(tiffany) a warning to parents this morning... berkeley police are spreading the word about this man... who they say is a potential threat to children. recently released from jail... he is accused of giving a baby an unknown liquid to drink at a berkeley park. kron four's ella sogomonian has more on what police are saying to look out for. berkeley police say 36 year-old william turner has an unnatural focus on kids. he's been arrested three times this year for inappropriate behaviour including harrassing a child.police found him undressed in front of this preschool back in may.

then twice in june two parents reported turner approached their kids inside this gated children's park at hearst and mcgee.police say he tried to feed an unknown liquid to at least three children, one of which just a year old.now that he's been released from jail police warn people to be on the lookout. sot: sgt. andrew frankel, berkeley police department//th at has caused us some concern. that's why we are sharing his picture, a little description as to what happened and we ask the public if they see him at a school or our nearby parks to let us know."grandparent jim draper says it's not the first time he's heard of an unaccompanied man inside the berkeley playground.sot: jim draper, grandparent// "it's really worrisome. a little later they put up a sign saying adults couldn't be here without kids." the sign now clearly says you cannot be inside unless you have a child.as for turner he's not allowed near áany park or school across alameda county.he was most recently arrested outside berkeley high school this month for disobeying that order.sot: noa teiboum //berkeley high freshman// "it's kind of concerning that he was arrested near berkeley high considering there are students around here and there are children around here they play

(james) we are learning new information about the man shot and killed by san jose p-d. they say jacob dominguez was a wanted gang member who vowed to "shoot it out" with the police.(tiffany) the suspect's relatives say he was a family man... who had turned away from a life of crime. kron4's maureen kelly spoke with the family. this is 33 year old jacob dominguez in pictures provided by his family. they admit he had a criminal history, but say that was behind him. that he had turned his life around, getting involved in church, and taking care of his wife and three kids. police say dominguez was a verified member of the norteno street gang with a long rap sheet of voilent crimes. and that he was wanted in connection to a series of crimes starting september 6th.the individual was tied into a possible drive-by shooting officers on view this individual committed

an armed robbery i mean at some point we need to make sure this crime spree ended unfortunately it ended with a tragic consequencespolice chief eddie garcia says dominguez's alleged accomplices in the september 12th armed robbery have been arrested. sjpd tried to take dominquez into custody before but he eluded officers more than once with erratic and dangerous driving that threatened to put the public at risk.investigators developed credible information that dominguez knew the police were looking for him, was carrying a handgun and he would shoot it out with police if need beso at 7p friday night at penitencia creek road and north white road undercover officers conducted a high risk traffic stop. dominguez seated in the driver seat of the vehicle initially raised hands but then yelled at officer's with expletives and challenged them to shoot him. dominguez then disobeyed officers by lowering hands out of sight in a reaching motion to the front drivers floorboard the officer felt dominguez was reaching for a weapon and discharges weapon

at dominguez striking him at least one timedominquez was pronounced dead at the scene. police say they found a knife and drugs in the car but no gun. the cop who fired the fatal shot, officer mike pina, an 11 year veteren of the force, was put on routine paid adminstrative leave. police say there is some body cam video but that won't be released until homicide and the da's office complete their investigation. maureen kelly kron4 news (james) police are searching for this woman... bart police say, she is connected to an attempted robbery unlike any they've seen before.(tiffany) the incident happened over the weekend on a bart train at san francisco's civic center station. kron four's dan kerman reports on what the police chief is saying about this unusual case. bart police have released this suveillance image of the woman they say attempted a rob another passenger saturday afternoon as the dublin bound train was approaching civic

center station in san francisco.sota person behind her dropped a note in her lap the note, posted on twitter was explicit. there are 2 guns pointed at you. if you want to live hand back your wallet and phonesot deputy chief lance haight/bart police the victim in this case decided not to do that but feigned a medical emergency. the strategy worked. several of the 20 to 30 passengers on the train car came to victim's aid and bart police say the suspect ended up getting off the train at powell street but they are not advising everyone take this stancesoti will caution people if you are ever confronted with an armed suspect give them whatever they are asking for.police can't say whether the suspect targetted her victim. but they do say the two initailly boarded different cars in daly city, and the suspect walked to the victim's car and sat behind her.standup dan kerman/oakland 100-110bart police say they want to hear from you if you can identify the woman in the image or if you were on the train at the time the incident happened. at bart police hq in oakland, dan kerman kron 4 news.

(james) at least one person has been arrested for running over two east bay police officers over the weekend. the incident happened sunday night, outside the safeway store on lewelling boulevard in san leandro. police say... when two officers attempted to arrest a man they suspected of shoplifting, he managed to run to his car... and then drive off... striking the two officers. the suspect -- 57-year-old terry gordon -- was arrested yesterday in oakland. one of the officers is still in the hospital recovering from their injuries... but is expected to be ok. (tiffany) another east bay safeway store is dealing with a series of crime and threats to public safety. now, concord city officials are putting pressure on the store to make some changes at the willow pass road location. kron four's spencer blake reports that employees there are concerned about their

safety. "i work here and i honestly see a problem with crime." christian korsgaard is an employee at the safeway on willow pass road in concord. he's tired of what goes on at this location, like when he got assaulted outside on sunday night."we got people in here every day stealing. we got people in here assaulting customers. we have people here just being violent and loud for no reason."many of the problems tie back to homelessness in the area. "there was like a homeless guy and i guess he was trying to steal meat and they said he put the meat down his pants and he was trying to get out with it and they were outside yelling at each other, telling him to leave and he didn't want to leave."other complaints range from a poorly-lit parking lot, to, as mayor laura hoffmeister puts it - the tiredness of the building.over the past several months, the police department has had ongoing talks with the manager here."kind of, their hands are tied, this is a corporate issue, they don't have certain authorities." korsgaard feels like local employees are doing the best they can, which is why he hopes the city and safeway

corporate can get some changes worked out.friday a spokeswoman responded to the mayor, saying the store already uses industry best practices to deter theft, like securing high-theft items.she also said the company is taking bids to get the exterior of the store re- painted, and they'll make improvements to the parking lot lighting as needed."if the city's putting pressure on them there's gotta be some reason why they're doing something wrong so, yeah i would say that they probably do need to tighten things up a little bit."safeway also plans to add hours for undercover loss prevention officers, and use additional security guards "as far as city goes, i actually hope they step it up 'cause right now we're having a real hard time with the crime."in concord, spencer blake, kron four news. (james) a hate crime tareting an asian american family in san francisco.... after the family chose to put a 'black lives matter' sign in their window. kron 4's j.r. stone talked to the victims at a community meeting last night. this small black lives matter sign has been in the window of this home near san francisco's twin peaks since 2015. but

police say it has sparked a hate crime as someone wrote the homeowners two letters.sot blue lives matter take your sign down or we will.that was in july and debbie lee and her family chose not to take the sign down and went about their daily lives. but one month later. another letter.sot take your sign down now áááá lives matterthe family contacted police and even the fbi. the person who wrote the letter has not been found. debbie's daughter says there's no way the sign is coming down now. in fact the two passed out new signs at a community meeting monday.sot if anything we have to keep the sign up debbie says it is important not to be silenced. sot so sad to seeespecially if they live in our neighborhood.

(tiffany) the oakland a's are one step closer to playing ball in a new stadium. yesterday oakland business leaders voiced their support for building the new ballpark at the current site of the peralta community college district.(tiffany) the new location would be a few blocks away from oakland's chinatown.. and a short distance from downtown.(james) that is where kron4's haaziq madyun caught up with one of the community leaders who approves of the new stadium proposal. long time oakland chinatown community leader carl chan talks about the positive impact of a the oakland a's building a new ballpark walking distance from chinatown

it the "pinhole eye." as the eye of 'hurricane maria' has gotten smaller, the winds surrounding it have gotten stronger. and there's even a chance it could merge with hurricane jose as it moves up the eastern seaboard. catherine heenan with more. natsrain began falling long before maria arrived.the storm is expected to produce six to twelve inches of rain ... enough to trigger life=threatening landslides.on island after island, schools, businesses and government offices are closed and shelters are openfarther north, in anteega, charter boat operators headed for safer harbors."our company, we've lost in excess of 100 boats so far by hurricane irma. for that reason, we're not taking any chances."maria is expected to reach puerto rico on wednesday morning, the island's first category four hurricane since hugo in 1989. the government has ordered

right-wing event called 'free speech week' is set to start. kron four's teresa estacio visited uc berkeley to find out what this means for the city. hundreds of police from several different agencies were brought last thursday - streets were barricaded and blocked off - in response to conservative speaker ben shapiro's event at zellerbach hall on campus. although 9 people were arrested, the event was calm compared to violent chaos that erupted in febrary when british commentator and alt-right speaker milo yiannopoulous came to town. with yiannopoulous again on the speakers list for the upcoming free speech week - uc administrators who said they did not prepare properly last february are not taking any chances this time around when he comes. dan mogulof, uc berkeley spokesperson. we are absolutely moving ahead with security concerns." mogulof says it is unclear right now how big the police prescense will be because they don't have an official list of who

"all we have is two people, milo and david horowitz. bryce masamoto, berkeley patriot. they are being unfair and unreasonable. bryce kasamoto is with the berkeley patriot, the student group that is behind the free speech week, along with milo inc a company run by milo yiannopolous. milo. " the unveristy is trying to shut us down." in a you tube video released monday, milo yiannopouls accused the university of not cooperating with the planned free speech week. the uniersity has maintaiend that it welcomes the group but will not change a standard contract which does not offer a refund if the university cancels the event for security reasons. right now, the group has reserved the space in front of sproul hall with two speakers planned on tuesday evening. bryce kasamoto. they will not shut us down. we are going forward.

(james) house minority leader from san francisco...nancy pelosi... had to abruptly leave a press conference after she was bombarded by protesters in hunters point. it happened yesterday morning. they were protesting her recent conversations with president trump about immigration policy. after the president announced plans to halt daca ... he's been holding meetings with pelosi and other top democrats. the democrats say a deal has been reached, but the white house denies it. coming upnow that the sonoma marin area rail transit, man that too many words so let's call it the smart train , now that the smart train is fully operational its time to take a refresher course on rail safety . ill explain in the next edition of people behaving badly

"smart"... but it's causing some drivers in marin to make "less than smart" decisions. (tiffany) so says stanley roberts... in this edition of people behaving badly. nats: sound of train approaching the sonoma -marin area rail transit also known as a the smart train is fully operational where in some areas it can reach speed of 79 miles per hour nats ambiance fortunately in san rafael the speeds are much lower; however the laws around the tracks are still the same for example any truck carrying hazardous or flammable materials must stop before crossing .nats: ambiance also all school and transit buses are required to stop like this bus driver just did the driver stopped, looked and listened, but a few completely rolled straight through nats ambiance this driver not only ran the red light the crosses over onto oncoming traffic to turn left in an area where left turns

are not permitted. i came back to san rafael to do a safety check up on this intersection, i was here back in 2016 and drivers were still getting the hang of itnats: ambiance by now one would think everything should be going smoothly . well drivers are still stopping on the tracks despite the no stopping on track sign and many were stopping in the keep clear area some sections of the smart train are called quiet zones so you won't hear horns here is a good way to figure this out, if you don't think you can maintain a constant speed when crossing the tracks . stay on the other side nats: ambiance the biggest issue i observed it this illegal left hand turn from 4th to tamalpais ave where the driver cross a double set of double yellow lines and the no left or u-turn sign many of the drivers are trying to get to house of bagels they must have some good bagels that people are risking a 238 dollar fine or worse getting hit by a train remember this . trains don't chase you down

( mark ) new this morning - police are investigating a homicide at a home in fairfield. it happened last night on valencia avenue. police went to the home after getting a call about a disturbance. when they got there, they found one person dead. two other people were detained and are being questioned. police have not said how the victim died but say they are investigating it as a homicide. ( mark ) another gun is stolen from a law enforcement officer in san francisco. it happened on sunday afternoon near the corner of san bruno avenue and 15th street. the san francisco sheriff's deputy's gun was stolen from a parked rental car. the deputy was off-duty at the time of the theft. investigators say the gun was not stored properly in the trunk of the car. the sheriff department's policy is that a gun must be stored locked in a metal box and out of sight. the sheriff's deputy who had his gun stolen is still on duty pending the outcome of the investigation. ( mark ) there have been at least three incidents of

gun's being stolen out of law enforcement vehicles and each of those guns were used in deadly shootings. those shootings include the shooting death of kate stienle on pier 14 in san francisco in july of 2015. also in 2015... muralist antonio ramos was shot and killed with a gun stolen from an imiigration agent's car. and most recently abel esquivel junior was killed with a gun stolen from a san francisco police officer's car. ( darya ) happening now... bart police are searching for this woman. they say she is connected to to an attempted robbery on a train. we first told you about this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. it happened over the weekend on a bart train at san francisco's civic center station. police have now released a surveillance photo. officers say this woman tried to rob another passenger by dropping a threatening note on her lap. the note said there were two guns pointed at the woman and told her to hand over her wallet. the woman faked a medical emergency and the attempted thief got off

( james ) hurricane maria has regained strength this morning and is back to being a category 5 storm after weakening overnight. take a look at this new video from overnight. this is on the island of guadeloupe just north of dominica. you can see just how violent the winds are blowing the trees and the rain. maria is a category 5 storm. it was also category 5 when it made landfall in dominica overnight. it is the strongest storm ever to hit that tiny island. there are reports of widespread damage there this morning. now maria is heading towards puerto rico where the governor is warning of a possible catastrophe. . ( darya ) in the east bay, a grocery store is plagued with crime and now the community is putting pressure on safeway to make some

changes. shoppers say the problem is at the store on willow pass road in concord. they say trespassing and shoplifting are becoming a growing problem. the police department has also expressed concern over the poorly-lit parking lot. these problems prompted city officials to reach out to safeway's corporate office to ask them to get the place cleaned up. safeway says the crime and safety in the willow pass area is something that the city needs to handle. but the company did say that they will be increasing security at the store. ( mark ) in the south bay... we are learning new details about what led up to a deadly police shooting in san jose. police say jacob dominguez was a member of the norteno street gang with a long history of violent crimes. san jose police claim dominguez even expressed wanting to "shoot it out" with police. authorities say when officers approached him friday night... he challenged the officers to shoot him. dominguez then put his hands down and made a reaching motion towards his car's floorboards. that's when one officer shot him. police say they found a knife and drugs inside dominguez's car but there was no gun.

( darya ) in the north bay... police are looking for a man who wore a wig during a bank robbery in sonoma. here is a picture of the robber police are looking for. it happened at the umpqua bank near the corner of first and napa streets yesterday morning. he gave the teller a note demanding money and then ran away through a nearby business. ( darya ) fairfax police are looking for the person who stabbed a man in the head. when police showed up their was a fight going on near the '19 broadway bar' in downtown fairfax. police stopped one of the cars and found a 26- year-old santa rosa man who had been stabbed in the head.

( darya ) new this morning... a warning for parents after a teenage girl is harassed by a man at a bus stop. it happened around 7:30 yesterday morning in santa rosa. the 14 year old girl says she was sitting at the bus stop near the intersection of bennett valley road and santa rosa avenue when the man walked up and asked the girl her name. she ignored him but she says he kept making verbal advances and asked if he could sit next to her. he then started using sexually explicit profanity. that is when the girl got up and ran away. the santa rosa police department is asking people to be extra careful around people they don't know and to report anything suspicious to police immediately. running over two san leandro police officers. we first told you about this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. it happened sunday night outside the safeway store on lewelling boulevard. officers were called to the store because of reports of a shoplifter. police say when the officers went to arrest the shoplifter, he ran off to a car... and then drove off... hitting the two officers. police arrested 57-year-old terry gordon in oakland. one of the officers is still in the hospital ... but both are expected to be ok. ( mark ) police are investigating two separate shootings that happened just hours apart in san francisco. first... a woman was shot in the leg after a struggle with two armed robbers in the mission district. it happened near 17th and capp streets yesterday morning. the robbers got away with her phone and wallet. she is expected to be okay but the attackers are still on the loose. ( mark ) and about two hours later... a man was shot in san francisco's bayview district near interstate 280. the man heard a gunshot and a car speeding away when he relealized that he had been shot. he was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. police have not released any information about

( darya ) controversy is brewing at u-c berkeley as "free speech week" approaches. scheduled speakers such as political commentator milo yiannopolous say the university is doing everything it can to keep the event from happening. the event is supposed to kick off sunday. but berkeley officials say yiannopolous and the student group berkeley patriots missed the deadlines needed to hold the event. administrators says they signed the contract and paid event fees too late... and neglected to provide a list of guest speakers. yiannopolous and the berkeley patriots say they tried to fulfill all the requirements. they are accusing the university of blocking conservative voices. ( darya ) happening today... opponents of the proposed site to build a new a's stadium in oakland are holding a rally against it. this comes as oakland business leaders are voicing their support for building the new ballpark at the current site of the peralta community

( darya ) a texas man is under arrest ... accused of killing an 83-year-old woman at an assisted living facility in san lorenzo. investigators with the alameda county sheriff's office tell kron 4 that they used surveillance video to track down 30-year-old sean wallace. he was arrested in texas and has been extradited to the

( darya ) in the south bay, arson investigators are looking into a fire that destroyed a trailer full of donated goods. the fire broke out at the salvation army store off camino arroyo in gilroy yesterday morning. it destroyed a trailer loaded with donations. the trailer was attached to the store's loading dock. the fire caused at least three- thousand- dollars in damage. the fire is being considered suspicious because a similar fire broke out at a store nearby. ( mark ) credit reporting company equifax is releasing new details about a second data breach. equifax is revealing that they had a breach back in march which was about two months before a major breach that impacted 143 million people. hackers were able to get access to information that includes social security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and driver's license numbers. a class action lawsuit has been filed against the company. the company says the two data breaches are not connected. it is not clear how many people were impacted by the breach in march. ( mark ) another gun is stolen from a law enforcement officer in san francisco. it happened on sunday afternoon near the corner of san bruno avenue and 15th street. the san francisco sheriff's deputy's gun was stolen from a parked rental car. the deputy was off-duty at the time of the theft. investigators say the gun was not stored properly in the trunk of the car. the sheriff department's policy is that a gun must be stored locked in a metal box and out of sight. the sheriff's deputy who had his gun stolen is still on duty pending the outcome of the investigation. ( mark ) there have been at least three incidents of gun's being stolen out of law enforcement vehicles and each of those guns were used in deadly shootings. those shootings include the shooting death of kate stienle on pier 14 in san francisco in july of 2015. also in 2015... muralist antonio ramos was shot and killed with a gun stolen from an imiigration agent's car. and most recently abel esquivel junior was killed with a gun stolen from a san francisco police officer's car. bart police are searching for this woman. they say she is connected to to an attempted robbery on a train. we first told you about this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. it happened over the weekend on a bart train at san francisco's civic center station. police have now released a surveillance photo. officers say this woman tried to rob another passenger by dropping a threatening note on her lap. the note said there were two guns pointed at the woman and told her to hand over her wallet. the woman faked a medical emergency and people rushed to help her and that is when the attempted thief got off the train at the next stop. ( mark ) breaking news we are following this morning... hurricane maria is hammering the caribbean.( darya ) the prime minister of dominica says the devastation is widespread. james fletcher is here with the latest. james. ( darya ) in the east bay, a grocery store is plagued with crime and now the community is putting pressure on safeway to make some changes. shoppers say the problem is at the store on willow pass road in concord. they say trespassing and shoplifting are becoming a growing problem. the police department has also expressed concern over the poorly-lit parking lot. these problems prompted city officials to reach out to safeway's corporate office to ask them to get the place cleaned up. safeway says the crime and safety in the willow pass area is something that the city needs to handle. but the company did say that they will be increasing security at the store. ( mark ) in the south bay... we are learning new details about what led up to a deadly police shooting in san jose. police say jacob dominguez was a member of the norteno street gang with a long history of violent crimes. san jose police claim dominguez even expressed wanting to "shoot it out" with police. authorities say when officers approached him friday night... he challenged the officers to shoot him. dominguez then put his hands

( mark ) chipotle is facing a sexual harassment lawsuit in federal court in san jose. the lawsuit claims that a manager at one of the san jose locations sexually harassed one of her employees and then retaliated against him when he complained. it happened at the restaurant on capitol avenue. the lawsuit claims that the woman made unwanted sexual advances and grabbed the man on several occasions. when the employee complained to a supervisor... he says other employees locked him in a freezer. chipotle is not commenting on the lawsuit. ( mark ) the future of more than a dozen toys-r-us stores in the bay area is up in the air this morning. the company has filed for bankruptcy as it tries to pay off five-billion dollars in debt. this comes as the holiday shopping season approaches... which is when many retailers earn half of their annual revenue. toys-r-us has lost 164-million dollars in just the first half of the year. shoppers say they aren't surprised to hear the news.

stop. it happened around 7:30 yesterday morning in santa rosa. the 14 year old girl says she was sitting at the bus stop near the intersection of bennett valley road and santa rosa avenue when the man walked up and asked the girl her name. she ignored him but she says he kept making verbal advances and asked if he could sit next to her. he then started using sexually explicit profanity. that is when the girl got up and ran away. the santa rosa police department is asking people to be extra careful around people they don't know and to report anything suspicious to police immediately. ( darya ) a man is in jail this morning accused of running over two san leandro police officers. we first told you about this story yesterday on the kron 4 morning news. it happened sunday night outside the safeway store on lewelling boulevard. officers were called to the store because of reports of a shoplifter. police say when the officers went to arrest the shoplifter, he ran off to a car... and then drove off... hitting the two officers. police arrested 57-year-old terry

( mark ) police are investigating two separate shootings that happened just hours apart in san francisco. first... a woman was shot in the leg after a struggle with two armed robbers in the mission district. it happened near 17th and capp streets yesterday morning. the robbers got away with her phone and wallet. she is expected to be okay but the attackers are still on the loose. ( mark ) and about two hours later... a man was shot in san francisco's bayview district near interstate 280. the man heard a gunshot and a car speeding away when he relealized that he had been shot. he was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. police have not released any information about the shooter. ( mark ) controversy is brewing at u-c berkeley as "free speech week" approaches. scheduled speakers such as political commentator milo yiannopolous say the university is doing everything it can to keep the event from happening. the event is supposed to kick off sunday. but berkeley officials say yiannopolous and the student group berkeley patriots missed the deadlines needed to hold the event. administrators

( mark ) a texas man is under arrest ... accused of killing an 83-year-old woman at an assisted living facility in san lorenzo. investigators with the alameda county sheriff's office tell kron 4 that they used surveillance video to track down 30-year-old sean wallace. he was arrested in texas and has been extradited to the bay area.. at first, investigators thought 83- year-old ru feng had some sort of medical issue and fell to the ground. but when they reviewed the video, they say it showed the wallace attacking her. ( darya ) in the south bay... arson investigators are looking into a fire that destroyed a trailer full of donated goods. the fire broke out at the salvation army store off camino arroyo in gilroy yesterday morning. it destroyed a trailer loaded with donations. the trailer was attached to the

( mark ) credit reporting company equifax is releasing new details about a second data breach. equifax is revealing that they had a breach back in march which was about two months before a major breach that impacted 143 million people. hackers were able to get access to information that includes social security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and driver's license numbers. a class action lawsuit has been filed against the company. the company says the two data breaches are not connected. it is not clear how many

( darya ) there's a new effort this morning by republicans to repeal and replace the affordable care act. but a new reports says that under the proposed bill... millions of people would lose their insurance. the bill must be approved in the next two weeks by the senate and the house if republicans want it approved by a simple majority. after that it would need a 60 vote majority in the senate. no democrats are supporting the bill. the bill would end the individual and employer mandates and stop the medicade expansion.
