fixtures where the highest levels of led have been detected. school officials have also notified parents. earlier this month a new california law came into effect that requires lead testing in all state public schools. lead exposure in kids can impact the development of the brain and nervous system. (robin) in the east bay ... for the second time this week - a student has brought a loaded gun to campus. the latest incident happened in san ramon at twin creeks elementary school. police say an 8-year-old brought a loaded gun to school yesterday. another student reported seeing it after coming home from school. police contacted the parents and say they found the gun in the student's backpack. the 8-year-old student has been suspended. (robin) three men have been arrested for a murder in the south bay. police say it was part of a crime spree targeting bay area brothels. an yan, lin tao and panpan huang have been arrested for the murder that happened last month in san jose. police say the three are also suspected in crimes at

brothels in south san francisco, milpitas and fremont. the suspects are from southern california and are in a los angeles county jail they face numerous charges including murder, robbery, kidnapping and sexual assault. every day we are learning more about the murder of kate steinle. kron 4's maureen kelly was in the courtroom when jurors learned how police captured the suspect...jose garcia zarate. a port authority surveillance camera pointed at pier 14 showed when 32 year old kate steinle fell to the ground after being struck in the back by the bullet.it was from a vantage point much farther away than this shots.and very grainy.the people on film just little dots..but there

was an audible gasp in the courthouse when the person identified as kate steinle collapsed.then enhanced video shows video of a splash that the assistant district attorney says was the murder weapon. and a figure .identified as jose garcia zarate seen here in an eariler court appearance scurries off the pier.the defense attorney maintains that the weapon that killed steinle had been wrapped in rags when his client found it on the pier. he says garcia zarate didn't' know it was a gun and it went off when picked it up. bitea spokesman for the da's office says this case is being built brick by brick and they believe the jury will see the charge of murder is supported by the evidence presented to them. maureen kelly kron4 news.

a celebration was held for a santa rosa man killed in the north bay firestorm. kron4's j-r stone was there as friends and family remembered 40-year-old mike grabow (gray- bow). 40 year old mike grabow was remembered wednesday night. it's believed he was in bed when the tubbs fire tore through his santa rosa home near mark west springs road. tragically mike didn't make it out.he's just a really great person touched a lot of people probably the nicest man most genuine man i've ever met in my lifemike's friends spoke higly of him wednesday night. paul sheridan's wife was good friends with mike and like everyone else.was desperatly looking for him after the tubbs fire tore through the area.last text on her phone is asking if he's alright and there's no response so.this is what's left of mike's home. the pick up truck out front is about the only recognizable thing there but even that burned in the fire. wednesday night though it was about remembering the good times with mike. patrons packed the

school football players have been accused of sexually harrassing a group of girls in antioch. the principal of antioch high school says six members of the j-v team made inappropriate or sexually explicit comments monday as the female students walked by the locker rooms. another six students who were not on the team were also involved. the school says this comes just a week after some players attended a seminar on sexual assault and bullying. the school says tomorrow's j-v game versus deer valley high school is cancelled. a follow up this morning ... on an alleged rape at stanford university. it is the third sexual assault reported in less than a month ... and it may be part of a larger trend across the country. kron 4's rob fladeboe takes a look at the rising number of sexual assaults at several bay area universities. the stanford university department of public safety confirms it is investigating the alleged rape reported just after midnight on monday. a

police said they are looking into a report from a victim of a sexual assault which occurred in a dorm room. neighborhood to find out why. natsthis coming friday, ford go bike plans to install one of its bike sharing stations here along shafter avenue in the rockridge area. the new bike rack and payment kiosk will replace two neighborhood parking spaces.sotwe are not really sure why it's going in residential area.anna dair and her family live about two doors down. she says they didn't know this was going to happen. she's not opposed to people riding bikes but she's worried about how this project got approved.soti think in concept the idea is very good. we have a transportation problem in the bay area and bikes are a great solution. the problem we have with this is that we are not sure the proper process was followed. that notice wasn't given to people who would have a rack in front of their house. oakland city councilmember dan kolb represents the rockridge area. he says he has received multiple message from concerned neighbors, but he also says it appears that while ford go bike did follow the rules when it come to public outreach. they probably could have done a better job. sotthere was an effort to get input and tell everyone, but that effort wasn't thorough enough to reach everybody and that was part of the problem.a

spokesperson for ford go bike told kron 4 in a statement wednesday that " "working closely with the oakland department of transportation, we've done extensive community outreach about these stations and canvassed these neighborhoods to talk with residents face-to-face about bringing bike share to their community." beyond how the project was approved, anna and several of her neighbors are also worried that the new racks could have an impact on their quiet street.sotwe have an issue with the look and feel of the bike stations and how it might change the character of our neighborhood and frankly how it might affect the property value of our home which we worked very hard to obtain. (robin) rent prices in the bay area are rising.... and we have new numbers to share with you this morning. these are the most expensive bay area cities for a one bedroom apartment. in san francisco - the average rent went up by 90 dollars to 3,480 dollars. in mountain view, the average rent went up 50 dollars to 3,110 dollars. and in redwood city the average rent is 2,800 dollars. these are the least expensive bay area cities to live in... vallejo has an average one bedroom rent price of 1,300 dollars. the

(robin) novato police are looking for a woman they say stole a ring from a jewelry store. these are surveillance pictures of the thief. police say she stole the ring from the gold rush jewelers in the novato fair shopping center off of redwood boulevard. the ring was worth 75-hundred dollars. (robin) three tesla employees have filed lawsuits against tesla in fremont. they say the workplace is so hostile to black workers it was - quote - "straight from the jim crow era." an engineer claims she was cat-called on the factory floor and was terminated after she sued for gender discrimination. a total of four lawsuits have been filed against tesla. tesla released a statement saying it takes all complaints seriously, but says a proven case of discrimination has never been filed against the company. through this difficult time. she says her fourth grade teacher opened up his home to her and her family while they try figure things out. kristin johnson/fire victim- "i pass by it a lot, because i have friends up the road that we go visit. and, um, and, just running errands, and its terrible. i mean, my neighborhood all the way up the road, for a little ways, its just, it's gone." most of what burned in the fire, kristin says, can be replaced... except for some of her grandmother's antiques that she passed down to her. and, this... this 1977 camero. her husband's prized possession. he tried to get it out the night of the fire... but the battery was dead and the car burned up.nats- "this is my house right here. this is it. i cannot believe this sáát." that's kristin you hear in the video as she passed by her house in a fire engine, watching it go down. she kept working that night, and her crew helped save a few other homes. her husband and three-year-old son made it out in time, and were not

(robin) president trump is set to deliver a major speech on fighting the opioid epidemic... which kills tens of thousands of americans every year. during his

campaign, the president pledged to make fighting addiction a top priority. since then, president trump has put together a commission to study the problem and declared the crisis an emergency freeing up additional money and resources. but some advocates worry even that won't difference. (robin) you can soon expect even longer lines at the airport.... a government spokeswoman says new security measures on incoming flights to america from abroad will impact flights. transportation officials say the increased security impacts about 21-hundred flights arriving daily. the spokeswoman says the new security measures may include enhancing passenger screening and heightened screening of electronics. it would affect both u-s citizens and foreigners. (robin) the global production of wine is expected to fall to its lowest level in more than half a century ... and it's all because of the weather. the international organization of vine and wine says they expect an eight- percent decrease in wine production worldwide next year.

the group's report says grape vines in key wine- producing regions like italy, france and spain have been hurt by extreme temperatures. this is putting 20-17 on track to experience the worst global harvest since 1961. the forecast is especially bad for lovers of prosecco and other wines that are produced in italy. wine output in that country is expected to drop by 23-percent. rosa man killed in the north bay wildfires. mike grabow (gray-bow) was one of the 42 - people killed. a celebration of his life was held last night at one of his favorite hangouts -- the cooperage brewing company. it's believed grabow was in bed when the tubbs fire tore through his santa rosa home near mark west springs road. ( will ) grabow's close friends also took donations in his honor. they plan on giving the money to the redwood credit union fire relief fund. (will) you can soon expect even longer lines at airports all around the world. a government spokeswoman says new security measures on incoming flights to america from abroad will impact flights. transportation officials say the increased security affectes about 21-hundred flights arriving daily. the spokeswoman says the new security measures may include enhancing passenger screening and heightened screening of electronics. both u-s citizens and foreigners will face the same security.

(terisa) the brother of las vegas gunman stephen paddock is arrested for possession of child pornography. 59-year-old bruce douglas paddock was arrested in north hollywood. the arrest warrant says he possessed more than 600 child porn images during a 2014 investigation. police say he was homeless and couldn't be found until he was recently tracked down at a nursing facility. the arrest came from an independent investigation -- and is unrelated to his brother's shooting rampage in las vegas that killed 58 people and injured more than 500 others. ( will ) this morning there are new details in the kidnapping of a northern california woman. sherri papini says she was abducted by two women and held for three weeks last november. investigators have revealed that d-n-a from an unknown man was found on papini's clothes after she was freed. police have also released sketches of her attackers. we have also learned that papini told investigators that before she was released... her two captors were arguing and then she heard a gunshot. police are also releasing the 9-1-1 calls from her husband. bay... the deadly firestorm has led to an extreme lack of housing in the north bay. local realtors are teaming up to make sure there is no price gouging when it comes to rental properties. realtors say they have heard reports of a 2-thousand dollar apartment going for as much as 10-thousand dollars. the santa rosa city council is working on an emergency ordinance to keep rental price increases to just 10-percent. ( terisa ) in national news... there is a new effort by democratic lawmakers to close loopholes in background checks for people buying guns. as many as one in four guns in the u-s are sold without background checks. now a group of democratic senators are introducing the background check expansion act. under current law, unlicensed or private sellers are not required to conduct a background check. the bill would change that law. opponents of the bill say criminals will still be able to get guns no matter how many laws congress passes. ( terisa ) today... all files that are still classified on the j-f-k assassination will be released. a 1992 law requires the release of the classified files. only the president can decide to hold some of the information back. many intelligence agencies are reportedly pushing back against complete disclosure of the files.
