and taylor boulevard. that's just three blocks from taylor middle school. a 14 year old girl says a man in a golden brown minivan pulled up along side of her and tried to start up a conversation. she ignored him and walked away sotit increases the need to have a talk with your kids but at the same time, social media has forced those conversations already most parents picking up their kids at taylor middle school already have had the stranger danger talk, but had another one after hearing about this incident.sotwe had rules in the house about talking to strangers this reinforces our safety rulesthe second incident occurred at 230 wednesday afternoon on hillcrest boulevard east of el camino real. a 13 year old girl says a man driving a silver mini cooper with black and white checkers on the side pulled up along side of her and tried to start up a conversation. she too walked away. authorities believe the same man is responsible and hope this sketch will help locate him he's descried as a

charges are filed in the investigation into russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. the investigation is being headed up by special counsel robert mueller. c-n-n reports a federal grand jury approved the charges. anyone facing charges could be taken into custody as soon as monday.the paperwork is sealed under orders from a federal judge. the special counsel's investigation has focused on issues including the potential collusion between the trump campaign and russia. it also focused on whether president trump might have tried to impede the investigation. for your health:here is a look at some of the new medical findings released this week: ( marty ) you might want to think twice before pouring yourself a morning cup of coffee. doctors say drinking too much coffee can have negative side effects on your health. doctors say you should only drink about 4... 8-ounce cups of coffee each day. if you drink more than that... researchers suggest trying black or green tea which can help cut back on your caffeine intake. and if you need a pick-me-up in the afternoon they suggest taking a short ( marty ) a warning for parents. a new report shows baby food could be contaminated with toxic chemicals. out of more than 500 popular baby food products tested - 65 percent contained arsenic. the study by the clean label project also found 80 percent of baby formulas contained arsenic. experts warn that arsenic can affect a child's motor skills, cognition and heart as they're growing. more than a third of the popular baby foods also tested positive for lead.

story we are following this morning... firefighters still putting out hot spots from a fire in the east san jose foothills. the thick black smoke could be seen for miles. we know a trailer home has burned along with several cars. and now we have some new photos showing just how close the fire came to a nearby neighborhood. you can see flames burning right behind the homes. no one was seriously hurt. the fire burned in a rural area near pleasant acres drive and klein road. kron4's ella sogominan reports authorities are learning more about the person who owns the lot where the fire started.

propane tanks and several cars exploded in the back of this east san jose home after a four alarm fire broke out at around 4 friday night. smoke could be smelled and seen for miles away.and next door - there were already signs of the damage from the smoke on window covers.sot: "you can even smell it in the bedroom it's just horrible."neighbors say this man david lu has owned the property for more than 20 years on the corner of klein and pleasant acres drive. and that they've called the city several times to check up on his ever growing collection of cars a trailer and other property on his lot.fire fighters say the crowded yard posed a challenge. sot: brad cloutier, san jose fire captain// "although it was a hot day with temperatures reaching 85 degrees the wind was fortunately light or else fire crews say this could have been a whole different story with a less fortunate ending.the fire was contained to the two acre property.an infrared helicopter scanned the area for any hotspots. we are hearing from a santa rosa man who helped save dozens of neighbors during the north bay firestorm. we were contacted by the man's father who wanted to share his son's story. kron4's charles clifford talked to the man being called a hero . early on the morning of october 9th, casey smith. . who lives in the fountain grove neighborhood of santa rosa. . got a call from his mother.sotbasically saying that a fire was coming from calistoga up and over the hill. his parents were out of town, but casey's 84 year old grandmother was staying in their house and the tubbs fire was closing in. casey drove over and woke her up.sottold me grandma, you have to get

up. there's a fire coming. after taking his grandmother to safey, casey returned home. by then the flames were burning on a nearby ridge and moving towards his street. he also noticed that many of his neighbors were still at home, probably asleep. he started running house to house, yelling and knocking on doors. sotit took me a few mintues because a lot of them are older and it takes a few minutes to get to the door. i was banging on doors until they got there.casey kept at it until the smoke and flames were too much to handle. he says the fire was terrifying. sotthere were definetly points where it was howling, sounding like a jet engine.when casey returned a few days later, he found that about half of the homes on his street had burned down. natsi knocked on every one of these homes.his own house was damaged but still standing. as far as he knows, no one on this street died in the fire. neighbors we spoke to believe casey saved their lives, but he says he was just doing what needed to be done. sotyou just look and realize

full containment of the "bear fire" in the santa cruz mountains....and investigators believe this is the man who started the fire. police arrested marlon coy for looting last week. police say he intentionally started the fire after getting into an arguement with a neighbor on october 16th. deputies say at least three people saw coy start the fire near a home on bear canyon road. it took firefighters ten days to contain the fire that burned four-hundred acres. nine firefighters were injured battling the blaze. (marty) this morning the oakland unified school district says it has fixed the problem of elevateds levels of lead in the water. this after tests revealed six schools in the district had that problem. you can see the schools on this map they are: brookfield, burckhalter, fruitvale, glenview at san fe, joaquin miller and thornhill. 48 different locations have been tested so far... earlier this week we learned three schools in san francisco had eleveated levels of lead

(marty) a piedmont high school teacher has resigned following allegations of inappropriate conduct with students. an investigation concluded the teacher did not commit a crime.. but parents were still concerned. kron4's haaziq madyun has some new details about the conduct that led to the teacher's departure. repeatedly asking students to meet privately, touching, grabing student by the shoulders, head and backs, consuming alcohol in the presence of students...these are some of the investigative findings that led to piedmont high school ap history teacher mark cowherd resigning from his job on fridaypiedmont city councilmember and parent of a piedmont high school student, tim roodrood says he troubled to learn that cowherd was recently reinstated following an investigation confirming the inappropiate behavior

leandro are accused of impersonating police officers during a traffic stop. one of the suspects is just 15 years old. kron4's philippe djegal talked to police about the incident. (philippe) about 20- minutes after midnight... the san leandro police department says a man was pulled over near the intersection of bancroft and 136th avenues... by a silver crown victoria... a model similar to what police officers drive.lt. ron clar/slpd- "and, used some, um, used some sort of a lighting system to give the driver the impression that he was being pulled over by the police." lieutenant ron clark says it didn't take the victim long to realize that the four people inside the crown victoria, were not cops.. lt. ron clar/slpd- "as he looks in he looks in his mirror, he sees a person get out of the vehicle wearing a hoodie. hoodie gets put up over his head, zips it up. he realizes, this ain't the police and he takes off." lieutenant clark says the suspects sped off too. the victim chose to follow them, but lost them on the freeway. he called 9-11 and reported

what happened. less than an hour later, the alameda county sheriff's office spotted the suspects on interstate 580 and stopped them.lt. ron clar/slpd- "the , uh, driver of the vehicle was 15 years old. he was arrested for the impersonation of a police officer, stopping a vehicle. there was a 19-year-old adult in the car. he was arrested for contributing to the delinquency. and, the other two occupants were juveniles and they were released to their parent." police believe this was an isolated incident. and, that this case does not appear to be related to any others. in san leandro, philippe djegal, kron four news. (marty) we are learning new information about the two lockdowns at milpitas high school. two 14-year-old students were booked into juvenile hall .... after a gun was found on campus. school security found a student with an unloaded handgun in the restroom at around noon thursday. he also had a loaded magazine near his backpack. schools in the area were told to shelter in place. about two- hours later... students believed

another student had a weapon on campus. the school was locked down again... while security searched for the student. he was later found off-campus ... and did not have a gun. police later learned that one of the students asked the other to hold the gun for him. coming up... bart to start checking for people for proof of payment. how they plan to enforce it. live look outside... san mateo bridge. graffitied several offensive images at the embarcadero station in san francisco. including several swastikas and racial slurs. the vandalism has since been removed. police believe this man is connected to other vandalism incidents in san leandro, glenn park and macarthur stations. (marty) we are now hearing from bart riders.. after the transit agency announced they will soon start checking for people for proof of payment. the attempt to catch fare evaders will begin next year. if someone is stopped without a ticket, they will get a citation. adults will be charged 75- dollars...and 55-dollars for children... with the option of community service. bart officials say they are losing about 15 to 25-million dollars a year

(marty) many students in santa rosa returned to school this week for the first time since the north bay firestorm broke out nearly three weeks ago. 13 schools reopened friday, and another 11 are scheduled to reopen monday. counselors are available for students who are dealing with stress and trauma after the fires. school breakfasts and lunches have been served to any student who needs a (marty) it is about to get even more expensive to fill up your car... the state's gas taxes are set to increase on wednesday. the new law adds 12 cents to the gas tax...from 18 cents to 30 cents per gallon. the tax

is expected to generate more than $5 billion a year for road and highway maintenance and mass transit. part of the law will also make it more expensive to register your car. that price hike goes into effect in january. (marty) crews have reached full containment of the "bear fire" in the santa cruz mountains....and investigators believe this is the man who started the fire. police arrested marlon coy for looting last week. police say he intentionally started the fire after getting into an arguement with a neighbor on october 16th. deputies say at least three people saw coy start the fire near a home on bear canyon road. it took firefighters ten days to contain the fire that burned four-hundred acres. nine firefighters were injured battling the blaze. (marty) this morning the oakland unified school district says it has fixed the problem of elevateds levels of lead in the water. this after tests revealed six schools in

(marty) crews have reached full containment of the "bear fire" in the santa cruz mountains....and investigators believe this is the man who started the fire. police arrested marlon coy for looting last week. police say he intentionally started the fire after getting into an arguement with a neighbor on october 16th. deputies say at least three people saw coy start the fire near a home on bear canyon road. it took firefighters ten days to contain the fire that burned

four-hundred acres. nine firefighters were injured battling the blaze. (marty) this morning the oakland unified school district says it has fixed the problem of elevateds levels of lead in the water. this after tests revealed six schools in the district had that problem. you can see the schools on this map they are: brookfield, burckhalter, fruitvale, glenview at san fe, joaquin miller and thornhill. 48 different locations have been tested so far... earlier this week we learned three schools in san francisco had eleveated levels of lead in the water. model similar to what police officers drive.lt. ron clar/slpd- "and, used some, um, used some sort of a lighting system to give the driver the impression that he was being pulled over by the police." lieutenant ron clark says it didn't take the victim long to realize that the four people inside the crown victoria, were not cops.. lt. ron clar/slpd- "as he looks in he looks in his mirror, he sees a person get out of the vehicle wearing a hoodie. hoodie gets put up over his head, zips it up. he realizes, this ain't the police and he takes off." lieutenant clark says the suspects sped off too. the victim chose to follow them, but lost them on the freeway. he called 9-11 and reported what happened. less than an hour later, the alameda county sheriff's office spotted the suspects on interstate 580 and stopped them.lt. ron clar/slpd- "the , uh, driver of the vehicle was 15 years old. he was arrested for the impersonation of a police officer, stopping a vehicle. there was a 19-year-old adult in the car. he was arrested for contributing to the delinquency. and, the other two occupants were juveniles and they were released to their parent." police believe this was an isolated

(marty) we are learning new information about the two lockdowns at milpitas high school. two 14-year-old students were booked into juvenile hall .... after a gun was found on campus. school security found a student with an unloaded handgun in the restroom at around noon thursday. he also had a loaded magazine near his backpack. schools in the area were told to shelter in place. about two- hours later... students believed another student had a weapon on campus. the school was locked down again... while security searched for the student. he was later found off-campus ... and did not have a gun. police later learned that one of the students asked the other to hold the gun for him. coming up... what people are saying about new bart rules coming soon to a station near you. live look outside... san mateo bridge.

happening now... bart police are looking for this man. they say he graffitied several offensive images at the embarcadero station in san francisco. including several swastikas and racial slurs. the vandalism has since been removed. police believe this man is connected to other vandalism incidents in san leandro, glenn park and macarthur stations. 13 schools reopened friday, and another 11 are scheduled to reopen monday. counselors are available for students who are dealing with stress and trauma after the fires. school breakfasts and lunches have been served to any student who needs a meal. (marty) it is about to get even more expensive to fill up your car... the state's gas taxes are set to increase on wednesday. the new law adds 12 cents to the gas tax...from 18 cents to 30 cents per gallon. the tax is expected to generate more than $5 billion a year for road and highway maintenance and mass transit. part of the law will also make it more expensive to register your car. that price hike goes into effect in january.
