mexican navy has been in charge of the rescue operation at the elementary school .navy officials now say that all of the students have been accounted for. nineteen of them are dead, along with six adults . natafter the quake struck at midday on tuesday, attention quickly focused on this private school in southern mexico city.natit was shaking, this little girl says, i had to grab the railing. everything started to fall in all directions. dramatic pictures of children pulled from the collapsed building were followed by round the clock live coverage of the search for survivors.rescue workers first said they had contacted a 12=year old girl, named frida sofia.but today officials denied the story.nat elsewhere in the city, many damaged buildings are still in danger of collapse.volunteers removed bricks and pieces of concrete by hand and used thermal -- sound -- and movement sensors.workers hold up their fists to signal for silence so rescuers can listen

(grant) other news that's happening now... 59-year-old sal mejia... has been identified as the man killed in a hit and run collision last night in san jose. it happened at around 10-30 ... on ocala avenue near bermuda avenue. a neighbor says mejia was trying to cross the street to get his car...he and his wife were headed to dinner when he was hit. the suspect did not stop. enrique garcia/sjpd- "time is of the essence. if we are able to identify the driver, locate him and take him into custody pretty quickly, then we could still, um, obtain blood tests from him to be able to determine what his blood alcohol at that time." police are looking for the susopect who was driving a mini-van....a 2001 to 2007 chrysler town and country or dodge caravan... most likely with some front end damage. (estacio reporting) this is what was discovered early thursday morning - an anti-semitic sentence defacing the side of the east bay's oldest synagogue, temple sinai in oakland. sam schuchat, "people were pretty upset and

angry." sam schuchat is the temple's president. sam. we got the call that the synagogue had been vandalized - johanna watson, opd. we are treating this as a hate crime - because of the wording. oakland police were called in for extra security.. .the temple has it's own staff , plus an elaborate surveillace camera system - investigagtors are going over video coverage now for a sign of whoever did this. the incident happened around 5 in the morning under the cover of darkness as morning unfolded, paper was used to shield those coming to celebate the beginning of the jewish holiday, rosh hashanah . and this happened as well, instead of just blank paper, members left notes of peace in hopes of erasing the hate. sam. we are encouraging everyone to sign messages of love. sadly, this is not the only case of vandalism on a jewish temple sam. this is the 3 in the last month. as members left following an afternoon children's ceremony - they reflected on the crime. kia simon. it is really hurtful. (grant) another big story we are tracking tonight... facebook is giving some three thousand russian ads... to congress. this comes two weeks after the company informed congress that it had sold the ads to russians. those ads went to accounts linked to a russian troll farm between 20-15 and 20-17. facebook has already released

the ads to federal authorities investigating russian interference in the 20-16 presidential election. facebook ceo mark zuckerburg is speaking up about his company's stance on interference in politics. (vicki) chp officials say a deadly 16-vehicle crash has shut down westbound traffic ... on interstate 80 in the sierra.. where it is snowing and hailing. the crash happened this morning in placer county near cisco grove... after the weather turned nasty and hail begin to fall. chp says one man died when his pickup truck crashed into another truck. a few other people suffered minor injuries. the california department of transportation estimates the westbound lanes of i-80 to reopen after 6 tonight. the cause of the crash remains under investigation. closer to making its own smartphones. the tech company says that it plans to buy part of h-t-c's mobile division team. google says it will spend one-point-one billion dollars for it. the deal will give google access to the hardware it needs to jump into the phone- making business. also as part of the deal-- some h-t-c employees will join google. the company says many of those employees were already working with it to develop pixel smartphones. h-t-c will still make its own smartphones...but the acquisition means it's lost a good portion of its talent. (vicki) the widespread power outage in puerto rico is making it hard for bay area residents with ties to the u-s commonwealth to get in touch with friends and family. the hurricane has also knocked out most of the cell phone service there. jennifer gonzalez in san rafael has a lot of extended family on the island. she's gotten word that one of her aunts who lives near san juan is safe. but another aunt, who recently turned 80 and lives in a more remote location, has not been heard from and her relatives are growing more concerned. i was in communtication with my aunt just a couple of days ago, during irma a couple of

former nfl star who took his life while serving a murder sentence in prison... had c- t-e....damage to his brain likely caused by football collisions. boston university's renowned cte center examined hernandez's brain. the former tight end's attorney..has announced a federal lawsuit, filed on behalf of hernandez's daughter, against both the nfl and the new england patriots. c-t-e is known to cause anxiety and depression, which experts say, could have contributed to hernandez' suicide in prison. (vicki) the illinois supreme court is upholding the murder conviction for former police sergeant drew peterson. he was convicted in 2012 of murdering his third wife kathleen savio. the state's high court ruled unanimously and released its decision today. peterson's third wife savio was found dead in a bathtub in 2004. at the time, the death was

ruled an accident, but the case was reopened in 2007 after peterson's fourth wife, stacy disappeared. conversations she had with her pastor and others were used against peterson in the savio case. last year, the 63-year old was convicted of plotting to kill the prosecutor in his murder case.
