rescue animals left behind over the last couple of days. ( marty ) the county's animal control director and state attorney say they'll prosecute those who have left animals tied up outside. ( marty ) however -- more than 160 shelter dogs and cats - have been rescued and are safe hundreds of miles away from the path of irma. the pets were flown to columbus, ohio friday night courtesy of the u.s. humane society. once they've been checked out by vets, the dogs and cats will be available for adoption in ohio, indiana and kentucky. their own. katia, churning in the gulf of mexico, made landfall friday as a category 1 hurricane. it's since been downgraded to a tropical storm. but the wind and rain have made rescue efforts following thursday's 8-point-1 earthquake more difficult. at least 65 people have died as a result of the quake. person has died this morning after a crash on interstate 580 in oakland. it happened just after five when a silver ford taurus crashed into a pillar near the high street on-ramp. two westbound lanes were closed for about an hour. all lanes of the highway are now open. no word yet on what caused the crash. we will bring you updates on this story as we get them into our newsroom. ( marty ) police are investigating another drive by shooting in the east bay. a man is recovering after he was shot as he drove on highway four in antioch. it happened around 9-30 friday night near somersville road. the man was shot in the arm and was able to drive himself in to the hospital the woman with him in the car at the time was not hurt. ( marty ) cal-trans estimates it's going to cost 40-million dollars to rebuild a storm damaged section of highway-one. the one-mile strech of highway was engulfed by a massive landslide last winter. caltrans says it is going to build a new roadway... but it will take about a year to do the work.

crews have been busy removing debris from the highway. they hope to have the construction wrapped up by the end of next summer. the slide is one of the largest in the state's history. ( marty ) breaking news we are following... at least one person has died this morning after a crash on interstate 580 in oakland. it happened just after five when a silver ford taurus crashed into a pillar near the high street on-ramp. two westbound lanes were closed for about an hour. all lanes of the highway are now open. no word yet on what caused the crash. we will bring you updates on this story as we get them into our newsroom. ( marty ) police are investigating another drive by shooting in the east bay. a man is recovering after he was shot as he drove on highway four in antioch. it happened around 9-30 friday night near somersville road. the man was shot in the arm and was able to drive himself in to the hospital the woman with him in the car at the time was not hurt.

( marty ) cal-trans estimates it's going to cost 40-million dollars to rebuild a storm damaged section of highway-one. the one-mile strech of highway was engulfed by a massive landslide last winter. caltrans says it is going to build a new roadway... but it will take about a year to do the work. crews have been busy removing debris from the highway. they hope to have the construction wrapped up by the end of next summer. the slide is one of the largest in the state's history. harvey. 58-year-old john wilson died friday while flying from santa barbara county to santa rosa. his wife says he would split his time between austria, santa barbara and houston. wilson left houston to stay at the couple's property in santa barbara after the hurricane flooded their basement. he received his pilot license just a few weeks ago. investigators are trying to figure out what caused the crash. it's not easy getting evacuated because of a hurricane. especially if you are two years old. this is a father and his daughter a shelter in florida. they were evacuated because of hurricane irma. two year old mya fell asleep on top of her dad because she has not wanted to leave his side since she's been at the shelter. the family arrived there on thursday.
