(steve) what does exercise, fun and a helpng hand have in common on thanksgiving day. the answer, as kron four's rob fladeboe reports now from san jose, is the annual applied materials/silicon valley turkey trot marathon. this was first and santa clara street in downtown san jose as the first turkey trotters hit the pavement. the annual holiday marathon is mostly about charity but it's also about working up an appetite. race participantin just 12 years, the turkey trot has raised more than $6 million dollars for those in need says race founder carl guardino. carl guardino/silicon valley leadership grouppart marathon

is making a thanksgiving plea to immigration and customs enforcement. their father has been detained.... and is facing imminent deportation to colombia.. hard to become a certified physical therapist. he also cares for his elderly mother who is a us citizen. for the past 17 years, he has gone to every check in. he was doing just that on november 15th when he was immediately detained and not even allowed to say goodbye to his family. the sisters say their father loves his family, and he loves his country. they are now urging ice to review his case. maria villacis/daughter: "we were looking at those pictures and it's going to be reallyy difficult not to have him tomorrow." (pam) a man is recovering tonight after being injured during a carjacking in the oakland hills. the attacker is still on the loose tonight. it happened tuesday night at around 6:45... near the intersection of grass valley road and skyline boulevard .... that is not too far from the oakland zoo. police say, the attacker used weapons... but did not specify what those were. the victim is expected to be okay. police have not yet released a detailed description of the attacker. a teacher in indiana is facing felony drug charges after police escorted her off school property. students busted her when they saw video of what appears to be the teacher making lines of cocaine in a classroom. this video shared on social media shows the teacher alone in a classroom hunched over a book on her lap as students wait outside for class to start. 24-year-old samantha cox, who students say teaches english is now being

a man was arrested and accused of breaking into a middle school in concord. here is a picture of who police arrested... it happened earlier this morning at el dorado middle school. police searched the school and found a broken window...and later arrested freddy cortez. police say he is a known thief in concord and has burglarized schools in the past. (pam) also in the east bay... bart police had to use a taser to subdue a woman ... accused of attacking another passenger. it happened on tuesday night at the fremont bart station. witnesses say, the woman was arguing with another man. police say, when they arrived the woman had him in a headlock... and when they tried to intervine... the woman started kicking and scratching them. the officers later used a taser gun. the man involved in the argument ran off. the

woman was later taken to jail. (steve) a group of state attorneys general is criticizing the national park service for trying to increase entrance fees. under the proposal... visitors would be charged 70 dollars per vehicle at the 17 most popular national parks. those parks include the grand canyon... yosemite... and yellowstone. the group says the increase is inconsistent with laws governing the park system. it also goes against president trump's proposal to reduce the service's overall budget. church gave out free thanksgiving meals today. the first lutheran church on concord boulevard, hosted its annual thanksgiving feast. volunteers around the area helped put on the feast. they served salad, turkey dessert and coffee. volunteers also collected clothing for the needy at the event. this is the 12th year the church has had the feast. ( pam ) governor jerry brown is pardoning a man convicted of a double murder after a dna test suggested he is innocent. 70-year-old craig richard coley was accused of killing an ex- girlfriend and her four-year- old son in simi valley. the police chief and prosecutor say they started reviewing the case last year after a retired detective questioned coley's guilt. dna tests did not find coley's dna, but found dna from other people. this caused governor brown to decide that he would free coley from jail.
