others have not and that critics say is because these cases were like a house of cards, destined to fall apart. (estacio - pkg) michael cordoza, defense atty. "shame on them for not knowing what these cases were about." i spoke with defense attorney and former prosecutor michael cordoza about the charges against all of those oakland police officer ensarled in that sex scandal, involving this woman - celeste guap, whose real name is jasmine abuslin. cordoza. there was a lot of pounding of tables, a lot of outrage, but it did not pan out to be. abuslin has revealed that when she was underaged, she had sex with many oakalnd officers. in addition, she says some her tipped to stings so she could avoid being arrested. the scandal broke out after a police officer committed suicide and left behind a note talking about his affair with abuslin and mentioned other officers as well as other bay area law enforcment officials she had sexual relations with. oakland discplined and fired several officers, and the alameda county district attorney's office announced charges against 7 officers. of those seven - brian bunton shown here - his case was recently dismissed, dan black plead no contest, but his case will be dismissed in a year, and this man ryan walterhouse, his case was dismissed as well recently, but charges were then refiled. cardoza who represents walterhouse was with his client on friday - and is pushing to get it

dismissed for good. cardoza. it is sad, they should have vetted these cases more thoroughly. oakland although critized, disciplined the officers, why was that not good enough, why did they have to prosecute, it was wrong and political. john burris. these were not political. this woman was wronged, crimianly burris who represents abuslin in her civil suits. she recently settled for nearly a million dollars agianst the city of oakland.burris. if they commit a crime, then they must be held accountable just like anyone else. and the alameda county da stands behind it's charges.. saying this about bunton case that was dismissed and the others.. quote (estacio - live - oakland) cases still going forward, including h (grant) a rohnert park mom charged with the drowning deaths of her two young daughters - after crashing her vehicle into the petaluma river - is out of jail tonight. we are also learning that the mother had meth in her system at the time of the crash. today a

judge approved the release of alejandra hernandez-ruiz...who apparently has an aggressive form of cancer...and needs treatment. the crash was in august of 2016 - when she drove her car down an embankment... into the petaluma river hernandez- ruiz pleaded not guilty to several charges including gross vehicular manslaughter and driving without a license. tests revealed she had meth and marijuana in her system - but not at levels considered impairment. she is not being charged with d-u-i, but she is banned from driving, and is due back in court next month. (grant) new details are emerging in the disturbing case of a south bay probation officer... accused of engaging in sex acts with two boys she was supposed to be looking after. as kron four's rob fladeboe reports now, tricia caparra... was in court to face allegations she had sex with the boys at least 23 times while they were encarcerated.

rob fladeboe/san joae"....the probation officer whose alleged sexual misconduct was described by her superiors as appalling will likely remain behind bars for at least two weeks until she returns to court to enter a formal plea. no cameras were permitted inside department 23 this as she was arraigned but this is the mug shot of 36 year old tricia caparra of santa cruz. she was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of having sex with two under age boys at the james ranch juvenile detention facility in morgan hill. in a statement of facts, the district attorney says that caparra engaged in sex acts with one of the boys at least three times at and away from the ranch. she is alleged to have had sexual intercourse with the second victim, who was 18 and a ward of the court of the time, on at least 20 different occasions. here is deputy district attorney michael gilman.michael gilman/dep. dist. attorney "....the people are very concerned about this case because she she was in a position of trust and that by having relations with these two boys she violated that trust..."caparra is charged with 14 felonies, one for allegedly accessing probation department records to find out when one of the boys was due to be drug tested. the d.a. asked for bail to be set at a million dollars but the judge decided to set it at $655,000. the court also demanded that caparra forfeit her passport because she is considered a flight risk. in san jose rob fladeboe mron 4 news (catherine) (catherine)

have arrested a 15-year-old boy. they say he attacked and groped a woman on a jogging path. this is a sketch... that officers originally released after the incident. it happeend in pickle-weed park and near a target store back in june. police say a 46-year-old woman was grabbed at least three times. she fought back and was able to escape. he was arrested on suspicion of sexual battery. (catherine) happening now... police are searching for the gunman who shot and killed a man at a san jose apartment. (grant) it happened last night around 9... at the apartment complex. kron four's lydia pantazas has more now on what happened. those steps behind me lead directly to the apartment where this happened.police have confirmed that they are investigating this as a possible home invasion robbery. that is just one of the motives they are looking into. (catherine) governor brown today signed a package of housing bills....saying they're a step forwardin doing something about the statewide housing crisis... the bills include ways to raise more money for housing....and to speed up stalled construction projects. supporters say it's the biggest housing policy move in years... the governor says the money provided by the bundle of bills is expected to create about 90-thousand affordable units in the next seven to 10 years. it hasn't been easy....but he says california is rising to the challenge. governor brown - plenty of paradox. plenty of complexity. but you can be sure you have 15 good bills. yes - they're

(catherine) the state department is ordering non- essential diplomats and their families to leave cuba... this - after a string of mysterious sonic attacks. the incidents began in november and affected at least 21 u-s diplomats and family members. some suffered long lasting symptoms and at least one person has permanent hearing loss. a senior u-s official says there have been as many as 50 attacks - with the most recent happeningjust last month. the devices used were never found...but it's believed that a type of sonic weapon that emitted dangerous sound waves was used. among the options now being considered - closing the embassy altogether. cuba's government is denying any involvement in the sonic attacks. bart officials are telling riders to expect a 20 to 30 minute delay. (grant) and people who use caltrain will be paying more to ride starting sunday. riders will pay an additional 25 cents for each zone. the eight-ride tickets will no longer be available. monthly parking passes will also cost you more. going from 55 dollars to 82-dollars and 50-cents. daily parking fees will stay the same. train schedules are also changing. caltrain officials say the new schedule will increase efficiency. (catherine) add another company to the list. whole foods is reporting a credit card breach that could affect its customers. the company says hackers got access to credit card information for customers at some of its in-store restaurants and tap rooms. investigators say hackers targeted the machines where you swipe or insert your credit card. whole foods isn't saying exactly which places were targeted or how many customers might be involved. the f-b-i has been contacted and is investigating. (grant) and we just learned that police have arrested a student - tied to last week's bomb threat. police say the 17-year-old left a message on the school's anonymous tip line. he was taken into custody and has been charged with making terrorist threats and making a bomb threat. officers say they have not found any evidence linking this student to yesterday's shooting threat. (catherine) police are evacuating a los angeles-area neighborhood after dozens of military weapons and explosives were found in a backyard. photos from the l.a. county sheriffs department show some of the 30 military weapons already removed. some were found to be active. a bomb disposal unit was brought in.... the sheriffs department says neighbors called them last night about a suspicious couple in a car in front of a vacant house. police took one man into custody...and say that he had taken a gun from the home.... he then told officers about the weapons in plain sight in

(steve) police arrested a 15-year-old boy accused of attacking a woman on a san rafael jogging path back in june. this is a sketch that police originally released after the incident. it happeend in pickleweed park and near a target store. police say a 46-year-old woman was grabbed at least three times. she fought back and was able to escape. the teen arrested lives in the neighborhood of the incident. he was arrested on suspicion of sexual battery. (grant) prosecutors say alejandra hernandez-ruiz had methampetamine and marijuana in her system at the time of the crash. she drove off an embankment and into petaluma river in august of last year. her seven- year-old and nine-year-old daughters drowned after the crash. hernandez-ruiz pleaded ánot guilty to several charges including gross vehicular manslaughter and driving without a license. tests revealed drugs in her system were not at a level considered impairment and she is not being charged with driving under the influence. she has been banned from driving and due back in court next month. and now this wrinkle...we've learned hernandez-ruiz is being treated for cancer. (pam) a former santa clara county probation counselor ... accused of having sex with two teenage boys... made her first appearance in court today. 36-year-old tricia caparra was charged with 14- felonies. police say, she sexually assaulted the two

teens at a santa clara county juvenile correctional facility. her bail is set at 655- thousand dollars. caparra is set to make a formal plea on october 18th. police are investigating a graffiti message stating that there would be a shooting at a high school in larkspur today. there was an increased police prescense on campus at redwood high school. the grafitti was found in one of the girl's bathrooms yesterday afternoon. last week the school had a bomb threat that forced students to evacuate...one person has been arrested in that incident. they have also been dealing with a rash of car break-ins. many students who showed up today say it was a family decision for them to be there.

immigration officials say that agents arrested 27 allegedly undocumented immigrants in san francisco and santa clara county. it was during a four day operation that ended on wednesday. 23 of those arrested had previous criminal convictions for offenses including driving under the influence, drug trafficking and assault. ice said it targeted those areas because they are so-called "sanctuary cities" that do not honor ice detainers...those are requests by ice to local authorities to hold a person for two more
