(vicki) political commentator milo yiannopolous says he is still planning to hold "free speech week," at u-c berkeley. this comes despite reports that the event this sunday might be canceled. this is video from violent protests back in february when he was scheduled to speak on campus. yiannopoulos says he plans to hold a news conference tomorrow to explain how the event will proceed. some of the headline speakers, including ann coulter, have backed away from the event or said their names were listed as speakers without their knowledge. school officials say they are preparing tight security on the assumption the event will go on. terisa estacio - imagine picking up your daughter at a bart station , and finding her upset and injured, that is what happened to one bay area family they were so upset they reached out to us to share their story. (estacio reporting) edgar paz. this was really unexpected, she was in shock. edgar paz is talking about this - this is a picture of his daughter - face swollen, and red. the picture taken after a man on bart struck her. paz. she was coming back from city college and the an walked up to her from behind and sucker punched her, no one helped her. she gathered up her belongings and tried to get a picture, of him. paz says when his daughter met up with her mom at the station she was not in good shape. paz. she was shooken up, crying, swelling the right side of her face. paz says he reached out to bart police immediately and was not impressed with their response - he says for right now, he doesn't want his daughter to go back on bart, he feels it is not safe. alicica troust. i tis out of the ordinary and disturbing for us. alicia

the victim faked a medical emergency and people rushed to help her.... that's when the attempted thief got off the train and took off. the search for her continues tonight... (grant) then - last monday... police say this man robbed a woman at gunpoint during the morning commute hours. officers say around 9:30 a-m... a train had just departed the hayward station when this man approached his victim. he pointed his gun at the victim - grabbed her purse, phone and other personal items - and then took off. police are now releasing these images - in hopes that someone who recognizes the suspects will call police. (vicki) mexican authorities have raised the death toll from tuesday's earthquake to 293...with more than half the fatalities in the capital..(grant) catherine heenan is here with an update....including the ongoing race to find survivors.. (catherine) mexico's navy says it has now rescued 115 people alive from the

rubble of buildings in mexico city...it's a huge ongoing effort - involving 13-hundred people. . and that death toll of 293 is expected to keep climbing.. with every passing minute the search for survivors becomes more urgent... hundreds of buildings were collapsed in the quake...and frantic people are still looking for relatives who could be trapped alive. we're also hearing more stories from survivors...incl uding a little girl who uding a little girl who talked about being in school when the quake hit. crews are also working around the clock in the mexican state of puebla.....where nearly 50 of the victims were killed. many buildings here were destroyed....

(vicki) as if puerto rico hasn't had enough to deal with...people living near a puerto rican dam are being evacuated after the dam failed earlier today... hurricane maria has gradually weakened...but the category three storm still drenched the islands of turks and caicos and the bahamas earlier today. here is new drone video showing the widespread damage to parts of puerto rico... the storm knocked out power to more than three-million people. authorities say it could take up to six months before everyone gets electricity back. the governor of puerto rico says at least 13 people died from the storm and that dozens are missing. he says their current focus is making sure people are safe and accounted for.

bubbles, was shot and killed on september 10th - outside of new century theater. the shooter is still on the loose. police say they have identified a possible person of interest but are still working the case. the march began not to long ago - at 5 pm... the group is demanding that police find the person responsible for bubbles death. (grant) two people had to be rescued after a fire started near lake merced park in san francisco. this is video of it... as kron four's lydia pantazes reports - crews had a difficult time putting out the flames because of where this fire started. this fire especially challenging because of where it was located on the seventh floor.two people had to be rescued from that apartment. (take map)the fire is located on the 1-hundred block of cambon drive. at about 5:35 firefighters got the call and were on scene at 5:40.the fire under control at 6:22the fire started on 7th floor of a 13 story building.the 1-unit where it started is completely damaged but there is smoke and fire damage to adjoining units above and below.the 2-people rescued.... we're rescued using the interior stairwell. the 6th, 7th, & 8th floor evacuated but the rest of the

(vicki) snow fell in the sierras on the last day of summer. this is video from heavenly and kirkwood resorts. the snow did cause problems on the roadways... sixteen cars crashed on i-80 yesterday....killing a man in a pickup truck and several other people suffered minor injuries. the snow hit parts of yosemite national park...briefly closing tioga pass road. park rangers are urging drivers to remain cautious after the road reopened.

great place, but we have a lot of crime in jack london square." the oakland police department says auto burglaries in the jack london square district are up 36-percent this year... compared to the same period last year. vehicle thefts are up 15-percent.victim- "and, it was very, very disturbing to come down from my garage and see my car on blocks." this tenant, who wants to remain private, rents an apartment at the landing at jack london square.... a gated community. he filed a report with the oakland police department sunday... after discovering all four of his car rims and tires were stolen. the tenant pays for a spot in his parking garage, which is monitored by surveillance cameras. but he says that doesn't appear to be scaring thieves away. victim- "which is a shame. it's an amazing place to live. i give this place a lot of credit, but the crime is an issue." the community manager for the landing at jack london square sent a letter out to all other tenants alerting them about the recent rise in thefts and telling people to be more aware of any suspicious

(vicki) happening now... police in the east bay warning customers of possible fraud after several credit card skimmers were found at a gas station. police say they found six credit card skimmers at the valero on somersville road in antioch. investigators don't know how many people may have been affected. now police are warning people to check there credit card statements and bank accounts to make sure they have not been targeted. if you see any purchases

(grant) the city of san francisco is stepping up efforts to prevent a hepatitis a outbreak. this comes after three outbreaks of the disease have been reported in three california counties including santa cruz county. more than 400 people have come down with the disease in the past month in san diego county. 70 people also have the disease in santa cruz county. los angeles county is also affected. hepatitis a can be spread through unwashed hands and food as well as sharing needles. officials with the city of san francisco are working to increase vaccinations for adults. (vicki) health experts are warning people traveling to mexico about possibly contaminated 7-up drinks. seven people people have been sick from the drink and one person has died. toxicologists have reported methamphetamine was found inside the contaminated drinks. those that have gotten sick from it have been in the mexicali area. officials

it was a ámomá .... emily says... who came after her... along with the woman's daughter.... both women.... dragging emily out of her car.. then pounding her face and body on the pavement.the mom grabbed me by my throat and started squeezing my neck. the daughter grabbed me by the back of my hair and started pulling. :31 when emily tried to fight back -- she says... they fought even harder. eventually, emily went unconscious. during those times, the daughter said, stop hitting my mom. quit hitting my mom. and then she hit me again. and, everything went black and i heard ringing. road when he got the shock of his life... he's telling reporters he still hasn't gotten over it. the man glanced over at a neighbor's driveway -- and saw this.what appeared to be a body lying near the garage, complete with bloody handprints.. he called 9-1-1 and sheriff's deputies came hustling over.. only to discover the home owner was getting ready for halloween a little early...and was planning a party. neighbor - i thought it was somebody, i thought it was somebody laying up there on the driveway. i told them what happened and they said we'll send somebody out to check it. homeowner - i said thank you guys for caring but i'm doing just fine. when the police came they pulled the boot off to make sure there wasn't a person in there. this was actually starting out as a joke, because when i have my halloween party, i was actually going to dress up under there after everyone's seen it for so long, and when they come out to get drinks or something, pop up out of the garage door and scare everybody. you can see why somebody was fooled....this is pretty convincing, especially from a distance.the 'body' is stuffed with paper and joseph says he used food coloring and hair

(pam) oakland's jack london square district, for so long, has been popular destination for tourists... and, known as a prime spot to live.(pam) now we are learning that auto thefts and burgalaries in that area are up....(steve) and, a tenant who lives in the neighborhood says, the problem has gotten out of control. so much so, that that person tells kron four's philippe djegal he is moving out. it's a story you will see only on four. (philippe) the contstant sight of broken car windows... shattered on the ground... has become too much for this tenant at the landing at jack london square.victim- 'anybody can walk up and down the street and see all the cars broken into at night, and that's a daily basis." he wants to remain private, but also get his story out there. after living here for the past five and a half years... he's decided to move out. this after all four of his car rims and tires were reported stolen sunday.victim- "and, in my own parking spot. in my garage." the community is gated and the
