teacher at enlightenment studio placed a camera inside one of the bathrooms. police say nguyen was also in possession of a inapropriate image of a 10-year-old. san jose police was first alerted about this crime on july 30. since then enlightenment studio has been closed issuing a statement to parents. (vicki) the studio says quote... we regret to inform you that the studio will be closed temporarily throughout the duration of the investigation. the safety of our students is our priority.(vicki) authorities say nguyen was arrested and booked into the santa clara county jail. (grant) two yuba county sheriff's deputies are in fair condition tonight...after a shootout near a marijuana farm just north of sacramento. the yuba county sheriff's department says the two deputies were shot yesterday... after confronting a man who was stealing pot plants. the deputies chased the suspect into a house ...where there was a shootout. a swat team later found the suspect dead.

authorites have not identified the suspect. the deputies were airlifted to a hospital...they are expected to fully recover. (grant) we are learning new details tonight - about that near collision at s-f-o last month.. that's when an air canada plane almost landed on a crowded taxiway....insetad of the runway where it was supposed to touch down. new images show just how close that jet - came to crashing into other planes. as the plane made its way towards the taxiway - áinsteadá of the runway... the plane flew as low as 59 feet above the ground. that's about the size of a six story building... and barely taller than the four planes that were on that taxiway waiting to take off.

bay are seeing a spike in car thefts... however, thieves are now targeting a specific vehicle. kron four's terisa estacio reports. terisa estacio, reporting, newark. it was early in the morning - when the owner of a honda civic came out here to the parking lot at the newpark mall and realized it had been stolen. (reporting) actually, take a look at this map - in less then 24 hours tuesday, four honda civics were reported stolen in newark. in fact, in the last few months, there has been 12 civics in total reported stolen in newark alone. captain chomnan loth, newark police dept. they are a popular car to steal.and add this to the equation - in neighboring fremont they had a 45 percent spike in auto thefts in june. and year to date, the alameda county regional auto task force revealed to kron four - that the civic is the number one car stolen with 78 stolen so far this year, and that is

(grant) the contra costa office of the chp is taking new steps to educate its officers about an investigative tool that has, up uptil now, been under utilized. centurybut this broken car mirror ended up revealing a sizable gap in communication at the contra costa chp office. we apologize and we assure you we don't wanted to happen again and will take every effort to prevent it from happening again last week this antioch resident, who wants to remain anonymous called chp because a motorcycle rider punched out her mirror while she was driving thru pittsburg. because she had seen reports on kron4 about the camera system set up on that stretch of roadway she asked the chp officer who responded to her call about looking at the footage to try and catch the culpriut in her case. she was frustrated by his response.he said basically the cameras that are installed our plate readers only so will flag it if a car stolen and that's the only pointit turned out it wasn't just the one officer who didn't know about the fact that the pittsburg pd installed cameras that record video as well as liscence plate readers along highway just over a year ago..even this lieutenant had no idea until he reached out to pittsburg pd after seeing our story.the video footage that is it that is associated with

(grant) one person was killed and seven others hurt after a natural gas explosion shook a private school in minneapolis... police say contractors doing work there ruptured a gas line, causing the explosion. the blast caused part of a building to collapse. family members say ruth berg, a business office assistant at the school, was killed. one person is still missing - all students are accounted for. (vicki) the last of the 12 inmates who escaped from an alabama jail over the weekend has been captured. 24-year old brady kilpatrick was taken down by a law enforcement team last night. the martin county sheriff says three other people at the home were also arrested, including kilpatrick's sister, her fiance and a friend of the

fiance. they are facing aiding and abetting charges. on sunday, police say the inmates took advantage of a new guard by using peanut butter to conceal an exit door number. when the inmates called for the guard to open the door and let them in a cell... the guard inadvertently opened the exit door allowing the inmates to escape. the first eleven inmates were captured within 12-hours of the escape. 2018. in a statement... flatiron teases that comey will share "yet-unheard anecdotes" from his career in public service in the yet- untitled book. it says comey will "explore what good, ethical leadership looks like and how it drives sound decisions." the book will also have examples from "some of the highest-stakes situations in the past two decades of american government." appointed by president obama, comey served as f-b-i director from 2013 to 2017. president trump fired him in may. (vicki) nearly 275- thousand glittery i-phone cases are being recalled. chinese-based company mixbin electronics sold these cases globally - online and in stores. they contain an unidentified liquid. the manufacturer says if the cases crack or break - that liquid can spill. there are 24 reports of chemical burns or skin irritation from that liquid. customers are urged to stop using the cases immediately and request a refund from the company.

(grant) walnut creek police are trying to track down the owner of a dog left in a hot car. the young schipperke (skip-per-key) was found dehyrated sitting in the back of a car parked in the burger king parking lot on north main street. at around five o'clock last night... witnesses called 9-1-1... officers responded and were able to force the window down far enough to get the dog out. she was given water and taken to a vet. investigators say it was 96-degrees outside when the puppy was rescued. lt. sean conley/wcpd- "it's a small area, there's not a lot of ventilation. i mean, it could be close to, over 120 degrees in the car, uh, maybe more."(grant) police say this was one of a half dozen calls it received yesterday about pets left in hot cars. in this case, police say they know who the owner is, and that that person has been accused of leaving his dog in the car multiple times. police say he could face a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty. the scene... he just got an update from firefighters 30 minutes ago... where do things stand right now, j-r? oakland (kron) - a two-alarm wildfire is burning along grizzly peak in the oakland and berkeley hills wednesday afternoon.the fire was first reported around 1 p.m. and is burning along grizzly peak boulevard at fish ranch road. as of 5:15 p.m., the 10-acre fire is 10 percent contained, no structures were threatened, no evacuations have been ordered and no injuries reported.the fire is approximately a mile from the berkeley border and heading

we have learned the gunman suspected of shooting two yuba county sheriff's deputies is from gilroy. he has been identified as 33- year-old mark anthony sanchez. he was found dead inside a home following the shootout. sanchez served time for carjacking as well as burglargy and several other felonies. he did have two warrants out for his arrest. sanchez was working at a marijuana farm in yuba county when fellow workers called the sheriff's office yesterday. they reported he was ripping up plants, carrying a weapon and acting erratically. the deputies wounded in the shooting are recovering. (pam) one person is dead .... and seven others are in the hospital tonight.. after a natural gas explosion shook a school in minneapolis . police say, contractors doing work today at minnehaha academy... ruptured a gas line, causing the explosion.
