(robin) in santa rosa, a finding by e-p-a inspectors has locked down - journey's end- mobile home park - most of which was destroyed by wildfire three weeks ago. kron four's spencer blake explains why. many people who came to a community meeting regarding the clean-up status of journey's end mobile home park were a little confused for various reasons."not knowing what is the next step - are we responsible for cleaning up what remains there or is the city coming in? everything's a little unclear."the first major item addressed by the mayor and other local leaders, was the health concern posed by what could be toxic materials."they identified 25 locations scattered through the park which they believe
4:21 am
have the potential to be asbestos-containing material." the environmental protection agency informed the fire marshal, who in turn had the whole park shut down friday morning, just a couple days after people could finally return to start assesing damage."that was the abrupt nature of why it was shut down - it was for your protection." but some people aren't worried about the fact that asbestos inhalation leads to lung disease."if they were so concerned about that they would outlaw cigarette smoking, okay?"some people wanted to know other things, like why the park has no security to protect it from looters.the city points out that it didn't have any security prior to the asbestos discovery, so that would be something residents should talk to the park owner about. other people just wanted to know when they could go back home.that all depends on whether samples taken by the e-p-a come back positive for asbestos.the results from those tests are expected mid week.in santa rosa, spencer blake, kron four news.
