(vicki) and tonight, we are learning about the final moments of a bay area woman who was killed during sunday night's tragedy. 32-year-old michelle vo... was attending the route 91 harvest country music festival when she was shot and killed. her older sister says michelle was a new fan of country music... and decided to attend her first country music festival on her own. that's where she met kody robertson from columbus, ohio. robertson says he stuck by michelle's side all the way to the end... even waiting for her family to arrive in vegas to give them the news. "the second round of shots came... she had you in her last moments she wasn't along, you didn't leave her"(vicki) michelle vo graduated

from independence high school in san jose.. before studying at u-c davis. she worked at synopsis in mountain view for four years... before

moving to southern california. (steve) and friends and family members are mourning the loss of stacee etcheber. stacee, a mother and the wife of a san francisco police officer, died during the vegas massacre. she was with her husband vinnie at the concert when the shooter opened fire. the two were separated during the chaos. vinnie told stacee to run as he was trying to help other victims. last night, hundreds of people attended a vigil held in novato. stacee leaves behind a ten-year-old son and a thirteen-year-old daughter. a go-fund-me page has been setup, to help raise money for stacee's family... it has raised more than 160-thousand dollars. take a look. two suspects entered the starbucks store on blanding avenuepolice say they attempted to steal a laptop ...but failed. 10 minutes laterthe duo walked inside another starbucks...this one on park street. there they each stole seperate laptops...before running away on foot. both suspects are described as black men around 20 years old in age. one was wearing a black beanie cap...a blue shirt ..and blue jeans. the other wore a black hoodie sweatshirt and black jeans. (vicki) car break-ins and property crimes are an increasing problem in san francisco.(grant) today... san francisco's police chief and two supervisors announced their latest plans to combat the problem. police have already doubled the number of officers on foot patrol this year... but say it's not enough. police chief scott along with supervisors ronen and yee today revealing their vision to prevent those crimes. the vision includes creating a new crime strategies unit to better identify serial crimes. (hillary ronen/district 9 supervisor): "i have the confidence in our police chief that he's going to implement this vision that he has not been implemented in this city for many years. the change is happening right now." property crimes in san francisco climbed more than 30% in 2015 compared to the previous year. city officials say enough is enough.

(vicki) it's a community facility not a correctional institution. so say the proponents of a pilot program in the south bay that provides an alternative to jailing and prosecuting intoxicated individuals. kron four's rob fladeboe takes a look at santa cara county's new sobering center insan jose. until today, people who are picked up for being drunk in public end up here, in the already over crowded county jail. but now, if not suspected or connected with a crime, they might end up here at the mission street sobering center where they can do just that, get sober and some help into the bargain.toni tullies/behavioral health services"...currently, what often happens is the police often pick them up and take them to the emergency room, depending on their behavior this would allow them to avoid jail, avoid emergency services and just get what they need...."what they need, at least for starters, is a place to sleep it off. here, public enebriates can get something to eat, get sober and be assessed regarding their mental health status, and get referred to treatment services as needed. toni tullies "....hot tea, something to eat and drink, hot showers,a real

illinois is making a memorial for the victims of the vegas shooting. greg zanis is making 58 wooden crosses... one for each victim. he then will drive the crosses to las vegas to set up a memorial. he has been making wooden crosses for memorials for the past 20 years. he says for this memorial each cross will have a heart attached to it with the names and pictures of each victim. he says he will need about 200 feet of space for the memorial. and before we turn our eyes to the sky for the blue angels... high school bands will take the stage to compete in the battle of the bands. kron-4's jeff pierce takes us to one east bay school---that got the coveted invitation and will compete for the first time. nat sound marching practicethe california high school marching band in san ramone has been practicing their performance with an additional fervor this week.you want to stand big, you want to have your elbows separated. you don't want your upper body to support your elbows.for the first time the award winning music program at cal high has been selected to compete in fleet week's battle of the bands in golden gate park. they will compete against seven other bay area high school bands. it is a covetted invitation that band director kent johnson has long hoped to bring to his program. yet most of his students were unaware of just what that invitation meant.it was a dream but i never talked to about with the kids because i didn't want them to get excited about something and the we not attend.when our band director told us that we were actually a band that got selected few of us knew just what that was. the band's surprise at being selected was met with their delight.i think it was amazing that cal high was selected to

be in this event and i think we deserve it because we have been working so hard.i never thought that i could be on such a stage that i would have a few thousand people watching me.for those seniors this serves as a touch stone for their years in the band.it's my last year here and i think it's a great opportunity for me to leave with.band members have embraced the challenge with a youthful enthusiasm as they face the competition.just being selected that was just one battle to get over. we're just going to keep out sense of togetherness and hope it gets us over this other battle. for a band director, giving them the opportuniy was reward in itself.to be able to give something to my kids and give them an experience that we may never have again.at california high school in san ramone jeff pierce kron four news. in las vegas just wrapped up...revealing new information about the gunman behind the deadlies mass shooting in u-s history. good evening i'm steve aveson.(catherine) and i'm catherine heenan. we just learned in the last 30 minutes that stephen paddock also rented a room in las vegas around the same time as an alternative music festival held on september 22nd to 24th. authorities say he had 16- hundred rounds of ammunition

and several containers of an explosive commonly used in target shooting...he had about 50 pounds of it in his car. police don't know what he was planning with the explosives. for the festival last month...paddock rented a room through air-b-n-b at a hotel in las vegas...but police do not know why. (catherine) authorities say paddock

set up cameras in the peeophole of the door outside the room to watch for police closing in on him. the first shots began at 10:05 sunday night...and ended 10 minutes later. (steve) we're also hearing from people in the bay area who survived sunday's shooting. two couples celebrating wedding anniversaries were there... they're sharing their stories about how they survived....and what got them through the harrowing experience. (catherine) kron four's terisa estacio joins us from fremont with their stories. (estacio - one of the members of this group i spoke with today is a fire fighter earlier this afternoon, i sat down with fire fighter david eastin and his wife and friends they told me they started planning back in may to celebrate their wedding aniversiares together.. but never did they think this would happen. this is the happy group a short time before the gun fire started raining down on them -

killing and injuring people so close to them. britni eastin. we like to do things together, but this i never thought would be one of them. the couples have been friends for awhile. their anniversaires days apart. they both hae children the same ages. also along that night was jacquelines brother who had begged to tag along as you can hear and see in this video - as shots ran out, people were running wildly. the couples got separated, but were both determined to make it out alive. david easton. we just ran. jacqueline. we did what ever we could, i saw people falling, smoke rising from the bullets. now sitting together they are trying to take it all in and deal with the trauma of it all. but a feeling of gratitude is something they all are embracing. we all feel lucky and fortunate. they say not going to busy places for awhile. they say not going to busy places for awhile.

(steve) we are learning new information about the shooter and his girlfriend... marlou danley said in a statement that she knew stephen paddock as a "kind, caring and quiet man." her lawyer read the statement in los angeles...where she was questioned by f-b-i agents about paddock earlier today. danley's lawyer says paddock found her a cheap ticket to the philippines and wanted her to take a trip home to see relatives. the statement says she was worried that paddock wanted to end the relationship. danley's sisters say the trip was no accident. (steve) investigators say paddock

recently wired one-hundred thousand dollars to the philippines. (catherine) we're learning new information about the final moments of a bay area woman who was killed during sunday night's shooting. 32-year-old michelle vo... was attending the route 91 harvest country music festival when she was shot.. her older sister says michelle was a new fan of country music... and decided to attend her first country music festival on her own. that's where she met kody robertson from columbus, ohio. robertson says he stuck by michelle's side all the way to the end... even waiting for her family to arrive in vegas to give them the news.

with her being there by herself and her not having any information or being id'd in any type of way, i had to find a way to get to her, to find her and let somebody know that -- to be there. oh, kody, i do want to say -- robertson: thank you.i know we met there. i'm so thankful that you stayed behind and waited for us. i know you had a flight and you're flying out and you delayed it. that brings us so much comfort, you know, to know that she had you in her last moment. she wasn't alone. you didn't leave her. it gives me a little bit of comfort. and, you know, you didn't leave the family. you didn't leave us. you picked up the phone, you got our calls, you (inaudible). you were there to tell us about here last moments. so, whenever we tell our story, we won't be able to our story without telling your story also>(catherine) michelle vo graduated

started firing into the crowd of concertgoers...an iraq war veteran thought on his feet. taylor wiston saw a truck with the keys still inside in a lot near the venue and did not hestiate to jump into action. he began loading up the truck and pulling people out of the venue. training helped him through the incident and keep a cool head. he says some of his friends reached out to him saying that he saved their family members and friends. (steve) a man from philadelphia who survived the shooting is being credited with saving several people. (catherine) financial planner mike mcgarry is a country music fan and was at the jason aldean concert with his wife. when the gunfire started, he jumped into action...lying on top of of younger people, using his body to protect them from any bullets.

(catherine) authorities say this kind of fire power is legal and that you can fire these weapons as quickly as you can pull the trigger. the las vegas shooter might have used a modification called a slide stock...which is also legal. according to the manufacturer's video - it's easy to assemble - and turns a semi-automatic rifle into a fully automatic weapon. a former a-t-f agent calls it a "work around" of the gun laws...not a loophole.

life during the nine years he spent behind bars. the 70-year-old is the same ole juice. simpson spoke with reporters while the car he was riding was refueling at a gas station. he say's nothing has changed...and that his destination..was none of the reporter's business. simpson was wearing the same denim outfit he was pictured in while leaving the nevada prison on parole sunday. he is one parole for a 2008 armed robbery and kidnapping case. no word if o.j. bought that i-phone... he longed for behind bars. (catherine) a catholic priest will spend three years in jail for stealing one-point-four million dollars in church donations. father hien minh nguyen deposited 14 donation checks from parishioners into his personal bank account. he also used donations to pay for his personal expenses. nguyen was convicted in march on bank fraud charges. he pleaded guilty last year to tax evasion charges. nguyen will pay nearly two million dollars in restitution to the diocese of san jose. mental health treatment. it was needed because many inebriated people are homeless or mentally ill... they often end up in jails or emergency rooms. the sobering center is expected to eliminate unnecessary paramedic trips and beds in emergency rooms. it will be open around the clock - seven days a week.
