happened around 2:30 at sfo... when a copa airlines flight from panama city had just landed and was waiting to pull up to its gate. that's when the 17-year-old boy opened an emergency exit by one of the wings... and jumped down onto the tarmac. an airfield construction crew was able to tackle the teen... until police got there. the flight proceeded to the arrival gate - and everyone got off. kron four's spencer blake is on his way to the airport to meet with passengers who were on board that flight.

(grant) we are following breaking news out of yuba county - where two deputies have been shot after confronting a man allegedly stealing marijuana plants. the deputies were called to a rasta-farian church.. where they were told a disgruntled employee was pulling out the plants. the man opened fire... hitting the two deputies. deputies returned fire... but the shooter got away. we just learned he has been found dead in a home - no other details have been provided on how he died. the deputies were both airlifted to a hospital and are listed in critical

(rob live) the experts say it takes about 15 minutes a car parked in the sun on a hot day like this to become a death trap. that didn't happened in this case because a tow truck driver came along just in time. it was just before 5 o'clock monday when a freeway service provider tow truck stopped to check out what he thought was a disabled vehicle here on highway 17 near 280. he found the female driver was passed out and her 2-month old daughter was in the passenger seat.officer ross lee/chp "....the windows were rolled up and the temperatures outside was ovr 90 degrees so the temperature inside the vehicle was much higher. the child appeared to be asleep

but she was panting...." 26-year old arianna rolling of san pablo was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence the baby was taken to valley medical center and is listed in good condition. babies and children are especially vulnerable in such cases says vmc trauma surgeon dr. adella garland.dr. adella garland/valley medical center "....we tend to associate this with high temperatures but the truth is even with an outdoor temperature of 60 degrees, within 10-15 minutes the temperature can reach a level that is dangerous. dr garland says babies and children have less ability to control their own body temperatures so they can overheat three to five times faster than adults. the chp says both mother and her child were at risk in this case.(officer ross lee/chp "....we're very grateful to the tow truck driver because any longer in that car and the outcome might have been a lot worse...."arianna rolling is also facing charges of abstructing a peace officer and child endangerment.the chp says child protective services

'covered california' says it's one of the obama-care success stories. about one point four million people have signed up . the state has gone from 'above' the national average for uninsured residents - to 'below.' today's announcement of a 12 and a half percent hike follows a 13-point-two percent jump last year. but with a little shopping around, some bay area residents could actually see their costs drop. in santa clara county, for instance, rates are exected to rise a little over ten percent, below the state average, but the bigger than any other bay area county. that's if you don't change plans.if you're willing to shop around, you can save money without changing your metal tier ... if you're using the silver option, you can still keep the same option, just with a different carrier. in san mateo, the hike is smaller, but you could still cut your costs.the same is true in san francisco.no matter where you are in the bay area, shopping around pays

off.covered california says rising health costs are driving up prices.but as premiums go up, so do federal subsidies.and even though the trump administration has threatened to cut off those subsidies, covered california has agreed to pay them through next year. (catherine) bottom line, according to covered california: almost 55 percent of consumers will either be able to pay less or see their rate go up by no more than 5 percent - that's 'if' they're willing to switch plans. grant? (grant) more trouble for wells fargo... the bank is now facing a lawsuit for charging customers for car insurance they did not sign up for. wells fargo says over 500-thousand customers were affected by auto insurance policies between 20-12 and 20-17. an internal review found.... about 20-thousand customers

may have defaulted on their car loans, and lost their vehicles, because of the unnecessary costs. the bank promised to pay the customers 80-million-dollars in compensation. wells fargo says it plans to start sending refund checks and letters to customers this month. more than 5-thousand employees were fired for opening around 2 million phoney accounts. (vicki) investigators are looking into what sparked a fire at a north bay elementary school... firefighters were called to dixie elementary school... which is located in the lucas valley- marinwood area for a fire. the roof of a building that holds classrooms and officers was under repairs - when the fire broke out around 6 last night. some construction workers were still on site when the fire broke out on the roof. tar, propane torches and roofing paper were on the roof at the time and investigators believe one of them may have caught fire. the first day of school is just a few weeks away - which has parents wondering if the school will open on time.

(vicki) firefighters say four people are without a home this evening...after a fire scorched an encapment in oakland. three tentsas well as a s-u-v were damaged by the flames. it happened near interstate 980 around 10:30 this morning. this is a picture of the smoke sent in by a viewer. crews determined the fire started in one of the tents before spreading to two othersthen to the vehicle. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. no one was hurt. the san francisco run of the blockbuster musical 'hamilton' is nearing its end... but if you haven't seen it - you're in luck. producers announced today that it will return to the city in early 2019. hamilton launched a national tour at san francisco's orpheum theatre on march 10th... and closes here this weekend

(vicki) the school's principal issued an email recently announcing the program was facing a possible cancelation - this upcoming year - due to.... not enough people showing up for practice for the varsity team. (grant) as kron four's terisa estacio reports, news has spread quickly and now many are fighting to make sure the program lives another season. at practice tuesday afternoon - players set their sights on drills - but also confronting these players whether this all was for nothing. the principle here at novato high school sent out an email recently warning that varsity football at the north bay high school was in trouble of being dumped. greg we only had

a handful of kids showing up and that is not enough for a team. assistant greg says - the school realizes kids can't always make summer practice with family obligations, but they need commitments or else, no ball. greg. we wanted to inform that it could go away if not enough. francisco's tenderloin leaves a woman without her eyesight. (vicki) kron4's maureen kelly talked to police who are looking for the suspect who threw bleach in the victim's face. that's just not right..news off the attack shocking even to long time residents of the grittiest area of the city. police say it happened here on the 100 block of eddy street just before 73o sunday evening. the suspect an adult black male to her to get up and leave. the suspect walked away and came back with a cup in his hand he threw at here which she believes was bleach the suspect fled and the 57 year old female vcitm, now blinded, goes around the corner to mason street and sits down.one man says he came up on the victim after the attack and she sounded like she was in pain.she was like aaaaahhhh. i wanted to help her but i couldn't because i didn't know what the situation was.the womam could be seen in surveillance camera video outside this low income housing development after the attack. i was able to see the videoand you can see the woman sitting crosslegged on the ground wiping her eyes occasionally. many people

walked on by her.before it appears someone finally called for help. according to the timecode on the video the woman was left to suffer for close to 15 minutes until first responders arrived to treat her. she was transported to the hospital. it's also unknown if the damage to her vision is temporary or permanent. police are looking for more witnesses and surviellance video to help them solve this case. maureenelly kron4 news (grant) we are getting a look surveillance video of a smash and grab robbery at a costco in novato. you can see the men stealing the jewelry... this comes on the heels of

several other costco robberies including a store in danville, where thieves struck twice. police are reviewing this surveillance video trying to identify the suspects. (vicki) happening tomorrow... the woman found guilty of pressuring her boyfriend to kill himself - will be sentenced in boston. michelle carter was found guilty back in june - of involuntary manslaughter... after her boyfriend - 18- year-old conrad roy poisoned himself by inhaling carbon monoxide in his pickup truck. although cater was not present when roy killed himself, her text messages and conversations with him proved damning. the case could set legal precedent for whether it's a crime to tell someone to commit suicide. carter faces up to 20 years in prison. the job was also his last... after he allegedly stole 100- thousand dollars out of his own company's armored truck. the fairfield police department says larry brooks was caught on security camera stealing the cash.... from a truck belonging to garda... an armored car company for which he'd just started working. security officers have recovered about 85- thousand dollars of the money from a car the next day - but it's not known what brooks did with the rest of the money. books has been charged with second degree theft and obviously no longer works for garda. convenience stores in break rooms, is set to host a chipping party for people who are down to try it. the chips, embedded between the thumb and index finger, are the size of a grain of rice. with the scan of a hand... the microchips allow workers to open doors, log into computers and pay for food in the break room. the company says it's the first in the u-s to make such an offer. three square market notes the radio frequency identification chips do not have g-p-s tracking abilities. they say at least 50- employees are taking them up on the offer. (nats: fireworks)the city of san jose has cracked down on illegal fireworks this summer. despite warnings many warriors fans let some loose to celebrate the championship win on june 12th.a fine from the city claims amy guzeles is one of them.sot: amy guzules, fined for fireworks// "i don't really follow basketball no. i mean the warriors are great and all and i'm glad they're doing well but i was in my house working.
