morning... police have arrested one person after police say the fired multiple gunshots in cambpell. it happened just before midnight on the 700 block of cypress lane. that's when police received a call of a prowler. responding officers found somoene in the side of a yard. that person ran from officers jumping a fence into the back yard of a home. that's when officers heard 8 to 12 gunshots. no offficers were shot. c-h-p closed southbound highway 17 from hamilton to san tomas looking for the man. he was found laying face down near los gatos creek. we'll bring you more information as it enters our newsroom. ( james ) a big story we are following this morning... u-c berkeley is preparing for protests today as another right-wing speaker is scheduled to speak on campus. (tiffany) conservative political commentator ben shapiro is speaking at

zellerbach hall. now berkeley police are increasing patrols to keep protests from getting out of hand. counter-protesters are expected at and around sproul plaza. here is a map showing areas that will be surrounded by police. they include the chavez student center, the martin luther king student union, and the alumni house.( james ) kron4's hermela aregawi has more on what to expect. berkeley has ramped up security in preparation for tomorrow's event.ben shapiro is scheduled to speak on campus but the college's republicans say they're not sure it'll happen.naweed tahmas/berkeley college republicanshopefully he has the chance to speak. we've seen our last three events canceled. and of course milo yiannopoulous shut down. in february an event that featured alt-right leader milo yiannopolus was shut down.. after a riot erputed.this time... police will be able to use pepper spray if necessary.. a move approved by the berkeley city council this week.. overturning a 20 year ban on the weapon naweed tahmas/berkeley college

white house chief strategist steve bannon is speaking on the final day. political commentators milo yiannopoulous and ann coulter are also speaking during the event. they were both scheduled to speak on campus before but the speeches were cancelled due to violent protests and safety concerns. ( james @ landing ) more big news this morning... president trump tweeted out this morning saying "no deal" regarding daca was completed. this news comes after top house and senate democrats announced an agreement with the president. president trump, senate minority leader chuck schumer and house minority leader nancy pelosi, of san francisco had met and were believed to have agreed on a deal that would protect hundreds of thousands of young undocumented immigrants from deportation. that deal was announced in a joint statement from the democratic leadership. the president says "massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent." and it's "subject to vote." the president also tweeted the following regarding daca. saying "does anybody really want to throw out good,

educated and accomplished young people who have jobs, some serving in the military? really!" (tiffany) a bit of relief for residents in the alameda point neighborhood. the water in that community is still not safe to drink. but the city of alameda has announced that the tap water is now safe for bodily contact. that means you can take a shower or wash your hands with the water. the city says all residents and businesses in this part of town should still flush their water fixtures for 10 minutes before using water for bathing and showering. kron 4's justine waldman shows us what is being done to help people cope with this huge inconvienence. 10 portable showers are now set-up at the fire department training center.nats of water coming out..the unit with separate stalls, is filled with plenty of hot water the showers have 200 gallon tanksbut families on alameda point want a solution, not a quick fix.mom jayme kapple was also trying to find paper plates the city said it was passing out.sot then i got the notice and the notice is not accurate on where to get these necessatieswhy this happened is the source of many meetings

at city hall the water belongs to east bay mud.the pipes to the city of alameda. liam garland with public works tells kron 4 news..while the answer right now is unknown, he believes somehow irrigation water, got mixed up with drinking water..he called it cross-contamination. sot either because of a failure of equipment or there can be contractors or other folks out in the field who do something that changes those systemsthe crates of free bottled water are going quickly.not knowing why the water is bad a source of anxiety and frustration.sot i have a cat i have two kids i am a single mom it is hard enough to do my house by myself and then this kind of issue happens justine:some test results from the water will be back on thursday morning.but people are being told to be prepared not to have water until friday.on alameda point, justine waldman kron 4 news. police arrested a woman accused of attacking someone in san mateo. officers say the attack happened tuesday morning on south el camino street. police say 36-year old sherry benally went up to another woman and began hitting her and knocking her to the ground a group of good samaritans stepped in and saved the victim. ( james ) benally faces charges of assault with a daedly weapon and elder abuse. (tiffany) one person is dead and two others are injured after a shooting in san francisco. and the shooter is still on the loose this morning.. 20-year-old reginald gage junior was shot and killed tuesday night in

the city's visitacion valley neighborhood. it happened just before 10:30 near the corner of sunnydale avenue and hahn street. police have released few details on the shooting. and no arrests have been made. (tiffany) a gun used in a deadly shooting was stolen from a san francisco police officer's car. the san francisco police officer's union says an officer's personal firearm was taken from his car. the burglary happened on august 12th. but at the time the officer did not know his car was broken into or that the weapon was gone. the gun was used in a gang-related homicide just three days later. the police union says the officer is working with the police department in the investigation. ( james ) a disturbing story out of the peninsula... a mother is accused of trying to kill her baby shortly after giving birth. it happened at a mcdonalds on chestnut street near el camino real in redwood city.(tiffany) kron four's dan kerman has the details. we want to warn you this story is graphic. and may be disturbing to some viewers. it's here at this mcdonalds on chestnut street in redwood city where 25 year old sarah lockner worked as a cashier but prosecutors say on labor day she went into a restaurant bathroom, gave birth to a son

and then attempted to drown the childsotwe have evidence she tried to drown this infant, we have charged her with attempted murder with the infliction of great bodily injury on that child prosecutors say lockner complained of stomach pains throughout her shift. when she went to the bathroom, two mcdonalds employees checked on her. soti believe these two employees saved the child's life by not ignoring it but by acting on it.prosecutors say one co-worker discovered blood on the floor, and told another employee who the da says went in to discover the alleged drowning in progress sot with her hand on his back pushing him down into the toilet water. police were called, lockner was arrested, and the child who was not breathing was taken to packard children's hospital. he is now expected to survive but it's unknown at this time if he has brain damage.soti got kind of scared, like poor baby, yeah i feel bad for the baby too outside the mcdonalds where lockner worked people don't know what to make of it sot what in her life is so in disarray that would make her go to those extremes, that's what we all have to ponder lockner, who has a boyfriend and an older child has told authorities she didn't know she was pregnant, but the d.a. isn't buying it and says it

makes no difference when it comes to the prosecution standup dan kerman/redwood city 138-147the defendant is due back in court monday afternoon to enter a plea. in rc dan kerman kron 4 news. 148/std ( james ) a san francisco man is lucky to be alive after a tree came crashing down onto his car. this was the scene earlier yesterday. just after the man was rescued by firefighters.(tiffany) crews spent much of the day cutting the tree apart. and clearing it off the street in the city's outer richmond neighborhood. kron four's j-r stone talked with the man who survived the accident. this is what it looks like

when a massive tree falls onto a 47-thousand dollar audi with just 7500 miles on it. it's what happened wednesday in san francisco's outer richmond.sot what can you dotrees falli was up at the va hospital and you can't park anywhere near there so.and while news of a totalled car is bad for paul brady.the situation was worse for brian cummings. in this video he's in his black porsche. which you can't really see because of the tree sitting on top of it. firefighters had to use chainsaws to get cummings out. sot i was just driving and lucky daythe tree just fell on me when i was driving. cummings was able to walk away with just a cut on his leg and says he's okay. neighbors in the area though are worriedworried that if other trees aren't taken down by the city something like this will happen again.sot love the trees but they have to go cleanup crews were able to clear the tree and the cars but the damage was extensive. both drivers are now hoping for returns on their insurance claims.

(tiffany @ landing) in national news... florida's governor is demanding answers after at least eight people died in a nursing home. the deaths may be due to the loss of air-conditioning after hurricane irma struck sunday. relatives say the temperatures inside the facility reached 110 degrees. catherine heenan has what happened next. "as we arrived on the scene with our fire rescue crews, we saw that there were a number of people in respiratory distress and other distress." more than one hundred residents were taken across to street to memorial regional

"most of the patients have been treated for respiratory distress, dehydration and heat related issues."the nursing home manager has a history of health-care fraud accusations. police say they are looking for evidence of criminal negligence. (tiffany) in antioch... a road rage incident led to an off-duty deputy from another county shooting at a driver. it happened about 10:00 tuesday night near lone tree way and delta fair boulevard. police say the deputy was with a woman, when another driver started chasing them and repeatedly running into their car. police say the man went up to the deputy's car with a tire jack in hand once the two cars had

stopped. that is when the deputy shot at the man before he ran away. police later tracked down the man and arrested him. police have not yet identified the deputy invovled. but say he is not from a contra costa county agency. (tiffany) a judge is dropping the charges against a former oakland police officer accused of being involved in a bay area wide sex scandal. the judge dismissed charges against brian bunton. this is video from a prior court appearance. he faced charges of obstruction of justice and engaging in prostitution. he pleaded not guilty to both. bunton was one of 30 bay area officers that jasmine abuslin says had sex with her while she worked as a prostitute. abuslin claims her relationship with bunton started when she was only 12-years-old and that he tipped her off about an undercover prostitution sting in oakland. several other officers are still facing charges. ( james ) one of the suspects in the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire has lost his bid to have the charges

against him dismissed. derick almena is facing 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter for the fire last december. almena is described as being the master tenant but was not at the warehouse when the fire erupted. he is currently behind bars along with co- defendant max harris. the two men are due back in court in two weeks. at that time they are enter pleas. ( james ) we are learning new information about the deadly shooting at a high school in washington state. police say a custodian stopped a student from continuing a shooting rampage that killed one student and injured three others early yesterday morning. authorities say the custodian approached the shooter during the incident and ordered him to surrender. a deputy who works at the school later arrested the student. police say the three students who were shot are seriously injured. police have not yet released the identity of the shooter. children and are protected by the daca immigration program. both santa cruz and monterey counties voted to become dreamers counties yesterday. this comes about a week after the trump administration said it would end the program after six months if congress didn't act. the declaration is meant to encourage congress to make daca into law. currently more than 200-thousand people are eligible for protection under the daca program. (tiffany) a bart station employee was attacked and robbed in rockridge. and the attacker is still on the loose. this is the second time in two days that someone at a bart station or train has been robbed. the latest incident happened monday morning. the station agent says someone became upset and attacked her. after hitting her, the person then grabbed her work bag and ran away. police have not released a detailed description of the attacker. this comes just days after an armed robbery on a bart train heading toward the hayward station. ban glass containers at all san francisco parks was forwarded to the board of supervisors. the proposal sent by "the public safety and neighborhood services comittee". it received a unanimous recommendation for approval yesterday. the legislation was stripped of one major feature. a proposed one - thousand dollar fine for littering and dumping. the idea was introduced in response to continuing problems with trash and broken shards of glass at dolores park. no word on when the new ordinance will be enforced. (tiffany) in the south bay... san jose city hall is hoping to use drones as a way to erase graffiti. kron four's rob fladeboe has more on the new technology that could save the city millions of dollars. this is the prototype of a graffiti fighting drone that is designed to take on hard to reach graffiti tags like these that have been painted over time and again on freeways across the bay area.

wednesday afternoon, a's fan at halftime sports bar in downtown oakland watched their team take on the boston red socks. they also reacted to news the a's will be staying in oakland and getting a new stadium.soti do think it's a good idea. especially with the raiders leaving.sot i think that's going to be something great for the city of oakland.most everyone i spoke to felt that putting the new stadium near lake merrit was a good idea, but there's was concern that game day traffic and crowds could be a problem for the neighborhood. sot i think bringing the a's to a more c entral location where there's more businesse and commerce i feel it will be good for the fan base and more jobs created.soti'm worried about traffic and the environment being crowded. it will be interesting to see how they set up parking and how they handle freeway access after the games.i also asked these fans what features they would like to see in a new stadium. sotair conditioning in the vip boxes or walking around. sot i defninetly would like it to be accessible for everyone, all walks of life. my grandmother is elderly and i would like her to be able to make a game. sot just having it safe, having it convenient . having good security. having good drinks but not to expensive. making it affordable for the oakland community.sotso just making sure the atmosphere is fan friendly so that fans can go to a real facility. some real games. they don't have to share with a football team a real baseball stadium.

( mark ) and bart police are also looking for the man who assaulted a bart vendor. this happened at the balboa park station. a man asked the vendor for change and when he opened the cash register the man hit the vendor and tried to grab the cash in the

register. he was not able to grab any of the money. the vendor suffered only minor injures. this is the second time in two days that a bart employee was attacked. the last happened on tuesday at the rockridge station when an attacker hit a station agent and stole her work bag. neither attacker has been caught. ( darya ) a big story we are following this morning... democrats say they have reached an agreement with the president to protect undocumented immigrants protected by the daca program. ( tiffany ) this morning president trump is denying that claim. senator chuck schumer and house minority leader nancy pelosi say they reached an agreement with president trump to make the protections of the daca immigration program into law. the daca program protects undocumented immigrants who came to the u-s as children. schumer and pelosi met with the president last night. in a statement... pelosi and schumer say they will also work out a plan for border security that does not include a plan for the president's proposed border wall. they

said the plan was acceptable to both sides. the white house quickly challenged that claim saying that excluding the wall was not agreed to. a spokesman for senator schumer says that the president will continue to push his plan for a border wall but it is not a part of this agreement. and this morning president trump is taking to twitter saying that no agreement was reached. saying quote: "no deal was made last night on daca. massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent." the president has given congress six months to act on the daca program. ( darya ) some relief this morning for people who live in the alameda point neighborhood. it is now safe to take a shower or wash your hands with the tap water. but you still cannot drink it. this comes as a health alert was issued on tuesday after east bay-mud found non-drinkable water in the drinking water system. officials say everyone in alameda point should run the water for 10 minutes before

bathing and showering this morning. more than 260 residents and 60 businesses have been affected by the water restrictions. east bay-mud says the drinking water was somehow contaminated with irrigation water. elderly woman in san mateo. officers say the attack happened on south el camino street and was unprovoked. police say sherry benally went up to another woman and began hitting her and knocking her to the ground a group of good samaritans stepped in and stopped the attack. they tried to detain her but she got away until police tracked her down. benally now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and elder abuse. ( mark ) a san francisco man is rescued after a tree comes crashing down on his car. it happened yesterday in the city's outer richmond district. the tree fell on two cars including a black porsche while the driver was inside. firefighters had to use chainsaws to get him out. neighbors in the area are worried that if other trees aren't taken down by the city something like this will happen again. more than a dozen u-s marines are recovering after an accident at camp pendleton in san diego. a total of 15 marines were injured when an amphibious vehicle caught fire during a training exercise. three of those marines are in critical condition this morning. five others are in serious condition. according to the marine corps, the vehicle involved in the accident has been used to transport marines from sea to land since the 1970s. ( darya ) new this morning... we are learning new information about the deadly shooting at a high school in washington state. the alleged gunman has been identified as 15-year-old caleb sharp. police say the teen simulated shootings in youtube videos and was known to post violent messages on social media. police say a custodian stopped sharp from continuing a shooting rampage that killed one student and injured three others. the custodian approached the shooter during the incident and ordered him to surrender. a deputy who works at the school eventually arrested the student.

police say the three students who were shot are expected to survive. ( mark ) glass containers will soon be banned at all parks in san francisco. the board of supervisors unanimously approved the proposal. the idea was first introduced in may in response to continuing problems with trash and broken shards of glass at dolores park. no word on when the new ordinance will be enforced. ( mark ) in national news... there is a new health care bill in the senate that would provide medicare for everybody. the bill was introduced by senator bernie sanders. it also has the support of california senator kamala harris. the bill would also cover prescriptions... dental insurance and vision insurance for everybody. republicans were quick to criticize the bill because it is expected to cost 3 trillion dollars a year. they question how the government can afford that.

( mark ) back here in the bay area... a gun used in a deadly shooting was stolen from a san francisco police officer's car. the gun was stolen last month but the officer says he did not know his car was broken into or that the weapon was gone. the gun was used in a gang- related homicide just three days after it was taken. the police union says the officer is working with the police department in the investigation. ( mark ) and this is not the first time that a gun stolen from law enforcement officers were used in murders in the bay area. in july of 2015... kate steinle was shot and killed on pier 14 in san francisco. the gun used was taken from a land management ranger just days before the shooting. the suspect is an undocumented immigrant who has been deported numerous times. ( mark ) and in oakland... muralist antonio ramos was shot to death in september of 2015. that gun was stolen from an immigration and customs enforcement agent in san francisco. a suspect is under arrest and charged with the murder. ramos's family has sued ice over his death. ( darya ) in the east bay... a judge is dropping

the charges against a former oakland police officer accused of being involved in a bay area sex scandal. the judge dismissed charges against brian bunton. this is video from a prior court appearance. he faced charges of obstruction of justice and engaging in prostitution. he pleaded not guilty to both. bunton was one of 30 bay area officers that jasmine abuslin says had sex with her while she worked as a prostitute. abuslin claims her relationship with bunton started when she was only 12-years-old and that he tipped her off about an undercover prostitution sting in oakland. several other officers are still facing charges. lockner worked as a cashier but prosecutors say on labor day she went into a restaurant bathroom, gave birth to a son and then attempted to drown the childsotwe have evidence she tried to drown this infant, we have charged her with attempted murder with the infliction of great bodily injury on that child prosecutors say lockner complained of stomach pains throughout her shift. when she went to the bathroom, two mcdonalds employees checked on her. soti believe these two employees saved the child's life by not ignoring it but by acting on it.prosecutors say one co-worker discovered blood on the floor, and told another employee who the da says went in to discover the alleged drowning in progress sot with her hand on his back pushing him down into the toilet water. police were called, lockner was arrested, and the child who was not breathing was taken to packard children's hospital. he is now expected to survive but it's unknown at this time if he has brain damage.soti got kind of scared, like poor baby, yeah i feel bad for the baby too

on the kron 4 morning news. 20-year-old reginald gage junior was shot and killed tuesday night in the city's visitacion valley neighborhood. it happened near the corner of sunnydale avenue and hahn street. two other people were injured in the shooting. the shooter is still on the loose. ( mark ) another warning for people traveling on bart this morning. cars are burglarized at three different stations. cars were broken into at the del norte station and the coliseum station. in one instance a window was smashed. in the other case... art supplies were stolen from the trunk of the car. and at the hayward station... a catalytic converter stolen. none of the thieves have been caught. ( mark ) and bart police are also looking for the man who assaulted a vendor. this happened at the balboa park station. a man asked the vendor for change and when he opened the cash register the man hit the vendor and tried to grab the cash in the register. he was not able to grab any of the money. the vendor suffered only minor injures. this is the second time in two days that a bart employee has been attacked. the last

are following from overnight... at least 25 people are dead... including 23 children after a fire at a school in malaysia. the fire started early this morning in the city of kuala lumpur. firefighters did manage to save five children from the school. investigators are still trying to figure out what started ( darya ) more than a dozen u-s marines are recovering after an accident at camp pendleton in san diego. a total of 15 marines were injured when an amphibious vehicle caught fire during a training exercise. three of those marines are in critical condition this morning. five others are in serious condition. according to the marine corps, the vehicle involved in the accident has been used to transport marines from sea to land since the 1970s. ( mark ) we are learning new information about the deadly shooting at a high school in washington state. police identified the gunman as 15-year-old caleb sharp. police say the teen simulated shootings in youtube videos and was known to post violent

messages on social media. police say a custodian stopped sharp from continuing the rampage that killed one student and injured three others. the custodian approached sharp and ordered him to surrender. a deputy who works at the school eventually arrested the student. police say the three students who were shot are expected to survive. ( mark ) glass containers will soon be banned at all parks in san francisco. the board of supervisors unanimously approved the proposal. the idea was first introduced in may in response to continuing problems with trash and broken shards of glass at dolores park. no word on when the new ordinance will be enforced. ( darya ) there is a new health care bill in the senate that would provide medicare for everybody. the bill was introduced by senator bernie sanders. it also has the support of california senator kamala harris. the bill would also cover prescriptions... dental insurance and vision insurance for everybody. republicans were quick to criticize the bill because it is expected to

us with a dryer forecast. look for partly cloudy skies this afternoon and highs that will be the coolest we've seen this week. inland valley ( darya ) a gun used in a deadly shooting was stolen from a san francisco police officer's car. the gun was stolen last month but the officer says he did not know his car was broken into or that the weapon was gone. the gun was used in a gang- related homicide just three days after it was taken. the police union says the officer is working with the police department in the investigation. ( darya ) and this is not the first time that a gun stolen from law enforcement officers were used in murders in the bay area. in july of 2015... kate steinle was shot and killed on pier 14 in san francisco. the gun used was taken from a land management ranger just days

before the shooting. the suspect is an undocumented immigrant who has been deported numerous times. ( darya ) and in oakland... muralist antonio ramos was shot to death in september of 2015. that gun was stolen from an immigration and customs enforcement agent in san francisco. a suspect is under arrest and charged with the murder. ramos's family has sued ice over his death. ( mark ) in the east bay... a judge is dropping the charges against a former oakland police officer accused of being involved in a bay area sex scandal. the judge dismissed charges against brian bunton. this is video from a prior court appearance. he faced charges of obstruction of justice and engaging in prostitution. he pleaded not guilty to both. bunton was one of 30 bay area officers that jasmine abuslin says had sex with her while she worked as a prostitute. abuslin claims her relationship with bunton started when she was only 12-years-old and that he tipped her off about an undercover prostitution sting in oakland. several other officers are still facing

( darya ) a bay area mother is accused of trying to kill her infant... shortly after giving birth.( mark ) it happened at a mcdonalds in redwood city. kron 4's dan kerman has the story. it's here at this mcdonalds on chestnut street in redwood city where 25 year old sarah lockner worked as a cashier but prosecutors say on labor day she went into a restaurant bathroom, gave birth to a son and then attempted to drown the childsotwe have evidence she tried to drown this infant, we have charged her with attempted murder with the infliction of great bodily injury on that child prosecutors say lockner complained of stomach pains throughout her shift. when she went to the bathroom, two mcdonalds employees checked on her. soti believe these two employees saved the child's life by not ignoring it but by acting on it.prosecutors say one co-worker discovered blood on the floor, and told another employee who the da says went in to discover the alleged

( mark ) more than 77-thousand dollars has been raised for the man who had his money taken away by a berkeley police officer. a go-fund- me account was set up for the man who wants to be refered to as "beto." he was selling hot dogs outside a u-c berkeley football game over the weekend. a bystander took this video showing an officer taking 60-dollars from beto's wallet and then handing him a ticket. the officer says he took the money because it was earned illegaly. he says beto did ánot have a

rolling down a steep hill in san francisco's north beach neighborhood. crews are in town shooting scenes for "ant-man and the wasp." it's the sequel to marvel's "ant-man" movie starring paul rudd and michael douglas. this appears to be an action scene.. a kron 4 viewer sent us this video of a car being flipped several times during a chase. the movie is set to be released next year. ( darya ) an environmental activist is planning to try something that has never been done before. he wants to swim all the way from tokyo to san francisco. ben lecomt says he wants to make the 5 thousand-500 mile swim to bring attention to ocean pollution. he calls the pacific the "great garbage patch." lecomt won't be making the journey alone. he will have a crew sailing
