(vicki) happening tonight... a nurse and mother of four who was allowed to stay in the bay area one more day...will now be deported. maria mendoza- sanchez, her husband and their son were scheduled to leave yesterday but were granted a stay of deportation. they filed another stay request but that was denied. sanchez and her husband have lived in the u-s for nearly 30 years. the couple will take their 12- year old son back to mexico. their flight is scheduled to leave from s-f-o tonight at 11. they do plan to make a statement before they leave. their three other children will stay here in the bay area. (grant) for the second time in two days....gunfire erupts on interstate 880 in the east bay... this latest shooting happened late last night just south of highway 92 in hayward. kron four's terisa estacio reports now on - if these two incidents are related.

the california highway patrol is calling this a brazen act of violence. it was late tuesday evening when the call came in of another shooting in hayward. this time, reports of men hanging out of a car window aiming at another vehicle - a chp spokesperson says the victim a young female teen was terrified - curling up into a ball as she tried to stay alive and not be struck by a bullet. 30 sgt. ted montez, chp "she was not hit, but what was the extent of her injuries. minor cuts due to glass shattering. she was very lucky. sgt. montez with chp says they have brought in a speciality unit to gather evidence. here is a map to show you a better look at where this unfolded. it is north bound 880 near the 92 exchange. it is several miles south of the shooting on early monday morning. the driver in that case was shot in the head and is in critical condition. right now, it appears the two are not related a clear motive has not been identified in the sootings. the teen girl is recovering from this trauma - chp is looking into whether there is surveillance video to get a better idea of the car and suspects. and there is this - this warning from the

chp. sgt. montez we will find them. in hayward, te (vicki) the security guard who shot a man at a store in san francisco has been arrested. the shooting happened just after 2:30 yesterday afternoon at the

burlington coat factory. police say the guard confronted a suspected shoplifter and the two got into an argument that moved outside the store. police say that's when the guard shot the man. the victim is expected to recover. the guard was later arrested on multiple charges including suspicion of assault with a firearm. police have not yet released the guard's identity. (vicki) californian's are joining in the efforts to remove confederate statues and monuments. the hollywood forever cemetery in los angeles removed its confederate memorial today. cemetary officials say there have been up to 60 calls and emails every day asking them to get rid of the monument. the decision was ultimately made by the owner of the monument who said that removing it from the cemetery is the best option. it was erected in 19-25 and stood in the cemetery's confederate section. cemetery officials say it will be put into storage, but the grave markers will remain. (vicki) last night... four confederate statues were taken down in baltimore. the baltimore city council unanimously voted in favor of removing four monuments on monday. according to the southern poverty law center-- there are over 700 confederate statues and monuments. about 300 of those are in georgia, north carolina and virginia. it was an emotional scene as relatives and neighbors came by to see the aftermath of a tragedy that has rocked the close knit golden wheel community. anonymous family member (through translator) through a translator, her aunt identified one of the victims as 10 year old linda van, who perished along with a neighbor girl and an unidentified adult relative.arlene garcia/neighbor "....she was just a great kid, they were best friends, i always thought they were cousins...."joined by the bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives, a team of investigators are going through the char and rubble searching for clues as to what may have caused the fire. joshua padron/san jose fire dept.".....the construction of mobile homes uses plastics and other very light metals and once a fire gets started it tends to burn very fast...."a dog was brought in to sniff out accelerants. that's said to be routine but several neighbors, including one interviewed by city councilman tam nguyen, said they heard a

(vicki) a north carolina man is garnering national attention for his social media actions after the violent protests in charlottesville, virginia.(grant) social media can be a powerful tool when news happensraleigh resident logan smith found out just how powerful this weekend. logan smith:"they are saying they are going to kill me, they're saying... insulting my wife, insulting my family." they are the people he called out on twitter. people participating in the rally in charlottesville, virginia. smith, who is the communication s director for progress n-c, is also the face behind the twitter account called yes, you're racist.something he started during the presidential campaign in 2012.

when he saw the images coming out of virginia, he wanted to do something about it.logan smith:"the first thing i did was to ask people if they recognized any of these people, just send me their names and public profiles and i'll make 'em famous."his inbox filled up with names and hometowns of the men in the pictures. smith says he did careful research before matching names with pictures. once he did, the photos went viral, getting passed all over the internet.logan smith: "these are real people. a lot of times, they're in our communities. and i think it's really important to put a spotlight on these people."and now smith has his own spotlight, one that is getting him death threats.he says that doesn't bother him, and he will continue to speak for what he believes his right. mandy mitchell, w-r-a-l news raleigh. nationalist event in virginia. we told you earlier this week - cole white - resigned from his job at "top dog" in berkeley after he was exposed by smith's twitter account "'yes you're racist". the company posted signs in its windows saying that it does not support the actions of those in charlottesville. (vicki) facebook is banning the accounts of white nationalists on its site and instagram. the profile pages of christopher cantwell and a page connected to his podcast have been removed. cantwell was listed on online fliers promoting the rally in charlottesville. facebook also removed at least eight other pages connected to the white nationalist movement. a facebook spokeswoman says the pages were in violation of the company's policy on hate speech and organizations. (grant) construction workers are putting the finishing touches on the salesforce tower in san francisco. it's by far the tallest building in the city. the new skyscraper will stand nearly 11 hundred feet into the sky. and although the tower will bring major changes to san francisco's iconic skyline, the building

has garnered a lot of criticism. some people feel the building is the latest example of a tech economy steamrolling through the city. developers say concentrating growth in an urban hub will have positive environmental impacts. construction on the $1.1 billion skyscraper is expected to wrap up in october. (grant) an arrest warrant has been issued for a carjacking and kidnapping suspect in the east bay. police just released the identification of the suspect...who they consider armed and dangerous. (vicki) kron4's haaziq madyun has been on the story all day and is the first to break the news about investigators identifying the carjacking suspect. a frightening situation... a desperate car theft suspect speeding away from police carjacks and kidnaps a woman sitting in traffic here on contra costa blvd in pleasant hill. on wednesday an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect 23-year-old vincent wilson of pleasant hill

dangerous if you know where he is right now please call the pleasant hill police department or your local agency. he is also considered armed and dangerous as well"> this all started monday around 7:19am in the city of martinez. martinez police investigators say they spotted a speeding vehicle here at morelo ave at center ave. officers later discovered the vehicle was stolen. martinez police started to pursue the driver in the speeding vehicle but called off the chase out of concern for public safety. investigators say the vehicle continued on at a high rate of speed then crashed into a vehicle in the intersection of viking drive at conttra costa blvd injuring the female driver and her two year old child, right outside the sun valley mall in pleasant hill. it was here that the alleged kidnapping and car jacking occurred investigators say the wilson forced the female kidnapping victim to drive to back into martinez where he left her in her vehilce unharmed while he ran away. investigators say a 2nd suspect in the speeding vehicle was arrested back at the crash scene. wilson remains wanted by police...in pleasant hill haaziq madyun kron4ews

(vicki) a tree trimmer remains in critical condition after nearly falling into a wood chipper in napa. jeremy booth was injured yesterday. witnesses tell kron four he was a part of a three man crew taking a tree down. they were using ropes to take the high branches down. booth was in charge of putting those branches into the woodchipper. at one point, he got tangled in a rope that went into the machine. the crew got the woodchipper to turn off but the rope had been around his neck and he lost oxygen. booth is in his early twenties and has young children. deputy ray kelly/alameda county sheriff spokesperson: "i hit the retweet button and it then retweeted that to our 10-thousand plus followers and i immediately began to get

traveled with southwest airlines in the past few days-- you may have noticed the airline having problems with early boarding. according to the airline-- the computer glitch that caused the problem has been partially fixed. southwest will be compensating the a-list and a- list preferred customers who have not gotten priority boarding in the past few days with extra frequent-flyer points. the airlines say a-list members take at least 50 one-way flights or earn a certain number of points in a year. (grant) a command post has now been set up at yosemite national park -- because of the south fork fire. crews are worried about that town - which is close to the south fork of the merced river.. they're also concerned about the spot that's home to a famous grove of sequioas.. the fire has burned more than 22- hundred acres and is only about 5 percent contained. it's now forced the closure of at least one of the park roads, a golf course and a couple of campgrounds. it hasn't helped that many trees are already weakened by the drought and a beetle infestation. park rangers are warning some tourists that they might also have to move... tourist from england - we awake to the smell of ash. which isn't so good. we were able to take a nice swim in a bit of the river near here. which you can't get to now - because of the fire. park ranger - there's a lot of vegetation out there. a lot of ponderosa pines and cedars are affected. there's a lot of fuel, meaning this fire has a lot of opportunities to grow. the fire began early

(grant) now natalee's father and a private investigator have come forward to reveal that human remains have recently been discovered in aruba from our partners at inside edition - les trent has the latest on what the family is hoping - is a major break in the case. has the 12-year-old mystery of natalee holloway's disappearance finally been solved?some human remains that could be that of the missing alabama teen have reportedly been found in aruba, where she vanished without a trace during a school trip back in 2005.her body has never been found.holloway's father, dave holloway, says a new informant may have revealed the spot where longtime suspect joran van der sloot and an accomplice disposed of the body of the 18-year-old.the tip led to a startling discovery."we actually found human remains," dave holloway said.now, her father is determined that the new information could present a sense of closure in the case. ( grant ) tonight... we now know the name of one of the children killed in a fire at a san jose home. this... as federal investigators arrive at the scene.(2-shot) good evening i'm grant lodes... steve is off tonight.( pam ) and i'm pam moore. three people died in that fire ... two of them children.(map/vo) it happened on tuesday afternoon... at the golden wheel mobile home park off gish road in san jose. kron four's rob fladeboe reports now ... on the identity of one of the young victims ... and on the investigation into what may have caused the fire. it was a grim scene as relatives could be seen comforting one another, sharing photos and memories of those who died. they identified one of the two children who perished in the fireas 10-year-old linda van.

there was a memorial service in charlottesville, virginia today - to honor heather heyer... she's the woman killed saturday when a car slammed into a group of counter-demonstrators at an alt-right rally. catherine heenan is here with details - including the comments from her parents... for the second time in two days.... gunfire broke out last nighton interstate -880 in the east bay... catherine heenan is here with the latest in the investigation... and why the c- h-p is asking for help from the public.. (catherine) authorities are frustrated and people are on edge...in the most recent case, the c-h-p got a report of shots fired on northbound 880 in hayward... that was last night about 1o o'clock.at first officers couldn't find any evidence of what happened....but then two teenagerswalked into the hayward police department to say 'their' car had been shot at... they reported young people hanging from a passing car - and aiming at their vehicle.the shooting happened a day after a man was shot in the head on southbound 880 near washington avenue....in what was believed to be a road rage incident. it's not clear if the shootings are related. the victim in that case remains in critical condition.

mariposa county near yosemite. the south fork fire has burned just under 23- hundred acres. right now it is five- percent contained. firefighters have told people in the area to be ready to evacuate. a command post has been set up at the wawona campgrounds. firefighters say, their main focus is protecting the community nearby and the giant sequoias in the area. there is no word yet on what caused the fire. west nile virus was detected in solano county.
