstrated

symptoms....which range from memory loss to dementia. still -- it's still considered significant evidence of an n.f.l player's risk of developing c-t-e. the nfl's top health and safety official has acknowledged a link between footballand c-t-e -- and the league has begun steering children away from playing the sport in its regular form...... vicki? (grant) today the senate took a big step forward on one of president trump's campaign promises... health care reform... but that's not the only trump campaign promise congress is working on this week. pam moore is in the newsroom with what's coming up on kron 4 news at six. pam? new hampshire has put up signs urging drivers not to give money to people panhandling on the street.the police chief says while the message may seem harsh - it's based on an effort to fight the drug crisis.the signs ask drivers to instead give their money to local charities to help those in need. it lists places to go for food, shelter and help. manchester police say they're concerned because between 2015 and june 1st this year - 24 people involved with panhandling overdosed, six of them died. "the large majority of that population are feeding some sort of addiction or have some underlying mental illness, and to just give them five dollars and potentially lead to a fatal overdose - i'm sure that's not what the person who's giving would really want." some drivers still open their windows and wallets in front of the new sign - others say they are heeding this advice. (grant) there's another of those studies claiming to pinpoint the very best cities in theunited states to live in...(vicki)

the latest study was done by 'wallet hub' -- and it has some bay area residents a little upset.. catherine heenan is here to explain... (catherine) we're probably a little spoiled in the bay area.... where we expect cities like san francisco to be right at the top of just about any list like this.;.. but in this latest survey - san francisco didn't even make the top 15.it's number 16 on a list that looked at things like education and quality of life. but it also looked at things like affordability...which didn't help the score. number one on 'wallet hub's' list -- virginia beach, virginia. followed byseattle and pittsburgh. in the bay area...san jose did a lot better than san francisco - coming in at number 10. oakland ranked number 50 -- with a score that was low in the safety category. bottom line....a lot of people are irked that places like omaha, nebraskaedged out 'baghdad by the bay.' vicki and grant? a 19 year old man has been arrested in a deadly shooting outside a baskin-robbins ice cream store 43-year-old bethel island resident robert hopkins was killed after he was shot multiple times outside the baskin-robbins on century boulevard. police identified 19-year-old larry daryl neal jr. of antioch as the shooter. after initially evading police, neal turned himself in to police. he was booked on an outstanding warrant. the shooting remains under investigation.
