(grant) tonight at five-- the search is on for two robbery suspects who escaped this morning.(vicki) it happened in palo alto... as the two inmates were set to appear in court (vicki) brazen and sophisticated is how sheriff's deputies are describingthe escape.(grant) kron four's rob fladeboe is live at the courthouse with the details about how theypilled it off. rob? (rob live) the escapees are still at large right now. what's clear is that they had help from the outside. what's not so clear as yet is how they got away from their escort and out of the courthouse even though they are thought to have been wearing some type of restraints. this was the scene outside the north santa clara county courthouse on monday morning as sheriff's deputies sealed off several blocks and searched for two men who

escaped from custody about 9:30. by the time deputies discovered one of two getaway vehicles, an abandoned toyota corolla, it's engine still running, the escapees were evidently long gone.deputy reginald cooks/santa claracounty sheriff's dept. ".....we believe this was an orchestrated event where these individuals had a car staged. once they evaded our deputy they drove one car to a second vehicle, a u-haul cargo van and got into it and continued on..."the escapees are identified as 46 year old tramel mcclough and 47 year old john bivens, both men are from east palo alto . they were attending a hearing in connection with armed robbery charges. they were among several inmates, who were said to be restrained both individually and to each other. but somehow they got away from the lone deputy as he escorted them out of the first floor court room and into a hall waydeputy reginald cooks".....it is standard operating procedure to have several inmates with one deputy, they are handcuffed, wrist chained and shackled so the deputy can manage and monitor them but we cant say exactly how they were able to get away from him and escape...."wearing gray and

killed and four others were injured in three separate shootings. twenty-five- year-old ameere (a-meer) jackson died in a shooting around 3 saturday afternoon on quesada avenue... near hunters point. the other shootings happened on friday night. two men were injured in a shooting around 10-15 on 25th and connecticut streets in the potrero hill neighborhood. about three minutes later...two other people were shot on eddy street near the powell street bart station. all of them were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. the shooters are still on the loose. (grant) the f-b-i is offering up to 20-thousand dollars for information on a series of cold case homicides. the murders happened between 2005 and 20-11 across oakland and richmond. in 2005... sean mc-clellan and la-corey brooks were shot and killed in richmond. in 2009... nguyen ngo was shot to death in oakland. in 20-10... nehemiah... lewis was also shot and killed in oakland... and less than a year later... andrew henderson junior was shot to death... in oakland.

( vicki ) the c-h-p has arrested a man for murder after he was accused of drunk driving and killing a 21- year-old woman in a five-car crash. it happened last night on lakeville highway near petaluma. the c-h-p says a driver of a dodge ram was passing cars to the left over the double yellow lines. that driver hit a 21-year- old oakley woman driving a toyota corolla head-on. three other cars then collided with the corolla. the driver that police say caused the crash has been identified as logologoa tevaseu (tay- vah-soo) from santa rosa. he has a prior d-u-i conviction. (tay-vah-soo) has been booked into the sonoma county jail without bail. "we laughed together, we cried together and we worshipped together. now most of our church family is gone. we're tracking breaking news in the east bay. a student has been shot and killed near a high school in concord. (vicki) it happened this afternoon near olympic high school on salvio street. police say the shooting happened after school was let out for the day. they say a person got out of a black saturn sedan... approached a group of people-- and shot at one of them. (grant) this is video of the scene. the student who was shot... ran back onto campus where staff called paramedics. he was later pronounced dead. kron 4's spencer blake is on scene right now. he will have a live report coming up on kron4 news at six. (grant) on the pennisula a controverisal measure is pitting neighbors against neighbors. (vicki) the measure deals with rent control - and what to do about a tight housing market. kron four's terisa estacio is in pacifica with this issue for us tonight. this measure is really sparking some passionate debate. the city council

voted to put measure c on the ballot in may. now with vote set for tomorrow, both sides are pushing for people to take a stand. (estacio reporting) the signs are everywhere. in front of homes. on businesses, and vehicles.scott hage. i am a long time pacifica resident, lived here my whole life. scott hage says he is in support of measure c - scott. i think a lot of people need some rental help. no one should see their rent increased by 1,000. and on the other side. cheryl youse., no on c. it is wrong it is not what the housing market here in pacifica needs. according to an impartial analsys by the city attorney - measure c would limit the amount a landlord may increase rents on certain rental units and impose restricions on a landlords ability to evict tentants. it would also prohibit landlords from termininating tenancies unless certain just cause conditions exist. in addition, it would also establish a commmision which would be composed of 7 members appointed by the city council which would adjudiate pettiions for upward and

(vicki) new at five-- a drug bust in san francisco. this afternoon police arrested a man after finding 70 pounds of meth and two pound of heroin inside his home. alejandro alvarez was booked on suspicion of drug possesion. s-f-p-d also found 46-thousand dollars in cash. they believe alvarez was trying to sell the drugs. (grant) nearly two-dozen cars are vandalized in pacifica over the weekend. and tonight police are looking for the person or people who did it. (vicki) kron 4's camila bernal has the details. ( camila )20 cars were vandalized in one neighborhood. it happened on terra nova boulevard...between everglades drive and lerida way in pacifica. police are currently checking surveillance videos in the areato try to get more clues and figure out who is responsible.

(grant) a federal lawsuit has been filed in michigan - after a teacher was accused of taping shut the mouth of a student with cerebral palsy....(vicki) the student's mother says the teacher in question even sent her a photo of what happened..catherine heenan is here with the story.. ( catherine) the student is a 27-year-old woman named rosa smith....the incident reportedly happened last year at a school for special needs students in ann arbor.. the lawsuit claims a teacher used duct tape to close the student's mouth - because she was making too much noise in her special education classroom.. rosa's mother says that she was even texted a photo by the teacher ...along with a caption that said "help - she

( pam ) a 100-thousand dollar reward is being offered tonight ... to solve a cold case murder in san francisco. 83-year-old huan chen died after being attacked and assaulted while getting off a muni train back in january of 2010. police say, as he exited at oakdale and third street... a group of six boys pushed him and chen hit his head on the sidewalk. investigators have limited descriptions of the suspects and are hoping someone will now come forward. (pam) happening now, sheriff's deputies in the south bay are hunting for two inmates who are escaped on their way to court. deputies sealed off several blocks and searched for two men who escaped from custody about 9:30. by the time deputies discovered one of two getaway vehicles, an abandoned toyota corolla, it's engine still running, the escapees were evidently long gone. deputy reginald cooks/santa claracounty sheriff's dept. ".....we believe this was an orchestrated event where these individuals had a car staged. once they evaded our deputy they drove one car to a second vehicle, a u-haul cargo van and got into it and continued on..."the escapees are identified as 46 year old tramel mcclough and 47 year old john bivens, both men are from east palo alto . they were attending a hearing in connection with armed robbery charges. they were among several inmates, who were said to be restrained both individually and to each other. but somehow they got away from the lone deputy as he escorted them out of the first floor court room and into a hall waydeputy reginald cooks".....it is standard operating procedure to have several inmates with one deputy, they are handcuffed, wrist chained and shackled so the deputy can manage and monitor them but we cant say exactly how they were able to get away from him and escape...."wearing gray and orange jail garb the inmates escaped through a side door of the courthouse near the corner of birch and grant streets.rob fladeboe/palo alto "....the sheriff's spokesman said they will be reviewing

berkeley police are asking for help identifying people connected to starting fights during a weekend of free speech rallies. the fights happened on august 27th at civic center park, but police have just released these pictures. one of the pictures shows this suspect without her mask. police say, they arrested thirteen people that day. police are treating this weekend's stabbing as a murder case. jan neal was arrested on saturday night. he fatally stabbed, a man in downtown mountain view. police were called to the scene on reports of a fight. they order neal to stop attacking the 55 year-old man, but he wasn't listening. an officer even used a taser, but it didn't work. the victim died in the hospital from his injuries on sunday night coming up... enrollment is open for covered california but confusion abounds .. we'll have an expert in the studio to help you sort through it all. a las vegas father accused of killing his own son.. and police say the reason focuses on sexuality concerns. plus, tomorrow is election day.. and rent control is a big issue on the ballot in one bay area city... we'll tell you what is at stake.

ballots. this measure is pitting neighbors against neighbors - in this coastal community. pracitically everywhere you look this is a sign for and against measure c. in some cases, i have been told that people have been so upset about this measure that there has been vandalism destroying signs like this one on highway one. for those agains the measure, they tell me that it would hurt renters and landlords, not help them, but a city council member tells me that the ordinance is well thought out to help both sides and the community of pacifica as a whole. according to an impartial analsys by the city attorney - measure c would limit the amount a landlord may increase rents on certain rental units and impose restricions on a landlords ability to evict tentants. it would also prohibit landlords from termininating tenants unless certain just cause conditions exist. in addition, it would also establish a commmision which would be composed of 7 members appointed by the city council which would adjudiate pettiions for rents. the commision would be funded by a monthly fee paid by landlords.

there is a new e-mail scam making the rounds .... and it is targeting users of netflix .. catherine heenan is here with the details on the scam that's aimed at millions of the company's subscribers... (catherine) this is what the e-mail looks like..........it's titled "your suspension notification." it's designed to trick people into thinking that unless they update their billing information...their service will stop... the new scam has already targeted roughly 110-million netflix subscribers...there's no word yet on how many people have fallen for this..... the e-mails include a link to a fake netflix page asking users to enter log-in details ...and eventually their personal and billing
