( james ) this morning police are looking for two men who attacked and robbed a man at an east bay bart station. it happened last night at the ashby bart station in berkeley. police say the attackers came up behind the victim in the parking lot... punched and kicked him. they stole his backpack, wallet and watch. the victim was taken to the hospital with a cut on his head and swelling to his face. police do not have a detailed description of the attackers but they say they are suspected of committing a similar robbery in the neighborhood around the same time last night. sting operation lands more than 100 people behind bars. investigators say hundreds of guns, pounds of drugs and several stolen vehicles were seized.(robin) as kron 4's hermela aregawi explains it's all part of "operation cold day" operation cold daya round-up of more than 100 bay area residentsmostly from san francisco and san mateo counties.who have been arrested on charges including auto theft, illegal firearm possession and sales. jill snyder/atf special agent in chargeone firearm in the hands of a gangmember or a prohibited person is one firearm too many. it only takes one round from one gun to end a life. george gascon/san francisco district attorneyour communities are a little safer because of all these guns that were removed from the streets, the vehicles that were recovered and returned to the owners and the narcotics that were confiscated. the operation was

launched in san francsico in the summer of 2015 -- after more than 100 zip cars in the city were stolen in less six weeks. george gascon/san francisco district attorneyand there is a deterrent effect. and there is a message out there that you may commit crimes in our communities but you will be held accountable. investigators say they recovered nearly 50 stolen vehicles, seized 100 ounces of narcotics,about 90 firearms.. jill snyder/atf special agent in chargewe targeted those who created a pipeline to stream firearms into the community and place them into the hands of violent criminals. some of these criminals committed a wide range of violent crime to include arrests for homicides, shooting and dealings of firearms and narcotics. but investigators tell us none of those arrested will be charged with violent crimes.but say the arrests will have a effect. take a look a closer look at how a garbage truck ended up wedged on the center divide. this was near alemany boulevard. it happened around 5:30 yesterday afternoon. right during the evening commute. at least one other car was involved. no reports of any serious injuries. (robin) google decided to cancel a planned "town hall meeting" with its employees. it was supposed to focus on the now viral anti-diversity memo that led to the firing of an engineer. the memo was posted on an internal company board but quickly spread across the internet with some calling it sexist. according to google-- bosses felt that now is not the right time for the conversation. some employees were named personally online and others are worried about asking candid questions-- given all the publicity. the now- fired engineer says he's already filed a labor complaint and is considering legal action against the company. community is in mourning this morning. this after a local musician was killed while trying to stop a robber in oakland( james ) dave deporis chased the theif and was dragged by the getaway car, killing him. kron 4's ella sogomonian spoke with friends of the musician who held a vigil in his honor. (nats: dave deporis singing and strumming guitar)sot: ian petrich, friend// "it was a one in a million voice."a musical talent who's life was cut short.at 40-years-old singer songwriter david deporis was killed as he struggled to take back what was his. police say david was sitting outside a cafe on telegraph avenue in oakland's temescal neighborhood wednesday around noon - when a theif grabbed his laptop and got into a car.witnesses said david was hanged onto the getaway car that dragged him along on rich street.david died from his injuries. friends laid out pictures and decorated the splendor bus david toured in as part of a music collective.sot: pancho morris, friend// " more than it being about more anger and hatred towards people and judging people before we get

the suspects is a 16-year-old boy... the other is 19-years old. both face attempted murder charges. the victim an 18-year-old was shot several times and at last check was in critical condtiion. it all happened on hoover street near highway 101. the shooting reportedly happened during a drug deal. officers say the victim and suspects knew each other and there was no threat to the public. ( james ) a former contra costa county sheriff's deputy is facing a new charge in the widespread police sex scandal that rocked several bay area law enforcement agencies. prosecutors filed a new felony charge against ricardo perez. this is the suspect in a previous court appearance he had previously been ordered to stand trial on several other charges. perez is accused of having sex with jasmin abuslin. the woman formerly known as celeste guap when she was a minor. he is just one of several former officers facing charges. missing on mount tamalpais has been found safe. 16-year-old sarah jane tang went out hiking wednesday afternoon. sarah who goes to lowell high school in san francsico had been on the mountain with a friend and got separated. search and rescue crews spread out and finally early yesterday morning she was discovered. here now is the moment she was reunited with her father. ".....the city of san jose is dismissing all 45 citations fir illegal fireworks that were issued based on complaints submitted through the city's pilot on-line fireworks reporting tool in may, june and july.amy guzules/got $500 citation "...somebody saw lights above my house and reported me, that's how i got my citation..."amy guzules and two of her neighbors here on garrison circle were cited but the reporting parties provided no video or photographic evidence. in dropping the $500 fines, the city agreed with guzules thatthe citations are unfair and that the criteria for issueing the citations was not evenly applied to all those who got them.amy guzules...somebody just had to say that the saw fireworks at our house and then we had to pay before we had the chance to argue that we were innocent..."david sykes/asst. s.j. city mgr ".....in this particular case it looks like we issued some citations to people who were

( james ) san francisco police have arrested a man they say uploaded and traded thousands of child porn files on the internet. this is the suspect anton orobchenko. last week police obtained a warrant to search his home turk street. that's where investgiators say they found thousands of illicit photos and videos on his media devices. the 32-year-old is facing charges of possesion

(robin) an east bay nurse who illegally immigrated to this country nearly three decades ago is facing deportation. the woman came to the u-s with her husband. and they here.( james ) now as kron4's philippe djegal reports their time in the u-s appears to be running out. mexico next week. they have raised four kids together, three of them born in america... their oldest daughter, vianney (vee-nn-ay) is expected to manage the household in oakland... though maria says her young son will live with her and her husband south of the border. vianney sanchez/oldest daughter- "this administration says that they want good people and that's who my family is. they don't want bad hombres and my parents have never, ever done anything. no criminal convictions. none of us either have ever been in trouble with the law, ever. not even in trouble at school." at 23-years-old vianney is a u-c santa cruz graduate. unlike her siblings, she wasn't born in states, but has remained here through the obama administration's immigration policy, "deffered action for childhood arrivals", or "daca"... a policy the trump administration has chosen not to expand, and is currently under review. deeply concerning for vianney, because her sisters are counting on her now.vianney sanchez/oldest daughter- "and, if daca ends, i don't know, i don't know whats going to happen to them. i don't know if we're all going to have to leave, and that's not really

(robin) the couple was set to meet with u-s senator dianne feinstein yesterday the senator released a statement saying in part... "these are the kind of people we should welcome into the united states with open arms." (robin) also in the east bay... five oakland officers of mexican heritage were recognized for their outstanding service to the community. the ceremony took place at the mexican consulate in san francisco. the five officers were chosen by their peers in the oakland police department. going forward the consulate general office plans on honoring mexican american police officers here in the bay area every year. ( james ) coming up: we are hearing from the first responders who rushed in when a gunman opened fire inside a san francisco ups facility. how they were honored.

(robin) school is about to start up which means kids walking to class. many will need to cross the street to get to and from the ( james ) kron 4's stanely roberts shows us how one one east bay city is providing a visual reminder to drivers to be careful. poor charlie, he's 73 years old and he's our designated victimcharlie has a job, he has to cross the streets in alameda in a marked crosswalk and pray no one hits him but charlie is not alone, you see the alameda police department traffic officers and watching charlie nats: ambiance it's a pass or fail test if you yield to charlie when he enters the crosswalk everyone is happy

with this driver i usually have my blue tooth on but i had walked into the burger king and so it switched it off on my phone and because i had to call to find out what drinks they wanted .most of the drivers who were stopped pretty much had there own reason for not yielding to charlie i was gonna stop and then i just i was like i don't wanna slam on my breaks i know it sounds awful however, all the drivers pretty much received the same response from officers bottom like is we have a lot of auto pedestrians collisions in this city that part of the crux of our fatal collision in the last five years and were just trying to increase awareness a word of advice, charlie might be trying to cross the street, you might want to yield to him and in case you're wondering if i talked to drivers i'm talking to you because i was behaving badly ugh dis i just steal your thunder that's in a future edition of people behaving badly in alameda stanley roberts kron 4 news ( james ) and here's a live look outside... embarcadero.

( james ) in hillsborough... police are warning people to be alert because mountain lions have been spotted in the area. take a look... big cats were spotted near crystal springs road and jacaranda circle. officials say people in the area should keep their pets indoors during dusk and evening hours. also keep their doors locked at night and keep a watch on small children and avoid jogging or hiking in wooded areas. (robin) we are now hearing from some of the emergency resonders who rushed to scene during a shooting rampage at a san francisco ups facility. it happened back in june. three men were killed by a fellow ups driver. kron4's maureen kelly shows us how 17 first responders were honored.

calm down get in there do your job help those people and that's what i did as best as i couldsan francisco sheriff's deputy sean lee remembers what was running in his head as he got on scene after hearing reports of guman inside the ups facility in potrero hill. there is an element of fear sometimes you just have to push past it and you know that you're going into save peoples lives there are a lot of people that did a lot of exceptional things that day as far as going above and beyond one sf police officer remembered how confusing those first moments were as they rushed into a situation where others were rushing out.we had several people today there's a guy in shop side he shooting and everybody's wearing brown ups uniforms and he said hey he's wearing exactly what we're wearing you can imagine it's going to hard to look at that situation and go who's the shooterfour workers were killed including the gunman who shot himself. today the mayor thanked those who were there for their quick response which more than likely saved lives.at the moment of tremendous need you were there and i want to say thank you on behalf of the city and county

of san francisco because i got to hug my ups driver this week the 17 heros, which also included paramedics, dispatchers, chp and officers from the ucsf police department were given commendations and heart shaped pins with the city seal. several of those i talked with said while they are honored, protecting the city and it's citizens is the job they are paid to do.maureen kelly kron4 news ( james ) a new development in the legal battle over access to a stretch of secluded bay area beach. a california court of appeals has ruled that public access must be restored to martin's beach which sits just south of half moon bay. the property is owned by a billionaire venture capitalist. he locked the only road

to the beach in 2009 and has been facing legal challenges ever since. kron 4's charles clifford is tracking developments. in a fifty page ruling, a state appeals court has unanimously ruled that venture capitalist vinod khosla violated the california coastal act when he locked this beach access road, a route that had been used by the public for decades. khosla purchased martins beach in 2008. a year later, he closed the only road the public could use to reach the beach, much to the dismay of local surfers and public access advocates. since then khosla has faced numerous legal challenges aimed at forcing him to reopen the route. in 2013, the surf rider foundation filed a lawsuit claiming that khosla had violated the 1972 coastal act and requested that public access be restored. in 2014, a superior court judge ruled in favor of the surf rider foundation but kholsa appealed. in this latest ruling, the california appeals court affirmed the superior court decision saying that ""this gate across martins beach road must be unlocked and open to the same extent that it was unlocked and open at the time defendants

(robin) the infamous white ford bronco that carried o-j simpson as he tried to run away from police back in 1994 is going up for sale.( james ) at the time, the car was owned by al "a.c." cowlings, simpson's friend and former teammate. cowlings was the driver during the chase. now simpson's former agent mike gilbert owns the bronco. gilbert says he bought it so it wouldn't be used in "distasteful" tours and he's kept it pretty much hidden ever since. at one point, gilbert says he's been offered a half a million dollars for it. he says he's looking to sell it to give money to his kids. ( mark ) this morning police are looking for two men who attacked and robbed a man at an east bay bart station. it happened last night at the ashby bart station in berkeley. police say the attackers came up behind the victim in the parking lot... punched and kicked him. they stole his backpack, wallet and watch. the victim was taken to the hospital with a cut on his head and swelling to his face. police do not have a detailed description of the attackers but they say they are suspected of committing a similar robbery in the neighborhood around the same time last night. ( darya ) the two people accused of killing a man at twin peaks in san francisco will be back in court today. fantasy decuir and lamonte mims are charged in the murder of ed french. prosecutors say they have surveillance video of the murder. today will be the first court appearance for decuir... who prosecutors say fired the shot that killed french. so far neither suspect has entered a plea. ( darya ) there is a warning for one east bay community after several home burglaries in blackhawk. police are releasing these surveillance pictures of the burglars. the most recent burglaries happened last week when three homes were targeted. there have now been eight home burglaries in blackhawk since may. in every case, the burglars went through the back of the house which is up against a golf course. ( mark ) happening tonight... a vigil will be held for the san jose liquor store owner who was shot and killed earlier this week. police say charlie ly was shot and killed during an attempted

robbery at jim's liquor store on quimby road monday night. police are still looking for the shooter. tonight's vigil will be held at 7:30 at the liquor store where ly was killed. ( mark ) more than 100 people are behind bars after a massive sting operation in the bay area. several pounds of drugs... plus hundreds of guns and several stolen cars were also seized. it was called "operation cold day." it was conducted by the a-t-f. most of the arrests happened in san francisco and san mateo counties. the operation actually began two years ago after more than 100 zip cars were stolen in san francisco in less than six weeks. investigators say most of the charges include auto theft and illegal firearm possession and sales. ( darya ) a local musician is murdered while trying to stop a robber in oakland. and this morning his killer is still on the loose. 40-year-old david deporis was killed in oakland on wednesday afternoon. police say he was sitting outside of a cafe on telegraph avenue when a thief grabbed his laptop and got into a car. david then tried to stop the thief by grabbing onto the getaway car, which dragged him down the street. he died from his injuries. david's friends and family gathered to remember the musician. ( mark ) a new development in the legal battle over access to a stretch of beach near half moon bay... a california appeals court has decided the billionaire owner of property on martin's beach must restore public access to the beach. the court ruled that venture capitalist vinod khosla had no right to block off the only road leading to the beach. khosla purchased property surrounding martins beach in 2008 and has been facing legal challenges ever since. the surf rider foundation sued khosla in 2013 to reopen the road. a judge ruled in favor of the foundation, but khosla appealed it. an appeals court has affirmed the lower court's ruling. khosla says he will keep appealing his case all the way up to the court. a marijuana grow is being blamed for sparking a devastating wildfire in santa clara county. the loma fire started last september... burning close to 45-hundred acres... destroying dozens of buildings including 12 homes. it took firefighters over two weeks to contain the fire. cal fire says the santa clara county sheriff's office is still investigating the legality of the marijuana growing operation. ( darya ) and a southern california man is recovering after driving his motorcycle off a cliff in the in the santa monica mountains, near calabasas. he has just released the video of the crash. matthew murray says after the crash he couldn't get anybody's attention and started climbing the cliffside to get back to the road. he suffered several broken bones but is expected to be okay. murray says he will never get back on a motorcycle again after the accident. ( mark ) a nurse in oakland who illegally immigrated to this country nearly three decades ago is facing deportation. maria mendoza-sanchez came here with her husband and daughter from mexico, and have since had three more children born in the u-s. maria paid her way through college and is now a registered nurse working with cancer patients at highland hospital. she says immigration and customs enforcement has ordered that her and her husband leave the country. her immigration attorney told them they are essentially out of legal options to prevent their pending deportation. ( mark ) the president's plan to curb legal immigration could hurt the u-s economy. that's according to two new studies that found that the proposal known as the "raise act" would erase more than four million jobs by the year 20-40. the white house called the studies inaccurate and says americans can fill the jobs currently held by foreign workers. the raise act was introduced last week. it would cut legal immigration in half... require english proficiency... and rank possible immigrants based on skill, expected salary, and age. onto an apartment complex. this was just one of the many trees that came down in tucson. you can see in this video taken during the storm just how strong the wind and rain was. nobody was injured in this storm. ( darya ) a lawsuit is filed against menlo collegeafter an oak tree branch feel on a group of people in atherton injuring a toddler. the incident happened during a company picnic at the college on saturday. a three- foot-wide tree branch crashed onto six people, including a mother and her 2-year-old daughter. the little girl was rushed to the hospital with a fractured skull. the toddler had surgery on her eye. the girl's mother and one other person were also hurt, but are expected to be ok. accused of killing a man at twin peaks in san francisco will be back in court today. fantasy decuir and lamonte mims are charged in the murder of ed french. prosecutors say they have surveillance video of the murder. today will be the first court appearance for decuir... who prosecutors say fired the shot that killed french. so far neither suspect has entered a plea. (darya) there is a warning for one east bay community after several home burglaries in blackhawk. police are releasing these surveillance pictures of the burglars. the most recent burglaries happened last week when three homes were targeted. there have now been eight home burglaries in blackhawk since may. in every case, the burglars went through the back of the house which is up against a golf course. (mark) a local musician is murdered while trying to stop a robber in oakland. and this morning his killer is still on the loose. 40-year-old david deporis was killed in oakland on wednesday afternoon. police say he was sitting outside of a cafe

on telegraph avenue when a thief grabbed his laptop and got into a car. david then tried to stop the thief by grabbing onto the getaway car, which dragged him down the street. he died from his injuries. david's friends and family gathered to remember the musician. (darya) school officials said about a half dozen coaches were supervising at the time of the accident. grief counselors were at the school throughout the day trying to help students and faculty members. (mark) two new cases of the west nile virus have been detected in contra costa county. officials say a dead bird from walnut creek tested positive for the virus. the second case is from the town of byron where some mosquitos tested positive. officials say crews will be doing extra mosquito control in the areas where the two cases were discovered. (mark) a warning for people in hillsborough after more mountain lions have been spotted in the area. they were seen near crystal springs road and jacaranda circle.

(darya) we now know the name of the man shot by hayward police after they say he drove at them with a stolen car. he is 26-year-old martin harlan. police say a man walked out of his house on saturday and found harlan stealing his truck. the victim called police and then got in another car to follow him. harlan began shooting at the victim. when police arrived, harlan started driving towards police... forcing officers to open fire. harlan was eventually taken into custody. no one was injured. (mark) a new development in the legal battle over access to a stretch of beach near half moon bay... a california appeals court has decided the billionaire owner of property on martin's beach must restore public access to the beach. the court ruled

that venture capitalist vinod khosla had no right to block off the only road leading to the beach. khosla purchased property surrounding martins beach in 2008 and has been facing legal challenges ever since. the surf rider foundation sued khosla in 2013 to reopen the road. a judge ruled in favor of the foundation, but khosla appealed it. an appeals court has affirmed the lower court's ruling. khosla says he will keep appealing his case all the way up to the supreme court. (darya) three people are dead and another is severely injured after a border patrol pursuit in san diego. a border patrol agent saw a car driving on interstate 15 that was connected to a murder and human smuggling. the agents tried to stop the s-u-v but it took off and they chased it at high speed. the s-u-v then went out of control and smashed through a guardrail and rolled down an embankment. no names have been released, and it's not clear whether the murder suspect was in the s-u-v at the time. the path of a bus in london has been arrested. this is a story we first told you about earlier this week on the kron four morning news. here is video from that incident from back in may. police arrested a 41-year-old man yesterday, but have not yet released his name. the jogger knocked a woman to the ground - and a bus swerves to avoid hitting her. police say passengers on the bus helped the woman who had minor injuries. suspects is a 16-year-old boy. the other is 19-years old. both are facing attempted murder charges. the victim is an 18-year-old who was shot several times and is in critical condtiion this morning. police say it happened during a drug deal. officers say the victim and suspects knew each other. (mark) oakland police have identified the man who was shot wednesday morning in oakland... his name was wali hardy. police say the shooting happened near west oakland middle school. the shooter is still on the loose. (mark) the first responders who rushed in when a gunman opened fire inside a san francisco u-p-s building were honored by the mayor for their heroism. four u-p-s workers will killed on june 14th, including the gunman who shot himself. 17 men and women were given commendations and heart shaped pins emblazoned with the city's seal. people from multiple agencies, including police, firefighters, dispatchers and members of c-h-p were all honored. a firefighter spoke to kron four, saying he was just doing his job.

(mark) a portable generator at a marijuana grow is being blamed for sparking a devastating wildfire in santa clara county. the loma fire started last september... burning close to 45-hundred acres... destroying dozens of buildings including 12 homes.

it took firefighters over two weeks to contain the fire. cal fire says the santa clara county sheriff's office is still investigating the legality of the marijuana growing operation. confirmed as the warmest year ever recorded. that's according to a new report by the national oceanic and atmospheric administration. the annual "state of the climate report" details how long-term global warming and a strong el nino helped make it the warmest year. more than 450 scientists from 60 countries helped with the report. it was put together just days after president trump pulled the u-s out of the paris climate agreement. oakland who illegally immigrated to this country nearly three decades ago is facing deportation.(darya) the woman came to the u-s with her husband where they raised four children. philippe djegal reports that their time in the u-s appears to be running out.
