(vicki) breaking news at san francisco internationally airport... where a san francisco police officer was attacked and stabbed. s-f-p-d tells us it happened in terminal one.(grant) they say officers were called for a suspicious person walking near the lower level curbside. when officers arrived they confronted a ma near the baggage claim. that man attacked the officer with a knife. he as arrested and is in custody tonight. the officer is being treated at the hospital.

(grant) in southern california... a massive fire is forcing hundreds of people to evacuate. the "canyon fire" as its known, is has spread across two counties...and has burned more than 25-hundred acres. firefighters have managed to keep it fire from destroying hundreds of homes. watching the fire burn within feet of their home last night... many locals packed up and left. others decided to stay...trying to help. (jim white/ neighbor): "they stood watch and said, you know, if embers starting flying, let's put them out and we did. so it was a joint effort."(shane poulter/ neighbor): "i want to thank the firefighters. man, there was hundreds of them up here and without them, i think a few homes in this neighborhood wouldn't be here today." santa ana winds are making it even more difficult for firefighters to get the flames under control. the canyon fire is only five percent contained. firefighters are on their way to southern california to help. these pictures were posted on the alameda county fire department's twitter account. firefighter from oakland, fremont and hayward are on their way down. they are bringing fire truck and supplies. (vicki) to the south bay now where a plume of smoke over east san jose had residents worriedthere might be a wild fire.(grant) but as kron four's rob fladeboe reports, the smoke was coming from a house fire that caused heavy damage. this was the scene just after 8 o'clock this morning as some 40 firefighters battled a 2-alarm fire at this home on chisin street, off nieman avenue in the city's evergreen district. no one was home and there were no injuries as smoke and flames poured from the eves and roof of the two-story home. joshua padron/san jose fire dept. ".....the fire made it's way up into the attic space and we had crews up on the roof and they were able to cut a hole

(catherine) the company's c-e-o is now gone.....out of a job. equifax has announced the sudden retirement of richard smith.... this - just three weeks after the company admitted to a major hack that exposed the sensitivepersonal information of as many as 143-million people and in a local twist -- san francisco today became the first city to sue equifax over that data breach. the lawsuit accuses the company of violating state law by failing to use reasonable

(grant) another big story we are tracking tonight... the family of the ohio man who died after being released from a north korean prison is speaking out. otto warmbier (warm-beer) was detained in north korea for more than a year for stealing a propaganda poster.(vicki) he died shortly after he was returned home. otto's parents say the 22-year-old university of virginia student was "jerking violently" when

he was returned. he was making unhuman-like sounds and staring blankly. otto's parents says they wanted to speak out after hearing north korea claiming to be a victim. (vicki) a couple's wedding photo session turned into a rescue mission when the groom jumped into a pond to save a little boy from drowning. (grant) and their wedding photographer captured everything... reporter tina yazdani has the story. clayton and brittany cook of cambridge, ont., had just tied the knot friday and were posing for their wedding photographer on a park bridge when the groom noticed a child in distress in the water below. "i look over and i see clay in the water and i think,

what is he doing?" brittany cook told ctv kitchener.her husband had jumped in to save a little boy who had gone in the water while playing in the park. the couple and the photographer said it appeared that another child pushed the boy into the water."his face was underwater and he was fighting, like he was really fighting," clayton cook said. "luckily, he was only a little guyand i honestly just sort of hopped him up."the boy appeared to be ok, and he didn't say a word after he was pulled out of the water, according to the couple. eventually, an older sibling took him away.the wedding photographer, darren hatt, captured the whole ordeal. two photos posted on his facebook page show clayton cook, nearly waist-up in water, pulling the drenched boy onto dry land."it was a commendable thing that he did and he sprung into action incredibly quick," hatt said of the groom. our coverage with kron 4's terisa estacio... she is in the oakland hills tonight. bcn33 -oakland hills fire (update on bcn30) oakland (bcn) a four-alarm grass fire in the oakland hills north of interstate highway 580 is 50 percent contained this afternoon, a cal fire spokeswoman said. the fire was first reported at 12:13 p.m. on a steep hillside near mountain boulevard and edwards avenue and prompted the evacuation of about 50 homes threatened by the fire. the homes are on bayview drive, skyview drive, ridgemont drive, viewcrest drive and the 13650 block of campus drive, oakland police said shortly after 1 p.m. merritt college at 12500 campus drive was also evacuated and classes have been canceled, according to the school's website. cal fire spokeswoman pam temmermand said shortly after 2 p.m. that the blaze is considered 50 percent contained but that the homes are no longer threatened since there are no active flames on the hillside. a couple of helicopters are continuing to drop water where needed and crews are "working on the left flank of the fire," temmermand said. she said crews will likely be at the scene for several hours. no injuries were reported in the

authorities say the driver lost control and drove off highway 101... the truck crashed through a chain-link fence.... smashing into at least five cars in the restaurant parking lot. six people were taken to the hospital... including a pregnant woman. two of them are in critical condition. ( catherine ) there was another protest today in berkeley... also more arrests. so far we know that these three people were taken into custody. the protest ended about 3-30 this afternoon. the group 'patriot prayer' announced plans to hold a demonstration today as part of the now canceled free speech week... about 100 people did show up. a thief is caught on surveillance video as he steals packages from a residential building in san francisco. cameras capture the moment he rings the buzzer claiming to be a ups delivery man. he is allowed in the building, where he begins to choose the boxes that he is going to steal. in a matter of minutes, he takes off on his bike with a number of packages. what he didn't realize, was that all of it was recorded.
