garcetti says a wildfire burning just north of downtown....is the largest in the city's history. the la tuna canyon wildfire began friday afternoon. it has forced people in more than 700 homes to evacuate. the flames have burned five thousand acres. the fire also forced closures of highway 210. it is being fueled by the extreme heat in california and shifting winds. those who chose to remain in the area say they're worried about the fire getting closer. (sot)

(marty) so far two homes and another structure have burned. no injuries have been reported. volunteers have opened at least two evacuations centers in the area. (marty) closer to the bay area. one of the largest wildfires burning right now is the ponderosa fire in butte county, just east of oroville. evacuation orders are in place for some of the surrounding areas. the fire has burned over 38- hundred acres. it is 51- percent contained. the fire has destroyed 32 homes and another five-hundred homes are threatened. officials say the fire's location in steep and rugged terrain, along with the hot and dry temperatures are complicating crews' efforts to put out the fire. declared a state of emergency for the helena fire in trinity county. the fire has burned six-thousand acres and is zero percent contained. it started wednesday near the town of helena, west of weaverville along highway 299. people living in the area are being evacuated. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. (marty) a second utah police oficer is now on paid administrative leave after this controversial arrest of a hospital nurse. police are apologizing for the incident that happened in july. the nurse, alex wubbels, was detained for trying to prevent officers from taking blood samples from an unconscious patient. dan simons reports that the nurse was following hospital policy. natsot: screaming, being led awaythe disturbing video comes from the inside of an emergency room.and the woman screaming?a burn unit nurse, who is being arrested by a salt lake city police officer. natsot: "please sir you're hurting me. lady walk!"the incident - captured by police and hospital cameras - happened in july. but now, the

owners are responsible -- some aren't. guess which one's stanley roberts found in this edition of people behaving badly. on mission road in colma sits a lady sitting on the curb on her smart phone, with her dog close by then the dog wanders off and sniffs a tree, normal dog behavior nats ambiance then moments later a dog does what dogs do best ..while the owners watches but make no effort to clean it up she just sits there .. then she gets up loads the dog in the car . walks around to the drivers side and off she goes oh, i almost forget to mention the grassy area where all this happened is holy cross catholic cemetery nats: ambiance inside the cemetery this older couple is placing flowers on some headstones notice the dog off leash running around . the dog sniffs around. then wanders off to find a spot where it does what dogs do best nats: ambiance then the dog runs back to the couple who never noticed

prepared for the final steps in removing the remnants of the old eastern span of the bay bridge. the next set of underwater explosions to remove the underwater piers began with clearing the bridge of pedestrians and bicyclists. representatives from the marine mammal center were in place to monitor any harm that might come to any mammals in the bay. so far all the safety mechanisms that they have set up worked because we have not had any injuries or stunnings that we have had to pull out of the water in any previous implosions. the california highway patrol briefly halted traffic on the new eastern span in an abundance of caution. we do this as a caution just to make sure that nobody hears the site implosion and causes a collision of some kind. with everything in place a veil of undersea air bubbles enveloped the two piers just seconds beforethe bay erupted in what appears to have been a successful operation. we'll continue to monitor the area over the next couple of hours later in the day we'll go in and do a sonar read of the actual demolition work but from the surface everything looked and appeared to go successfully today. the

remaining underwater piers will go through this same process on weekends through the end of the year. we plan to be done by the end of the calendar year and some weekends we will be imploding one two or three of the piers going forward and i think so far the contractor has represented that he will be able to pull that off successfully. at the eastern span of the bay bridge jeff pierce kron four news. garcetti says a wildfire burning just north of downtown....is the largest in the city's history. the la tuna canyon wildfire began friday afternoon. it has forced people in more than 700 homes to evacuate. the flames have burned five thousand acres. the fire also forced closures of highway 210. it is being fueled by the extreme heat in california and shifting winds. those who chose to remain in the area say they're worried about the fire getting closer. (marty) governor brown has declared a state of emergency for the helena fire in trinity county. the fire has

burned six-thousand acres and is zero percent contained. it started wednesday near the town of helena, west of weaverville along highway 299. people living in the area are being evacuated. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. (marty) a second utah police oficer is now on paid administrative leave after this controversial arrest of a hospital nurse. police are apologizing for the incident that happened in july. the nurse, alex wubbels, was detained for trying to prevent officers from taking blood samples from an unconscious patient. dan simons reports that the nurse was following hospital policy. natsot: screaming, being led awaythe disturbing video comes from the inside of an emergency room.and the woman screaming?a burn unit nurse, who is being arrested by a salt lake city police officer. natsot: "please sir you're hurting me. lady walk!"the incident - captured by police and hospital cameras - happened in july. but now, the district attorney says he

(marty) that was just one in a series of implosions to demolish the old span of the bay bridge. the thirteen concrete islands will be destroyed on weekends through november. kron4's jeff pierce was there for the first implosion. saturday morning caltrans

prepared for the final steps in removing the remnants of the old eastern span of the bay bridge. the next set of underwater explosions to remove the underwater piers began with clearing the bridge of pedestrians and bicyclists. representatives from the marine mammal center were in place to monitor any harm that might come to any mammals in the bay. so far all the safety mechanisms that they have set up worked because we have not had any injuries or stunnings that we have had to pull out of the water in any previous implosions. the california highway patrol briefly halted traffic on the new eastern span in an abundance of caution. we do this as a caution just to make sure that nobody hears the site implosion and causes a collision of some kind. with everything in place a veil of undersea air bubbles enveloped the two piers just seconds beforethe bay erupted in what appears to have been a successful operation. we'll continue to monitor the area over the next couple of hours later in the day we'll go in and do a sonar read of the actual demolition work but from the surface everything

looked and appeared to go successfully today. the remaining underwater piers will go through this same process on weekends through the end of the year. we plan to be done by the end of the calendar year and some weekends we will be imploding one two or three of the piers going forward and i think so far the contractor has represented that he will be able to pull that off successfully. at the eastern span of the bay bridge jeff pierce kron four news. garcetti says a wildfire burning just north of downtown....is the largest in the city's history. the la tuna canyon wildfire began friday afternoon. it has forced people in more than 700 homes to evacuate. the flames have burned five thousand acres. the fire also forced closures of highway 210. it is being fueled by the extreme heat in california and shifting winds. those who chose to remain in the area say they're worried about the fire getting closer. (sot) (marty) so far two homes and another structure have burned. no injuries have been reported. volunteers have opened at least two

evacuations centers in the area. (marty) closer to the bay area. one of the largest wildfires burning right now is the ponderosa fire in butte county, just east of oroville. evacuation orders are in place for some of the surrounding areas. the fire has burned over 38- hundred acres. it is 51- percent contained. the fire has destroyed 32 homes and another five-hundred homes are threatened. officials say the fire's location in steep and rugged terrain, along with the hot and dry temperatures are complicating crews' efforts to put out the fire. (marty) governor brown has declared a state of emergency for the helena fire in trinity county. the fire has burned six-thousand acres and is zero percent contained. it started wednesday near the town of helena, west of weaverville along highway 299. people living in the area are being evacuated. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. police oficer is now on paid administrative leave after this controversial arrest of a hospital nurse. police are apologizing for the incident that happened in july. the nurse, alex wubbels, was detained for trying to prevent officers from taking blood samples from an unconscious patient. dan simons reports that the nurse was following hospital policy. natsot: screaming, being led awaythe disturbing video comes from the inside of an emergency room.and the woman screaming?a burn unit nurse, who is being arrested by a salt lake city police officer. natsot: "please sir you're hurting me. lady walk!"the incident - captured by police and hospital cameras - happened in july. but now, the district attorney says he wants a criminal investigation. university of utah nurse alex wubbels says she was just doing her job, following hospital protocol, by refusing to let police take a blood sample from an unconscious patient.natsot: "is this patient under arrest? no!" wubbels says detective jeff payne demanded a blood sample from a car crash victim who was in a coma and severely burned. his truck - smashed by a car racing from police, according to local media

wubbels calmly explains the policy for obtaining blood natsot / hospital video:"the 3 things-if you have electronic warrant, patient consent or the patient is under arrest. and if you have neither of those things, the patient can't consent."she even gets her supervisor on the phone who backs her up. the tension only escalates.natsot / hospital video:"she is the one that has told me no. yeah, but sir you're making a huge mistake. making a huge mistake by threatening a nurse. no, we're done.""she is under arrest--- doesn't' have to be like that!"salt lake's city police chief apologized and said what happened was unacceptable.chief mike brown, salt lake city police:"i was alarmed by what i saw in the video. i want to be very clear. we take this very seriously."for now, wubbels isn't filing a lawsuit.alex wubbels, nurse:"i feel strongly giving people benefit of the doubt and i truly believe he was honest in his apology and sincere in trying to make change and make things better."police released wubbels without charges that day, after she sat in the police car for 20 minutes detective payne said in a written report that his watch commander advised him to arrest the nurse for interfering with a police investigation.payne and another officer now on administrative leave, as internal investigators look into the incident.

(marty) that was just one in a series of implosions to demolish the old span of the bay bridge. the thirteen concrete islands will be destroyed on weekends through november. kron4's jeff pierce was there for the first implosion. saturday morning caltrans prepared for the final steps in removing the remnants of the old eastern span of the bay bridge. the next set of underwater explosions to remove the underwater piers began with clearing the bridge of pedestrians and bicyclists. representatives from the marine mammal center were in place to monitor any harm that might come to any mammals in the bay. so far all the safety mechanisms that they have set up worked because we have not had any injuries or stunnings that we have had to pull out of the water in any previous implosions. the california highway patrol briefly halted traffic on the new eastern

massachusetts says someone paid their overdue fines with chuck-e-cheese tokens. the bookkeeper at the library says at first she counted three tokens before realizing they weren't actual money. the library posted a message on facebook asking people to stop trying to pay fines with game tokens. they also let people know that they can't accept canadian coins either.
