(vicki) we're learning more about some of the victims. stacee etcheber of novato was one of the 58 people killed.(grant) the mother of two young kids was at the festival with her husband vinny, who's a san francisco police officer. reporter mike mangas spoke to etcheber's parents about their loss. natsgreg and linda rodriguez just got back from a trip they would give anything not to have had to take.their daughter... stacee etcheber... was one of the 59 people killed.stacee lived in novato... in the bay area... with her son and daughter and her husband vinnie... a san francisco police officer.her parents went through quite a roller coaster ride as they tried to find stacee in las vegas.after checking all the hospitals... vinnie reluctantly went to the morgue. greg rodriguez/victim's father:

"he was able to get in to, personally get in to the coroner's office. there was one jane doe left, he went and described her, told her about the tattoo on her neck. guy went back, came back, says 'no, she's not here.' so a lot of relief went in there, so but we had exhausted all the efforts. we were up to almost midnight going from hospital to hospital. and then vinnie not wanting to do it said, 'get me back into the coroner's office' and we went back to the coroner's office. we went in to the office with the lady, sat down. lady said describe her. he said she has long brown hair, she has this tattoo of this creature on her back from a storybook."linda rodriguez/victim's mother: "where the wild things are..." greg rodriguez/victim's father: "and the lady put her pen down and said i'll be right back. she knew. she knew. she went back. she came back with a picture of stacee and it was just-- it's heart-wrenching, it was really, really heart- wrenching."

(vicki) a big story we are following tonight... governor jerry brown signed legislation today making california a "sanctuary state." the bill bars police from asking california residents about their immigration status. it also prohibits authorities from participating in federal immigration enforcement activities. the legislation goes into effect january first. there are more than two- million people living in california illegally. the legislation was introduced in response to widespread fear in immigrant communities following president trump's election. (grant) police in los angeles arrested a group of daca protestors this morning. authorities say the marchers set up metal platform... shutting down an intersection. the demonstration blocked traffic on the city's west side. police arrested the handful of people for unlawful assembly. other demonstrators then lined the sidewalks holding signs and chanting. today is the last day to renew work permits under daca. (grant) governor jerry brown has signed into law a package

of measures designed to help protect daca recipients and other undocumented people from president trump's promised crack down on illegal immigration. kron four's rob fladeboe is live at san jose state university with details on how one of those measures will offer some protection to students. rob? (grant) san francisco police are investigationg a mob-style assault and robbery that happened at dolores park. a 17-year-old man was at the popular park when a group of about 12 suspects approached him sometime between two and six p.m. the suspects assaulted the victimtook his propertyand ran away in unknown directions. the thieves made off with the victim's cell phonewallet with cashand his belt. the ages of the suspects are unknown. (vicki) a former middle school teacher accused of having a relationship with a student has plead no contest. heather butts was seen kissing one of her students last year. the student admitted to kissing the teacher... saying they were in love. butts was arrested for lewd acts with a minor. prosecutors say butts contacted the student after her arraignment against court order. butts pleaded no contest to felony charges of lewd acts with a minor yesterday. she faces nine-months in jail when she returns to court for sentencing next month. (grant) broken curfew... last night, coldplay concert at levi's stadium went about an hour past the city-imposed

(vicki) and, now it's possible the popular band and the san francisco 49ers, who manage the facility, could be fined. kron four's philippe djegal spoke with neighbors who live near the stadium for their reactions to coldplay going long. (philippe) miguel alvarez lives behind levi's stadium... and, definitely heard the coldplay concert wednesday night.miguel alvarez/neighbor- "it was loud." although he says the noise did no't prevent him or his wife from falling asleep... he says it wasn't pleasant either. miguel alvarez- "we were waiting for them to stop at 10, but they didn't (philippe) would you have preferred that they stop at 10? (miguel) yeah, because it was loud last night -- it was pretty loud." last month, coldplay was denied an extension of the city of santa clara's 10 o'clock weeknight curfew. still, their event went about an hour long. ashley cow lives next to miguel alvarez, and says the late show didn't

(vicki) a group of conservative students at u-c berkeley has filed a civil rights complaint with the department of justice. students say they were forced to cancel "free speech week" after the chancellor indicated she was launching a hate crime investigation. the announcement came in an email after the students distributed flyers for the event. students say they canceled the event in fear of become the subject of a criminal investigation. a university spokes person say the chancellor was announcing police were investigating if any crimes were committed. the students believe their first amendment rights were violated. rock fall in yosemite... says she is recovering. lucy foster's family says she'll return home to the united kingdom once the hospital's trauma team clears her. she and her husband, andrew foster, had climbed el capitan and were at the foot of the popular rock formation... when a chunk of granite broke free and plunged to the ground. witnesses say they saw andrew running back to the rock fall to protect his wife... and that he died while shielding her. there was a second rock fall from el capitan the following day ... that injured one person. there are about 80 rock-falls reported each year at yosemite...but the vast majority do not fall near people. (grant) on the peninsula. after years of legal battles ...the billionaire who owns martins beach near half moon bay... finally granted public access to the beach. the venture capitalist purchased the 53-acre property back in 2008. he then

(vicki) big news for big sur... a bridge that was damaged by landslides is set to reopen next week. the pfeiffer canyon bridge on highway one will reopen on friday the 13th. caltrans says crews working around the clock to finish the work. the 24-million dollar bridge replaces one that was damaged by a slide eight months ago. that bridge was demolished in march. attending the route 91 music festival. his mom took his sister to the bathroom... leaving aden with his aunt... when the gunman opened fire. as people began to run... the 5-year-old became separated from his aunt. concertgoer, lindsey rogers... saw aden standing alone. she says she did what anyone would've done, she helped. lindsey rogers "he was really brave and really good. he didn't cry or anything. i think he was just confused." lindsey and her friends took a picture of aden for facebook and let the internet do the work. it didn't take long before relatives to saw the post. aden is back with his mom - and everyone in their family made it out alive. (grant) dynacraft is the truck's manufacture and they issued a recall earlier this year for a problem with the truck's acceleration pedal that could cause crashes. the recall did not mention any potential problems with the toy bursting into flames. (vicki) an antibiotic- resistant infection that started at a pet store, is spreading to even more people. the outbreak of campylo- bacteriosis was traced back to puppies sold through the petland chain starting back in 2015. now 55 people in 12 states have gotten sick. according to the c-d-c, the infection can cause diarrhea, abdominal pain and fever. while some strands are drug resistant, most patients can recover on their own. the c-d-c says if you think you may be at risk, contact your doctor immediately.

(grant) stephen paddock may have scouted locations in other cities for an attack. investigators say he booked rooms at a luxary hotel in chicago overlooking the lollapalooza music festival.. take a look at this.... you can see the black stone hotel....which is just across the street from the music festival. investigators say he also scoped out another music festival in las vegas and possibly fenway park in boston before setting up his casino sniper's perch. security experts in chicago talked about the importance of what stopped a potential shooting in the city.

(grant) officials are also looking into the possibility that paddock was planning a car bombing. investigators found fertilizer that can be used to make a make explosives and 50-pounds of an explosive substance in his car. paddock killed himself after shooting into a concert crowd, killing 58 and wounding nearly 500 on sunday. group of 12 people who assaulted and robbed a 17- year-old in dolores park. it happened yesterday afternoon between 2:00 and 6:35. the teenager says he was approached by a group of people who assaulted him, took his belt, cellphone, wallet and money. the 12 attackers then ran away. police have not yet released any information on the suspects.. (steve) governor jerry brown signed legislation today making california a "sanctuary state." the bill bars police from asking california residents about their immigration status. ben deci (dee-see) reports on the bill. ben look live:"hundreds of times every year, immigration agents come here, to the sacramento county jail. they pick up inmates who've faced their local charges, but who are living in the county illegally. federal immigration agents pick them up here, and in most cases, deport them." under california's new sanctuary state status, those

new tonight at six... the san francisco d-a's office has released the summary of its investigation into three officer-involved shootings...including two that were deadly.(steve) grant lodes is here with more on their findings.... grant? (grant) the focus of their investigation was to determine if the officers should be criminally charged. the d-a determined that all three shootings were legally justified. the most recent shooting happened this past may... police were responding to an armed robbery at a house near quesada and rankin street...clsoe to where 280 and 101 connect. police say the armed robber shot at the officers. one of the officers fired back a single shot. no one was

injured. again...the district attorney ruled that the officer's actions were justified. in october of 20-16... police received multiple calls of someone acting erratic and violent at lakeshore plaza near the zoo. police say nicholas mc- wherter shot at an officer and ran off. about an hour later...police were shot at again...this time they fired back...killing mchwerter. the district attorney is not filing criminal charges in this shooting. and in september of 2014.... officers were responding to a car crash at california and battery streets. police say giovany contreras-sandoval was armed and unwilling to exit the vehicle he had carjacked. witnesses say he fired at least one shot before police arrived. six officers shot and killed him for him refusing to listen to their commands. the district attorney says the officers acted in self-defense. (catherine) criminal charges have been dismissed against another police officer - involved in the bay area police sex scandal. the alameda county d-a's office

dropped charges against oakland officer giovanni loverde. he was facing a felony charge of oral sex with a minor. he pleaded not guilty last october. this came a day after a judge dismissed a case against contra costa county sheriff's deputy ricardo perez. that involves your water bills. san francisco public utility officials say they've heard from dozens of customers this week... people who have received phone calls from someone impersonating a representative from " s-f utilities". the prank caller threatens to shut off water service unless they get an immediate cash payment at walgreens, c-v-s, and rite-aid stores in san francisco. police are investigating. (steve) all the technology automakers are cramming into dashboards are making drivers increasingly distracted. a university of utah professor has been studying "info-tainment" on dashboards since 20-13. he says the media is making drivers to take their eyes off the road... and hands off the wheel for longer periods of time. the technology is also becoming more complicated. cars used to have just a few buttons and knobs. now some have as many as 50 buttons on the steering wheel and dashboard. our top story tonight... investigators are looking into the possibility that the las vegas shooter planned additional attacks...including a car bombing.(catherine) they say that the information is preliminary - and that no solid evidence has been uncovered yet. 58 people were killed and nearly five- hundred were injured in sunday's shooting.(steve) investigators are also working to determine if the shooter acted alone, and whether anyone knew what he was planning. this comes as new video shows concert-goers running from the gunfire on sunday.(catherine) jean casarez reports on the timeline of events from that day.

son's tonka dump truck caught on fire. sheena haney says the fire started when her husband tried to move the truck. she is greatful that her son was not on the toy at the time. a recall had been issued for the truck in may of this year. but is say the acceleration pedal can stick posing crash hazards. the recall does not mention a fire hazard. haney says toys-r-us to her 'what happened to their toy was an isolated incident'.
