(robin) this morning on the kron 4 morning news... heightened security at a popular amusement park in the south bay... this after chaos erupted during a halloween haunt. (robin) and a man is dead following a house fire in san francisco.we have reaction from neighbors. out just after four o'clock on molimo (mo-lee-mo) drive. kron four's philippe djegal spoke with a neighobor who alerted others in the area about the fire. (philippe)corbett campbells/nats- "it was just a flaming tower." the crackling sound of wood woke corbett campbell's wife out of bed... who then alerted him about the fire on the other side of their fence. corbett campbell/nats- "that's our window right there, and we could see the fire shooting straight up over this way, um, and what i believe to be was a tree that had caught." once he realized his home was ok... corbett jumped a fence barefoot, and ran to the house on molimo drive, engulfed in flames, while his wife called for help.corbett campbell/neighbor- "i started screaming, i got down the block. i started pounding on doors on all the adjacent houses and i got to the house that was burning and the fire was coming quick, and as i was pounding on their front door, trying to, trying to wake them up, or see if any body was in there, i was getting no response." the fire department says the initial

9-11 call came in at four-18 in the morning... and, that the first crew that arrived, showed up just four minutes later.corbett campbell/neighbor- "the fog was dense. the smoke was incredibly dense, and, um, i think they got there, they got there in, you know, a great amount of time and did their jobs, and thank you." it appears the home is a total loss. a man, who the san francisco fire department found on the first floor of the home at the beginning of the fire attack, did not survive. but another man did, with non-life threatening injuries. the fire department says a dog who lives here is missing. corbett campbell since the homes on this street are connected, he's surprised the fire did not extend to neighboring homes. though the family that lives here says they can't stay overnight because fire fighters had to poke holes in their roof and a wall to ventalate the smoke. corbett campbell/neighbor- "my heart goes out to the families and people affected by that. it's just, its, really, really, a bad way, bad way to go. it's a bad thing to hear. that's just bad all the way around." the san francisco

police department is involved in the investigation, since a person died. the cause of the fire and where it started has not been released. in san francisco, philippe djegal, kron four news. (robin)in the east bay ... authorities are looking for the person or people responsible for a deadly shooting in discovery bay . it happened near the corner wild and cullen drives....just a half-mile away from timber point school. one man is dead. as kron 4's camela bernal explains ... deputies believe the suspects are teenagers. authorities say a neighborhood disturbance is what lead to a shooting in discovery bay just before one in the morning on sunday. sot: the victim appears to be someone who was walking around his own neighborhood the first 911 call reported an incident near keats court the second caller reported seeing a man who was shot on wilde drive.sot: as we were processing those calls, we began to receive other calls that there were shots

fired a resident in the area attempted to perform cpr on the man who was shot. the medics then took over but were unable to save him. sot: fire took over cpr, unfortunately the victim eventually succumbed to his in juries deputies believe a group of teenagers were involved in the shooting. witnesses reported seeing two cars with various people in their late teens or early 20's. sot: i dotn think this is something they are randomly doing i don't think there's a call for people to be worried in discovery bay, camila bernal kron 4 news. (robin) a man was killed in a shooting in oakland ... and the suspect or suspects involved are still on the loose. the shooting happened around one thrity yesterday morning on eighth street. the victim died at the scene. police have not made any arrests or identified any suspects in the case. the killing ... marks oakland's 59th homicide of the year. (robin) fremont police are looking for this man ... thomas beltran ... after he

held a nine hour stand-off with police.at around 9 o'clock saturday morning ... fremont police got a call from the girlfriend of beltran saying he attacked her. she told authorities he was still in the home. police surrounded the house for hours ... trying to talk to beltran. around 6:15 ... police entered the home and discovered he was not inside. beltran has not been seen since. police say beltran is five foot ten weighing 210 pounds and was wearing a raiders jersey. authorities say he has a violent history and should not be approached. . happening today... jurors will continue to hear testimony in the trial for the man accused of killing kate steinle in san francisco. this week jurors could hear from ballistics experts about the gun used in the shooting jose ines garcia zarate faces a murder charge. the trial left off last week, when the jury heard from the federal agent whose gun was stolen .. and used to kill steinle on pier- 14 in july of 20-15. he testified he was

sure he had stored the gun securely in his s-u-v. the defendant... has claimed the shooting was an accident. the trial is expected to last another three weeks. (robin) the man accused of carjacking a man in san lorenzo before running over and killing the victim is set to be arraigned in court today. victor alvarez is being charged with murder and two counts of carjacking. police say the victim... james figueroa tried to stop alvarez from stealing his truck. that is when police say alvarez ran over figueroa. figueroa later died of his injuries. (robin) a couple is behind bars after allegedly looting homes in neighborhoods devastated by wildfires in the north bay. police believe they stole a ford truck in rohnert park, then made their way to santa rosa. on saturday ... police responded to calls of 2 suspicious people at the overlook apartments on bi-centennial way. a neighbor noticed the couple . 29 year old johnathon leon lee conner, and 22 year old christina marsh

carrying a large flat screen t-v and other items from one of the burnt areas. after authorities spotted the stolen ford ... a high speed chase ensued ... but was called off due to public safety. a short while later ... the stolen ford was found parked on private property ... and conner and marsh were caught while hopping fences and trying to get away.(robin) the couple is facing more than half dozen felony charges including looting, reckless evading, and possession of stolen property. both conner and marsh are being held on half million dollars bail. (robin) police say they added more security at california's great america amusement park in the south bay. this after chaos erupted during a halloween event over the weekend. according to santa clara police - they received reports of fights and thefts happening in the park saturday night.

apparently, multiple people suffered minor injuries and several cell phones were stolen amidst the chaos.police confirmed that a taser was used on a person who was trying to steal a cell phone. that person got away.two people were arrested. one for theft and the other for public drunkenness. (robin)sunday was the last night of the special halloween weekend events. (robin) another mountain lion has been spotted ... this time on the penninsula in san mateo county. the mountain lion was seen on portola road in woodside last night. it was not aggressive and ran off upon being scene. on friday a mountain lion was spotted along highway 35 near the community of kings mountain. a second mountain lion was spotted in

la honda.... if you come across onedo not run away wildlife experts say instead face it... make yourself look big by waving your arms, throwing rocks and making loud noises. (robin)(boxes) a second coyote sighting in san francisco over the weekend ... just days after a dog was taken by one in lake merced. this latest incident happened in mclaren park. as kron 4's hermela aregawi explains ...dog owners are being told to keep your pets close in areas where coyotes might be living. take a look at this..kron 4 viewer video of a coyote in mclaren park.the video taken this morning serves as a reminder to dog owners to keep their pets close.lance martin/dog ownermonkey, my dog stays close to me so i don't have to worry about it. but i do know that people with very small under 40 pounds should keep them on leashes. i have a big dog. some of the smaller dogs in the neighborhood are obviously getting taken by the coyotes so it is dangerous

l/dog owner:ive only lived here about 2 years. but i walk the dog here pretty daily and so ive seen probably half a dozen sightings in 2 years.i think pick him up and also try to make yourself look big but also not try to confront the coyote and try to get out of its space.animal control officials say the best thing to do if you see a coyote.. is pick up your dog if you can, back away, make noise and try to frighten the coyote away. erik schnabel/dog owner:i think you just have to respect their space and be vigilant and be aware that you're in their neighborhood.lance martin/dog ownerwe are going to walk right over here which is just above sunnydale and we are going to see some coyotes im sure in about 5 minutes.we get coyotes here all the time. my dog enjoys barking at them. (robin) a man is recovering this morning from life-threatening injuries after being stabbed near a bart station. the crime happened just after six o'clock saturday night in san francisco on cyril magnin and eddy streets. that's about a block away from the powell street station. authorities say the suspect took off.... the man was

taken to a hospital with life- threatening injuries. (robin) police are looking for a man who they say stole a woman's car at the south hayward station friday morning. authorities say a man appoached a woman as she was walking away from her car. the woman told police he was holding a large wrench. allegedly he grabbed her arm... demanding her purse and keys. the man then got in the womans car and drove away. authorities say the woman was not hurt. (robin) as the north bay fires wind- down. people are sending their praises to first responders and fire survivors. yesterday ... congressman mike thompson , local politicians, and volunteers joined forces to hold a special halloween pancake breakfast at napa valley college. the event was free however many people donated to those who lost homes and property in the firestorm.

congressman thompson will attend a halloween carnival hosted by the boys and girls club of central sonoma county in santa rosa. all are welcome to attend. (robin) congresswoman nancy pelosi toured the north bay fire zone over the weekend. during her tour there was an event to remember the dozens of people who died in the firestorm. kron four's jeff pierce was there as people came to show their support for the community. nat sound bag pipeshundreds of sonoma county residents came together for a day of remembrance for the victims of the north bay fires saturday morning.the number one focus of today is the people we lost in that. so please join me in your thoughts going out to them because we lost lives in that and the thousands who lost their homes, people lost their family members they lost friends.to the forty two people that lost their lives and the family members that are effected this will truly

(robin @ landing) oakland a's fans are reacting to the news that catcher bruce maxwell was arrested on suspicion of pulling a gun on a woman in arizona over the weekend. kron four's spencer blake has more on the attention-grabbing arrest. just over a month ago, bruce maxwell was making headlines for this.he was the first major league baseball player to follow the lead of colin kaepernick and other n-f-l playersby kneeling during the national anthem.but now, the headlines are all about his weekend arrest.saturday night, police in scottsdale arizona arrived at his home after a

food delivery woman called to report the catcher had pointed a gun at her."what do you think that says about the message he was trying to make? well first i always like to say we don't know anything until he gets his fair shot at his side of the story." scottsdale police say maxwell is being held until his initial court appearance.so do his alleged actions taint the controversial gesture he made multiple times as baseball season wound down?"it does automatically because that's obviously an aggressive behavior that's not suited for the sports arena or any arena." kaepernick has said the kneel is meant to draw attention to racial inequality, and police brutality against minorities. that's why maxwell's arrest has some fans upset."it's a catch-22. you're not practicing peace and prosperity to everybody else. you're being hostile."the a's released a short statement saying they were disappointed to learn of the allegations, and take them very seriously. the organization is still gathering information from police.but other fans, like this one selling shirts that

(robin) a man is dead following an early morning hit-and-run accident in oakland. the collision happened around 2:30 saturday morning near 14-th street and harrison street. authorities say one man was taken to the hospital. that's where he died of his injuries. police are still looking for the suspect. (robin) and four people are behind bars after a motorcycle sideshow. it happened just after one o'clock yesterday afternoon on southbound interstate highway 880 in oakland. a c-h-p aircraft spotted about 200 motocycles at the scene. several motorcyles fled the area and hit the streets of hayward. officers eventually caught up to that group and arrested four individuals on suspicion of reckless driving.

(robin)two people are under arrest ... and four people are recovering following a shooting in san francisco's western addition neighborhood. it happened friday night near the corner of fillmore street and golden gate avenue. while the 4 people who were shot are expected to survive ... police are still trying to piece together what happened. (robin) the motive is still unknown and it's unclear if the shooting was targeted. police have not yet said if the victims and suspects had any type of relationship. (robin) the san francisco district attorney's office cleared four officers in the 20-16 death of robert bower who died while in police custody. an autopsy later showed that bower died of a methamphetamine overdose. the d-a's report also cleared two other officers in the 20-15 death of marvin day..who died in police custody officials later learned he had

an allergic reaction to taking meth. and three officers were cleared in the death of alice brown...who was shot to death as she was driving in 20-15...officials say her erratic driving... posed a threat to the public. also that report says a san francisco police officer should not face criminal charges for shooting to death nicholas flusche back in may. police say flusche was stabbing a subway restaurant employee refused the command to get on the floorprompting that officer to shoot and kill him. the officers were cleared by the district attorney's independent investigations bureau, which reviews use of force cases and determines in criminal charges should be filed. (robin) you can cross one name off the list tonight when it comes to those trying to become the next governor of california. los angeles mayor eric garcetti tweeted out his decision this morning. saying he wants to keep serving the city and is passionate about his family.

garcetti won a re-election bid in march... but is termed out in 20-21. some political experts have suggested he may seek the democratic nomination for president in 20-20. the list of candidates for california governor is long... and includes lt. governor gavin newsom. (robin) take a look at this c-h-p rescue in nevada county... a rock climber suffered serious injuries after falling 60 feet last week. the man was climbing near donnor ski ranch when he fell. two off duty firefighters were also rock climbing in the area and came to his rescue. the firefighters provided first aid to the climber while an air ambulance was called. first responders from the helecopter stabilized him and hoisted him into the helecopter ... and he was flown to a hospital in reno. (robin @ landing ) the special counsel's office has been given the green light by a federal grand jury to file charges in the investigation into the alleged russian meddling in the 20-16 election. the investigation is being led by special counsel robert muller.and as kron 4's ali reid tells us ... arrests could be made as early as today. it isn't public knowledge who will be facing indictments but what we do know, is that special agent robert mueller has issued a grand jury subpoena for documents and testimony related to former trump campaign chairman paul manafort and former national security advisor michael flynn. new jersey governor chris christie has words of warning for anyone who could be facing chargesgov. chris christie / (r) new jerseywe

(robin) scienctists are getting ready to study the brain of las vegas shooter stephen paddock. paddock's brain is being sent to stanford university. no abnormalities were found during the visual inspection during the autopsy. now doctors will perform multiple forensic analyses. this includes an exam of brain tissue to find possible neurological problems. experts say evidence of a disease may not necessarily be a contributing factor to the shooting. brain examinations like this are common in high-profile cases... where all forensic options must be exhausted. kevin spacey is accused of making a sexual advance toward actor anthony rapp.during an

area women have filed a federal lawsuit claiming the business is a pyramid scheme. it says lula-roe recruits hopeful employees to sell its products from home- but leaves them in 'financial ruin.' it claims that they're pressured to keep buying wholesale inventory....even if what they have isn't selling....and that the company falsely claims they can earn full-time pay for part-time work.(robin) lula-roe was founded by a husband and wife team in 2012. the company says the allegations are not true....and they'll fight (robin)if you want a piece of apple history ... steve jobs' former b-m-w z-8 roadster.. will be put up for auction in new york in december. the former apple co- owner had the car for about three years, from 2000 to 2003. the no-reserve price estimate is at least 300- thousand dollars. the

police are looking for the driver who killed a man in a hit-and-run accident in the east bay. the crash happened on 14-th street near harrison street in oakland. the victim was taken to the hospital where he died. police have not released a description of the car or driver they are looking for. we'll let you know when they do. .( james ) happening today... jurors will hear more testimony about the weapon used in the murder of kate steinle. this week, a ballistics expert will talk about the gun used in the shooting. jose garcia zarate is charged in the murder. last week, the jury heard from the federal agent whose gun was stolen... and later used to kill steinle two years ago on pier- 14 in san francisco. the defendant claims it was an accident. the trial is expected to last another three weeks. ( terisa ) the man accused of carjacking a man in san lorenzo before running over and killing the victim is set

to be arraigned in court today. victor alvarez is being charged with murder and two counts of carjacking. police say the victim... james figueroa tried to stop alvarez from stealing his truck. that is when police say alvarez ran over figueroa. figueroa later died of his injuries. ( terisa ) police have added more security at california's great america amusement park in the south bay. this after chaos erupted during a halloween event over the weekend. according to santa clara police - they received reports of fights and thefts happening in the park saturday night. multiple people suffered minor injuries and several cell phones were stolen in the chaos. police confirmed that a taser was used on a person who was trying to steal a cell phone. that person got away. two people were arrested. ( james ) fremont police are on the lookout for this man ... thomas beltran. he was the subject of a nine hour stand-off with police.

officers got a call from beltran's girlfriend saying he attacked her and that he was still in the home. police surrounded the house and tried talking to him... but it went know where. and after nine hours of trying, they went inside and discovered he was gone. beltran is considered dangerous... police say he has a violent history and should not be approached. ( james ) a house fire in san francisco claimed a life over the weekend. we have video of the scene yesterday morning when flames broke out on molimo drive. one man died. another was injured... but is expected to survive. firefighters say the home is a total loss. and because a person died, the police department is leading the investigation. they haven't released any information about the victim or how the fire started. ( terisa ) happening now in the east bay ... police are looking for a group of teenagers who may be responsible for a deadly shooting in discovery bay . it happened near the corner of wilde and cullen drives....just a half-mile away from timber point school. one man is dead. investigators believe that a group of teenagers were

( james ) four people are behind bars this morning after a motorcycle sideshow. it happened yesterday afternoon on southbound interstate 880 in oakland. a c-h-p aircraft spotted about 200 motocycles at the scene. several motorcyles fled the area and hit the streets of hayward. officers eventually caught up to that group and arrested four people on suspicion of reckless driving. ( terisa ) bart police are looking for the man who robbed and carjacked a woman at a bart station in the east bay.

( terisa ) the man accused of carjacking a man in san lorenzo before running over and killing the victim is set to be arraigned in court today. victor alvarez is being charged with murder and two counts of carjacking. police say the victim... james figueroa tried to stop alvarez from stealing his truck. that is when police say alvarez ran over figueroa. figueroa later died of his

( terisa ) police say they have added more security at california's great america amusement park in the south bay. this after chaos erupted during a halloween event over the weekend. santa clara say they got reports of fights and thefts happening in the park saturday night. multiple people suffered minor injuries and several cell phones were stolen in the chaos. police confirmed that a taser was used on a person who was trying to steal a cell phone. that person got away. two people were arrested. the subject of a nine hour stand-off with police. officers got a call from beltran's girlfriend saying he attacked her and that he was still in the home. police surrounded the house and tried talking to him... but it went know where. and after nine hours of trying, they went inside and discovered he was gone. beltran is considered dangerous... police say he has a violent history and should not be approached. ( james ) a man in san francisco has died in a house fire. it happened yesterday morning. this was the scene when the flames broke out on molimo drive. one other man was injured. he is expected to survive. firefighters say the home is a total loss. because a man died the police department is leading the investigation. they have not released any information about the victim or how the fire started. ( terisa ) happening now in the east bay ... police are looking for a group of teenagers who may be responsible for a deadly shooting in discovery bay . it happened near the corner wilde and cullen drives....just a half-mile away from timber point school.

one man is dead. investigators believe that a group of teenagers were involved in the shooting. witnesses tell police they saw two cars with several young people at the scene. police say the incident started as some kind of neighborhood disturbance but have not provided any details. police do not believe that the shooting was random. ( james ) take a look at this c-h-p rescue in nevada county. a rock climber suffered serious injuries after falling 60 feet last week. he was climbing near donnor ski ranch when he fell. two off duty firefighters were also rock climbing in the area and were able to give him first aid until an air ambulance arrived. they hoisted him into the helicopter and flew him to the donnor ski ranch where he was then taken to a hospital in reno. ( yoli) the gas tax in california goes into effect this wednesday. that means you will start paying twelve cents more for a gallon of gas. this is all part of governor brown's plan to fix the roads in california. repairs have been needed ever since severe storms hit the state and wrecked roads earlier this year. the gas tax is designed to raise 52-billion dollars towards road repairs over the next ten years. one man who drives an r-v says the gas tax won't prevent him from hitting the road.

( james ) four people are behind bars this morning after a motorcycle sideshow. it happened yesterday afternoon on southbound interstate 880 in oakland. a c-h-p aircraft spotted about 200 motocycles at the scene. several motorcyles fled the area and hit the streets of hayward. officers eventually caught up to that group and arrested four people on suspicion of reckless driving. ( terisa ) bart police are looking for the man who robbed and carjacked a woman at a bart station in the east bay. police say a man walked up to a woman as she was walking away from her car at the hayward bart station. the woman told police he was holding a large wrench. he

francisco district attorney's office cleared four officers in the 20-16 death of robert bowerwho died while in police custody. an autopsy showed that bower died of a methamphetamine overdose. this was part of a report on several officer involved shootings. three officers were also cleared in the death of alice brown... who was shot to death as she was driving in 20-15... investigators say her erratic driving... posed a threat to the public. the report also found that a san francisco police officer should not face criminal charges for shooting to death nicholas flusche back in may. investigators say flusche was stabbing a subway restaurant employee refused police commands to get on the floor and that prompted officers to shoot and kill him. those officers were cleared by the district attorney's independent investigations bureau. ( terisa ) oakland a's catcher bruce maxwell has been arrested -- after a woman claims he pulled a gun on her over the weekend in arizona.
