korea has produced a miniaturized nuclear weapon. reporter andy rose is tracking the latest developments from the nation's capitol. tensions between the u.s. and north korea are ratching up as the two countries traded threatsnorth korea's military announced it is "examninig the operational plan" to strike areas around the u.s. territory of guam where thousands of us service members and their families are stationed.the spokesman from the strategic force of the korean people's army, issued the very specific warning after president trump leveled a threat of his own on tuesday... president trump: "north korea best not make any more threats to the united states. they will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen." according to a report first published by the washington post, north korea has produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead-- althought one offical cautioned this isn't a consensus view. while sources familiar with the hermit

state's nuclear program don't believe the capability has been tested yet, they stress it's not a point of "if,"... but "when."north korea had earlier threatened "physical action" in response to punishing sanctions passed by the u.n. security council, over the weekend rep. lee zeldin/ -r- house foreign affairs cmt: "it was significant not just because of the size of the sanctions package, but also the unanimous vote that included russia and china. the north koreans have about $3 billion a year in exports, this is estimated to be over one third of that."both the u.s. ambassador to the u.n. and the white house national security advisor said military options are not off the table, if kim jong un fails to be deterred by these new sanctions.i'm andy rose, reporting. (james) breaking news we are following this morning out of paris... a group of soldiers attacked and the attacker is still on the loose. police say a car slammed into a group of soldiers guarding a paris suburb now the mayor of that town is saying it was deliberate. the driver of the car took off. police are actively searching for that driver. two of the soldiers are in serious condition this morning. so far police have not released a motive for the

(robin) san jose police are on the hunt for the man who shot and killed a father of four.. in front of his own wife. it happened during a liquor store robbery late monday night. now there's a growing memorial..where that man lost his life. kron 4's jr stone has the story. flowers and candles set up in memory of hieu lee..a liquor store owner known as charlie.who was shot and killed by a would be robber on monday night.sot when i would bring my car up here we would talk about cars. i just seen him last night on a walk waved to him through the window dozens showed up outside of charlie's liquor store on tuesday night to pay their respects. family members tell us when the robber demanded money. charlie stood up next to his wife and said no. that was when he was shot in the chest.sot he was small in stature but big in the heart and that night he was protecting his wife.rip charlie and we miss youlove you bossman are just a couple of the notes written to the former store owner. those in

the community say this isn't the first time the store has been hit. charlie had put up surveillance photos of past attempted robbery cases in his window. many are in shock.sot i thouhgt it was i was numb i didn't believe it. heartbroken he is gonna be greatly missed he really is. the fact that the gunman has not been found angers those here in san jose.sot still out there and left with nothing. senseless murder is what it is back out here live you can see the flowers and candles. the suspect is still out there tonight. a vigil will be held here on friday night at 7:30. live in san jose, j.r. stone kron 4 news.

(james) a concord man is being charged with starting last week's fire in the oakland hills. 24-year-old alfredo bautista is also facing charges for a 'road rage' incident that happened shortly before the fire. court documents say, bautista followed another car.. rammed into it several times... pointed a gun at the other driver, and then took off. on top that... police say, he also tried to steal a car. u-c berkeley police arrested and questioned him. they say, bautista admitted to starting the fire - as well as several others - using his cigarette lighter. (james) this morning firefighters have contained a house fire burning in the north bay. they tweeted out this picture of the scene in northern marin. this happened around 9:30 last night along the redwood highway. there are no reports of any injuries. (james) you might see more bart police officers during your ride to work this morning. the department has a new patrol in place ... as it deals with a spike in crime. kron four's spencer blake has details on the new plan, along with perspective from one of many bart assault victims. when you drive up to a bart station.walk down to the platform.and find a seat on the trainyou may just run into bart police officers, who are trying to be more highly visible as a deterrent to crime."we have what we call a critical asset patrol team and the team is made up of seven officers and one sergeant." deputy police chief ed alvarez says the department of homeland security is funding the new patrol to stave off what he acknowledges as a spike in crime.one of the recent assaults happened at the montgomery station, when mark sommer got attacked in july."i called out, 'help! stop! help!'"someone bashed him in the head just steps away from the staircase."the main place was right here - right above and between the eyes."the stranger was hitting

sommer with his own walking stick.(reporter)"sommer was so close to the exit and yet so far from getting help in the moment he was being beaten. he says amidst all the hubbub of the bart station, he didn't hear anyone calling for the attacker to stop."later he did get help from three women who came to his side.another man helped chase down the suspect, who was later arrested.but finding a voice to safely confront an attacker is something sommer says could help fight off crime on bart. lamonte mims did not enter a plea. prosecutors say they have surveillance video of mims and the other defendant-- fantasy decuir-- killing--- ed french. according to prosecutors-- the video shows decuir firing the gun... she is currently hospitalized and did not appear in court. prosecutors say mims is the one who took french's belongings after decuir shot him.

call in campbell. a crane came crashing down on a house. kron-4's charles clifford talked to a neighbor who was home at the time of impact. well, around noon on tuesday, crews working here along sondra way to replace a pg&e power pole were using some very large cranes when for reasons that are as of yet unknown one of the cranes collapsed hitting multiple buildings.soti just heard a large crash.betsy perry lives along sondra way. she was at home when the crane collapsed next door. sotit happened so fast that i ran outside and i didn't even think the crane fell down.fortunately, betsy's house was spared but several of her neighbors weren't as lucky. the crane landed hard on this house, leaving it straddling a yard and resting on a another neighbors garage. as of late tuesday afternoon, the crane was still on it's side with crews working on a way to get it upright. calosha was also called onto the scene to supervise the effort.betsy is just grateful no one injured.soti mean we were lucky. yes.finally, the crane did knock out electricity to several homes but pg&e was able to provide temporary power to those houses. in campbell charles clifford kron 4 news.

(robin) in hayward... one person was hurt after crashing a minivan into an auto body repair shop. it happened around 8:00 a-m yesterday near mission boulevard and grove way. the shop owner says, a parked car inside the building was damaged... along with some shelves and cabinets. (james) san francsico police say they will continue to have officers on foot patrol in delores park seven days a week. this comes after a daylight shooting that injured three people last week. the shooters are still at large. kron4's maureen kelly visited the park to see how people in the neighborhood are feeling. uniformed officers surveyed the scene at the top of the dolores park west pathway.as one heads down the stairs on patrolone regular park goer thanks him for being here.i'm really relieved that their

confirmed that it has fired the engineer behind an anti- diversity memo.. and now we know his name. 28 year old engineer james damore. his leaked 10-page memo said women are biologically less likely to get ahead in the tech world. now damore says he is considering all his legal options. he's already filed a complaint with the national labor relations board. however -- damore already has another job offer on the table. wikileaks founder julian assange took to twitter to express his disagreement with the firing... saying "censorship is for losers." assange included a link to a web posting he wrote a couple of years ago on the mountain view company's culture. confusion, a few years back the city installed separated bicycle lanes in golden gate park where drivers park about 8 feet from the curb nats: ambiance basically giving cyclist a safety buffer from inattentive drivers. now they have separated bike lanes on 8th street and 7th street in the south of market area nats: ambiance i call them floating parking spots, and usually, they come with either bike lanes marking or they are painted green with an additional safety zone for pedestrians many of the newer floating parking spots have a box for each individual car and hashmarks which mean no parking however; no parking is also painted in the street nats: ambiance it appears the driver assumed it was a floating parking space, an assumption that will end costing the driver over 700 dollars not including the meter cost now when i posted a photo on social media, all the self appointed traffic experts chimed in. first claiming it was a floating parking spot ..then claiming the city screwed up the marking on the

(james) a group of low income children in north carolina were not going to be able to afford school supplies or clothes this year. so 11-year old aniya williams and 12-year old isaiah lattimer set up a lemonade stand called "sweet and sour lemonade." (robin) they're doing so well -- they can pull in 100 dollars on good days. last week they took part in the united way's innovation challenge -- a contest for residents to create practical solutions in their low-income communities. they say they plan on selling hot chocolate once winter rolls around. (james) the a's teamed up with the lend-a-hand foundation to give back to their community. this was before yesterday's game against the mariners.(robin) members of the green and gold worked with with

( mark ) a concord man is charged with starting last week's fire in the oakland hills. 24-year-old alfredo bautista is also facing charges for a 'road rage' incident that happened shortly before the fire. investigators say bautista followed another car.. rammed into it several times... pointed a gun at the other driver and then took off. u-c berkeley police arrested him. prosecutors say bautista admitted to starting

( darya ) police have arrested a man for the stabbing of a 13-year-old boy in santa rosa. andrew campbell is accused of stabbing the teenager last week after an argument. this is a photo of the knife used. police say campbell is the boyfriend of one of the victim's family members. the boy was stabbed in the arm and also had a puncture wound to his lung. he is expected to recover. ( darya ) a business owner is behind bars this morning after vacaville police say he used his clothing store as a front for selling drugs to high schoolers. the store is located at a strip mall just steps from vacaville's will c. wood high school. police believe the store owner maurice jefferson was selling marijuana and cocaine out of his store. investigators say the store claimed to be selling 12-to 13-thousand dollars of merchendise a month. but when they looked inside the store, layers of clothes stacked in the store had dust on them. jefferson is now facing up to 60 years in prison if convicted. ( mark ) san jose international airport could soon have driverless shuttles to move passangers around.

airport officials held a demonstration of the driverless bus in an empty parking lot. the driverless bus picks up people at airport parking lots and then drops them off at the terminals. trans-dev north america currently operates two of these buses in the netherlands. san jose airport wants to be the first u-s airport to feature this new bus. ( mark ) the airport says at first it would transport people from the parking lots to the terminals. then eventually travel off airport property to nearby transportation hubs. where the shooting took place. investigators say mccarthy killed officer gary michael sunday night during a traffic stop. the officer had pulled him over for a registration violation. mccarthy has been charged with first degree murder. ( darya ) legendary country singer glen campbell has died following a 6-year battle with alzheimer's disease. campbell hit it big in 19-67 with his two two blockbuster albums "gentle on my mind" and "by the time i get to phoenix." in 19-69 he hosted the variety show - "the glen campbell goodtime hour." in 2005, he was inducted into the country music hall of fame. campbell was 81 years old. ( darya ) one of the two people accused of murdering and robbing a man at twin peaks last month made his first court appearance. lamonte mims did not enter a plea. prosecutors say they have surveillance video of mims and the other suspect-- fantasy decuir-- killing ed french. according to prosecutors, the video shows decuir firing the gun. she is currently in the hospital and did not appear in court. prosecutors say mims is the french's after decuir shot him.

want to know why mims was not behind bars at the time of the shooting. he had been charged with felony possession of a firearm two weeks prior to the shooting. he was also on probation and had a stay away order from twin peaks. both suspects are due back in court on friday. ( mark ) san francsico police say they will continue increased foot patrols near dolores park after a triple shooting. police say visitors will see police walking around the park seven days a week until further notice. police hope this will help reduce crime in the area. several people tell kron4 news that they now feel safer visiting the park. groups are planning a rally in support of kaep. director spike lee tweeting out this poster about the rally. the 29-year old quarterback has been a free agent since leaving the 49ers in march. he received national attention last year for choosing to kneel instead of stand during the national anthem. kaepernick said he was protesting police violence and social injustice against minorities in the u-s. civil rights groups believe that his protest is the reason he is still unsigned. the rally is set to take place august 23rd outside the n-f-l's headquarters in new york. ( mark ) more than 60 women are considering suing google because they say they are paid less than men. a lawyer for the women says they are paid on the average 40- thousand dollars less then men at google. google says the claims are false. this comes just days after google fired an engineer who wrote a sexist memo saying that women shouldn't take tech jobs due to "biological" reasons. that engineer says he is also considering legal action against the company over his firing.

( darya ) some people in one northern california city are upset over a video that shows an officer punching a suspect. this happened in yuba city. police were responding to a call of a disturbance at a restaurant. this video was posted online and drew instant criticism because people say the suspect was calmly allowing the officers to arrest him. the man's wife says he was reaching for his wallet when the officer hit him. but one witness says that before the video was shot... the man actually punched the cop first. police have not commented on the video but say they are conducting an internal investigation. ( mark ) in hayward, one person was hurt after crashing a minivan into an auto body repair shop. it happened yesterday morning near mission boulevard and grove way. the shop owner says a parked car inside the building was damaged... along with some shelves and cabinets. police say the car slammed into a group of six soldiers who were guarding a paris suburb. the mayor of that town says the crash was deliberate. this is video of the scene this morning. two of the soldiers are in serious condition. france's counter-terror unit is investigating the attack. (darya) a concord man is charged with starting last week's fire in the oakland hills. 24-year-old alfredo bautista is also facing charges for a 'road rage' incident that happened shortly before the fire. investigators say bautista followed another car.. rammed into it several times... pointed a gun at the other driver and then took off. u-c berkeley police arrested him. prosecutors say bautista admitted to starting the fire - as well as several others - using his cigarette lighter. the oakland hills fire burned 20 acres. is behind bars this morning after vacaville police say he used his clothing store as a front for selling drugs to high schoolers. the store is located at a strip mall just steps from vacaville's will c. wood high school. police believe the store owner maurice jefferson was selling marijuana and cocaine out of his store. investigators say the store claimed to be selling 12-to 13-thousand dollars of merchendise a month. but when they looked inside the store, layers of clothes stacked in the store had dust on them. jefferson is now facing up to 60 years in prison if convicted. (darya) take a look at this... a texas man uses his monster truck to help people stranded by flood waters. recently, heavy rains have caused flooding in the houston area. as much as fix to six inches of rain fell overnight tuesday in some parts of the city. the national weather service has issued a flash-flood watch for the region until this morning. (james)like yesterday, we're starting the day with fog, mist and cool temperatures in the 50s and low 60s. this afternoon will be a lot like yesterday, too. the inland valleys will see mostly sunny skies and highs warming in the upper 80s. along the bay shoreline, expect temps in the mid-70s, and at the coast you'll find mid-60s. not much change day-to-day this week as we hold a stable weather pattern through this coming weekend. it
