morning.a case of deadly carbon monoxide poisoning in san francisco ... is serving as a warning for others as the weather gets colder. investigators believe a faulty water heater is to blame for the death of a man in the bernal heights neighborhood. kron 4's ali reid reports. officials say tenants in the upstairs apartment may have saved themselves and the woman downstairs by calling 9-11 when their carbon monoxide detector went off at 4:30 in the morning. the fire department believes the water heater on the lower floor may be to blame for even lammers' death. the 78 year old was found downstairs stairs, along with another senior citizen. she was rushed to the hospital. lammers was pronounced dead at the scene. both apartments had carbon monoxide alarms that were working, but it isn't clear if the couple downstairs heard theirs. captain erica arteseros says you want to make sure it is always on.you want the carbon monoxide at a

level where you can read it if there's a digital readout, and also lower than the ceiling because the carbon monoxide gas is heavier so you don't need it to be the height where the smoke alarm is going to be there are some signs and symptoms of exposure like headache, dizzyness, redness in the facebut there's still no way to find out if it's related to carbon monoxide. your best bet is to have a detection mechanism.being exposed to low levels of carbon monoxide on an ongoing basis, the effects are cumulative. so it's affecting your blood stream, it's affecting your body's ability to produce oxygen on the long term even if you don't get a massive dose all at oncesome of the areas where you want to be sure you have the carbon monoxide detectors are near the garage where your car can put off exhaust, near the appliances in your home that are gas operated, and near the bedrooms, where if you're sleeping you wont be able to tell if you're getting a headache or a little bit dizzy. drivers are required by law to display company logos on their rides ... so customers are not victims of fraud.but as stanley roberts explains ... some drivers think they're above the law. are you working today uber or lyft ah lyft where is your trade dress in the back you don't have any logos back there oh yea i forgot .. here is something you probably don't know, every ride hail and there are 14 different ones statewide are required by state law to display something called a trade dress this is what a trade dress looks, according to uber and lyft it need to be displayed on the front and rear passenger side of the car's windshields along with this green tnc card which is also required makes it so ride hail drivers can be easily identified so you don't accidentally jump into the wrong vehicle. however, it's not had to find raid hail drivers meeting even the minimum requirements uber or lyft (uber) how am i supposed oi know that if you don't have your trade dress in the back window you know you have to have it in the airport right front and back yup you don't have it (sorry i don't speak

4:42 am
had to look for his trade dress stickers since none were displayed at all . i was trying to save him the possibility of getting a ticket for the record the trade dress is required anytime and anywhere in california where the raid hail is operating . the fines can be as high as 1 thousand dollars as a passenger, look for the green card and the trade dress, it's the only way to properly identify and actual ride hail driver and not a fraud at sfo stanley roberts kron 4 news (robin) coming up on the kron four morning news... meet our latest kron4 heroes. an inspiring story of a young girl who has new faith in her local police after they helped her out.
