solved the homicide case the 2015 shooting death of berkeley musician emiliano nevarez has been solvedit was back in april of 2015 outside of the golden bull bar on 14th street in oakland. that is where emiliano nevarez was picking up his musical equipment when he was struck by a stray bullet. oakland police sgt. eric milina says dejour jamison was shooting at another person at the time the joint opd and fbi investigation centered around tips that came in about a month ago that pointed to jamerson being the alleged shooter in the case. however when investigators tracked him down they learned that 24-year-old dejour jamerson died in a car collision while

been lifted at woodside elementary school in san mateo county -- after reports of a man with a gun. police say the man was seen in the creek behind the school just before 3:30 this afternoon. the man has not been found, but the lockdown is now over. police are searching for the man who was seen wearing a white jumpsuit. we will update this story as more information becomes available. (vicki) and a lockdown at milpitas high school has been lifted for the second time today.. police detained one student with a gun on campus... and then investigated a rumor of a second armed student. it happened just after the lunch break this afternoon. a second student was found off campus.. but it's not clear if that student actually had a gun. the lockdown was lifted just after 3:00... and students were released from school. (steve) tonight-- wildfires continue to burn in the north bay. thousands of homes are destroyed and dozens of lives are lost. westgate road. as we wait for the fires to be put out -- people who live in the heart of the devastation are trying to get their lives back to normal. (vicki) as the north bay recovers from weeks of wildfires and traumatic evacuations... today, local leaders boarded the napa valley wine train together. (steve) kron four's philippe djegal reports... the message is the the napa valley is still open for business. (vicki) this saturday sonoma county residents are invited to attend a day of remembrance in santa rosa in the wake of the wildfires that are still burning in the county. the event starts eleven a.m. at santa rosa junior college's bailey field on mendocino avenue. the event will include a santa rosa fire department color guard bagpipesand brief choir and musical performances. 23 people in sonoma county died in the fires... which destroyed thousands of homes and businesses. trains are being readied for the first riders next summer. kron four's rob fladeboe is live in milpitas with the details rob? (rob live) it's been five years since construction began on the bart extension from fremont to san jose.now trains are actually rolling along the tracks, undergoing a series of tests. let's take a look. this is one of two three car trains that have been rolling back and forth along the recently completed extension from fremont through milpitas to san jose. but before the highly complex system is certified to carry human cargo, it must first be put through a series of test runs says the vta's brandi childress.brandi childress/valley transportation authority ".....that means we are in a phase where we are testing all of the trains movements. we've finished with the static testing of signals. now we've got the trains on the tracks at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour testing all of the systems..."the new bart stations here at the great mall in milpitas and and the berryessa station insan jose are all but finished now. several months of what's called the static testing of

( steve ) san francisco is still wearing the crown ... as the worst place in the united states to find affordable housing.new numbers out this week show rental prices up again, lengthening the city's lead over second=place new york city.( vicki )some bay area cities are seeing rents go downcatherine heenan is here to sort through the good, the bad and the ugly.catherine? (catherine) ugly is the word.........as rents soar in the bay area cities which are close to the highest- paying jobs. kachinglet's start with san francisco, where the average one bedroom apartment now goes for nearly 35=hundred dollars a month.that's down about 500 dollars from a peak in june, but still leads the nation. mountain view is the second most expensive place for bay area renters.in the last year, the average one bedroom apartment has soared more than

8=hundred dollars to 31=hundred and 69 dollars. redwood city rents jumped three point seven percent since last month to 28=hundred. emeryville in the east bay and palo alto on the peninsula round out the top five at more than 26=hundred and fifty dollars.the real estate website zumper=dotcom says the fastest rising rents in the bay area are in mountain view, petaluma in the north bay and walnut creek in the east bay. zumper says the most affordable rents can be found in vallejo, santa rosa and napa.but we should piint out that rents in the last two towns will likely be impacted by the wine country fires. to the airport earlier. enhanced security measures designed to detect explosives in electronic devices kicked in today. many airlines are conducting security interviews with all passengers as part of the check-in process as part of the new regulations. the new department of homeland security measure comes after the u-s banned all carry-on laptops from certain airports in turkey, the middle east and africa in march. that ban was lifted in july after the u-s instituted new security requirements...and gave airlines 120 days to comply. today marks the end of that grace period. more than 300-thousand people fly into the u-s on international flights every day. (steve) the trump administration is making it harder to renew h-1b visas. the h-1b is a popular visa pathway for highly skilled foreign workers seeking employment in the u-s. it can be renewed every three years. this week, immigration officers were advised to give extension requests the same amount of "scrutiny" as first-time

president trump is publicly declaring a war on the opioid epidemic. overdoses of the drug have claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of americans in recent years the president today-- calling it a 'public health emergency'. omar jimenez has more on what the declaration means for those communities dealing with this deadly crisis. pres. donald trump: we can be the genernation that ends the opioid epidemicpresident trump declaring war on the opioid crisis. pres. donald trump: this epidemic is a national health emergecy.the order - under the public health services act -- will direct federal agencies to give more grant money to fight the epidemic.but stops short of declaring it a national emergency as trump recently promised. pres trump/wednesda y: in terms of declaring a national emergency which gives us power to do things you can't do right now. the difference -- money and scope. a national emergency would have allowed the government to tap into federal disaster relief funds.administration

following reports of players making foul remarks. it happened monday just after school. the principle say six j-v football players made "profane, vulgar or sexually explicit comments" as female students walked by the locker rooms. another six students reportedly made comments supporting their friends or failed to intervene or leave. the principal says the girls felt threatened by the comments. we spoke with students about the decision to cancel the game. (student): "well, i feel like it did get out of hand. no matter who said what, they shouldn't have. it doesn't matter who you are and how you're talking about if you're friends with them you shouldn't talk bad upon anyone else even if it's your friend." the incident comes just a week after some players attended a seminar on sexual assault and bullying. some of students were suspended or sent home. an east bay high school is standing by its decision to reinstate a teacher ... after an investigation confirming inappropriate conduct with students.(vicki) that is according to the superintendent of piedmont unified school district. district officials say, the reason the teacher is keeping his job is because the conduct was not criminal. school graduates reported the incidents, which occurred last school year. the teacher was placed on administrative leave in september, but has since been reinstated. (vicki) new tonight at five... a college student says a man inappropriately touched himself in front of her in downtown berkeley. this is who police are now searching for. it happened on tuesday near the corner of center street and martin luther king way...that is right near m-l-k junior civic center park. a student at berkeley city college says a man walked towards her car as she was parking. she said she was scared and stayed in the car. that is when the man exposed himself and began touching himself inappropriately. she took this picture and quickly drove away. following tonight-- elevated levels of lead have been found in the water at three bay area schools. and we are now hearing from parents. (steve) kron 4's camila bernal is at west portal elementary school in san francisco with the details. these are the schools -- west portal elementary, malcolm x elementary and san francisco international high school. all of the schools are in san francisco. the school district says the water itself is not bad -- but in each case it's a problem with certain pipes. the schools are working to fix the problems. the fixtures where the high lead leves were detected are shutdown. if needed, bottled water is being provided and parents have been notified. earlier this month a new california law came into effect that requires testing in all state public schools. lead exposure in kids can impact the development of the brain and nervous system.

say an eight- year old brought the firemarm to school another student reported seeing it. once at the scene police contacted the child's parents -- and found the weapon in the student's backpack. the student has been suspended...however parent's we talked too...are still on edge tonight.(sot) police arrested 30 year old san ramon resident, anthony o'donnell. he is the father of the kid who brought the gun to the school. this is the second time this month that a student has brought a loaded gun to an east bay school. a student was arrested accused of bringing a gun on campus at de anza high school in richmond. (vicki) the san francisco 49ers, san jose police officers association and other major law enforcement unions across the country are teaming up to sign a "pledge for a more understanding and safer

america." the pledge comes after the mass shooting in las vegas. the 49ers and the police departments are pledging to push for legislation to ban "bump stocks" and any other mechanism that allows a semi-automatic weapon to become an automatic weapon. there is also a pledge to create a public awareness campaign to improve police and community relationships. the 49ers have pledged 500 thousand towards the campaign. they will also invite other nfl teams to sign the pledge. (steve) in national news... hillary clinton was not initially aware of the dossier of allegations linking president trump to russia. according to a source, clinton did not know about the document until it was published earlier this year. the source says she was disappointed it was not made public before she lost the 2016 election. this news comes a day after the law firm representing the clinton campaign and the d-n-c acknowledged the two paid for opposition research on donald trump. that helped fund the now-infamous dossier of allegations about trump and

russia. trump says the dossier "fake" and "made up." (steve) eight prototypes for a wall between the u-s and mexico debuted today. four companies spent the past month constructing the walls out of concrete and steel. the prototype walls stand between eighteen and thirty feet high. officials will spend three months testing each one. they could decide to use all of them -- or none of them. congress has not authorized any new money to build president trump's promised border wall. the prototypes were funded by a twenty million dollar allocation congress authorized the department of homeland security to pull from other places in its budget. junior varsity football players has cost the entire team tonight's game. the principle say six j-v football players made "profane, vulgar or sexually explicit comments" as female students walked by the locker rooms monday. another six students reportedly made comments supporting their friends or failed to intervene or leave. the principal says the girls felt threatened by the comments. we spoke with students about the decision to cancel the game. (student): "well, i feel like it did get out of hand. no matter who said what, they shouldn't have. it doesn't matter who you are and how you're talking about if you're friends with them you shouldn't talk bad upon anyone else even if it's your friend." the incident comes just a week after some players attended a seminar on sexual assault and bullying. some of students were suspended or sent home. in connection with a 'road rage' incident in berkeley the incident happened last thursday on ashby avenue. the man on the right of your screen... is who police are looking for. the victim says, he was driving when his passenger yelled at a mercedes driver for driving recklessly. when the cars stopped in traffic the mercedes driver got out his car.. and attacked the pair in the other vehicle. the victims got out of their car .. and they all started arguing. at one point... police say, the suspect got back in his mercedes ... driving it into one of the victims. no one was seriously injured. the suspect is wanted tonight for assault with a deadly weapon, and battery. (steve) one person is injured after a shooting near an elementary school in san jose... the shooter is still on the loose tonight. it happened just after midnight near the corner of leeward drive and barlow avenue...that is just a few blocks away from sylvia cassell elementary school. officers found one man with at least one gunshot wound.

(pam)(on cam) an east bay high school is standing by its decision to reinstate a teacher ... after an investigation confirming inappropriate conduct with students. that is according to the superintendent of piedmont unified school district. district officials say, the reason the teacher is keeping his job is because the conduct was not criminal. (pam) five recent piedmont high school graduates reported the incidents, which occurred last school year. the teacher was placed on administrative leave in september, but has since been reinstated.

larger crime spree targeting bay area brothels. an yan... lin tao and panpan huang (wong) have been arrested for the murder that happened last month in san jose. police say, the three are also suspected in crimes at brothels in south san francisco... milpitas... and fremont. all three men are from southern california. they face a number of charges including murder ... robbery... kidnapping and sexual assault. police also released this surveillance video of two men they are still looking for in connection with the crimes. police have not yet identified these two suspects... they are hoping you can help with more information that could lead to their arrests. (steve) take a look at this dramatic video... ten people were injured after a car crashed into a restaurant in maryland. one of the people in the restaurant on tuesday said it felt like they were hit with a bomb. the driver of the car says her brakes gave out and she was going 25 miles per hour.
