justine waldman starts us off tonight, she is live outside city hall tonight. justine? justine livethere is tremendous sadness here at city hall.mayor ed lee suffered a heart attack and died at 1:11am at san francisco general hospital surrounded by friends and family.he was 65 years old.vo there is a memorial of flowers and cards at the steps of city hall.people stopping by to pay their respects to the city's first asian american mayor.lee collapsed while shopping at safeway near his glen park home around 10 last night.he was taken by ambulance to sf general, in critical condition. doctors worked on him for hours before he died.his sudden death is coming as a complete shock.ed lee is being remembered by his colleagues as an advocate and a man with great integrity.sot acting mayor london breed / san francisco "ed was not a politician he did not always deliver the best sound bite or carry the room with unspoken charisma / what matter to him was helping his fellow san franciscans and occasionally delivering the perfectly timed corny joke./ opponents may have disagreed with him on policy but everyone agrees our mayor was a good man with a good heart"voinside the mayor's office there are also several bouquets of flowers. lee was the city administrator in january 2011 when the board of supervisors appointed him to replace gavin newsom, who was elected lt. governor.he then won election as mayor in november 2011.and won re- election in 2015.justine live flags at city hall are at half-staff and will

is still burning along southern california's coast and threatening communities in santa barbara and ventura counties. it's grown in size to 234-thousand acres... and is still just 20-percent contained. the flames have destroyed hundreds of homes and forced the evacuation of nearly one hundred thousand people. it is now the fifth largest wildfire in modern california history. (grant) winds of 20 to 40 miles per hour are expected through mid-week. that's an improvement over the powerful santa ana gusts that fanned the flames last week and into the early part of this week. (grant) new at five: alameda county prosecutors charged a foster city man in connection to the death of a bay bridge toll worker.(grant) daniel berk was charged with gross vehicular

sides reach a temporary agreement. and while mediation gets underway, city employees can return to work. kron4's haaziq madyun has the story. nat/haaziqhow does it feel to be back to work? now that mediation has begun between the city of oakland and the union representing city employees, the labor strike has been temporarily suspended and city services restored. oakland facilities services worker isadore cooper says he returned to work to find a heavy work-load waiting for him on the grounds of frank ogawa plazaall across the city there were signs of oakland employees being back on the jobsean maher/oakland public works: "today the workers of oakland are excited to be back. we are picking up dumping, cleaning up encampments, we are street sweeping. we are fixing up potholes. we are responding to safety scenarios. we are back"> and after a weeklong strike both parties are back at the bargaining table, resulting in 3000 oakland employees getting back to work as contract

(estacio reporting)this man, michael russell, had a chilling tale. he lived at the warehouse in a trailer. he described the night of the fire, like a horror show.. saying after he smelled smoke and saw flames, he saw a woman yelling at guests to not use the stairs, and stay in the inferno.. he said she was yelling quote, this is the will of the spirits of the forest." he explained he grabbed a few belongings and with a date quote, escaped for my life"he did also add that when outside, he heard harris yelling, quote, this is the exit, this is the exitmax harris and derick almena facing 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter for those that died in the fire which engulfed the warehosue back on dec. 2 2016. prosecutors argue almena and harris knowingly built up the warehouse illegally - allowing tenants to bring in rv's pianos, statues, rugs, staircases, highly inflamable

continues tonight at six... and we are keeping our eye on the alabama race for the u.s. senate .. where accusations of sexual harassment hover over the ballot box. i'll see you at six.. vicki and grant back to you (vicki) we are learning new details on the death of notorious cult leader charles manson.(vicki) health officials say manson died of cardiac arrest followed by respiratory failure. all of this was caused from colon cancer which spread all over his body. manson, who was 83-years-old was serving time at the corcoran state prison. he is better known for the murders of pregnant actress sharon tate and eight others. health officials say manson's cancer developed months before his death. (grant) critics are blasting president trump for what they describe as the "sexist slur" he made - against democratic new york senator kirsten gillibrand... the more than 100 democrats who have called for a congressional investigation into accusations of sexual misconduct against the president. the president dismissed all of those accusations again in a tweet today.. you can hear more of my interview today with congresswoman eshoo on our website - kron four dot com. vicki and grant? (grant) tonight the clock is ticking for republicans to pass tax reform by the end of the year. president trump says he wants to sign tax cuts into law by christmas.(vicki) but as kron4's white house correspondent mark meredith explains, republicans are still trying to decide what a final tax bill would look like. for weeks, gop leaders have been rewriting their tax bill behind the scenes. and starting wednesday the public will see their progress. "we are all in intense discussions with our colleagues on the house side"nat: "there are a million provisions in the code that they're going through" lawmakers still have to decide several factors for tax reform:

chilling testimony today in the preliminary hearing for the two people charged in oakland's ghost ship warehouse fire. kron fours terisa estacio reports. bay bridge toll worker. daniel berk was charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and six counts of felony d-u-i causing inury. berk drove his truck through a booth and killed 46-year-old caltrans worker si si han. the accident occurred around five in the morning. c-h-p officers who were at the scene of the crash say berk smelled of alcohol and marijuana. berk's next court appearance has not been released yet.
