salvage anything.. kron 4's jeff pierce shows us how people were shocked at the level of devastation in the fountain grove neighborhood. check points were opened on saturday for fire victims of the fountain grove neighborhood in santa rosa. the national guard prepared kits of buckets with gloves, masks and other items to help them in what they were about to find.it's quite a stark reality when someone comes back to a home that has been completely destroyed. i don't think many people are prepared for it and when they see it it can be quite devastating.what they found were their nieghborhoods destroyed. unrecognizable, glasses melted and fused computers unrecognizable. i'm glad my wife's not here.couldn't recognize it, didn't even recognize the neighborhood. it's like somebody gutted you out and your floating in space, you come back here and there's no place to land.not only us but..sorry.but the whole neighborhood and the community, it's terrible.it's just sad. sad for everybody. santa rosa firefighters are now helping those returnees cope, even with their own loss. all of fountaingrove is where this engine is from we lost our fire house as well, that's all behind us our job is to help those people coming into the community, seeing their homes help them with the recovery process. it's a very

very emotional time for them. whether that's helping find a wedding ring, we've found wedding rings finding documents, we're cracking safes, whatever we can do to help these people recover.and so they sift through the ashes where even the smallest items are now treasured.just some porcelain dolls that were in the downstairs area in my hope chest all my children's dolls and things.a little nativity scene made it with the baby jesus.retired firefighter george cuculich retrived a lifetime keepsake.we wanted to get my badge so we did get my badge that was awesome.tom howard's find brought an ironical moment of joy for his wife amidst their loss.she had all her family pictures from tahiti that she had in a safe and the miracle was that the safe was intact and she has all her pictures and it's just wonderful.it is a scene of a broken neighborhood taking the first steps to recovery.some of the most beautiful things i've seen today are neighbors coming together, holding each other, connecting with each other it was very moving.very close neighbors here and i think most will rebuild and in five years we'll be home again. in the fountain grove neighborhood of santa rosa jeff pierce kron four news.

4:43 am
saying that if bart offered restrooms this would never happen your take on the bathroom thing or lack there of. the bathrooms at downtown stations remain closed but where working on it we want to open them but we're actually designing a pilot for powell street and 19th street basically a new design which would allow us to open the restroom, and then in the mean time, we're parterning with san francisco to bring its called pitstop restrooms which are these attended and clean bathrooms right at the street level there are right above our stations to make a long story short, since the hasn't actually been ticketed for the violation if and when she gets out of jail she may offend again imagine being caught three times in the act or have three separate riders step up and do a citizens arrest that's what is needed to even ban the person from the system bart officials hope she gets the help she needs and for now the riders get the break they deserve in san francisco, stanley roberts kron 4 news (robin) welcome back.
