(grant) tonight-- that toll lane is still closed, and it's not clear when it will re-open. (catherine) kron 4's will tran talked to caltrans officials about why it might take some time to get it repaired. caltrans say losing booth 14 is tough but not catastrophic. you can see slow and go across the bay bridge toll plaza. what is catastrophic is the death of their co worker. si si han had been here for 10 years when on saturday an accused dui driver into her toll booththey understand they need to make the repairs as transportation is their number one priority.

joining me now is bob haus with caltrans to talk about restoring booth 14traffic is already bad and i'm sure you can use every boothbob haus/caltrans-that's right. traffic is always bad on a monday morning and when you lose a booth it's going to have an effect. fortunately it was not booth 4. so what we will be doing later today is putting out a emergency contract and with any luck we will have a crew out here and rebuilding as soon as we can. reporter-it's not as easy as bringing in a booth that's already made?bob haus-no. it's not pre-fab so we don't know how long it's going to takereporter-no word on how long it's going to take?bob haus-we don't know the design of it, the material so at this point it's hard to say reporter-building is easy. mourning is tough. talk about si si han.bob haus-this is hard. just about everybody who knew her adored her. she had a husband and a daughter. all of her colleagues at caltrans are grieving right now especially her colleagues in toll collection. they have been very traumatized by this. some of them were here when the accident happened and witnessed it and they're going to be hurting for a long time reporter-we have unfortunately seen deaths with caltrans before but this was different.

building small, temporary housing for the homeless is also something that's being considered by the city of san jose. (double box/grant) kron four's rob fladeboe joins us live at city hall in san jose...with a look at what these so called 'tiny homes' might look like. rob? (rob live) san jose city officials are considering an idea that would lead to the construction ofseveral specially designed tiny-home bridge communities around town. but he challenge is going to be where to locate them. jackie morales-ferrand/san jose hosing director "....homeless advocate and the city council are saying we cant just let the homeless continue to live on the streets while we wait for enough permanent housing to be built, there has to to be a solution sooner than that..." san jose city officials joined the architectural design firm gensler monday in unveiling two designs for what are described as "emergency sleeping cabins." said to be efficient, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, the

boulevard. police say two cars were racing when it happened. here are pictures from the scene. a black dodge charger and a maroon b-m-w 3-20 were speeding down international when the charger lost control... and hit and killed a pedestrian. both drivers fled the scene. right now police do not have a description of the drivers. the pedestrian is only described as 49-years-old... and the victim did not old... and the victim did not live in oakland. (grant) also in the east bay... police are searching for the gunman who shot and killed a man in antioch. it happened yesterday morning on empire-mine road... near deer valley road. police found the victim on the street. no word on a suspect description. (catherine) a tense situation when a bart train operator is attacked. and tonight-- a man from berkeley is behind bars... the attack happened yesterday morning at the dublin- pleasanton station. police say the man pushed the train operator and then refused to get off. he was taken to jail....and will be banned from riding bart. arrested a man accused of attacking two people at the powell street station in san francisco. it happened saturday night around 5... police say julian ford of sacramento ... stole a woman's cell phone while on the station platform. and then hit two people who tried to stop him. police arrested him on a string of charges including robbery and battery. he's been booked into the san francisco county jail. (grant) we're hearing from one of the women who accused president trump of sexually harassing her before he won last year's presidential election.(catherine) rachel crooks says she doesn't think that voters listened to her....or considered her story when they cast their ballots last november. she says that she she saw trump almost daily at trump tower. one day in 2005, she decided to introduce herself while sharing an elevator. (grant) those states are asking the supreme court to block the law requiring any eggs sold in california to come from hens that have space to stretch out in their cages. the lawsuit was filed today saying the state's law has cost consumers nationwide up to 350-million dollars per year because of higher egg prices. (catherine) the law took effect in 20-15. a federal appeals court has rejected claims that it violates the constitution's interstate commerce clause. the missouri attorney general argues that the new lawsuit is bolstered by an economic study. a's office is responding to brock turner filing an appeal over his sexual assault conviction. he's the former stanford swimmer who assaulted an unconscious woman on campus in 20-15. the d-a said... "brock turner received a fair trial and was justly convicted. his conviction will be upheld. nothing can ever roll back emily doe's legacy of raising the world's awareness about sexual assault." lawyers for turner argue that his trial was a 'lengthy set of lies.' they want a new trial that would overturn the lifetime mandate placing turner on the sex offender registry. he was convicted of three felony counts of sexual assault and served only 3 months of his 6 month jail sentence. first in the u-s to be birthed from a mother who received a uterus transplant.(catherine) baylor university medical center made the announcement over the weekend... the hospital says the mother received the transplant as part of a clinical trial to study new infertility treatments for women who don't have a functioning uterus. while this was a first for the u.s. -- the world's first baby born from a transplanted uterus happened in sweden back in 20-14. (grant) new data predicts a majority of american children will be obese by the time they're in their thirties. " i got a phone call from the noah's ark which is an animal shelter in rockford that cody was there. i said. yeah. i was shocked. stunned." the owner says, he is thrilled to see kody back home with his sister, a labrador retriever named shadow. it is unclear where the missing dog was located. however, he appeared to be healthy other than some breathing issues. kody will be going to the vet this week for a checkup.
