(pkg)(nats)jeff gilbert wasn't sure what he'd find when he returned to his glenn ellen home for the first time.(nats) "we had to get up at 2:30 in the morning and hightail it out of here, i've been kind of pretty shooken by this while experience, for two weeks now it's been a little difficult." the flames destroyed homes less than a block from his home...."it's kind of heartbreaking, everything is burned, a lot of the areas around here."his home.... left untouched by the flames.just a little damage from those rough winds that fanned the flames that night."what everybody's yard that didn't burn is gonna look like this, sticks and leaves and branches so i'm just trying to clear it out, make some sense of it all, make it feel like home again." while glenn ellen's main road was reopened... several streets still remain off limits.but the reopening of arnold drive did allow some businesses to reopen including glenn ellen grocery..."i'm very happy to be back and up and running."but ray zarco who works in the store says returning is bittersweet..."i know most of the people here in glenn ellen and most of them know me so i'm very sad to what happened to their

homes." while many people are able to returns, others are still waiting."the hard part is a lot of people are still out, a lot of people are still trying to get into their places and can't."when the areas will reopen remains to be seen.in the meantime, people who live here can expect an increased police presence. (marty) most of the wine tasting rooms in napa and sonoma counties are up and running again. according to the wine institute... fewer than a dozen wineries were damaged or destroyed in the north bay fires. institute officials say 90 percent of this year's grape harvest was completed before the fire. wine that was fermenting or already bottled should not be affected by the heat or the smoke. the national guard prepared kits of buckets with gloves, masks and other items to help them in what they were about to find.it's quite a stark reality when someone comes back to a home that has been completely destroyed. i don't think many people are prepared for it and when they see it it can be quite devastating.what they found were their nieghborhoods destroyed. unrecognizable, glasses melted and fused computers unrecognizable. i'm glad my wife's not here.couldn't recognize it, didn't even recognize the neighborhood. it's like somebody gutted you out and your floating in space, you come back here and there's no place to land.not only us but..sorry.but the whole neighborhood and the community, it's terrible.it's just sad. sad for everybody. santa rosa firefighters are now helping those returnees cope, even with their own loss. all of fountaingrove is where this engine is from we lost our fire house as well, that's all behind us our job is to help those people coming into the community, seeing their homes help them with the recovery process. it's a very

s presidents made a rare group appearance for hurricane relief. this is the 1st time since 2013 that all the living u-s president's appeared together. the event called "one america appeal", was a relief concert to benefit victims of recent hurricanes. it took place on the campus of texas a-and-m . president trump appeared via a taped video message. money from ticket sales will go to relief organizations in texas, florida, puerto rico, and the u-s virgin islands. damage from hurricanes harvey, irma and maria has topped 300- billion dollars. overnight... a woman is in the hospital after an officer involved shooting in livermore. it happened just before midnight in the parking lot of a business on airway boulvalard. an officer ran a records check on the car and learned the car was stolen. officers asked the woman who was inside the car to get out, police say she igorned them, started the car, and drove directly at the officers. hitting two patrol cars. officers then fired at the woman as she drove at them. the woman sustained non life threatening injuries. ( marty ) in the north bay... the fountain grove neighborhood in santa rosa opened back up to residents. people are now returning to their homes to go through the rubble and see if there is anything they can salvage. kron 4's jeff pierce shows us many were shocked at the level of devastation. check points were opened on saturday for fire victims of the fountain grove neighborhood in santa rosa. the national guard prepared kits of buckets with gloves, masks and other items to help them in what they were about to find.it's quite a stark reality when someone comes back to a home that has been completely destroyed. i don't think many people are prepared for it and when they see it it can be quite devastating.what
