earlier this year ... people in san rafael's' bret harte' neighborhood are bracing themselves for the uncertainty of the upcoming wet weather. kron 4's ella sogomonian has more. this is video of a washed out road in the brett harte neighborhood in san rafael back in february. residents say they hadn't seen anything like it before and now worry about future storms coming their way this season.sot:

jeff swenerton, neighbor// "we are in the path of some of the water that's coming down we are near the top of the hill and there's a gully that's washed out before and if it happens again i think we are in the path of it."in the path is also irwin street that was reduced to a single lane after a landslide in january.sot: ella sogomonian, san rafael// "and just to give you guys a perspective of how narrow this road has really become it takes one two three four five of my little steps to get to the edge." neighbors say a city council meeting last week announced irwin street may soon be closed. sot: jeff swenerton, neighbor// "our main concern for this is safety we want to make sure that the houses below the wash are okay and nobody gets personally affected so if they need to close the road you know we will work around it." unfortunately that slide did turn into a personal problem when it ran down this slope and into the backyard of this glen air street home. the clark family is still working with the city in the clean up process. this gravel was laid out to bring trucks in that

removed 600 cubic yards of mud. but a large tarp and sanbags remain scattered across the hillside.sot: stacy clark, recovering from landslide//it's a little scary we're not sure how safe the hill is so we kind of have to watch it and monitor it and leave if we need to."the clarks say they are bracing themselves to be pushed out of their home of 16 years if the upcoming weather proves to be worse than the last time. (robin) there's a threat of sinkholes in santa rosa's fountaingrove neighborhood.the fires melted underground plastic pipes ... and the ground is collapsing. this map shows us where the damaged storm-drain pipes have been located. at least eight pipes were destroyed. and now, 20 other sites are being inspected. the pipes that melted, were in some cases, damaged up to a few hundred feet. sinkhole has already opened up on the end of newbury court. officials say the reason why they are seeing this problem in fountaingrove ... is because the plastic pipes are relatively new. officials are asking people to be vigilant ... and be prepared to evacuate if it becomes necessary. (robin) one woman is dead after a hit and run in south san francisco ... and the driver is still on the loose this morning. police say a woman was struck late saturday night near the corner of el camino real and south spruce avenue. kron 4's hermela aregawi has more details for us this morning. 44 year old teresa gonzales was killed saturday night. police say just before midnight.. they responded to a report about a car that had struck a pedestrian in the southbound lane of el camino realwhen they arrived they found a woman laying in the street unconsciousthat woman... gonzalez.. a mother of two.we spoke with her daughter andrea who got the tragic news while on vacation in hawaii.she says the family is heartbroken.and says her

mother was the funniest and sweet person she knew.gonzalez was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead there. police say the suspect fled the scene.but they do a loose description of the suspect vehicle.it's described as a black 1998-2000 toyota or lexus.police say.. the vehicle will likely have minor to moderate damage to the front right of the car as well as the hood.police are looking for witnesses who may have been in the area at the time. it's a commercial block and most of the businesses were closed but they're hoping someone knows something that will help the investigation. (robin) police are workig to identify a person who stole a package from a home in fremont. here is a picture of the suspect.... police say the theft happened on october 21st...but they are just releasing this picture from a home security camera. the package was stolen from a home near cougar circle. (robin) a student at u-c berkeley was robbed of her

laptop on campus. it happened on wednesaday night at a student housing building. police say the victim was trying to open the door of the building when the robber came up from behind her. he then grabbed her laptop bag and then took off. the student was not injured in the robbery. police have not released a detailed description of the attacker. (robin) after allegations of abuse against federal immigration detainees in a richmond facility, the contra costa county sheriff's office is respondingand investigating. kron four's spencer blake reports. from the looks of it, the west county detention facility in richmond, is pretty nice on the inside.a man whose uncle was once an inmate there said he had his own key to his room, and was never mistreated. "i've never heard anything bad about west county or read anything bad or seen anything on the internet bad about the jail or the housing conditions there. never."but that's not what 40 federal immigration detainees say.in a letter, they claim they're forced to wait hours to use the restroom, and sometimes

they're locked up for 23 hours a day.the contra costa county sheriff's office says it takes the allegations seriously, and has launched an investigation. but it also defended itseld againt the claimsin a recent facebook post.they explain that the undocumented immigrants are only áhoused at the facility - ice agents make the arrests, and the sheriff's office has nothing to do with their cases."if people are undocumented, then they should have a different approach and different procedure."the facebook post also says that, in addition to personal room keys, inmates have free access to leave to use any of the 24 toilets in each building.if you reviewed video of the inmates, the sheriff's office says you'd find they aren't locked up for 23 hours a day, and that they have ámore free time than is required by the state.most of the day, their doors are kept unlocked, too. some people in richmond just wish the county weren't housing undocumented immigrants in the first place. "i don't think that like the feds should be spending money to have the immigrations locked up.""i don't think it's a really good use of taxpayer money."(reporter)the statement on facebook also says the sheriff's office has never directly received complaints from the detainees about

minutes to spare.chris nugent is rummaging through debris --- hoping to find parts for his 2 antique cars that he plans to salvage.you can either be upset about everything that you lost, or you can look forward. if you're down and depressed about everything it won't change anything.the nugent family has insurance, but it may not be enough to cover debris removal. it may be 20- thousand dollars, but if it's more than that then we have cause for concern.so like thousands of other families who may need additional assistance from fema, chris and his wife signed up for the right of entry. giving clearance for construction crews to clean up their property.the ash ,the metals, the concrete, all of that is what we'll clear out. we'll test the soil to make sure all the toxins have been removed from under the foundation. once the state tells us those toxin levels are within standards, we turn all the

reports over to the county. the county notifies the property owner that the lot is cleaned and they're ready to rebuild.the deadline for families to sign up is monday. it can also be done online at sonomacountyrecovers.org. it may be a couple of years, but this homeowner tells me he's looking forward to rebuilding from the ground up. reporting in santa rosa ali reid kron 4 news. (robin) researchers are trying to find out whether firefighters were exposed to toxins in last month's north bay firestorm. a cancer research organization of the san francisco firefighters' union is donating 100-thousand dollars to fund the study. researchers plan to take blood and urine samples from 200 firefighters. they says it's important to test for any exposure to toxins as soon as possible after the fires. california health officials and toxic substances officials are assisting with the work. the widespread destruction of the fire triggered concerns that

pollutants like asbestos or hazardous household products could be in debris left behind. (robin) many children in the north bay lost all their possessions in the wildfires. multiple fire departments teamed up over the weekend to replace the items that were destroyed. kron four's jeff pierce has the story. in santa rosa saturday morning the marin county and southern marin fire departments hoped to bring a smile to children whose families lost everything in the north bay fires by replacing their childrens bicycles.we wanted to bring christmas a little early this year to the sonoma family and help these people out, they've been through a lot and we wanted to put some smiles on the kids faces and kind of put some joy to their life right now.that was your bike dude, that was your first bike. oakland firefighter barry sanders, who lost his home in the fire, helped his son isaac

find a replacement bicycle.it was a pretty nice bike, i really liked it but i'm glad they've got this open so we can get bikes here.for families that are facing the loss of their homes bringing something for their children was a small step in beginning their recovery.we lost bike and everything, we lost her tricycle and the bike, everything.they're so happy so it's really exciting that they're able to replace it and be able to get on their bikes. i'm probably going to ride it to school because one of our cars burnt down.it's their mode of transportation and it's the one thing we've heard overwhelmingly from parents who have lost their homes, their kids are devastated because they don't have their bikes they have no way to get around, to have fun and now we're going to help these kids have fun again.the firefighters are asking for contributions so they can replace every bicycle lost in the fires.anything the community is still willing to help with we'd much much appreciate and we're taking bikes until there's no more bikes to give.marin firefighters gave out more than five hundreds bicycles saturday and plan to do the same for napa fire victims. in santa rosa jeff pierce kron four news. courtroom.police want to remind the public that there is a 25 thousand dollar reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest of tramel mcclough and john bivins.somehow the two men got away from a deputy that was escorting them in court ... using a key to break free from their handcuffs and restraints. authorities believe they got help from marquita kirk and rene hunt. both were arrested. (robin)(boxes) oakland police tweeting out about more violations related to sideshows over the weekend. multiple cars have been towed. oakland police tweeted saying "do not come to oakland to drive recklessly hash tag sideshow." police and c- h-p say they are cracking down on sideshows towing cars connected to sideshows and using a helicopter to spot cars involved. (robin) in the north bay, police are investigating what they believe is a murder-suicide involving an elderly couple. it happened around 10-30 saturday morning on corte ramon in larkspur. authorities say

a family member found the bodies of the 96-year-old woman and 74-year-old man. police say they found a gun at the scene. no other information has been (robin) palo alto police are looking for a man they say robbed a woman of her cell phone at gunpoint. it happened around 11 o'clock friday night on cowper street. there officers say the woman was sitting in her car near downtown when the suspect pointed a gun at her and demanded money. she handed over her cell phone insteadand the suspect ran southbound on cowper toward university avenue. the only suspect describtion from police ... is a black or hispanic man with an average build ...wearing a red zippered sweatshirt with a hood. (robin) caltrans has blown up the last two piers of the old bay bridge. piers e-17 and e-18 ... located on the old bridge's eastern span were

successfully demolished saturday morning. however crews say a seal was spotted in the exclusion zone causing a slight delay . cal-trans says it combined some demolition dates so the demolition work will finish a year ahead of schedule saving taxpayers nearly 10- million dollars. happened around here - i'm between travi boulevard and air base parkway, and this is eastbound traffic.(vo)it was just before nine a-m when c-h-p says someone in a gray s-u-v pulled up alongside a white toyota camry.someone in the s-u-v pulled out a gun at shot at the other car, hitting the driver.we don't know where the bullet hit him, but he was able to pull over.the passenger in his car was not hurt.public information officer dave harvey says though the bay area has had more than one hundred freeway shootings in the past two years, it's hardly been happening in solano county until now.(sot)"we're always prepared, and we have our eye out for something like this. we're prepared to handle these types of incidents. we do receive a lot of training from our academy - not just because of the bay area but all of california."(vo)the suspect vehicle continued on with eastbound traffic.someone got a good enough glimpse to tell police that two black men were inside the s-u-v, but c-h-p is still looking for more

(robin)(boxes) in the north bay... people whose homes survived the deadly fires are now dealing with more problems. a water advisory has been issued for people in the fountaingrove neighborhood ... which was one of the most heavely damaged areas of the fire. water officials say slightly elevated levels of contaminants were found in parts of that neighorhood. people are being advised not to use tap water for drinking and cooking. officials say boiling or disenfecting the water will not make it safe to drink. the santa rosa water department is flushing clean water through the system to address the contamination. captured in san francisco has been released back into the wild. this is video of the animal being captured on friday. the young cat was spotted in the diamond heights neighnorhood. fish and wildlife came out and tranqulized the animal. wildlife officials say it was probably seeking new territory. the cat was fitted with an ear tag and a g-p-s tracker. it was released on saturday in the crystal springs area of san mateo county. this mornings people behaving badly. this is an uber using its very own lane on folsom street in san francisco now let's stop the video right here. see these two white delineators on each side of the car they are not goal post they were placed there to prevent vehicles like cars and buses from driving in the bike lanes rolls the video . oh now that we have established what we are looking at let me start by saying this i have been trying for the last year to see this with my own eyes i mean the evidence was there, the damaged barricades, the skid marks, but when i would show up there was never enough traffic to see drivers doing this according to bike riders it's a daily occurrence especially in the morning when it's a lot of traffic and backs up but they put the barricades to stop cars it doesn't matter people just go around them yes people just go around them like this driver nats: ambiance and this driver nats: ambiance oh and this muni bus . the irony the sfmta placed the barricades and muni which is part of the sfmta driver around them you're not going to catch me behaving badlyi was here from 1pm to 2pm and every car i'm

(robin) breaking news this morning... 328 people are dead following a massive 7-point-2 magnitude earthquake rocks parts of iran and iraq. the death toll rising overnight. this video was recorded inside a grocery store in baghdad, some 200 miles from the epicenter. you can see items moving and overhead lights swaying. iraqi state media is reporting that the quake was felt throughout the country and beyond. more than a thousand others were (robin) new this morning... president trump is met with protesters on his visit to the philippines. this is video out of manila this morning. about two thousand protesters took to

the street. the president is on the last stop of his tour of asia. the president says during his trip... he made great strides with regards to trade relationships between the u-s and asia. the president says he will make a full statement on the trade talks later this week. (robin) sunday services were held at the first baptist church in sutherland springs, texas... one week after a gunman killed 25 people and an unborn child. worshipers from across the country attended the service, which was held in a tent donated by a business in nearby san antonio. more than 500 people showed up. an associate pastor at the church says they forgive the shooter.

the shooting happened has been transformed into a memorial. there is a white chair in the spot where each victim was killed last (robin) the state senate is changing its process for investigating sexual misconduct after new allegations against democratic senator tony mendoza from los angeles county. the senate will now hire an independent legal team to investigate allegations of sexual harassment and abuse... and recommend punishments for offenders. the changes come after allegations that senator mendoza sexually harassed at least two women who worked in his office. mendoza denies behaving inappropriately. (robin) we are learning new details in a disneyland case involving visitors who came down with legionnaires disease. a dozen people contracted the disease ... which is a type of pneumonia caused by bacteria.10 had to be hospitalized. orange county health officials say they were between 52 and 94 years old. nine of those

people had visited disneyland in september. disneyland has closed two cooling towers in response to the cases. all of those infected had lived or spent time in anaheim. disney says the cooling towers were shut down last month and disinfected. they will not re-open until new test results confirm that the harmful bacteria is clear. mess. one family says they're still working with the city to clean up their property after last winter's storms. they fear they may be pushed out of their home of 16 years if the upcoming weather is worse this year. thursday. they aregued that jose garcia zarate shot and killed steinle by accident. they say the gun went off when garcia zarate picked it up. closing arguments are set for a week from today on november 20th. the case will then be turned over to the jury. ( james ) happening now... the u-s coast guard is investigating a body found on a ship off the coast of richmond. the ship is currently at the conoco phillips terminal on canal boulevard. the death was reported last night. people in the east bay after a woman says she was scammed by a fake apple support employee in walnut creek. the victim says her computer screen went blank until a message popped up to call apple support. the person she spoke to told her to buy one-thousand dollars in i- tunes gift cards to get the repairs done. she later gave the gift card information to the man. when the woman told her family...they determined that she had been scammed and called police. ( james ) researchers are trying to find out whether firefighters were exposed to toxins in last month's north bay firestorm. a cancer research organization of the san francisco firefighters' union is donating 100-thousand dollars to fund the study. researchers plan to take blood samples from 200 firefighters. they says it's important to test for any exposure to toxins as soon as possible after the fires. the widespread destruction of the fire triggered concerns

( james ) happening now in the east bay... the contra costa county sheriff's office is investigating complaints that federal immigration detainees are being abused at a facility in richmond.( darya ) kron 4's spencer blake has the details. from the looks of it, the west county detention facility in richmond, is pretty nice on the inside.a man whose uncle was once an inmate there said he had his own key to his room, and was never mistreated. "i've never heard anything bad about west county or read anything bad or seen anything on the internet bad about the jail or the housing conditions there. never."but that's not what 40 federal immigration detainees say.in a letter, they claim they're forced to

( darya ) the state senate is changing its process for investigating sexual misconduct after new allegations against democratic senator tony mendoza from los angeles county. the senate will now hire an independent legal team to investigate allegationsand recommend punishments for offenders. the changes come after allegations that senator mendoza sexually harassed at least two women who worked in his office. mendoza denies those accusations. (james) the contra costa county sheriff's office is looking into claims of abuse at the west county detention center in richmond. allegations have surfaced from federal immigration detainees who say they're locked up for 23 hours a day and have to go hours without bathroom access. the sheriff's office responded on social media, saying it has never received complaints from the "ice" inmates alleging abuse. we also spoke to the nephew of one of the former inmates -- who says he never heard about mistreatment there. (james) the sheriff's office says detainees at the facility get ámore free time than the minimum amount required by the state. however they say they will take the allegations seriously, and launch their own investigation. (james) one woman is dead after a hit and run in south san francisco ... and the driver is still on the loose this morning. police say a

woman was struck late saturday night near the corner of el camino real and south spruce avenue. kron 4's hermela aregawi has more details for us this morning. 44 year old teresa gonzales was killed saturday night. police say just before midnight.. they responded to a report about a car that had struck a pedestrian in the southbound lane of el camino realwhen they arrived they found a woman laying in the street unconsciousthat woman... gonzalez.. a mother of two.we spoke with her daughter andrea who got the tragic news while on vacation in hawaii.she says the family is heartbroken.and says her mother was the funniest and sweet person she knew.gonzalez was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead there. police say the suspect fled the scene.but they do a loose description of the suspect vehicle.it's described as a black 1998-2000 toyota or lexus.police say.. the vehicle will likely have minor to

( darya ) three people are behind bars in connection with an armed robbery at a brentwood bank. donte davis eddie starks..and maquetta sanders were all arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and conspiracy. police believe davis entered "the bank of agriculture and commerce community" on first street thursday afternoon. once inside officers say he pulled out a gun demanded cash and left. a few hours later...police found the get- away car and arrested all three suspects.
