(robin)santa rosa police have arrested a husband and wife who they say drove around sonoma county dropping off drugs ... all while their two small children were in the car. this is a photo of the alleged evidence ... 24-hundred dollars in cash and more than two pounds of heroin. police say some was carried by the couple -- the rest found in their petaluma apartment. the suspects are 20-year-old pedro lopez ... and 27- year-old joann guzman. the investigation began when detectives say they learned the couple was part of a large drug trafficking organization. police say they watched the suspects stop at shopping centers in petaluma, rohnert park and santa rosa. it was believed they were selling drugs at the locations ... and on the last stop - officers moved in.the children are now in protective custody. (robin) in the east bay..police are looking for five teens who stole more than 300 dollars worth of packages. it happened in castro

in sacramento. he was an engineer and moved to santa rosa two- years ago for a new job. a friend says he tried to take shelter in a small clearing near his home when the fires broke out on october 8th. the next day he was found with severe burns on more than half of his body. (robin) a santa rosa family is reunited with a beloved family pet ... that they thought had died in the north bay firestorm. 15 year old lea stockham and her family had only minutes to get out of their santa rosa house ... when flames swept through. she tried to grab thomas her pet cat ... but he panicked and ran off. when the family retuned days later ... their house was burned down and they found a dead cat. soon after they had a memorial for thomas. then 45 days later a good samaritan found thomas wandering near a park and had the cat's micro chip analyzed.that led to thomas reuniting with his family.

(robin) happening now ... police are looking for a third person after a home invasion in millbrae. two other people have already been arrested. it happened on the 100 block of arroyo seco. a woman was in the home when three men broke in. she hid in a safe place and called police. when officers arrived the men were in the driveway. they took off with one of them trying to ram his car past two patrol cars. police searched the area and found two of the burglars. the third is still on the loose. (robin) 11 people are without a home this mornign after a fire in san francisco's mission district. the fire broke out on shotwell street around 7:00 last night. at least two different buildings were damaged. the red cross is helping the victims. the cause of the fire is investigation. teacher in san jose claims she is being harassed by her own students ... because she is muslim. as kron4's rob fladeboe reports, that teacher believes the school district is not doing enough to stop the abuse. maimona berta is a special education teacher here at fischer middle school in the alum rock union school district. she has reportedly filed a formal complaint and a grievance against the district. the complaintis said to detail several occasions when she was allegedly the object of derogatory slurs and other anti-muslim hate speech by students. civil rights attorney brittney rezaei says such incidents are on the rise at schools across the country. sotbrittney rezaei/council on american islamic relations in a statement, alum rock district superintendent hilari bauer said that quote "...todays negative political climate at the national level continues to poison classrooms

(robin) the oakland city council has approved amendments for regulating and taxing pot. the amendments were proposed by councilwoman rebecca kaplan. she says it is important the council approve the measures because california is about to make pot sales legal in january. oakland is now one of the few cities that will have a license to sell pot once the state law goes into effect. some cities in the state decided to ban pot stores after ongoing debates.

(robin@landing) the holiday travel season may get more hectic than usual ...thanks to a pilot problem for american airlines. the carrier reported that a scheduling failure has resulted in thousands of flights without pilots and staff workers. a spokesperson says it will bring in reserve pilots for december and is offering to pay time-and-a-half for regular staffers who pick up extra shifts. the pilot's union ... however ... is urging members not to take on these flights ... as it could violate their contracts. the airline did not say how many holiday trips might be affected by the error ... but it doesn't expect to have to cancel any flights. (robin)take a look at this. this is a menu that was on the titanic ... and it was just sold for more than 118- thousand dollars. the 19-12 menu for the first class was among a rare collection of surviving items from the sunken ship up for bid at an auction house in dallas. the man who bought the menu is an anonymous collector.

( darya ) in the south bay... an eighth grade teacher in san jose claims she is being harassed by her own students because she is muslim. maimona (may-mona) berta is a special education teacher at fischer middle school in the alum rock union school district. she has filed a complaint against the district claiming that on several occasions she was the subject of derogatory slurs and other anti-muslim hate speech by students. a civil rights attorney we spoke with says these types of incidents are on the rise at schools all across the country.

( james ) another big story we are following... the san francisco board of supervisors is scheduled to hold a second vote on marijuana regulations.. earlier this week... the board adopted rules that would allow recreational marijuana sales as soon as january fifth. they also rejected placing restrictions on pot shops near schools and daycares. a second vote is set for tuesday. if it passes -- mayor ed lee would still need to sign off on the regulations. ( james ) and in oakland... the city council has approved amendments for regulating and taxing pot. the amendments were proposed by councilwoman rebecca kaplan. she says it is important the council approve the measures because california is about to make pot sales legal in january. oakland is now one of the few cities that will have a license to sell pot once the state law goes into effect. some cities in the state decided to ban pot stores all together. ( darya ) the oakland unified school district is facing a potential budget shortfall of more than 15 million dollars.. now the

( darya ) in the south bay... 11 kids have been arrested after a violent crime spree. all of them are between 11 and 17 years old. and police say the group could be responsible for more than a dozen crimes. the first incident happened last friday in san jose. a woman was carjacked and beaten. 4 of the kids were arrested for that crime including 3 girls ages 13 to 14. then on saturday morning... another driver was carjacked at gunpoint. 6 boys and girls between the ages of 13 and 15 were arrested for that crime. and a 17-year-old was arrested for stealing a car. police are looking to see if other crimes over the weekend can be linked to the groups. we continue to wait for a verdict in the trial of the man accused of killing kate steinle in san francisco. the jury is still out on whether or not jose garcia zarate will be held resposnisble for the 2015 shooting on pier 14. one of the key questions in the case, is whether or not the bullet that killed steinle --- was fired intentionally or not. defense attorneys claim zarate fired by accident. jose garcia zarate could be sentenced to up to 25- years to life if found guilty of first degree murder. worth of packages. it happened in castro valley on almeda street... the teens were caught on surveillacne camera. this video was sent to us by a kron 4 viewer. the homeowners even had a sign saying that the house was protected by surveillance.. but it was ánotá a deterrent in this case.and in hayward... the theft occurred today around 1:00pm in hayward. we were waiting for these packages and were delivered about an 2-3 hours before the theft occurred. yes, these are christmas presents. this happened on kingsford way.

( darya ) in the south bay... an eighth grade teacher in san jose claims she is being harassed by her own students because she is muslim. maimona (may-mona) berta is a special education teacher at fischer middle school in the alum rock union school district. she has filed a complaint against the district claiming that on several occasions she was the subject of derogatory slurs and other anti-muslim hate speech by students. a civil rights attorney we spoke with says these types of incidents are on the rise at schools all across the country.

that disciplinary action has been taken but they would not release any details. ( james ) another big story we are following... the san francisco board of supervisors is scheduled to hold a second vote on marijuana regulations.. earlier this week... the board adopted rules that would allow recreational marijuana sales as soon as january fifth. they also rejected placing restrictions on pot shops near schools and daycares. a second vote is set for tuesday. if it passes -- mayor ed lee would still need to sign off on the regulations. ( james ) and in oakland... the city council has approved amendments for regulating and taxing pot. the amendments were proposed by councilwoman rebecca kaplan. she says it is important the council approve the measures because california is about to make pot sales legal in january. oakland is now one of the few cities that will offer a license to sell pot once the state law goes into effect. some cities in the state decided to ban pot stores all together. ( darya ) the oakland unified school district is facing a potential budget

shortfall of more than 15 million dollars.. now the district is looking at broad cuts. oakland officials recently revealed the shortfall and at a board meeting some parents were so upset ... they are demanding pay cuts for top administrators. < what is on the chopping block? schools? no. schools, we are trying to figure it all out. how did this happen? a confluence of issues, not enough money from the state, and lack of accountability we overspent and now need to reign it in. > ( darya ) the district has 86 schools that serve more than 40 thousand children. a final meeting will be held in december when the complete list of cuts will be announced.
