(grant) there were dozens of people from the bay area... who attended last night's festival in vegas... and they are just now returning home. during the concert in las vegas - he shared his story about he, his wife and daughter survived the gunmans rampage. dominguez. we got up, if he had not we would have been shot. there was a lot of people hit, one person arm ripped off, right open, it was a nightmare. denise bartlett. itg was crazy, all of a suddent fire craxckers, people started screaming, there were people crawling all over, running scared. as passenger after passenger arrived at oakland airport, they all looked devastated. many too upset to talk, they just wanted to hug their loved ones yet others find it cathartic to share what they say. david fox. survivor. we were in the front of stage when the shooting began, bullets hit the stage and jason aldean ran, the bodies went down, it was the most horrific i have ever see, witness. my wife and i very fortunate to make it out of there. mike it was a long long night, not much sleep, pretty scare stuff, like a war zone in there, for mike and his wife nicole - they couldn't help think of their young children at home. mike.

(vicki) in the grips of a housing crisis san jose's mayor has plans to build several thousand new homes. mayor sam liccardo held a press conference earlier today..to discuss the big proposal. liccardo's goal is to have 25 thousand housing units built...in just five years. the mayor wants 10 thousand of those units to be affordable ...which he admits is a tough task in silicon valley...where million dollar homes... have become the norm. ( catherine ) stephen paddock's father was once on the f-b-i's most wanted list. this is the poster that went up. he escaped from a texas prison in the 1960's while serving time for a series of bank robberies. the f-b-i caught up to him in 1978 in oregon where he was running a bingo parlor. he was returned to prison but got out a year later and kept the bingo operation going. it was shut down in 1987 - after he was charged with racketeering. ( catherine ) there's a great deal of concern tonight in the bay area..that's because we're hearing many stories of people being at the concert or visiting nearby for some other reason.( steve ) kron 4's spencer blake just arrived in las vegas a short time ago... spencer... what is the mood like right now... we understand you are not far from the shooting happened.

throughout the day - concert goers returned home to the bay area. (catherine) many had stories to share about how they had survived the gunman's rampage. kron four's terisa estacio talked with some of them as they returned - and joins us live from the airport. - you could just see it in their eyes so many passengers arrived here at oakland airport in a state of shock. for some this had been a family affair, mothers and daughters going together to have some fun. couples as well. now, many tell me they are grateful they made it back alive. our breaking news tonight -- the music festival massacre in las vegas that has left dozens of people dead... including the gunman. with all the chaos... police faced a difficult situation in trying to find the shooter. (2-catherine) despite their training for just such a scenario -- there wasn't much police could do until they got inside the hotel.( steve ) even then, it would be a difficult task to get at the gunman in his 32nd floor hotel room. so says a former bay area swat team member who spoke with kron four's rob fladeboe. ( grant ) we are following breaking news out of las vegas where at least 59 people are dead and more than 500 others injured after a gunman opened fire on a crowd at country music festival on the strip late last night. investigators are going through the suspect's home right now in mesquite, nevada. it is to the northwest of las vegas right near the arizona border. he's said to own the 400- thouand dollar home, which is in a retirement community. police found 17 guns, some of them fully automatic in his mandalay bay hotel room from which he opened fire. they also found guns inside that home, as well as several thousand rounds of ammo. authorities located bomb making materials in his car. the suspect's brother lives florida... he spoke to the media earlier today and was at a loss for words.
