minsand less than 10 if you need to cross the richmond san rafael bridge ( james ) happening right now... another bay area neighborhood on edge as police look for another peeping tom. yesterday we told you about the peeping tom on the loose in alameda... now police in santa clara are looking for this man. they say he was seen peeping into homes near the intersection of kiely boulevard and homestead road. he was seen looking in windows during the day and at night. police do not believe that this case is connected to the case in alameda. ( james ) also happening

now... police in the east bay warning customers of possible fraud after several credit card skimmers were found at a gas station. police say they found six credit card skimmers at the valero on somersville road in antioch. but it is unclear how long the skimmers were there so right now they don't know how many people may have been affected. experts say the skimmers are hard to see. but they say if you shake the card reader... and it is a skimmer... it will usually come off. now police are warning people to check there credit card statements and bank accounts to make sure they have not been targeted. if you do see any purchases that you didn't authorize, you're asked to report them to antioch police. ( james ) happening now... police in vallejo investigating after a body was found in front of the medic ambulance building. the body was found yesterday after noon at the building on couch street. police say the victim had multiple gunshot wounds. police say it looks like somebody drove the victim to the ambulance service's office instead of a

hospital. the victim's name has not been released. ( james ) happening now... crews in mexico continue to dig through the rubble looking for survivors after tuesday's deadly 7-point-1 earthquake. the death toll has now risen to more than 270. police say several survivors were pulled from the rubble of two buildings in mexico city. but now mexican officials are saying that reports of a young girl trapped in the rubble of her collapsed school building were false. the mexican news media and volunteer rescuers all reported that the girl was alive and had wiggled her fingers and even talked to rescuers. but it turns out the girl never existed. all of the kids in the school have now been accounted for. now rescue efforts have shifted as the mexican president said survivors could still be trapped in collapsed buildings in mexico city. ( james ) back here in the bay.... some uc-berkeley students are doing their part to help earthquake victims in mexico the mexican association of students at berkeley is using a crowd

source funding website... to raise money for quake victims in places outside of mexico city. that includes places like oaxaca...which still hasn't recovered from a major earthquake back on september 7th. if you would like to help the students in their you can find the information on how to donate at our website... at kron 4 dot ( james ) happening today... crews will continue removing shipping containers that fell into the water at the port of oakland. 11 containers fell into the water yesterday. so far only one has been removed. the others are completely submerged and will be removed sometime today. no body was injured when the containers fell into the water. according to the port of oakland... there is no risk of contamination to the bay. there is no word on what caused the containers to fall in the water. ( james ) we now know the name of the man accused of killing his step father in the east bay. we first told you about this story earlier this week on the kron 4 morning news. a 31-year- old dominic griffin is charged with murder after antioch

police say, he shot and killed his step-father and injured his half- brother. griffin is also charged with attempted murder. the shooting happened tuesday morning on lawton street. investigators say, the three men got into an argument. police believe griffin ran to his car... grabbed a gun and shot his step-father. his half-brother drove to a nearby liquor store .... where he called 9-1-1. he was shot in theupper body -- and is expected to survive. ( james ) new this morning... police have arrested four people from the bay area for poaching abalone in mendocino and sonoma counties.. we have new pictures of the arrests this morning. two of the suspects are from the east bay. the others are from san jose. wildlife officials say the four people were selling the abalone on the black market. the suspects had been under investigation for the last five months. police say some of the four people arrested had previously been convicted for similar ( james ) happening now... fire crews in the north bay are working to fully contain a fire burning in marin county.

the fire broke out yesterday afternoon and has burned around 10 acres in west marin. at last check the fire was 70% contained. fire crews hope to have it fully contained sometime today. nobody was injured and no homes have been destroyed. there is no word on the cause this morning. ( james ) and a reminder for people taking bart this weekend... there is a major bart closure to tell you about. the south fremont station will be closed for each of the next two weekends for construction. a free bus will run between the south fremont and fremont stations every 20 minutes. bart officials are telling riders to expect a 20 to 30 minute delay. ( james ) caltrain commutors prepare to pay a little more to ride the train starting next month. riders will pay an additional 25 cents for each zone. the eight-ride tickets will no longer be available. monthly parking passes will also cost you way more. going from 55 dollars to 82-dollars and 50-cents. daily parking fees will stay the same. train schedules are also changing. caltrain officials say the new schedule

( james ) in the east bay... police have arrested a man who they say plowed his car through a group of people. on september 2nd, police say 22-year-old antonio morales sped his nissan maxima through a crowd in parking lot on taylor lane in the town of byron. the driver hit two people before speeding off. the victims were taken to the hospital. their conditions are unknown. morales has been booked on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. he's being held on two point three million dollars in ( james ) in the south bay... san jose police are on the hunt for a driver who struck and killed a pedestrian. it happened wednesday night when a car rammed into a man crossing the street on ocala avenue. according to police, the victim was hit by a 2001 to 2007 chrysler town and country or dodge caravan. dodge caravan. the driver fled the scene without stopping. the victim, 58 year old sal mejia was taken

to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. mejia's neighbor says she can't believe what happened. ( james ) police say this is the city's 32nd deadly car crash of the year. ( james ) the search is on for the gunmen who robbed a family in union city. it happened sunday at 10 p-m on the 33000 block of washington avenue. the family was pulling up to their garage at the time after a night out. that's when two people armed with handguns demanded money and other valuables from the three victims. the gunman then fled on washington avenue toward oregon street. ( james ) in novato... a man now has had the stolen

from william nave of novato, his mother's ashes were stolen but he was reunited with them. in rhonert park gabe slate kron 4 news ( james ) fresh fish are returning to san francisco's fisherman's wharf. starting this weekend san francisco will allow fisherman to sell dabs sole and rockfish from their boats at the popular tourist spot as part of a one-year pilot program. san francisco banned such sales in 2000. but reversed it's policy on september 12th after a campaign by fisherman looking to increase their ( james ) republican leaders say it is a toss- up if they will have enough votes to repeal and replace obamacare next week. the senate is set to consider a bill that shifts federal health funding to each state. but critics worry millions could be left uninsured or under insured for things like pre-existing conditions. mark meredith takes a closer look. marc short says he's aggressively trying to convince republican senators to support the obamacare overhaul known as "graham cassidy".in this case, there is a limited number of senators on the fence and its more of a targeted effort" those targets include senator lisa murkowski of alaska, john mccain of arizona, and susan collins of maine. the three voted no on a previous g-o-p attempt to repeal and replace. "as the white house tries to reach 50 votes. pro-obamacare groups are launching ad campaigns trying to convince senators that may be on the fence, not to support graham cassidy"nat: "it'll gut medicaid" this new t-v ad, from "protect our care", is rolling out in at least 3 states. brad woodhouse says the ads are essential in letting people know what's at stake. ( james ) the santa cruz doctor and the nurses arrested for allegedly running a child- sex ring are now facing more charges. this comes after investigators discovered additional video footage. doctor james kohut, rashel brandon, and emily stephens were arrested in may when investigators received video implicating the three. they were each charged with several child molestation counts. authorities have since found another video. the defendants are now facing 32- additional charges. bail is set at 15- million dollars each. all three have pleaded not guilty. ( james ) hurricane maria is picking up steam. turning streets into raging rivers as it continues its deadly tear across the carribbean. the storm has killed at least 15 people on the island of dominica. 120 mile per hour winds hit

turks and caicos. and is still pummeling the domincian republic and puerto rico. in just 24 hours maria dumped 30 inches of rain on puerto rico. where millions of residents are without power. however a glimmer a hope emerged when officials annouced puerto rico's largest airport will reopen today. offering hurricane victims a chance to flee. ( james ) the widespread power outage in puerto rico is making it hard for bay area residents with ties to the u-s commonwealth to get in touch with friends and family. the hurricane has also knocked out most of the cell phone service there. jennifer gonzalez in san rafael has a lot of extended family on the island. she's gotten word that one of her aunts who lives near san juan is safe. but another aunt, who recently turned 80 and lives in a more remote location, has not been heard from and her relatives are growing more concerned.

pretty well and at least i heard that she was okay but it wasn't a direct hit and here we are with maria being a direct hit and there's no communication at all and the whole island is without power so i'm concerned and i feel helpless there's very little information and i'm just waiting, waiting to see.>( james ) the puerto rican civic club of san jose has launched a facebook fundraiser with a goal of raising 100- thousand dollars for the relief effort. they say they've partnered with a local fire department to help ensure the money reaches those in the poor rural areas most impacted by the disaster. ( james ) the oakland museum of california will pay homage to the vicitms of the ghost ship fire which killed 36 people last december. the city's "day of the dead exhibit" will feature a sculpture of a ship which will have suspended cards attached with the names of those 36 vicitms on them. members of the public will be invited to add their thoughts or remarks. it's scheduled to open on october 18th at the museum on oak street in oakland. ( james ) the city of san francisco is covering daca

recipient's renewal fees. the city is paying the 495- dollar fee for recipients who need to renew their application before october fifth. the funds will come from the office of civic engagement and immigrant affairs. this saturday the city is holding a free informational workshop for daca recipients. it is at mission high school on 18-th street from one to five pm. the workshop will include legal assistance and screenings. ( james ) tesla is denying claims that it tried to prevent employees from passing out union leaflets at it's fremont factory. the national labor relations board filed a complaint agaisnt tesla earlier this month. citing multiple incidents at it's fremont assembly plant. some workers allege that tesla's security guards refused to let them pass out leaflets about the united auto workers union. they also claim that a tesla supervisor threatened to fire employees if they passed out stickers, leaflets or other materials not approved by the company. tesla denys those claims. a multi-car crash blocked westbound traffic on i-80 near cisco grove. investigators say one driver was going too fast as hail was falling in the area, which caused a chain reaction crash. as many as 16 cars were involved in the pileup. several other drivers were injured as well. the pileup was below the snow line. but the chp believes the weather and possibly drivers going too fast contributed to the crash. ( james ) a gun and machete-yielding woman stormed a store founded by the kardashian family in los angeles. officers say the woman pointed a gun at an employee at the "dash" fashion boutique knocked some things off the shelve and took off. they say she returned with a 14-inch machete shortly after. she stuck it in the door and then took off again... no one was injured and police are still looking for the woman. officers are

looking at surveillance footage and are investigating. ( james ) a pennsylvania couple says they were robbed at their wedding by the d-j. when the karasek's came home from their wedding they only had 15 cards. there were more than 100 peole at the wedding. guests later told the couple the dj kept the card box behind the dj booth. they had to hand the cards over to the d-j. the karasek's say nearly five- thousand dollars was taken out of their cards. ( james ) the d-j told police he took the money because of financial problem. he claims he only too 600 dollars. he is charged with receiving stolen property and ( james ) another big story this morning... aaron hernadez the former nfl star who took his life while

serving a murder sentence in prison had c-t-e. that brain damage likely coming from repeated collissions while playing football. the advanced c-t-e was found thanks to an examination of his brain at boston university's famed cte center. the former tight end's attorney has announced a federal lawsuit filed on behalf of hernandez's daughter against both the nfl and the new england patriots. ( james ) c-t-e is generally found in people after repeated head trauma. it is also known to cause anxiety and depression. which could have contributed to hernandez' suicide in prison. ( james ) as for the red and gold... the niners and rams were on national television for thursday night football from levi's stadium.

( darya ) police in vallejo are investigating a body found in front of the medic ambulance building. the body was found yesterday afternoon at the building on couch street. the victim had multiple gunshot wounds. police say it looks like somebody drove the victim to the ambulance service's office instead of a hospital. ( mark ) in the east bay... police have arrested a man accused of plowing his car into a group of people. on september 2nd, police say antonio morales sped his nissan maxima through a crowd in parking lot in the town of byron. the driver hit two people before speeding off. the victims were taken to the hospital. morales has been booked on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. ( mark ) in the south bay... san jose police are on the hunt for a driver who struck and killed a pedestrian. it happened wednesday night when a car rammed into a man crossing the street on ocala avenue. the victim

( darya ) happening now... crews in mexico continue to dig through the rubble looking for survivors after spending days looking for a 12-year-old girl who was never there. the death toll has now risen to more than 270 after the 7-point 1 earthquake hit on tuesday. police say several survivors were pulled from the rubble of two buildings in mexico city yesterday. but now mexican officials are saying that reports of a young girl trapped in the rubble of her collapsed school building were false. the mexican news media and volunteer rescuers all reported that the girl was alive and had wiggled her fingers and even talked to

east bay. a 31-year-old dominic griffin is charged with murder after antioch police sa he shot and killed his step-father and injured his half- brother. griffin is also charged with attempted murder. the shooting happened tuesday morning when investigators say the three men got into an argument. police believe griffin ran to his car... grabbed a gun and shot his step-father. his half-brother drove to a nearby liquor store .... where he called 9-1-1. he was shot in theupper body -- and is expected to survive. ( darya ) a man from novato now has his mother's ashes after they were stolen from his truck. william nave planned on fulfilling his mother's dying wish of spreading her ashes just outside the golden gate. nave was also going to scatter the ashes of his german shepard who also recently passed away. he was visiting a friend in rohnert park last week when his truck was stolen with his mother's and his dog's remains inside it. a boy ended up finding a backpack with the mother's remains inside it at a nearby park.

( darya ) fresh fish are returning to san francisco's fisherman's wharf. starting this weekend, san francisco will allow fisherman to sell dabs... sole and rockfish from their boats at the popular tourist spot as part of a one-year pilot program. san francisco banned these types of sales in 2000. but the city reversed it's policy earlier

( mark ) take a look at this... five police officers breaking into a car that is engulfed in flames in order to rescue the people inside. this is body camera video showing the rescue. it happened in atlanta. two people were trapped inside the car. the officers tried to get the people out but their legs were pinned down. so they started pouring tubs of water on the flames until firefighters could get there and pull the two out of the car. firefighters say the officers likely saved the people's lives. ( darya ) the santa cruz doctor the santa ( darya ) the santa cruz doctor and the nurses accused of running a child- sex ring are now facing more charges. this comes after investigators discovered more video evidence. doctor james kohut, rashel brandon, and emily stephens were arrested in may when investigators received video of the sex crimes. they were each charged with child molestation. authorities have since found another video. the defendants are now facing 32 additional charges. bail

( mark ) the widespread power outage in puerto rico is making it hard for bay area residents with ties to the island to get in touch with friends and family. the hurricane has also knocked out most of the cell phone service there. jennifer gonzalez who lives in san rafael has a lot of extended family on the island. she's received word that one of her aunts who

( mark ) and flights all across the u-s may be impacted by hurricane maria. at least two major airlines have cancelled all flights to and from puerto rico. jet blue and southwest airlines say all flights will be cancelled until at least tomorrow. ( darya ) and we have new video this morning showing the coast guard rescuing a mother and her two sons who were trapped on a capsized boat in the caribbean. the capsized boat washed up off the coast of puerto rico after being hit by 150 mile an hour winds. you can see the

another bay area neighborhood on edge as police look for a prowler. yesterday we told you about the prowler on the loose in alameda. now police in santa clara are looking for this man. they say he was seen peeping into homes near the intersection of kiely boulevard and homestead road. he was seen looking in windows during the day and night. police do not believe that this case to the one in alameda. ( darya ) police in vallejo are investigating a body found in front of the medic ambulance building. the body was found yesterday afternoon at the building on couch street. the victim had multiple gunshot wounds. police say it looks like somebody drove the victim to the ambulance service's office instead of a hospital.

( darya ) happening today... there will be a march ad rally for a bay area trans- activist who was shot and killed in san francisco. anthony torres, who went by the name bubbles, was shot and killed on september 10th. the shooter is still on the loose. police say they have identified a possible person of interest but are still working the case. today's rally will begin at larkin and myrtle streets where torres was killed. the rally starts at four this afternoon. ( mark ) in the east bay... police have arrested a man accused of plowing his car into a group of people. on september 2nd, police say antonio morales sped his nissan maxima through a crowd in parking lot in the town of byron. the driver hit two people before speeding off. the victims were taken to the hospital. morales has been booked on charges of attempted murder and assault with a weapon. ( mark ) in the south bay... san jose police are on the hunt for a driver who struck and killed a pedestrian. it happened wednesday night when a car rammed into a man crossing the street on ocala avenue. the victim was hit by a 2001 to 2007

( darya ) the rescue of a little girl from a collapsed school in the mexico earthquake that captivated the world is over. they didn't get her out because she was never there.. mexico officials say there was no little girl alive and trapped in the rubble. the death toll has now risen to more than 270. police say several survivors were pulled from the rubble of two buildings in mexico city. the mexican news media and volunteer rescuers all reported that the girl was alive and had wiggled her fingers and even talked to rescuers. 11 children were rescued.. 19 were killed plus

( mark ) we now know the name of the man accused of killing his step father in the east bay. a 31-year-old dominic griffin is charged with murder after antioch police sa he shot and killed his step-father and injured his half- brother. griffin

( darya ) a man from novato now has his mother's ashes after they were stolen from his truck. william nave planned on fulfilling his mother's dying wish of spreading her ashes just outside the golden gate. nave was also going to scatter the ashes of his german shepard who also recently passed away. he was visiting a friend in rohnert park last week when his truck was stolen with his mother's and his dog's remains inside it. a boy ended up finding a backpack with the mother's remains inside it at a nearby park.

( darya ) the city of san francisco is stepping up efforts to prevent a hepatitis a outbreak. this comes after three outbreaks of the disease have been reported in three california counties including santa cruz county. more than 400 people have come down with the disease in the past month in san diego county. 70 people also have the disease in santa cruz county. los angeles county is also affected. hepatitis a can be spread through unwashed hands and food as well as sharing needles. officials with the city of san francisco are working to increase vaccinations for adults. now... police in the east bay warning customers of possible fraud after several credit card skimmers were found at a gas station. police say they found six credit card skimmers at the valero on somersville road in antioch. investigators don't know how many people may have been affected. now police are warning people to check there credit card statements and bank accounts to make sure they have not been targeted. if you see any purchases that you didn't authorize, you're asked to report them to the antioch police. ( darya ) the search is on for the gunmen who robbed a family in union city. it happened sunday night on washington avenue when the family was pulling up to their garage. two people armed with handguns demanded money and other valuables from the three victims. police do not have a description of the thieves. ( mark ) his future is still uncertain... but for now a los angeles minister and his family are back together. noe carilas is originally from guatemala. he was detained two months ago and held for crossing the border illegally in the 90's and evading deportation orders. ice says carilas is a repeat immigration offender. he's been removed from the states three times. but his attorney says carilas had been checking in with ice for

and her two sons who were trapped on a capsized boat in the caribbean. the capsized boat washed up off the coast of puerto rico after being hit by 150 mile an hour winds. you can see the woman and her sons waving frantically for the helicopter to rescue them. a man who was also on the boat died before he could be rescued. ( darya ) the oakland museum of california will pay homage to the vicitms of the ghost ship fire which killed 36 people last december. the city's "day of the dead exhibit" will feature a sculpture of a ship which will have cards attached with the names of the 36 vicitms. members of the public will be invited to add their condolences. it's scheduled to open on october 18th at the museum on oak street in oakland. ( mark ) the city of san francisco says it will cover daca recipient's renewal fees. the city is paying the 495- dollar fee for recipients who need to renew their application before october

fifth. the money will come from the office of civic engagement and immigrant affairs. this saturday the city is holding a free informational workshop for daca recipients. it is at mission high school on 18-th street from one to five pm. the workshop will include legal assistance. ( darya ) happening today... the new i-phone 8 hits store shelves. it is being released 10 years after the original i-phone. this is video from earlier this morning from the san francisco store. employees were in early getting set-up...we did see one person in line waiting for the store to open. apple is releasing both the i-phone 8 and the i-phone plus today. they add wireless charging, new camera sensors and a faster processor. the i-phone 8 costs about 700 dollars. the plus is an extra hundred. you'll still have to wait for the much-anticpated i-phone ten. the i-phone ten -- which will cost about a thousand dollars -- will not be available until november.

( mark ) apple is admitting its latest smartwatch has a glitch just ahead of its official release. the "series three" apple watch is supposed to connect seamlessly to both cellular and wi-fi. but two recent reviews found the watch can have problems when it tries to connect to some public wi-fi networks. some networks often ask users to accept terms and conditions before connecting. but those messages may not appear on the watch... meaning users can't connect. no word yet on when a fix will be released. the watch starts shipping to customers today. ( darya ) tesla is denying claims that it tried to prevent employees from passing out union leaflets at it's fremont factory. the national labor relations board filed a complaint against tesla earlier this month citing multiple incidents at it's fremont assembly plant. some workers say that tesla's security guards refused to let them pass out leaflets about the united auto

multi-car crash blocked westbound traffic on i-80 near cisco grove. investigators say one driver was going too fast as hail was falling in the area, which caused a chain reaction crash. as many as 16 cars were involved in the pileup. several other drivers were injured as well. the pileup was below the snow line. but the chp believes the weather and possibly drivers going too fast contributed to the crash. ( darya ) a quick thinking bus driver saves elementary school students in missouri ... as a fire burns through their bus. the driver was taking the kids home when he noticed smoke -- that's when he pulled over and got the kids out. moments later the bus was on fire. but thanks to the driver's actions... no one was hurt.
