this is the car that is at the center of this standoff with authorities wednesday morning on 180. officials say it was early in the morning when fairfield officials alerted other agencies that they were looking for the driver in the vehicle for a homicide. that's when richmond police got involved. lt. felix tan. our officers say the suspect in our city and tried to stop, refused and pursuit continued on west bound 1 80. that is when the chp got involved. chp. we out out a strip to stop the car, and it crashed. officers then began to negotiate with the suspect. lt. felix tan we actually spent a lot of time trying to negotiate with suspect, but we came out shooting and we fired back and the suspect was struck. as for the absolute gridlock facing many motorists because of this exchange - officiers say it is unfortunate, but they say there first priority was public safety. lt. tan. we are sorry, but we need to consider safety. they will never forget.kron four's will tran and jeff pierce were first on the scene. will tran here in emeryville. if you need to go north or southbound on i-80 avoid it all costs.how long have you been here? about an hoursee there are people, they are not even bothering to sit in their cars. they're getting out. that young lady popped her trunk. she got some water, they are all just talking to each other. a lot of people are confused by exactly what happened.then the cop in front of me told me and a bunch of other people around here to get out of the car and to move behind the car. and as soon as i got out and got behind my truck, that's when they shot. he pulled a gun on them and fired a shot, and they fired back.gunfireit was really really dramatic. the guy was alive in the truck and he does not know he's goin' down after all these shots being fired. i don't know if he had a gun or not but he had both his hands out the window, so in my case i think it's, i don't know man, it seemed kinda funny that that happened.i don't see that as being unexpected when you shoot at a bunch of cops. i'm shockedi've never seen gunfire before. so i was nervous. yeah. i texted my boyfriend to tell him i loved him, just in case anything were to happen. you know you

(vicki) now on to another big story in san francisco... an out-of-control a-c transit bus slammed into at least two cars and another bus after exiting the bay bridge. (steve) the collisions happened just before 9-30 this morning on fremont street between harrison and howard streets. kron four's philippe djegal reports some people were injured. (philippe) nestled on the sidewalk, stopped by a utlity pole and a building under contsruction.... san francisco police say this is the ac transit bus that, just before 9-30 in the morning, started a chain of collisions

after it exited the bay bridge onto to fremont street.robert rueca/sfpd- "with that time of the morning, with people walking about, getting to and fro, uh, it's a miracle that no pedestrians were struck on the sidewalk." four people were injuried during the crash... including the driver who initiated the collision. they were all taken to hospitals... but the police department says those injuries don't appear to be life-threatening.robert rueca/sfpd- "we look at all avenues. at what may have caused this incident." the initial investigation shows that shortly after both the green and white ac transit buses exited the bridge... as the white bus attempted to make a right hand turn onto folsom street off fremont... the green bus, traveling behind it, lost control... ran into two cars ahead of it and then into the white bus before it veered onto the sidewalk.robert rueca/sfpd- "and, collided with a, a, building that's in construction," ac transit says it's unclear what caused the green bus to lose control. but that it will review surveillance video on both buses that captured the collisions. in san francisco, philippe djegal, kron four news.

(vicki) a few lanes of highway 24 in lafayette was shut down this morning for a couple hours... after a vehicle fatally struck a woman. it happened in the eastbound lanes of highway 24... near the on-ramp from pleasant hill road. police say a van... hit the woman who was walking in one of the right lanes of the highway. she was pronounced dead at the scene. chp officers have yet to identify her... the driver of the van... was uninjured and is cooperating with investigators. all lanes of highway 24 - were reopened around one this afternoon. (vicki) and to make matters worse for commuters this morning... a dog running around on bart tracks... caused major delays on bart. bart police say the dog was reported on the tracks at the coliseum station in oakland... at around 8 this morning. officers were able to remove the animal... but not before causing major

(vicki) fire crews responded to calls of several fires burning at san francisco's john mclaren park.... (steve) it happened shortly before noon... the park is located near john f. shelley drive and mansell street ... between city's excelsior district and visitacion valley neighborhoods. crews found a total of four fires... which were in separate locations within the park... about 3 acres were burned. the fires were contained about an hour later... and remain under investigation. no injuries or structure damage... were reported. (steve) the fire that broke out in the oakland hills north of i-580 yesterday - is mostly contained tonight.. this was the scene yesterday - as crews were using helicoptersand planes to drop water and fire retardant... early today they announced 80 percent containment....and hope to have the fire fully contained by 8 tonight.. a big development -- investigators think the fire began in an area on skyview drive where there's ongoing home construction. so they do 'not' believe this was a fire of suspicious origin. fire authorities say yesterday's fast response was critical in keepingthe flames to 22 acres....with no injuries or burned homes. deputy chief melinda drayton/oakland fire dept-- we don't wait anymore. we throw everything at it. we know how fast they move. we throw everything at it and we can always turn crews back. looking back at yesterday and how fast the fire took off, and how quickly we got resources here, we had an incredible coordinated effort yesterday. crews have stayed

10 pm curfew is costing them and the city of santa clara a lot of money that might be used to fund city services. back in may, the popular band u-2 blew past the ten pm deadline, irritating nearby residents who were promised that noise would be controlled and that concerts would end early on week nights. now, those residents will be given priority as thecity will conduct an on-line survey about noise, traffic, parking and whether that curfew should be extended perhaps by one hour. i cruised around the neighborhoods closet to the stadium and conducted a survey of my own this afternoon. here are a few of the responses. primary is happening three months earlier than it was during the 20-16 election. governor jerry brown signed legislation today to move up the primary from june to march in 20-20. supporters of the change want to give the state more influence in choosing the republican and democratic nominees. california awards the most delegates in the nominating contests. the primary is happening on the first tuesday in march....that means it likely falls on "super tuesday," when multiple states hold primaries. (vicki) fire crews are battling a wildfire that forced the evacuation of several dorms at cal poly san louis obispo. the fire has burned 95-acres and is 60- percent contained tonight. it started yesterday afternoon. firefighters say fortunately the wind blew the fire away from cal poly. their priority is working through steep, rough terrain to put out hotspots. some students say they are not surprised that the fire started yesterday.

baltimore last night -- was forcibly dragged off the flight...(steve) catherine heenan is here with more on what happened....and how the airline is responding.... it's been awhile since someone was dragged off a flight.... but if you thought airlines had figured out a better way to resolve these dramas - you're wrong. this was the scene on a southwest flight set to leave baltimore airport last night...headed for los angeles. the woman being dragged off by police had complained that she had life-threatening allergies to dogs...and there were two of them nearby. one was a passenger's support dog. when told the dogs wouldn't be removed -- she reportedly asked for an injection for her symptoms.but was told no again. southwest says she didn't have the required medical certificate. police then moved in - and of course, other passengers were recording what happened. woman - what are you doing? what are you doing? you ripped my pants.don't touch me - i'll walk off. passengers - she's walking - she's walking. officer -- then walk!!! you can hear

(pam) and i'm pam moore. all lanes on the freeway re- opened just about an hour ago. you saw that live here on kron four. for those of you not familiar with interstate- 80 ... this map gives you an idea of the location. the shootout happened right in the area known as the macarthur maze ... close to the bay bridge. kron 4's terisa estacio joins us live from emeryville tonight... she has information about what led up to this deadly shootout ... as well as the suspect. a standoff with a homicide suspect snarls traffic tying it up for hours - right now, 10 hours after the intial pursuit and crash occurred, bay area motorists are still suffering from the effects of this - at this hour, we are learning more information about the suspect and hearing from eye witnesses to the violent confrontation between the suspect and officers - that confrontation that ultimately lead to the suspect dying. kron four's terisa estatcio has been following this story throughout the day for us tracking down

information, she joins us live from i80 with more details.. including when the freeway may re-open. raiden brenner, witness antwaun king, witness lt. felix tan, richmond pddan seaman, chpchief jennifer tejada, emeryville the effects of this standoff profound. one man is dead. and bay area traffic at a standstill for thousands of motorists. it all started around 8am when fairfield authorities sounded the alarm that they were looking for a homicide suspect - that ultimately lead to a pursuit and a shootout on the freeway in front of commuters. (estacio reporting) i saw it happen - raiden brenner was driving in the morning commute just past the maze when traffic came to a standstill then a standoff and shoot off between law enforcement and the driver in this black suv unfolded right in front of him. police asked him to get out, he did not but then did and he fired, and they fired.

antwaun king. they fired, 30-40 rounds. it was dramatic. éantwaun king also was an eye witness. king. it was dramatic. brenner. it was sad. the suspect was later pronounced dead - the standoff initally started as a pursuit, after richmond police were notified by fairfield police that a man wanted in a 2015 murder was in their city. lt. felix tan. we tried to stop him. but he drove off to west bound 180. that is when chp became involved - chp. we put down the stripe and it stopped, then he crashed. and that is how the standoff came to be - between officers and the suspect. negotionations took place, but in the end shots were fired, and the suspect died. authorities say because of the dynamics of the shooting, west bound 180 had to be shut down for hours. chief jennifer tejada, emeryville - we had to collect evidence. (estacio) there is no word on the name of the suspect, only a mention of the victim and again, it was a 2015 case, the victim. xyz. here in emeryville - a pursuit, standoff and shooting leads to one person dead, and a massive traffic tie up here's what happened. ealy this morning, richmond police were notified that at murder suspect from fairfield was in their city. oifficer attempted to stop the person, but he took off to west bound i80 chp put down a strip and the driver crazed near the maze. officers attempted to talk the driver out, but they say he stated shooting and they fatally wounded him. after nearly 8 hours, i80 was finally reopened. the investigation continues.

yosemite... and one of the most iconic features of the park. yosemite officials say, the park remains open to visitors. ( steve ) investigators are looking into multiple fires tonight at a popular san francisco park. the first fire started just before 12 p-m at mclaren park. the park is in between the city's excelsior district and visitacion valley neighborhoods . it is near mansell street. when firefighters arrived... they discovered there wasn't one fire... but at least three burning at different locations within the park. about three acres burned and no one was hurt and no buildings damaged. kron 4 is looking into whether they may a fire bug at work... we will have more on this story tonight on kron four news at eight. (pam) fire crews are monitoring hotspots from that fire which broke out in the oakland hills. the first started yesterday afternoon, north of interstate 5-80 .. it threatened homes nearby. it burned 22 acres and is now 80-percent contained. crews hope to have the fire fully contained by 8:00
