recent testing shows the water quality is improving. they're doing their best to flush the bad water out. but liam garland, acting director of public works says, outside of flushing a toilet... the water is still not safe enough to use.liam garland/public works- "(philippe) what is is that got contaminated? (liam) our best bet at this point is that an irrigation line that is fed by a well out here in alameda point, uh, that that irrigation line had a cross connection with the water pipes here. um, and that there was a failure of what's called a backflow preventer and that that led to that irrigation water getting into our drinking water system." initially, the advisory issued by the city tuesday was for 48 hours... but the city says it's possible residents, like laniohan and his family will avoid using through the end of the week. in alameda, philippe djegal, kron four news. redwood city mcdonald's on chesnut street. a co-worker claims to have seen blood on the bathroom floor and peered over the stall. investigators say that co- worker told them...she saw lockner holding the baby face down in the toilet... while flushing it. officers were called - and arrested lockner...who allegedly says she did not know she was pregnant. she's being held on 11-million dollars bail...and will be in court next week. the infant was unresponsive, rushed to the hospital...but amazingly, now 10 days later... the newborn is said to be in stable condition. (vicki) another big story we are tracking... a teenager opens fire on fellow classmates at a high school in a small town just outside of spokane, washington. the shooting happened this morning... at freeman high school in the tiny town of rockford. police say one student died and three others were injured during the shooting... their

conditions are unknown at this time. a witness says he saw the shooter bring a duffel bag to school. he also says the student had been obsessed with past school shootings. the suspect is now in police custody ... and has not yet been identified by officers. (grant) happening now - police in san francisco are investigating a shooting that left one person dead - and two others injured. the violence was last night around 10:30... in san francisco's visitacion valley neighborhood - near sunnydale avenue and hahn street. 20-year reginald gage junior was killed. no arrests have been made - and police have not released a suspect description. this marks the city's 49th homicide in 2017. san francisco police say they seeing an uptick in murders this year. they plan to double foot patrols in the city - to further combat the problem. (vicki) in antioch. a road rage incident triggers an off duty deputy from another county to open fire on a suspect. it happened around 10 last night near lone tree way and delta fair boulevard. police say a woman and a man in a car were being chased by the suspect in another car. the suspect collided into their car repeatedly. when both cars stopped the man in the other vehicle who happened to be an off-duty deputy from another county.. fired a pistol at the suspect striking him once. the suspect was treated for his injury and booked into jail. it is not clear where the deputy works but police say it's out of contra costa county. (grant) a motion filed by ghost ship warehouse master tenant, derick almena.... to have the charges against him for the fire deadly fire, dropped - has been denied. the 47-year-old is charged with 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter... his

attorney today, argued that the charges against almena and co-defendant max harris... are "fattally ambiguous" . almena and harris - are each charged for their roles in the deadly fire... that broke out during a crowded dance party at the warehouse last december. 36 people died. almena and harris were scheduled to enter pleas today but they postponed doing so until september 27. both remain in police custody - and face 39 years in state prison if convicted. (vicki) an elderly woman is beaten by a complete stranger.... as she's walking down the street. good samaritans came to her rescue and are playing a key role in helping try and find the suspect. kron four's terisa estaico joins us live now from san mateo where this assault took place... with more on who police are looking for. terisa? tes: i am here in san mateo on the 2600 block of south el camino real here's what happened the victim in this case was just walking down the street - heading south, when another woman approached

her and for some unknown reason, this strange person started attacking the victim. with her fist first. (estacio reporting) police say the unknown woman shown here punched the elderly victim several times in the face knocking the victim down to the ground. and the attack didn't stop there, the suspect then starting kicking the victim. sgt. tracey unga, san mateo police dept. "witnesses reported they saw the suspect punch, hit then kick elderly person in the head at least 10- 12 times. sgt tracey unga with the san mateo police department says nearly a half dozen good samaritians stepped in to try and help the elderly woman and end the unprovoked attack. in fact, that is how the department received this picture of the suspect 3 witnesses ran after the suspect. unga. we are really impressed with the community. 3 went after and tried to chase the suspect down and try and detain her, she got away but one witness took this picture we are circulating. the suspect is described as hispanic female, wearing all black clothes, 35-45 years old, black hari, brown eyes. she was last seen pushing a

have finally zeroed in on a new site to build a ballpark. they're eyeing a spot near laney college...where the peralta community college's district administration building sits. the a's president sent a letter to peralta yesterday...outlining the team's vision. but as kron 4's haaziq madyun reports... the a's now have to wait to see if the college district is willing to sell the land....and play ball. the oakland a's want to uproot the team from here at the coliseum complex and plant new roots here at the current site of the peralta community college district on east 8th street at 5th avenue oakland athletics team president david kaval talks about why the team chose the peralta site over howard terminal or rebuilding at the coliseum

more than 2-thousand lightning strikes in northern california... in the past 24- hours... are suspected of starting more than 70 fires. cal fire tweeted out this photo today - showing the more than 25-hundred lightning strikes. the largest fire has burned about 20 acres. .. and is 10-percent contained. all of the other fires are less than 20 acres. the fundraisor... and says he plans to give beto the money within a couple weeks. (grant) police are on the hunt tonight for a suspect in connection with a bank robbery in santa rosa. it happened around 11 this morning at the chase bank on yul-upa avenue. police say the suspect walked into the bank waiving a hand gun.. and demanded money before leaving in an unknown direction. the suspect is described as a thin, white man who wore a black bandada over his face a flat-bill baseball hat sporting a black hooded sweatshirt. no one inside the bank was injured. has been charged with attempted murder. officers say the victim, 54- year-old gerald melton.... was trying to sleep n the middle of the night, but was disturbed by the exhaust fumes and loud music coming from quackenbush's porsche. melton then asked her to move the vehicle - and that's when police say quackenbush shot melton twice. her father says she fired the weapon - in self-defense. melton remains in the hospital in critical condition.critical condition. (vicki) a scare for the royal family... a 40-year- old woman has been arrested on suspicion of trying to break into the school where prince george is a student. the incident took place tuesday at thomas's battersea school. this is the 4- year-old prince's first day of school last thursday as he arrived holding the hand of his father, prince william. police were called to the school yesterday morning.. when someone was able to get onto the campus. prince george was in class when the break-in happened. the woman was taken to a police station in south london and

the most notable... kate steinle. she was shot to death at pier 14 in july of 2015. the gun was taken from a land management ranger just days before the shooting. the suspect is an undocumented immigrant who has been deportednumerous times. ( steve ) in oakland... muralist antonio ramos was shot to death in september of 2015. the gun... stolen from an immigration and customs enforcement agent in san francisco. a suspect is under arrest and charged with the murder. ramos's family has sued ice over his death. the years of searching are over. the a's make their pitch to build a new ballpark right near downtown oakland.
